I ordered the Gang Kiew Warn....green curry herb with bamboo strips, eggplant, fresh basil, zucchini, and serrano simmered in coconut milk -- and I added chicken and shrimp because we don't do halfway over here. If we're eating, we're eating. Let me tell you something. The balance? On point. Just enough coconut milk to make it silky without drowning the dish. Just enough serrano to whisper heat instead of scream at you. The zucchini, eggplant, and bamboo strips all held their own -- nothing mushy, nothing fighting for attention. Every bite felt intentional and served with white rice. It was pickup, but I stepped inside to grab my order, and that place was spotless. Clean like somebody's mama was doing inspections. The atmosphere is a not exactly conducive to large groups, but given the darkly lit, intimate ambiance, I would give the nod to date and small groups. Parking isn't an issue but the weekend wait times are real. There is an upscale feel, but a casual vibe at the same time. Food wise, everything I managed to sample was on point. From standard dishes like pad kee mao, pad thai, and pad see yu to things like kau soi 360. or their fried polenta crab cakes. I thoroughly enjoyed the crispy chili wings as well as their flavorful massaman curry. The only thing that was off was the service. My group and I waited to be seated for close to an hour, only to wait a bit more to be served. I realize that it was a busy night but water refills were slow and even getting the bill was a bit of a chore. We had to flag down our server for all sorts of things, but having to do that meant it wasn't the most ideal of experiences. The best local Thai spot! Love coming here - dining in is always a cozy and relaxing experience and the takeout is fast and convenient too! For dining in, the service is always nice and there's never too long of a wait. I love the decor and it's the perfect casual date spot. This is one of those places that is easy to miss but absolutely wonderful if you stop to eat here. We had a fantastic group lunch (9 people)! We shared satay gai, and then several dishes, like ta-lay dancing and pad kra prao. The service was great and everyone had a great meal. There is plenty of parking and a bus stop not too far away. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The wait times are horrendous. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait but we ended waiting for almost an hour. Our table ordered Tom-Ka (chicken), Pad See Eiw (chicken), Pad Woon Sen (chicken), and Fried Tofu. All the main dishes were delicious, but the Fried Tofu left much to be desired. It had zero flavor. Even the sauce couldn't save it. One Pad See Eiw was supposed to have been mild and the other no spice and both turned out to be the same (no spice). The service was also just ok. They didn't check up on us for a while and also took a while to bring some items that were needed for our dinner. Not overly sweet, not too salty, just balanced and really satisfying. The noodles are never squishy, which I appreciate more than I should. I'm a regular here and usually enjoy this place, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I decided to try a new menu item, the Fisherman's Soup, and unfortunately it was one of the worst soups I've had. The server mentioned it was spicy, but said it wasn't that bad and that it was good. In reality, it was extremely spicy to the point where it was unpleasant, and it didn't seem to have much flavor besides the overwhelming spice. What made it worse was the portion and quality for the price. The soup about $20 and had barely any ingredients -- about 5 pieces of shrimp, 2 mussels, and 2 small pieces of fish that didn't taste very fresh. Rice is also extra. I was with a group of 8 people and everyone tried it out of curiosity, and we were all surprised by how intense and unbalanced the soup was. What also disappointed me was the service. When my friend politely mentioned that the soup was too spicy for me, the response from the server was simply "I said that." There was no effort to suggest a solution or help in any way. The attitude came across as dismissive, which made the situation worse. I've liked this restaurant in the past, so this was unfortunate. Classic Thai food with classic Thai flavor, and my partner, her cousin, and I really enjoyed the courteous service that our server offered us throughout our dining experience. I don't have a lot of comments about this one, so I will just leave what I can! We ordered quite a few first bites, and they were all pretty good. The wings had good marinated flavor from the lemongrass, garlic, and peppercorns. The taro fritter was like fries made with taro, and it was an interesting experience that I simply treated as eating fries eventually. The crab cakes were solid as well, as I could taste sweet corn and eggs in them, and the spicy mustard aioli on the side worked well. I ordered two bowls, one containing tom yum, and one containing tom kha. I enjoyed tom kha a lot and thought it was the perfect amount of coconut milk included, and the effects of galangal, lemongrass, lime, and chili were obvious. Tom yum was okay, as I thought there was a bit too much chili, but I understood that it was supposed to be that way and it was my spicy tolerance that posed an issue. They offered a lot of tofu which was great. I do have to point out that my partner's cousin ordered the tom yum fried rice but was served crab meat fried rice instead. We ended up just letting it slide, but would like to mention that it happened. The crab fried rice could use a bit more seasoning. The flavor wasn't quite there, unfortunately. One more thing that might help elevate the experience was coconut water, if we could have a real coconut instead of an existing carton. But this is just me proposing something that could be potentially unrealistic and it is only because I have seen other places do it. We were seated almost immediately (party of 2), service was fast and our food came out quickly. Depending on where you're seated, the tables between parties might be placed a tad close but this is a really minor detail. Still one of the better sit down Thai restaurants in central austin with quite a good following. I have so many memories eating here and the food is still quite good. I'm also glad that they aren't totally focused on take out and delivery - although you can order food to go here and its really good. Get here when they open because they usually fill up really fast. I ordered the Yum Woo Sen which a room temperature version of Pad Woo Sen (glass noodles) so it is very refreshing for a very warm spring day. The tom yum soup is spicy as well. I washed everything down with a couple of Singha beers too. I know there are other places in town that now serve more regional Thai cuisine but if you are looking to dine in with a variety of thai dishes and you are in central austin this is a good choice. read more

I'll start off the review by saying the food was really good. I really enjoyed the dishes we got, they were packed with flavor. Now getting into the service, I didn't have a great experience. We walked in around 8pm and noticed that there was no one at the table to have us seated. Right behind us, a couple more people came in and sat down in the waiting area. We waited 5 minutes and a server came by to have us seated. She looked at us and immediately asked if we were the first people in line. I was caught off guard but said yes, to which she responded with "are you sure?" Honestly, I was disappointed with that service. I also think that she wouldn't have asked the other people who were waiting if they were up first. That interaction felt a little racially motivated. When we answered her back with a "yes," she looked us up and down and shrugged and said ok. Even while asking for our order, I felt some judgy energy coming off of her.
