The decor is nice enough and the service was good, but the prices are high. I thought my Alaska Morning roll was good, not exceptional but not bad. My husband had the lunch special and the sushi rolls were the veggie and wasilla. He thought his choice was so so. The gyoza was ok. The beer was 9$ for an ipa when it's $10 for a whole growler and 5 to 7$ a glass usually elsewhere. The prices and the lackluster flavor mean we won't be back. We loved Khan sushi that was here before. We fed 4 people for 10$ more at Ronnie2 in anchorage and got dessert, edamame, noodles and soup as well as big huge rolls. It's not worth a return trip. They do offer discounts however for emergency service personnel which was a bonus. read more

This place is pretty delightful. I ordered for pick-up and was told 20 mins. I showed up at 20 mins on the dot... Had to wait an additional 12 minutes but the gentleman who greeted me was lovely. Asked me to have a seat and if I wanted a drink while I waited. The sushi was delicious. Being a regular sushi water from Anchorage, I like to think I know my stuff. The fish was cold and fresh. The prices are a little higher than I am used to from Anchorage about $20/roll. Overall it was a great experience. read more

Swung in after a bad day & ordered. Quiet atmosphere. Very relaxing after the day is had. First I starry off w jasmine tea - which was amazing. Literally amazing!! Soup tasted different than I've had elsewhere but still tasty. Wasn't a fan of the funky yellow dressing over the salad but after I picked it away, the salad itself was flavorful. My next visit I'll just know to ask for no dressing! I love crasins in my salad!! Ordered the Spicy California roll & the Volcano Roll. Nice size portions, not quarter size pieces. Zushi is an excellent Japanese restaurant with a diverse menu, large portions and very good service. We had the bento box dinners and they were delicious. The portions were generous. The owner greeted us and provided very good service. The food tasted very fresh. Our meal included tempura vegetables and was tasty. We would have liked tempura sauce, but the home made soy sauce was very good. They also give a discount to military personnel. If you are looking for good Japanese food in the Palmer-Wasilla area then we recommend you give Zushi a visit and you will not be disappointed. read more

I was craving sushi so decided to try this restaurant with my family. The server was friendly and constantly made sure we had water and everything we needed. We ordered several different sushi rolls and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the Fuji Mountain Roll. It has so much flavor without being too spicy. What a lovely little find in a random location. Living in Palmer, I don't travel to Wasilla much, but some girlfriends and I decided to get some dinner and a movie. We tried Grapetap but were turned down because it was packed. So we decided to give the new sushi place a try. Now, I've had a lot of sushi in my life, coming from the coast where it's fresh and amazing, I'd consider myself a connoisseur of sorts. Zushi was a great find. They did it right: Hot Saki was served over flame to keep it warm, we were served some chef complimentary items for starters and at the end. Always a kind gesture. The display was beautiful and clean, both the table setting, and the sushi/roll display. Very artful, the way sushi should be! The owner is Japanese so I'm glad she kept with tradition. The edamame was MUCH better than Sakura! All the rolls were beautiful, the tea was refilled often with hot water, the Saki warm, friendly staff (if not even over friendly). I recommend the Fries and Stake Roll if you like a fried roll.... super delicous and surpising. I had the Kong Roll which was also amazing. Their homemade sauce for the Gyozo was the best I've ever tasted. The reason it only gets 4 stars is because of the price. A little on the high side, but I understand its sushi in Alaska... but in all honesty, I don't mind paying for food that's beautiful, fresh, and delicious... especially when it comes to sushi. Everyone should give it a try for a nice date night out... make sure you save up some funds if you are worried about price. But it's worth it! read more

I originally read about this place here on Yelp. It has some great reviews so I figured I'd check it out. BUT!!.... I walked in and barely sat down when I realized that their sushi rolls that are sold at other places for $6-$12 were $17 and up here. I guess because they use "black rice". I'm no cheap-o but no matter how good the food is I'll never pay three times more when I can go many other places in town for less than half the price. Unless it's rice made of gold I just can't justify it :P read more

We walked in and he said to sit anywhere, no one came to our table for after 5 minutes. I got up and had to ask for menus, we then waited another 5 minutes at least for someone to bring water out and the waitress smelled like smoke. I was pleasantly surprised that we got a Asian salad and miso soup with the over priced sushi. Everything tasted good, except for the mochi ice cream it was a weird texture didn't have that chewy mochi feeling. I liked the black rice they used and the fact that they brought out fortune cookies at the end. When in Wasilla, Zushi is definitely a go to! The staff is super friendly, if you've been there before they remember! The food is AMAZING! They have delicious sushi in all sizes, you can get regular rolls and mega rolls. Their sushi is super creative too, not only do they have the classics but they have totally crazy yummy options. If your not in the mood for sushi, Zushi is still a great place for dinner or lunch. As well as sushi, Zushi has dumplings, curry, rice dishes and more. Having heard many good things about this establishment I walked inside with high expectations, I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was fun yet still professional. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable with the menu. After I had ordered I was brought a very tasty and uniquely presented salad with a cup of the best miso soup in the valley. This establishment defiantly brings their own flair and creativity to the traditional Japanese cuisine. The wait time was not too long in my opinion. Nobody seems to be in a rush, the chef takes his time and it really shows. My sushi was delicious and the ingredients were fresh. Very beautiful plating. The chef makes you feel like your meal was special. All in all, the menu offers a wide array to suit everyone's fancy, the service is friendly and inviting, and the food is fresh and of the highest quality. We are from out of town and a local recommended this place. This restaurant is phenomenal. From the moment we walked in and thought out dinner, the service was exceptional. We were pleasantly surprised before the sushi came out by complimentary salad and miso soup. They had some more unique rolls that sounded good but we really wanted salmon. We started with salmon and octopus sashimi. Our waitress recommended the Khan's Roll and Salmon salad roll. Both were amazing. The presentation was beautiful; The rice is purple, which the sushi chef explained is made with a mix of white, brown and black rice, and they had multi colored roe on top. And they were delicious. While we were eating, the sushi chef came to check on us. I highly recommend this place! read more

I wish I had something nice to say about this place but I just don't. When I walk into a restaurant and see not one single guest a red flag immediately goes up. I have never had a server eavesdrop on our discussion and correct me on something I was saying (multiple times!!) until now. My water never got refilled and it took them a very long time to notify us that one of the rolls we ordered was unavailable due to not having any soft shell crab. As we sat for a very long time waiting for our food we got to watch our server at the next table over eating his own. The teriyaki chicken was very few pieces of chicken breast sliced thinly like a potato chip with a very little sauce on top. The rolls we ordered were just ok but for the price we could do much better. Overall bad service, long wait, and meh food means we will not be returning and do not recommend to others. read more

First off, let me preface this by saying that I am not a sushi connoisseur by any means. I wanted to make that clear. My husband and I decided to go out to eat, and we had never eaten there since the new owners took over. I heard it was spendy, but good. First impression-nice decor, holiday music playing, and a man who I assumed to be the owner, greeted us in a friendly manner. The place was deserted as can be, not a soul in there besides us. Maybe that was a clue? I decided to try the chicken teriyaki dinner, and my husband had the Sukura sushi platter. It had avocados, crab, and on top, a strip of tuna. It had the potential to be very yummy! The first thing they served us was the miso soup and salad. I typically love miso, but this one didn't thrill me. First off, it was darker than I am used to, and the main thing I wasn't impressed with was the temperature (luke warm, I like mine much hotter) and the salt level was off the charts! Too salty to enjoy. The salad and dressing on the other hand, was pleasant and tasty! When it came to my chicken plate, it had a nice aesthetic to it, and a large amount of chicken slices (thinly sliced) but right off the bat I could tell it was going to be too dry. Sure enough, it was. Also, I like more sauce, it was overcooked and had very little sauce on top, so I asked for more, which they graciously obliged. The rice had these little green spices sprinkled on top which I wasn't expecting, it wasn't my favorite taste, but I eventually got used to it. They also had some type of kimchee salad in one corner, which was tasty. As far as my husbands sushi roll, I liked it but thought they were too large to put in your mouth all at once (I have a fear of choking) and also the white sauce they put on it was too much, it had a mayo consistency, and it sort of overtook the taste/texture of the roll. I know it sounds like I am picky, but really, I was trying to be as unbiased as I could be. For the price point, I think we will stick to Sakura Sushi, they also include dessert and have Bento boxes in the same price range that come with more items (tempura, sushi, sashimi, etc.). We likely won't be going back, unfortunately. read more
