    Fried Green Tomatoes
    Anna W.

It was my first time going here and overall I enjoyed it! The fried green tomatoes were pretty good and I got the pot roast which was yummy as well. Very filling and I had enough left over to take home too. The place was a lot bigger than I expected and had a unique vibe to it. Service was great and was seated very quickly on a week day!

The place was clean, and the staff were very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for someone to take our order, and the food came out pretty quickly. The taco salad was just okay , my husband liked it more than I did, but it wasn't something I'd personally crave. The burger, however, was great ! The meat was cooked just right , juicy and tender. The French fries were very flavorful, though slightly on the oily side. For dessert, I tried the cheesecake brûlée and really enjoyed it. The top was nicely burnt, just the way it should be. I also ordered the sangria , I have to say it wasn't really my taste, but my husband liked it since it was on the stronger side. Overall, a good experience and I wouldn't be opposed to coming back .

Begin my review with a huge shoutout to Cade! Not only did he put us at ease as this was our first visit here but when we mixed up on our order he so sweetly corrected it and got us exactly what we had wanted and ordered in the first place! Just to be clear I am looking forward to coming back just for the human interaction with Cabe and other staff as they were all so courteous and friendly! Next about the ambience : it was unusually warm for a winter eve, so we decided to sit out in the patio and boy did we thoroughly enjoy watching the sunsets over the horizon - some deep pink colors amongst others! Finally about the food- we were blown away by the quality AND quantity of food in each dish we ordered. We started off with some chilled beers and half order of Fried Green Tomatoes which were made so well! Next we ordered the Sweet n Heat burger which we got split in half to share. The burger was perfectly medium rare and a huge portion with some real crispy fries. We were full by the time we finished our portions But We had also ordered the Pot Roast with Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes n Gravy, again split to share! Delectable as it was, we were overstuffed by then, so we decided to take most of it as to go to relish the next day. Do note - all the splits were free and provided with a smile ! We are definitely coming back as we heard they make a wonderful Blackened Chicken Alfredo with pasta but only served as a special on some weekends! Anyway all their dishes are fresh, tasty and in huge portions and priced very correctly so hardly a reason not to return!

We wanted to try burger so thought of trying this place out ... we chose to sit outside as it was little warm in the evening glad we chose outside had amazing sunset views.. Cabe was our server he went through their specials we decided to go for some beers Dallas Blonde & Voodoo Ranger IPA along with Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer since we are in Texas & wanted to try it for quite some time... it was crunchy, delicious went very well with their ranch sauce. For our main course we chose- The Sweet and Heat Burger - 7 oz. hamburger with mayo, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, sautéed jalapeño, and onion on a jalapeño sourdough bun with fries. Slow Cooked Pot Roast - Slow-cooked for hours, hand-shredded, and topped with brown gravy. Along with 2 sides Asparagus & mashed potatoes with gravy. We loved the burger it was juicy, flavorful & nice portions & the fries were very crunchy. It's been a while since we had a good burger so we really enjoyed it... I must say it really had a nice spicy kick to it... never had jalapeno sourdough bun it brought out all the various flavors & this was perfect !!! Both the dishes were delicious. Since we were full by that time we chose to pack Pot roast to have it for later... Since we were sharing so we asked both the orders to be split which they did very graciously. Enjoyed our dinner with nice service & amazing sunset.

Great food, service and atmosphere. If you are a Texas Tech alum you'll love cheese sticks and the fried Oreos for dessert take you to the State Fair without all the walking. Great fried green tomatoes! Meatloaf is delicious as well as the Chicken Fried Steak. Definitely a special place online McKinney.

We stumbled upon this restaurant, looking for dinner on a Friday night. We got there around 8:30 PM and there was a little to no wait! The server got us seated immediately and service was quick and efficient! I had the chicken parm with the side of parmesan truffle fries! My meal was absolutely delicious with generous portions! I ended up taking half of the chicken parm and fries home! The chicken parm was breaded wonderfully and maintained it crisp even with the marinara sauce pour on top. The truffle fries in my opinion are also a must! The flavors were great, and the fries are delicious! My husband had the chicken fried steak with a side of mashed potatoes and tater tots. The breading on the chicken fried steak was good, but the steak itself seemed overcooked. The gravy and the potatoes are delicious, and tater tots were crispy. He also got an old-fashioned bar and was raving about how good it was! I opted to get a soda, but unfortunately, it seemed a little flat! Overall we will definitely be back to this spot to explore the rest of the menu!

Such a chill vibe and the service was super fast! Bonus points for the owners being Texas tech alums. I got the chicken sandwich and the chicken was juicy, the buns were soft and toasted, and the pickles gave it a nice bite. The sweet potato fries were also great!

Met at the doors and then seated. Our waitress Crystal from Guatemala was very attentive and made sure we didn't run out of anything. Very friendly and cozy atmosphere. I had the pot roast which was absolutely delicious, sweet potato fries, and a house salad. The only thing I would say is the banana pudding needed more bananas.

I love the dimmed lights and homey yet upscale feeling this place gives. We had a really amazing server who offered up some great recommendations as first time customers. She had only been there two weeks, but told us she went through a two week training prior so they know their stuff!! Don't be afraid to ask questions. How I would rate our meal: Drinks: I got the amethyst dream and he got the smoke haus. Presentation of both was really nice, enjoyed both drinks but would probably try something different on our next visit. Appetizer: we got the Caesar salad to share. Loved the croutons and the dressing. It seemed a bit small but possibly for one person it would be enough! Entree: I got the crispy chicken breast, the piece of chicken is huge!! All the flavors of the dish come together so well, it's truly one of my most favorite things I've eaten recently! We also tried a side of mashed potatoes which were good and my fiancé got the red fish which he enjoyed. It is pretty light though, so maybe wouldn't recommend if you're REALLY hungry. Dessert: we got the milk and cookies. I wasn't honestly too impressed. I think I expected them to be warmed and gooey and they were not. However reheating the chocolate chip at home was good! For it being a farm to table restaurant, I found the prices to be very reasonable! I already know what I plan to order on our next visit. Also looking forward to bringing some friends/family to the third floor for drinks and live music!

We started out sharing the deviled eggs and fried shrimp. Both very tasty. SIL got the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. Brother got the roasted half chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. He said it was really good. Not dry at all. Hubby and I both got the Creole pan seared shrimp. The shrimp were very small but the overall flavor was very good. We will definitely be back.

Our server was attentive and you could tell that a lot of locals swing by because she knew a lot of people coming in. The seating is first come first serve so be prepared for that. They have patio seating for those that want to enjoy the outside. The inside has a bar and plenty of tables. It can be a tight squeeze at some tables but makes it feel more homey. For food I had the breakfast sandwich and it was good. Pretty basic but everything from the toppings to the eggs were fresh and cooked well. The pancake was good and big so glad I tried it. Overall it's a great local spot that I will check out again.

We love downtown McKinney and so many establishments have that southern charm, friendly service, and just love people. We always bring in a group of paying patrons. Early on we felt there was a clickish vibe, but never thought anything about it. We make friends everywhere, since we are travelers . Last few months we noticed a shift, bartender ruder, lack of service, the regulars shifting their gaze as if something was wrong. Last night ended that for us, and I'm sure they will be thrilled. Our bonus son chose to come here for his celebratory event. We invited a variety of people we knew, local talents, professionals, and family. Hateful comments about having a few balloons and party hats and how "you BETTER clean all that UP, I'm not doing it." We were treated with disdain. No service, each person had to get our own menu when we were ready to order, , and silverware after food was served, no one took our drink orders, when we went to the bar-our tabs were closed after each drink order. The bartender, Chevon, (who is always there) was rude and ugly to our whole group and to those she didn't even know was in our group. The new DJ, (Shawn) skipped over our friend twice. Chevron (bartender) who didn't know the person she was speaking to was my sister, said "I hate that guy, all he sings is rock songs." I mean... it karaoke. And that guy she's talking about has been bringing a group of people here for over a year. So carry on the "high school drama" there are a ton of places in McKinney that are lovely and welcoming. When you are hateful to singers, doctors, nurses, business owners, and veterans... that news will travel fast. And as rude and ugly as this review is, it's not near as rude or ugly as we were treated, individually and as a group. If you are gonna be bias to people, you don't need to be serving them. It's sad, because I know Karen and what Spoons means to her and her family. I hope they clean house and start over in the back. FYI (Shawn was a really nice DJ, he was so kind to people celebrating others.) But other than that, I wouldn't recommend The Garage for any new Collin County resident, any bridal party, bachelor party, or group celebrating anything... you can DM me and I'll give you a personal list of plenty of places to go. Many of them walking distance.

Met friends for early drinks and dinner around 5pm. Waitress took our drink orders and we waited about 15 min before we flagged her down. We watched from our table as the bar staff moved without urgency, and one of the folks in our party seemed to witness other waitstaff going behind the bar to make their own drinks. Our waitress assured us they were coming and she went to get an update. We asked for the manager, and shared the above disappointment with her. It took another 5-7 min to actually get the drinks (likely after the manager lit a fire). She was kind enough to comp our appetizers. We contemplated leaving at that point but decided to stay hoping things would improve. After we finished the appetizers we ordered another round and our food. The drinks arrived sooner than the 20 min but the food came out first. The restaurant and bar were about half full. If it was packed we could understand - but not with plenty of empty tables. The 1 star is ONLY for the food which came out in good time and met our expectations. The only delay was waiting on dressing for a Cobb salad. Otherwise it made up for the terrible bar service. All 6 of us had been there previously at various times without issue, but last night's debacle ensured none of us will ever return. There are too many other places/chains with similar food/bar atmosphere that will appreciate our money.
