First timers. Saw the great reviews and decided we needed to go. I was surprised at how small it was but we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was quick to greet us and get us drinks. I ordered the eggplant parm special and so did my friend. We noticed that our food was taking a really long time. Our reservation was for 6:30 and at 7:45 we still had not gotten our food. Our waiter explained that they ran out of eggplant so they sent an employee out to the store to buy more rather than telling us to pick something else! When we finally got served, the food was very good. My friend ordered the penne arribiatta but it was so spicy she couldn't eat it. She was the only one that did not enjoy the food. If I was rating on food only, I'd give it a 4+ but the wait, the high noise level and heat in the restaurant lowered my rating. Besides being extremely loud, so much so that we had to yell to speak to one another, it was so hot in there, we were dying. I mean, we were sweating and fanning ourselves. Installing ceiling fans in there would help a lot. Need to mention that our server brought us out complimentary cannoli's because of our long wait. Very nice gesture! We will not go back in the summer but this actually was one of the better Italian restaurants we have gone to in metro Atlanta. read more

I picked Zuzzus because of the reviews, and wasn't disappointed. While the ambience is spare, at best, the food is some of the best Italian I've had in Atlanta recently. The marinara sauce was rich and thick with sweet undertones, which I prefer. The mozzarella was hand made, the baguette, warm, and portions plentiful. We found this place from reviews and while its certainly out there as a venue, the chance we got to experience here was stupid fun. The staff were attentive and fun to chat with, the menu has a lot to offer and the experience overall was great. We went for the pizza and it's definitely great pizza. The appetizers we got were stupid good, including the gnocchi al forno that was basically just cheeeeeeeeese. Wine menu was fun, we ended up getting like a 20 year old bottle of Chianti Riserva for a really good price and enjoyed that alongside other options. While we're usually in Buckhead for our visits for ATL, this place was well worth the drive. read more

Sicilian here! So you need to listen to me since I know I thing or two about GREAT Italian food! Listen to other reviewers who tell you to make a reservation. They are RIGHT! It's a small, quaint restaurant. I waited weeks to go, but it was WELL worth the wait! I was on a mission to find a biz that served beef carpaccio. ZuZZu serves up some of the best! We started with the CAPONATA CLASSICA as well as the CARPACCIO DI FILETTO. Both were fantastic! My husband and I decided to split a caesar salad and the Norma pizza. The salad was great and the pizza was some of the BEST pizza I have ever had! Again, being Italian, my word is good! Our server was amazing as well as the entire staff! The Lasagna... OMG. Made the real way with béchamel sauce and not ricotta. Fantastic sauce for the pasta, made from scratch in house (my wife loved the seafood pasta). Brought back memories from my years in Europe. Vibe is cozy and not too pretentious like many "fancy" Italian restaurants. I went to ZuZZu in Roswell for the first time with a party of 4. First of all during this crazy COVID time they had hand sanitizer as soon as you walked in, tables at a safe distance and the staff all wore masks. Onto the food...we ordered three specials between the four of us. I had a house made pasta, similar to rigatoni but not quiet as thick. This dish was served with a Bolognese style sauce with English peas. It was absolutely outstanding, I devoured every last bite because it was too good to take home! Another friend had a pork special, served with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. I don't even begin to know how to describe it but the bottom line was it was amazing and the plate was cleaned. My spouse had a Shrimp and pasta dish which had a little kick too it, very nice. I wish we would have had room for pizza, the nearest table got two and they looked very tasty. I feel with much of the Roswell restaurant scene crowd focusing on Canton St that ZuZZu is getting overlooked, but that's fine by me - with smaller crowds, exceptional food and excellent customer service we will back to ZuZZu to try more! read more

After many visits of "letting it slide" we've decided it's just not worth the bad service. Half the table eats while the other half watches and waits... and waits... and waits.... /TL;DR This newish Sicilian restaurant has won my favor for Italian food, pretty much forever. This will be a place on the rotation! There was nothing about this place not to love. Except maybe the music... /ATMOSPHERE They did the best they could for a strip mall restaurant. It's near historic Roswell so it's kind of nice in the feel of the area. I really like the bank of windows provided by the industrial garage door. Seating was really cramped when we went because of a large party. I'm not sure how crowded it is normally, but it's nice they take reservations. /FOOD ZOMG. The best. ZuZZu purports to do pizza right, with their homemade yeast starters, high-quality flours and grains, and people from Sicily who know what they're doing. Let me just say, ZuZZu lives up to the hype. The pizza was at the level of other high-quality pizza restaurants like Campania. I read somewhere in one of the reviews that the meatball appetizer was the way to go. I did not regret moving on that recommendation! Those meatballs are awesome. Their marinara is great. Very robust but no tart or tanginess which is kind of a display of talent in knowing how to cook. The tableside bread was actually REALLY fantastic. They didn't just buy some Italian loaf from a baker and cut it up. These are obviously made in-house w/ the same expertise they use in their pizza-making. We couldn't find cream-based pasta on the menu, but ended up in luck since their special that night was exactly that. It was very good. Finished up with a cannoli. I'm no cannoli expert... but it was Alpine Bakery good. /SERVICE My least favorite part of the dining experience. Before the large table showed up, service was great. Afterward, it almost immediately tanked. I had to walk my check up to the counter after waiting a long while to get it. The owner apologized for the service that night which was attributed to two people not coming in. Well, okay. I can believe that. No detractor unless the service plays a repeat performance. Wow. This place is amazing. We have been grabbing takeout every week from here since the first time we tried them about a month ago. This was our first time in ZuZZu. My first impression was the messiness of the restaurant.. Extra chairs stacked in the middle, shelves and boxes cluttering the area behind the counter... We were greeted by a very nice man, offered fresh homemade bread and given a little background on the restaurant. The host was so nice and offered us a small wine tasting to make sure we enjoyed our wine, a more than very generous pour. We started with salads and a sausage pizza.. We could have easily shared one salad since they were so large. The pizza was thin and extremely good. I ordered the eggplant dinner and my husband had a fettuccine and salmon pasta. Both were very good, but had a little too much spice for my taste.. I am thinking it was Thyme. That being said, my son had the leftover eggplant and he thought it was amazing. I think most people enjoy a spicy sauce, so you be the judge. Had dinner at Zuzuus Saturday night. I love the cozy and family atmosphere. Locally owned and operated by Sam. Sam, the owner is quite a character! He knows how to walk you around the menu ensuring your selection is an excellent choice for you. Wine was selected for us and it was one that I will seek out down the road. The lasagna is the best I've ever had. I had to go for lunch the next day. The pasta is so thin and delicate yet holds up nicely with the bold meat sauce. The staff was friendly. Roswell's best lasagna is no longer. It's bigger with more white noodle and less meat sauce - and definitely not Sam's signature flavor. Maybe I will have to reevaluate the menu under the new owner, but the days of excellent Friday night takeout lasagna are over. Boo. read more

Tried calling ahead to make a reservation and no one answered. Tried making one online and it didn't work. Went into the restaurant and there were empty tables everywhere. They approached us, asked if we made a reservation (evidently you have to leave a voicemail?). Then told us they couldn't accommodate our party of three. My son wanted Italian after a baseball game. We saw the reviews and came to this hidden little gem. It's a small little restaurant, very non-descrip from the outside. You can park across the street in the little strip shopping center. The menu is tradition Italian course meals. Antipasti, Primi, Secondi... you will have to order a pasta and a separate meat dish. My son shared a delicious Caesar salad, Gnocchi w/ Sorrentina sauce, Pollo Carciofi e Vodka and caramel cheesecake. When we wanted to try out a new local Italian restaurant as were excited to check out Zuzzu. When comparing it to other Irwin options it seemed the prices were higher than others but I was hoping the ambiance, service, and food quality would match the cost. This was unfortunately not the case. The entrees were bland, small, didn't have any sides along with them, and resembled an appetizer or a tapa more than an Italian entree. One of the two, Eggplant Parm, was cold. The cheese was right out of the fridge and wasn't even close to meted. When we notified someone about the fact the food was cold it was met with a puzzled look and a pause. This was followed with "What do you want me to do? Heat it up?". The second entree was made by someone who didn't use the ingredients as they were supposed to be and the dish lacked depth. It also came without a side. The eggplant parmigiana came out a second time... cold. Same refrigerated shredded mozzarella sprinkled on top of a hot dish. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Should have judged the book by the cover. Will not be surprised when this place goes out of business in the near future. read more

Meh-zza Luna pizza now. Disappointed with our pizza. The new owner changed the crust and the pepperoni in the italo pizza. Staff is still the same and is wonderful, but the pizza is no longer the most wonderful pizza in the ATL. My only hope is that the owner reads this and then finds the ingredients that Sam used. Have had eggplant parm, bolognaise with different homemade pasta, chicken a La vodka, pizza, calamari and all was excellent. Owner Luigi is very personable and attentive and seek his recommendations for food and wine choices. Wait staff is great and very helpful. A nice enough place, but for the price I expected better. Our $77 got us 2 of their small pizzas (the ZuZZu with white sauce, red onions, sun dried tomatoes, chicken, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese), a plate of pasta (the Saporita: pacchero tubes in meat ragú, mushrooms, cream, and parsley), a Noce salad (mixed greens, Gorgonzola cheese, bronzed pears, walnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette), and 3 cans of soda. We started with complimentary bread with basalmic vinegar in olive oil. The balsamic vinegar had a sweetness. The bread was flavorful with a considerably tough crust. The salad also had balsamic vinegar in its dressing as attested to by its dark brown color. But on the salad none of the sweetness or balsam was noticeable, and it was a tangy dressing. The bronzed pears were the color and look of pickled beets, but thankfully were much better. Only two crumbles of Gorgonzola garnished the salad. The walnuts in contrast were quite generous. The pizza crust is thin where covered by toppings. But the edges were quite thick. I dipped some in my pasta sauce and found the crust a good flavor, with a smokiness from the wood-burning oven. My wife and daughter thought the red onion was undercooked and picked them off after trying them. The rest of the pizza was good. My pasta dish was decent tasting and a generous portion. No refills were offered the entire visit. But other than that, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The tiny restaurant has only THREE parking spaces, so you'll probably have to park in the lot of another business. The bathroom is also in a hall serving the next door business, with signs telling you not to use the other bathroom. The music, atmosphere, and pricing is that of fancy dining but the food and rough edges don't match. I might get a pizza to go the next try, as I think that's there strong suite. read more

We decided to try this place for date night, and are SO GLAD we did. We were almost immediately welcomed by a gentleman who was very excited to hear it was our first time there. Almost everything on the menu is created in house, including the bread and meats. He gave us several suggestions, and we decided to go with the meat and cheese board, lasagna, and zuzzu pizza. Everything was delicious, and we kept eating well past the point of full because it was just. that. good. I reluctantly award ZuZZu 3 stars despite the food being really good. I was excited to find this place because it's close to home and hubs loves Italian food. I ordered 2 meals for pickup, and made my way over. It's in a tiny strip mall with very limited parking, so keep your eyes peeled if arriving at night. I found a parking spot and ran in to pick up my order only to learn that someone gave my order away. One of the ladies seemed distraught and the other, the one who gave the food away, seemed unbothered. I was asked if I still wanted the order or a refund. I opted to wait for the food so I sat in the car and waited. The manager, who was there, but never addressed me directly, sent word via the lady who brought our order out that he was offering a $15 gift card for a future visit. I wasn't planning to use it because the nonchalance was off putting. Hubs convinced me to try again because we enjoyed our Spago Al Gamberi. While it was good, I thought it was a little dry. A little more olive oil and/or white wine would have taken it over the top. We came back a few weeks later and would you believe that they entered one of our two entrees incorrectly? That's exactly what happened, so believe it. I made the waitress aware of our prior visit and she invited hubs and I to a glass of wine while they corrected our order. I was reluctant to accept it due to the Pangea and indoor dining. It's literally why we placed a to-go order. We were assured that the re-fired entree would be up shortly, so we sipped a glass of wine playing peek a boo with our masks.
