They open at 11am, but answered the phone at 9am which was great! I was preparing for a lunch meeting that day, and had questions about the menu and wanted to prepare them in advance since this is a small location. The person I spoke with happily obliged and said to call back when I have my orders. I was concerned about not having enough of a particular item, but she took my order before they opened, I called back at 10am. She actually prefer on-line orders, but that was impossible for me at that time. First time here, and they spoke to me like I was a regular, super helpful, and so friendly! They had my orders all packed up and in a brown paper bag with easy to carry handles. The beef stew order was also packaged separately and securely in a it's own plastic bag, in-case of spillage. The beef stew was delicious, good ratio of beef, to vegetables. The beef was so soft, the vegetables cooked perfectly. Nice flavor, not too salty, good amount of soup. The rice, and toss greens was in its own compartment, and the salad dressing in its own container. I appreciate their thoughtfulness in nicely packing our orders! The chicken lemongrass bowl was the favorite of the lunch meeting crowd. Some of them requested to substitute white rice for the 'Olena yellow rice. It must have been good because there was no leftovers or waste. My boss is a small eater, and took the leftovers back to her desk and ate the rest after the meeting. 'Olena by Chef Ron Simon is located at the Dole Cannery Shops on the ground floor, next door to Subway. Entrance to the parking area is on Pacific Street, look for the bright yellow parking structure. I love it when I'm able to provide a good lunch for our work meeting! I am so happy I found this amazing gem of a place on my foodie adventure through Oahu. I was captured initially by its 5 stars on yelp and also because I was needing a good lunch place. This blew my mine! The food was second to none. So fresh and tasty! The buerre blanc sauce was a perfect pairing to the tuna. It was an elevated lunch and worth a return trip to taste more of what the chef creates. But it was the people from the shop that made this a more magical experience. Stopped by today about 11 am, just when they opened. Great call because by 11:30 the line was long. The owner, Rose was so friendly, took time to share the menu. We had the Red Wine Beef Stew, potato salad (or you could have toss green), and rice which was all excellent. The brisket was very tender and the stew gravy was so tasty! It was worth the price. We also had the Adobo Pork Belly Banh Mi. The adobo is not dark or vinegary like regular pork adobo. The pork belly was very tender. Excellent sandwich! We also bought the Poi Dessert Sampler & Original Banana Poi dessert for gifts for some friends. Will need to try them ourselves next time! We also got to meet Chef Ron! Mahalo Rose and Chef Ron! This spot is a MUST! Our friends loved Olena's so much and shared with us this awesome eatery. The food & customer service are spectactular!! Auntie Rose made us feel right at home and gave us so many recs for what to order and even what to check out around Oahu. Our first time at Olena's was such a great experience, that we came back the next day! The store is in the Dole Cannery Food Court, there's plenty of seating in the middle of the food court if you have a bigger group. Be sure to move your tables back to it's original spot though heh. On our first visit, we ordered the brisket banh mi, adobo pork banh mi, and the adobo pork rice bowl. Both banh mis had perfectly pickled veggies, fresh cilantro, tender meat, and the softest baguette bread. I really enjoyed either meats, but I'd def recommend the adobo pork. The adobo pork rice bowl was also really good! The pickled red onions with the slaw was super refreshing. Now for the following day (which was a Wednesday) we FORSURE had to get the SPECIAL: Blackened Ahi sandwich with truffle fries. The ahi tuna was cooked to perfection with a little char. There was also a spicy aioli sauce and fresh spring greens, SO GOOD. Auntie Rose also brought us a bunch of stuff like extra sauce (tip: dip your fries in there). So sweet :') Anything you order from Olena's is 10/10, we tried a few of their drinks like the coffee, lemonade and Plantation tea! Oh omg the banana breads and brownies were sooooo good. Parking is a bit confusing but there is a large free lot for the Dole Cannery around the block (Apple Maps does not take you to the right spot lol). Rose was so kind and sweet and we loved our iced tea, esp the mango passionfruit one. The lemongrass chicken bowl was flavorful and the olena rice was delicious. The lady waved me in and proceeded to tell that they opened at 11 a.m., but they could sell me some bakery items, I told her that I was going to order lunch. She pointed to a stack of menus. And proceeded to tell about the food and what was most popular. I ordered the Wine Beef Stew and the Mahimahi Fish and Chips. Also ordered an order of brownies. They come in three squares for five dollars. The brownie review will have to wait. When I got home, it wasn't in the bag. The beef stew is a wine base, as the name implies. If you like tomato based beef stew, this is not for you. The mahimahi fish and chips is a dish I would order again. Lightly battered and did not overpower the delicate taste of the mahimahi. Note- this is only about the service. I had ordered online over an hour in advanced which I don't normally do but this time I noticed there were different people. My order was supposed to be ready at 12:45. I got there little after and noticed my food wasn't ready. There was a different lady at the counter and I was a little annoyed why it took them 15 minutes longer to have my food ready. This has never happened before so I don't know what's going on. When a guy brought my food to me no one apologized for the wait and I didn't even get a chance to ask for utensils. The food was good but the service could be way better. Located at the Dole Cannery (just behind Costco), OlenaHi is easy to find once you are there. Here you will find an incredible selection of foods and desserts ready to be devoured with conviction! Each selection is freshly made that day, with certain "specialties" kept on certain days. Ingredients are bought from the markets and brought directly to Olena for Ron's magic creations! From the brisket to the lemongrass chicken to the crispy and flavour bomb-filled fried mahi, each selection is catered to perfection and made with perfection! The star attraction is the selection of banana breads - each selection is incredible! Our favourite gold bar is the chocolate chip - you better buy your own, you won't wanna share!!! These banana breads are so delicious and incredible, they ship these gold bars anywhere in the world!!! Seriously!!! We ate in the interior court, which is just right for enjoying Ron's creations. Everyone was wonderful and inviting and you can tell the sense of community runs strong here. Overall, OlenaHi is a gem worth experiencing. Heck, we are begging for a Toronto location!!! This was actually my first time visiting 'Ōlena and I was very surprised with the quality of service the establishment had. The restaurant has a clean and welcoming atmosphere that just makes you want to enter. It could have just been the timing, but when I walked in I was immediately told I'd be taken care of right away and was greeted by the friendly staff. They didn't try to upsell or push for me to order anything in particular, but I still went for the Loco Moco. It was a beautiful ​dish with a nice mound of potato mac salad on a small bed of greens, a healthy scoop of rice, a decadent nicely sized hamburger patty, two perfectly cooked eggs, some caramelized onions for garnish, and a wonderful red wine sauce instead of the classic brown gravy. I have been wanted to try this place for a long time but i finally had the opportunity to eat here, I heard a lot of good things about the food and it did not disappoint. I ordered the brisket with rice and the portions are pretty filling, I also got the fudge brownies which taste just like when you have the munchies and that first bite you take is fucking amazing. The lady who took my order was very nice and seemed to know all her customers by name, she knew it was my first time eating there and was helpful and accommodating. There is seating within Dole Cannery with AC so you don't have to deal with the hot sun. They will hand deliver your food to you when your order is ready. Just landed from our Southwest flight from the mainland and starving. A simple search for "great food" brought up this lovely restaurant. Stashed away in the Dole Cannery food court is Olena's. Before I get to the food I have to share this experience. The very nice lady behind the register might have ruined the rest of this trip for me because of how nice & attentive she is. She was pairing our drinks to our meals for us and when people came in to ask for sauce. She paired a sauce to their meal on the spot. This is not an experience I've ever had in a food court location ever. On to the food Mahi Mahi fish and chips. 5 stars Wife wanted something light and somehow ended up choosing the fish and chips because Mahi Mahi versions sound great. The fish and the chips came out very crunchy but the fish was not heavy at all. Would try again Short rib bowl - 5 stars. Super tender and the olena rice was very filling to balance out the great bbq sauce. The slaw is a star. I loved how the texture & temp paired well with the rice and brisket. Drinks - Filipino lemonade was great. I love the bits Pineapple mango tea - super refreshing, but if you're looking for something sweet this won't hit the spot. Thanks for having us!
