First time stopping in and loved it! Owner was very friendly. I picked 6 doughnuts, $10, and cut them in half to share with my office... everyone thought they were absolutely delicious. The maple topping was so good. I got the maple and chocolate bar, 2 old fashioneds which is my favorite, crumb donut was better than anyone I've had before, and the strawberry twist. Mr. Donut is a hole in the wall donut shop. I really like their croissant breakfast sandwiches. My boyfriend said classic glazed was good. I tried their sprinkled cake donut and the cake was moist! I stumbled upon this place and am so glad that I did. They make the best apple fritter I have ever had. So fresh and crisp. I dream about going back for another but their early closing time is the deterrent. I'm very familiar with all the Donut Shops in Oceanside. I like Hill Street, Tan's, SK, Oceanside. But Mr Donuts is my favorite. Quality over quantity here. Place is packed getting breakfast sandwiches, so those must be good. read more

If you want a great donut and croissant breakfast sandwich, then look no farther. It's just a little while in the wall donut place but it's by far one of the best. Every donut we have bought is fresh and tasty. But our go to is the croissant bacon, egg, cheese, jalapeño and Mayo breakfast sandwich. I think it has to do with their croissants. Buttery and super flaky. Eating in your car is not advisable unless crumbs every where aren't a problem. If you're just in the mood for a croissant, then buy at least two of their massive ones. Thankfully this donut shop is t down the road or I'd be in big trouble. read more

I'm pretty picky about my donuts. There are a lot of places that use an oil which doesn't agree with me. I read some reviews about Mr. Donuts and decided to give it a try. We have many donut places closer to our place in Carlsbad Village, but I decided to drive the extra distance to see whether it was worth it and it was!! Mr. Donuts' blissfully yummy donut selection is without a doubt some of the best donuts I've ever had. They're light, airy and fresh! Their dozen boxes are well priced and they're always so nice! We love Mr. Donuts and are officially off the market when it comes to out donut dating:) read more

I live in Carlsbad Village, so there are seven to 10 donut places that are closer than this one. I go here because my fiancé said this place uses clean oil. She can't taste old oil, used to cook generations of donuts like some places do. After she said it, I realized she was right. This place definitely has the best tasting donuts around. I always see the same two people working there, a middle-aged man and woman of Asiatic descent. Always smiling, very kind, I feel like they enjoy their job and enjoy the interaction with the community. It shows in how they treat people. Five stars all day long for this place!! Bobby W. Wow.... wow Ok where to start, every now and then something just sparks a memory from your childhood and this place brought back a memory that I long forgotten. Long story short, leaving Germany after my father was stationed there as a child the last thing I ate was a croissant. I remember how flakey it was and the creamy cheese inside. It was made perfectly.... perfectly. I thought about that croissant for years. Now for those Michelin restaurant go'ers .... ok this wasn't baked by a pastry chef that baked for the queen. However....this was a great croissant!! It was about 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall, the cheese inside melted perfectly. Soooo flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. It was simply delicious. I wouldn't call this place a whole in the wall but it's not a Starbucks. The owner was quick polite and efficient. I haven't thought about that day when I left Germany but this croissant brought back a wonderful family memory. Sorry. No idea how the doughnuts taste I'm more of a croissant guy. read more

I went in this morning. Evidently there is a new owner. The ham and cheese croissant was the biggest I've eer seen and was still warm as opposed to having to be warmed. The maple crueller was fresh, light, and airy. Great experience. Beats Dunkin' Donuts down the street by 1000% read more

This is my favorite donut shop. The owner is friendly, the prices are fair, and the donuts are great. We've been coming here for about two years and have had so many donuts and can definitely say his are the best. We liked his donuts so much that we ordered ~100 donuts for our wedding. The owners are super friendly! I came in one day in the afternoon and they still had a good amount of choices to choose from. I grabbed a couple of donuts for my friends and got a coupe of mini croissants for myself. My friends said that the donuts were fresh and didn't have that greasy stale taste. Admittedly, I got the mini croissants because they were so cute! They add thick grains of sugar on the top a little which makes a difference. I have been going to this doughnut shop for the better part of a year. Sometimes I go three or more times a week. I really love the menu with all the breakfast and croissant sandwiches. You literally have about 12 different types to choose from everything from sausage, egg, bacon and cheese. Prices are good and the customer service is top notch. Sometimes there is even a small line. The only downside to this place is the $.50 debit card charge I really don't like that. I know it's just a small doughnut shop but it sucks to get charged as my bank isn't close by and I go here so frequently because it's literally 100 paces from my apartment. The doughnut selection could also be a bit more plentiful - picking a dozen can sometimes be tricky and when you do it all but wipes out what they have on hand so if someone did the same just before you pickins might be slim! These really are minor gripes and I absolutely love this donut shop. The donuts are pretty good, but the sandwiches are amazing! read more

The food is good. Just a complaint I have. Customer service is always important whether donuts or prime rib. Today I waited patiently while the customer in front of me ordered and was served. Then I ordered simple coffee and croissant. I waited. The customer who came in several minutes after me ordered and selected a dozen donuts, stepped in front of me, pulled out his CREDIT CARD, and the staff served him first while I waited with my $20 bill in hand. My food sat on the counter. Quite disappointing. read more

Tried them for the first time today, i always get chocolate donuts wherever i go. But not all places have good chocolate.. Mr Donuts have VERY good chocolate and their donuts are so delicious. I will be back! My 5 year old son loved it too. Good customer service too, very patient while my little one took a while to decide what to get. read more

My husband and I each got a breakfast sandwich. We were running different errands so were in separate cars. They had marked the sandwiches incorrectly so we took the wrong ones. We could have checked but that's not my main issue. Maybe my husband read the menu wrong but he ordered the 3 and when I went to eat it (since bags were switched) it was only sausage and bacon. There was no egg in the sandwich. The meat was still good but it was disappointing. read more

UPDATE: Since my last visit I decided to give it another try because the other donut place I was going to didn't make sandwiches. I am so glad I came back!!! The sandwiches are fresh and always taste great! I think they must have just had an off day the first time I was there because now their donuts taste just fine. They greet me whenever I come in with the biggest smiles on, I really appreciate that. Their prices are very fair, the owners are incredibly sweet and even when I don't get in there until 11AM they still have a fair selection on hand. Now my husband and i come here every weekend for a sandwich and donut. And donut holes for our girls. I didn't want to go to McDonald's for breakfast, and it was right at the exit I pulled off of on I-5 freeway. So I drove down Oceanside Blvd, and saw this place. My ONLY complaint, is they had blueberry muffins listed on the menu, but didn't have any. They did have a good selection of other things, and I was impressed the line went quickly. The two employees were very friendly and helpful. I merely ordered a chocolate devils food, and an onion bagel with cream cheese. As he toasted the bagel, I ate the donut. I may have never had a fresher donut in my life! It was delicious, as was the bagel...and I think it was a mere $2.50. Can't beat that. It's probably good I don't live near this place or I'd be there each morning. read more

My kiddo and I have a "usual" donut shop just down the road from this shop, but to our dismay it was closed due to some undisclosed reason, and since that day was mine and my son's monthly "donut morning" (and you don't just cancel donut morning), I looked for the next closest donut place in the area and Mr. Donuts was it! (You're a Godsend, Mr. Donuts!) Tiny shop, tasty donuts! I'm talking your usual, across the board selection of donuts; nothing too standoutish -that's okay because the prices are fair and the donuts are GOOD! Fresh and sweet, just the way me and my 3 year old like them! My genetic replica nom'ed on a sprinkle donut while I enjoyed a sugar twist! Don't forget the milk! Heads up, pay with a card and you'll be charged a little extra. The owner (I presume) was soft-spoken, but friendly enough! Not too big on making conversation, but I'll let that slide. (I talk too much anyway). The morning of our visit, it was slow, just me and my offspring at one table and a group of 3 older ladies across from us, and the owner sitting quietly behind his register. The donuts look nice but they've been sitting out and are stale. The same with crossaint I had. I would not go back here anymore. Awful experience. Drove out of my way to come here today. The cashier let me know that the apple fritters I was looking at were fresh out of the oven and still warm, so I had to try those and they were the best apple fritters I've ever had! (Fresh is always better, of course). But we also tried their blueberry cake donuts, maple bars, glazed old fashions, and a few others and all were very soft, luscious, and just a perfect version of that type of donut. I have high standards for baked goods and it only took touching one of their classic sugar covered donuts and feeling just how pillowy soft it was to know they have an amazing rise and fantastic quality. I will be returning here from now on for all my donuts!! The shop is cute inside too. They have small tables for eating your purchase afterwards and offer coffee and tea. It doesn't feel like you're in the way here and the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. No critiques whatsoever!

Unfortunately, his favorite, the Buttermilk Bar and Powdered Sugar were TOO DRY to even eat. We threw them in the trash. The Boston Cream was really good however.
