If you've never been to New Orleans and experience authentic Cajun cuisine this is the place to get your taste buds going. I walked into this restaurant just as my work day had ended and it was pretty quiet, it's hard to miss the white wash chairs and high table tops, floral wall paper which reminds me of the Rococo and Victorian era and screams New Orleans. I sat at the bar and ask the necessary questions to determined what I was going to order, the staff was well informed about the menu. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which cake with a tomato sauce and feta cheese (just delicious) the right amount of crunch and soft. I followed that up with the gumbo which came with rice and for dessert I had the beignets, it was sweet, soft powdered delight and came with a side of chocolate sauce (there was no need for the sauce) I will be visiting again 12/10 read more

I ordered the vegan Jambalaya. It was a large pile of rice with a few sautéed vegetables. Very sparse and really bland. I guess if I wanted any kind of flavor I was supposed to add the hot sauce that was put on the table. The server was very nice and replaced it with the Niçoise Salad. The tuna was tough as can be and there was SO much dressing that I couldn't eat it. Not my worst restaurant experience ever , but I would NEVER go back. Came here with coworkers after a staff outing for a quick bite, we work in the area and the chargrilled oysters were recommended. It's a cute little vibe inside, I personally loved the decor. Everyone else at the table ordered food off of the happy hour menu, I would have done the same if I was in the mood for a sandwich but I wasn't so I got the octopus. We also got the seafood basket for the table. The octopus was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, I'd get it again. Loved this New Orleans themed bar. It is beautifully decorated like your in the French Quarter for Mardi Gras. It has a balcony with live jazz too! It really brought me back to my NOLA trip. The drink 'specials' were noted as $2 off everything on the menu. That does not an impressive happy hour make. Also, the food prices were not that discounted either. They had mini sandwiches and small bites that again, weren't impressive price-wise. The only reason this review is getting 4 stars instead of 3 is that gosh darn gumbo. That was GOOD. It was a lovely roux mixed with crab, sausage, shrimp, chicken, and oysters. And as good as it tasted - I do have some qualms. 1) I didn't even know there was chicken in it until I grabbed a bite (there was 1 small piece) 2) There were only 2 shrimp 3) The rice it came with was horribly bland 4) There was WAY too much garnish of green onion and 4) It was mainly andouille sausage. However, note my 4 starts. This gumbo is GOOD. I just wish it showed up more for $20 worth of soup and a side of inedible rice. Now time for the staff: aloof, uninterested, bored, dismissive, [insert other adjective here]. You can tell when somebody actually cares about you and your experience and likewise you can tell when somebody is just doing their job. They were just at work. We had to ask for everything, flag them down, etc. We, as customers, were just another invisible person who happened up on their day and seemed to annoy them. It wasn't great to feel that way. Came here on a freezing, snowy Saturday morning with 12:15pm reservations. The place packed to the brim by 12:30pm. Outdoor seating with heated lamps is available. Seat indoors to enjoy the pretty decor and great music. Live music plays every weekend 12-3pm and 6-10pm. Really enjoyed listening to some incredible jazz. The musicians were super talented. Service is courteous and quick. The food was delicious. $15 gumbo was hearty and filling, with a good amount of seafood. Highly recommend. $18 pulled pork Benedict was great. During the summer, I finally got to visit one of the spot on my list, 1803 NYC. They offer New Orleans style food, like The outdoor seating was massive, and, it was covered, so no need to worry about the rain. Even though the outdoor seating looked nice, but the interior looked so beautiful!!! And, for that reason, we opted to eat inside instead of outdoor. We ordered Watermelon Lychee Sangria and Fais Do-Do for boozy brunch. The Sangria was AWESOME! The flavor seeps out from the watermelon into the drink, and the drink got stronger as the time passed even with the melting ice cubes. Fais Do-Do was was very fruity, and elegantly sweet. Bigger glass than expected, which was great! We enjoyed this one a lot too. They food menu looked super enticing, we wanted to order them all... We decided on Jambalaya and Cast Iron Cajun Frittata. Jambalaya tastes so good! It had perfect seasoning, loads of tender chicken, plump sausage and shrimp, a great dish! Frittata was loaded with plump crawfish and sausage, and packed with flavor. Every bite was a delight. While dining, a jazz band came in and started to play music from the balcony up top. We were not expecting that, and it was so nice! Their music was mellow and soothing, not loud but just loud enough to hear every note. Perfect for a relaxing weekend brunch! We had an amazing brunch here. The gumbo was delicious, so was that bouillabaise seafood dish he ordered (he swapped whatever bread it came with for garlic soudough , excellent choice because it went well with the seafood . I loved our drinks and entree's but not in love with the charbroiled oysters. They were good but almost tasted like pizza sauce and it definitely wasn't authentic Nola charbroiled oysters. Coming back for food at lunchtime was a bit of a different experience. In my opinion, the Mac and cheese was not seasoned well. Had a nice little kick, but def needed some salt and pepper and maybe old bay didn't love it, didn't hate it. The charbroiled oysters were good. The seasoning was very good! That said, they could have been broiled a bit more. It was missing the char taste I've been longing for. If you haven't been to New Orleans these are very good. If you have, they're still good, but they are not it. The space is soo pretty and I feel like this is a great spot to hang with a group of friends. Be wary of your order if you have allergies, because instead of being transported to 1803, you may be transported to your grave... A few months back my boyfriend and I went to try some authentic cajun food. Things were going well at first since we were immediately seated. I started with the st. Expedite cocktail which was a good balance of strong and sweet. After ordering my drink I ordered half a dozen oysters and my boyfriend ordered the vegan jambalaya (since he is allergic to shellfish). The food was taking a very long time to come out and the restaurant wasn't very busy as there was not a lot of people seated inside and the outside tables weren't full. I was still debating whether to get an entree or not. When our food got to us, my boyfriend realized that he was served the regular jambalaya with shrimp. Thankfully he caught it and had it brought back but that could have ended in a very ugly situation. At that point we were already impatient with how slow the food was coming out and we weren't inspired to order more from a restaurant that could have sent us on a trip to the hospital. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. The only reason our visit gets 2 stars because our waitress was apologetic and the drink was good. Sigh... I got so excited about the corn meal cauliflower thinking it would taste like a hush puppy. Nope. It tasted like cornmeal powder and soggy cauliflower. I took one bite and that was all. Not even the sauces made it better. So then I got the Salad with nuts and some other things and that was decent. Nothing amazing. For my meal, I got the vegan jambalaya and my friend got the regular jambalaya. Having been to New Orleans countless times and mostly for the flavorful food that's seasoned and saucy to perfection, this is what I was eagerly expecting as I raised my fork to my mouth. Noooooo the rice was dry as the Sahara. I had to ask for sauce to help it out. It did. But it was no longer jambalaya.
