My steak was a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. One odd footnote: I ordered a bourbon with a large ice cube and discovered a $3 upcharge on the bill. I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. That's exactly how good hospitality should work. Excellent restaurant, excellent experience, and absolutely somewhere I'd return.

I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. We did send it back and they gave us new bread in that style, which was still not good then while we were there, an older employee woman?, was talking loudly and disrespectfully to the workers, and made for a awkward dining experience. In addition, you have to pay for salad when you buy a meal. I don't think I've ever been in a good Italian restaurant where the salad didn't come with the meal. Again, I'm gonna say that the plates that my wife and I had the baked ziti the chicken Parm the manicotti in my opinion were excellent and this probably won't deter us from dining there, but thus far we have found a few good Italian restaurants, so we might pass this one up for a place that has better bread. We always try to support local and this review by no means is to put down this establishment, but to hopefully make them aware that good Italian bread matters at a good Italian restaurant. If you're not familiar with the concept, the servers and chefs are culinary students. My own server was super friendly and knowledgeable. I had a guava pablo and absolutely loved it. Since it was a weekday, I planned to stick to one drink, but after trying a sample of a frozen "piña colada" with a spicy touch, I couldn't resist. I am still thinking about that drink! My husband tried their beer, which was super cool that they had it, and the other frozen peach drink that he really liked, but I am still obsessed with mine. We also had soft pretzels and a guava empanada. The empanada was 10/10, reminded me of home (I'm Brazilian), but the pretzels were not great (we still ate everything). The cherry on top was the really friendly bartenders, with whom we had great conversations. We will be back!
