This is really a 4.5. Thank you Yelpers. After a week of shrimp and grits on our southern city tour, I was craving something light and healthy. This place was awesome. I took another Yelpers suggestion and did the oat milk latte. I would have loved that in a real cup plus they left the little spoon in it accidentally. My granola yogurt and fruit was spot on but could have used just a bit more fruit. Hubby got the pesto veggie sandwich. He could only eat 1/2. And the chia pudding with brown sugar and oat milk was simply delicious. Gonna try and see if I can remake that. Other pastries looked amazing and that goat cheese, spinach and mushroom quiche has me regretting that I didn't get it. Next time. Oh and they sell these amazing cocktail jars where you add your choice of liquor to the dried ingredients and let it sit for 3 days. Stay tuned for an update on that. $25 but it makes 8 cocktails. I went here with my wife recently on a Sunday morning before heading back to Orlando. It was on my list of things to do in town while we were visiting and we miraculously woke up early enough to have a brunch. I got a pesto LT (you can get B on it too) and it was great! The pesto and bread were especially good. I kind of messed up though because my wife got a grilled cheese which I kind of liked better. Only barely though because, like I said, that pesto! I also got a side of potatoes which helped me forget any jealousy from the grilled cheese. I also got a cold brew coffee which was particularly amazing. If I lived around here this would surely be a place I'd get coffee from regularly. We sat outside because it was a vice day, but the inside looked pretty cramped to me. Once Covid concerns are over, I'd probably see that as delightfully cozy. They did have hand sanitizer on hand (I mean, available, you had to put it on your own hands) and they seemed to be practicing all the right precautions, but my wife and I easily opted to sit outside. There were also only a couple of tables out there too so I'd wager this place gets crowded quick during peak hours. Anyway, that didn't deter us from the great food. Cute and delicious place--I'd highly recommend checking it out. read more

First the positives: the pastry and coffee I had were quite good, and the innards of my pastrami sandwich were also good--notably the sauerkraut tasted homemade. Unfortunately, there was one glaring problem. I am a sourdough baker by trade and could tell right away that their "sourdough" breads were not real sourdough. They are normal yeast breads with citric acid added to them to introduce a cheap sour flavor. Thus the bread lacks any of the depth of flavor or nutritional benefits of real sourdough. I was looking forward to eating here because I thought it would be a very ethically run business based on their signage supporting social justice causes. Sadly, there is nothing ethical about charging serious sourdough prices for low quality bread. I also found their Covid-19 precautions to be a mixed bag, as they rightfully enforced masks, but crammed a bunch of tables close together that make a mockery of social distancing. Again, I question the ethics. read more

What a wonderful, cozy and sweet gem in historic Springfield - I love this place! My daughter convinced me to try it so I headed over with my hubby for a light lunch which turned into a small shopping spree. I couldn't resist the wooden tasting spoons , herb compound butter , apple caramel pastries , chocolate chip pecan cookies and the blueberry pecan granola ! We decided to order the chicken salad sandwich and the panzanella salad (I had this in Florence , Italy and its is a favorite of mine). Both were so delicious as was the mushroom flatbread we split as an appetizer. We left so satisfied and can't wait to go back again. We ate inside which was so charming and wish their business much success as it's definitely a big plus for Jacksonville to have them here! P.S. if you have time , drive around the neighborhood to see all the beautiful old homes being restored . read more

1748 never disappoints! Great coffee drinks, excellent pastries and baked goods - I can never leave without taking some home for later. The blueberry cheesecake tart was delicious last week. They also offer wine and prepared foods to take away. My only complaint is that they aren't open for dinner! read more

Came in based off of someone's recommendation. I came in about 1.5 hours before they closed and they had a few bakery case items still left. Not too much but that's expected since it was close to their closing time of 4:00pm. I ended up getting their Nutella brownie and a strawberry berry muffin. Both were really good. The brownie was chocolatey and chewy on the edges. The muffin was a really good size and it had this crunchy sweet top with a little bit of an icing glaze. It was really good. The only thing I didn't like about it was that they baked a big chunk of strawberry into it. It made the bite of muffin wet and mushy which was a bit of a turn off but, other than that one bite, the muffin was overall really tasty. They seemed to have a bunch of other menu offerings and they were actively baking things for the next day. I also appreciated that the staff were all wearing their face masks the right way. They also had sanitized pens to help you sign the iPad that they use for payment and they had hand sanitizer stations around the place which was a huge plus for me. Definitely plan to go here again, especially since it's right on my way out of work. :-) read more

I had the privilege of sampling 1748 Bakehouse's food at an event at Hyperion Brewery tonight and wow, is it good. Allison and Kurt have a vision and their food is simply wonderful. They are committed to locally sourced, made from scratch and delicious products. I failed at getting photos, as I was the hostess for the Where Wednesday event this evening, but it looked really great. They are in the process of opening their "brick and mortar" right next door to Hyperion in Springfield and I know they are going to be tremendously successful. For now, you can find them at RAM every weekend, so go check them out. Really good food! read more

First time visiting this cute little hidden spot and I'm in love. The service is wonderful, I have yet to try the lunch menu but I can guarantee it's worth it! Stellar everything. I dream of that breakfast sandwich on sourdough with kimchi added. Every single item is fresh, made from top notch ingredients with nary a preservative laden unmentionable. You can literally taste the love and this kind of love isn't toxic. It's wholesome and leaves you glowing and healthy. I recommend you get there early if you want the best selection from the bakery case because these delectables fly off the shelf. Really dug this spot. My wife and I had breakfast on a wet, Saturday morning. She had a cinnamon roll and Iced vanilla latte, while I had a latte and Brie, apple, ham, and fig pastry. We also split a breakfast sandwich which had bacon, egg, greens, and cheddar with a smoky mayo. Why wife is a sweets head so she longed for a bit more icing on the cinnamon roll but as a savory guy, I loved it. My Brie pastry was incredible. Both lattes were quite good. The sandwich was simple but delicious, especially the fresh baked sourdough. Great to ambiance in an up and coming neighborhood. It was great seeing people from each of the local businesses grabbing a coffee and breakfast there. Really worth a try if you're in the neighborhood or even if you're not. read more

Today I had lunch at 1748 Bakehouse...I eat there at least twice a month..I waited a long time for them to open a brick and mortar.. The atmosphere is very inviting...today I had to sit outside in the gorgeous FL sunshine because the place was packed..I had the local greens salad with mojo cilantro dressing...it was absolutely delicious! I don't normally get a latte there because one of my favorite coffee shops is a block away..today I did..I got a caramel iced latte..the strips are made in house...it was very yummy! I highly suggest trying the homemade cookies..I bought a small box of cardamom ginger cookies..they were the perfect blend of cardamom and ginger..1748 is a must try!! read more

I originally found their baked goods at the Riverside Arts Market. They now have a brick and mortar place on Main Street. The location is in desperate need of more businesses like this but I will save that for a different rant. Everything here is made fresh and delicious. A lot of there ingredients are locally sourced. The owners are very involved and will come out to personally check on you. If this place was closer I would definitely visit more frequently. Right now it is like once a week! Come early for the best selection of baked goodness. They serve lunch as well as breaKfast all day so if you don't feel like breakfast you should come in anyway! See you there. read more

We have been waiting with bated breath for 1748 to open in Springfield. We were gigantic fans from the Riverside Arts Market prior to their storefront opening. My first order of an iced vanilla latte, espresso Chia pudding, and blackberry goat cheese hand pie did not disappoint. I discovered this little gem next to my work and I have been looking forward to Wednesday every week when I go to that location. I have been trying a new menu item every time and everything has been amazing. The sour dough breakfast sandwich was perfection. I called the shop right after finishing the sandwich to see if they have the bread and bacon in the produce section so I can make breakfast for dinner at home that night for my family. I've grabbed a mini pie from this bakery at the Riverside Arts market and couldn't wait to go to the new brick and mortar shop! A girlfriend was visiting from out of town last weekend so we stopped here on our way back from the airport to enjoy a nice light and local lunch. Beware it's very small inside. We lucked out and got the last open table. Granted it was right around noon on a Friday...so probably a busy time. To ensure getting a table, avoid lunch rush. The decor inside is trendy and lovely, and I adore the vintage cutting board gallery wall. Back to the food- the lunch menu is limited with just a handful of choices that I can count on two hands. The sandwiches and specials were heavy on meats. She had a local greens salad and I had a side salad and an apple brie pastry. The pastry was the highlight of the visit for me. The crust was crispy, flaky and delicious. The salads tasted good and fresh and the cilantro dressing we chose was delish, but they were cumbersome to eat with tiny hard carrot discs and wildly long pea shoots galore. The neighborhood is in a rebirth at this time and has a long way to go. We were able to find a street parking spot just one and a half blocks away, but on our walk from the vehicle enncountered a homeless person sleeping on the ground :-/ well as some still shuttered and abandoned looking properties. The walk was not pleasant and rather unsettling. Overall I would go back for pastries more than anything else and not take an out of town guest because the neighborhood doesn't do Jax justice.. yet anyway. read more

Passive aggressive management. Inconsistent quality. I'm not a fan of their lattes. Obsessed with their potatoes and turkey patties on a good day. They have a rule to leave during peak hours if you're doing work because they're "a restaurant, not a cafe". I have no problem with that, the problem is the passive, super aggressive nature of them relaying the information. It was just starting to get busy and I was finish up a project when people were struggling to find seating and I happily moved over to share the table. One of their employees, maybe manager, came up to me and slam shifted the napkins that displays their rule. And left but when she came back, she aggressively told me I needed to leave because they're a restaurant and I don't remember exactly what she said but even the people next to me said she was doing too much. I decided not to come back for a while but their potatoes are amazing honestly and that lady was really the only blockage, everyone else is nice. When I went again I added a turkey patty and it was good the first time and then one day the patty was super dry and I couldn't eat it. So I stopped going for a few days and I was starving and at a coffee shop on the same block so I decided to give them another chance and I just got eggs and potatoes. The next day I go, the potatoes are under cooked and they don't make the eggs how I asked and then proceed to talk to me as if it's my fault they didn't make the eggs how they made it yesterday. And again a different employee, maybe manager, aggressively shifted the sign that says to leave during peak hours. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't spend a bunch of money on my items or a presumption because of my demographic or if they were having bad days. I really hope they see this because I want them to know how it comes off and do better but I feel if I say something in person, they would shrug me off. There's ways to portray your rules without making people feel unwelcomed and uncomfortable. read more

The food here is always delicious. On 4/16/22 the girl with glasses and short bangs getting our pastries was very rude. Rushed us, skipped over our friend in line, was short and just gave us unnecessary attitude. The girl behind the register with curly hair was lovely and very kind. This is THE perfect place for breakfast and brunch. We shared a warm chocolate croissant (perfect); I had the pesto quiche and we brought home sweet lime shortbread cookies (like eating a key lime pie...amazingly light and packed full of flavor). The staff is so kind and it's really the cutest place. Wish I lived in Jacksonville, I would take home their takeout dinners and lunches. Oh, and GREAT coffee!!
