For means I had the filet mignon and my husband had the New York strip steak. My steak was perfectly cooked and soft. The New York strip steak was also good but I have had better. Stayed at the Hilton for a conference and decided on a late night dinner here. A lot of us had the same idea, so it was a bit crowded lol. Our waitress was great! Friendly, checked in frequently and was also the bartender? How she can do all that and still smile and be efficient is impressive! Food - steak was a solid 4/5. Great cut, cooked well with a very fair price point for the quality of the cut. Everything else was meh. The poutine was too soggy with flavors that were lacking. The Ceasar salad was the worst I've ever had. For a steakhouse, that's shocking. It tasted like an Italian salad with some ceasar dressing thrown in. I honestly should have requested that it be sent back since the lettuce looked wilted, but we were tired and didn't want to make a fuss. Drinks were excellent - made by our waitress. I hated this restaurant Unreal. Ordered a martini, it was half full. Ordered a carrot tart. Unavailable I specifically said I want I wanted to order the veal Pepperdale for dinner and I told the server to let the kitchen know that I wanted a Panna cotta for dessert that's a save one . He looked me dead in the face and said "i don't work back there" He continues to grunt, clear his throat and mumble whatever the hell he was doing... and then at the end of dinner presents the dessert menu and tells me that the Panna cotta is not available either After my husband said that he wanted to get the crème brûlée UN REAL. Love the ribeye! I've only been in town two weeks and have eaten here 3 times! Yes, it's located in the Hilton, but very worth the trip. Have I mentioned the ribeye? Not sure how it's seasoned but it's perfect. You can add scallops or bacon or crab to it as well as other options. I also really like that side of the bar, it's located opposite their other restaurant and it feels like a different room all together. The waiter was extremely kind and welcoming. My family doesn't do high-end very often, I'm sure it was obvious, but he was patient and explained the process and the menu. We were celebrating my sister's award and he made sure to highlight this throughout the evening, making her feel special. It was clean, well-lit, just loud enough to be comfortable, and it wasn't too cold inside. The wild mushrooms and pearl onion dish was easily the best thing anyone at the table received, followed by the sweet potato, duck, and corn chowder. Of course, the bread and butter highlighted everything. However, I ordered the dry-age NY strip, medium-rare. I emphasized to the waiter that I wanted it on the rare side, it arrived medium-well, dry, and very bland. A few of our party had meat that was significantly overcooked and the waiter was nice enough to take their plates back to be re-made. I also asked, but he forgot to come back for mine. I asked another employee who said they would find my server, but I think they forgot too. He brought everyone else back and I grabbed his attention, but he said he was carrying something for another table and moved on then forgot to come back. By the time I saw him again most people were done eating, not wanting to hold everyone back I decided to eat the one I had. It was bland and dry so I didn't have much. I know I could have persisted and they probably would have fixed me a new steak, but I feel like I was putting more effort into getting my meal fixed than I should have for the price I was paying. 1700° Steakhouse exceeded our expectations! I wasn't too confident going in since the reviews weren't all great, but I was pleasantly surprised! We started with the bone marrow, which was good but didn't have a lot of marrow to scoop. Then we split the Prime Dry-Aged 40 oz. Porterhouse, prepared the 1700° way, with a side of mushrooms that were so buttery and delicious. My martini was perfect, and our waiter was incredibly kind, even comping our dessert--a wonderful crème brûlée--since it was our anniversary. Didn't order again after the guy sitting next to me had his filet delivered and that was over cooked too. They took the steak off the bill. They probably should have offered to comp the whole meal. I feel like the past few months I've been searching out Steak Houses to dine. How can you be in a bad mood when you come to a steakhouse? It's celebratory and makes me a happy pappy. Just arriving in Harrisburg, I headed straight to 1700 steakhouse. The front desk person steered me to the dining room. It felt a little too stuffy so I asked for a high top at the bar. Once seated, the bartender came around the bar and gave me an iPad with both the cocktail and food menu. It's a 3 olive starter for sure so I asked for a Gin cocktail. The bar is substantial so I told him a few Gins I drink. He recommended a Gin made in Philadelphia. I'm down to clown, get to mixing buddy! Out was brought to me was a perfect Gin martini, stirred and not shaken. The Gin he recommended wasn't too heavy on the Juniper berries, it was a nice choice. The Rib Eye I ordered, I chose for a side dish the asparagus and egg dish. The chef made the yolk into a steak sauce. Very chef'd up and creative side that complemented the rib eye. The Rib Eye had a nice charr and flavor! The dish was cooked very well, the steak was a nice quality cut. My only issue? The bartender / waiter put me on the pay no mind list. I never heard from this guy after everything was brought to me. I could see him hustling behind the bar. The ambiance is interesting b/c, while the decor and lighting are nice, the music and view left much to be desired. We sat in the dining area behind the first bar and over-looking the patio area. The music was bland rock hits of the 80s/90s. I would have thought they'd go with classical or maybe just instrumental. Both my husband and I liked that the menu was digital and very detailed. You tap on any item you are interested in and it gave descriptions, prices, and pictures. We started with the bone marrow and oysters. The oysters were small, but fresh. What annoyed me was that it wasn't listed anywhere what type of oysters or where they originated. The bone marrow was wonderful, but very little marrow on the piece we had. If it weren't for the addition of the short rib to this dish, it would be pretty disappointing for $17. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon and chose the fontina & truffle preparation. I also added seared foie gras to it. My steak was cooked perfectly but could have used a touch more salt. I loved the fontina cheese croquette and was curious to try the patty pan squash that came with it. The black truffle was shaved nicely and there was a decent amount all around the dish. My husband ordered the 16oz prime ribeye and the 1700 preparation and an addition of broccolini. He was slightly disappointed in his steak. The seasoning was too minimal and the meat was not as flavorful as you'd expect from a top steakhouse. He said it was better than average, but he has had better elsewhere. The house made Worcestershire sauce saved the dish. They gave us two chocolate-covered strawberries as a complimentary anniversary treat. They were fresh and yummy. We also ordered a Meyer lemon tart to share. I was expecting more flavor from the lavender shortbread, but loved the very strong lemon flavor and the additions of meringue pieces, cashew and raspberry gelee. Our server was nice, but there were long gaps before returning to us. There was a lapse in between cocktails, but that was remedied by our ordering a bottle of wine. My boyfriend and I had dinner here this past Friday. We're actually from Long Island but come out to PA twice a year. This steakhouse is actually located inside the Hilton which made it a little hard to find but nothing a quick phone call to the restaurant didn't solve. Our server Rob was attentive and was able to answer any questions we had about the menu. We started with the duck and burrata that was absolutely delicious then for our main course we ordered the porterhouse for two and the steak was like butter! I got the tomahawk steak being is was my birthday and my favorite part is you get to choose the knife you want! They have different styles from smaller more decorative to a giant knife that is almost buoy knife-esque which of course I had to choose to go along with my huge steak. One extra plus is the great location right in the heart of downtown Harrisburg inside the Hilton. If you are in town for a concert or show in Harrisburg or Hershey, you might have a chance to run into whomever you are going to see as this is the go to spot for high profile musicians and celebrities to stay! read more

Steak: 4.25/5 Cocktails: 3.95/5 I am independently rating the most important items (subjective - my favorite parts of any meal) and the rest just including in the following paragraph. I heard from the table the bone in filet was amazing - since I did not get the filet I don't have a review but it looked good. I thought the ribeye was very good - especially for the area. It wasn't my favorite of all time, but I eat a lot of steaks and I can truthfully say it was very good. The Mac and cheese side was good not great. My brother was disappointed in it more than I was - but I could understand his grievances. It was just mild-ish cheese, no wow flavor, and the truffle oil was pretty prominent. (We are not a huge fan of truffle oil in Mac and cheese). Again though, I thought it was good - and I think my brother would say it was "ok." The bone marrow was disappointing - it wasn't "bad" per se, but it was not really what I would consider bone marrow. There was some sort of brisket on top of very little bone marrow.... I'm not sure what was going on there. The flavor was good for both but the very little bone marrow that came with it made me decide if I come back I will not order it. The cocktails, oh the cocktails. I think really good effort for Harrisburg. I ordered a cosmo and told the waiter "tell the bartender I like tart and not sweet!" So I made the effort, knowing that the regular clientele liked it sweeter. It still came back a tad sweet - a tad too sweet I should say. I still enjoyed it! Lemon drop same feedback. I think the lemon drop was better, though. Relative to other restaurants in the area, these cocktails were very very good. All in all for the area this is a very good restaurant. We've been here probably 4 times over the 3 years. It's generally amazing. The last time was amazing. But this time the food was underwhelming (and even bad in one instance) and it had very long wait times for food. Last time we had they Wagyu beef, which was a special. Amazing. This time I had the Ribeye (Angus? Not sure) instead of the Filet Mignon. I thought I would give it a shot. Mistake. It was very good, but it was still a Ribeye. Nothing extraordinary and a touch chewy. The service was sub-par for what you would expect for what you are paying. Our waiter took just way too long to get to us because the kitchen was slow or understaffed I suspect. We got there at 6:45PM and didn't leave until a tich past 9PM. They were having a cigar and wine auction outside to benefit the Whitaker Center (in this crazy hot weather!) and that may have taken a waiter or so off the floor as well as diverting cooking capabilities. However, our waiter could have just come by and reassured us a bit of whatever the sitch was. He did not even though when he did drop by he was attentive. The bread service was, frankly, very bad. It was toasted cornbread but tasted very little like it - no sweetness, in fact, it was SUPER, almost disgustingly salty. The drink was great - Shelbyville Sidecar - it was a lemon whiskey sour - amazing! So, basically, we paid a lot to have an outstanding drink this go around. However, like all steak, in my experience, it was even better the next day. In spite of the good experiences we've had over the years, I don't think I'll be back. 1700 degrees will always have warm bloody spot in my steak loving heart. I ordered the Certified Angus Filet Mignon 8 oz topped with Point Reyes Blue Cheese. The steak was well seasoned and cooked medium to perfection. You can't do Filet Mignon without a Butter Poached Lobster Tail 5 oz. It melted away in my mouth like buttter. My vegetable was a side of asparagus and very delicious. Overall very pleased with the food and customer service. Extra points for keeping the fresh warm bread coming. This is was a great place to come for a celebration dinner. My boyfriend and I had our anniversary dinner here. I love the fact that the hotel offers valet parking to guest of the restaurant. Our table was ready on time even though it was a busy holiday weekend. Our server was knowledgeable and took our after answering a few questions. I got the wagu filet and my company had the wagu strip. Both were done to perfection. The thing that made my steak even more wonderful was that it was topped with two strips of thick sliced bacon. The bacon was heavenly. For sides we ordered mixed veggies and the lobster Mac which were both good and served in portions meant to share. The experience at the restaurant was definitely A+. Ah definitely the only "upscale steakhouse" in the Harrisburg area. Great cuts and Dry Age options, which aren't easy to find in the 717. Typically love the dry age NY Strip and the 1700 salad is spot on. However been pretty disappointed our last few visits. Steaks have either been over or under done. In fact the last visit the miss' steak was underdone & we typically don't send things back. But to our surprise they just threw the already cut steak back on the broiler/grill and sent it back over done (I mean we're taking about a $65/steak?!?). It was bit shocking really! The "local Wagyu" options aren't really worth the up charge/price of admission in our opinion either. Stick to the regular cut options. 1700 definitely worth the try though! Cheers! read more
