A solid pick on Canton Street in Roswell. The blue crab and shrimp dip was delicious but I'll have to say I'm disappointed in their cheese board. If you are going to say Italian meats, make it look like it didn't come out of Publix. I've gotten better cheese at Trader Joe's. 2nd place in Roswell where their cheese and meat board disappoints. Wife had the steak, which she liked and I had the Prime Rib, which was cooked right and a generous chunk of meat. The drinks a little disappointed so we switched to beer. If you want to learn to make an Old Fashion, go down the street to the Mill. The bread pudding was on point but the chocolate "mousse" was a slab of chocolate, not cake or fluffy. I finally had the opportunity to try this place for lunch yesterday with family who is visiting from Massachusetts. I was very impressed with the menu. The lunch entrees were in the neighborhood of $15 and there were some great choices. I chose the blackened mahi mahi, which came with goat cheese potatoes, spinach, and a tomato buerre blanc. It was SO good. All four of us adults were pleased with our choices. There were also some really great beer choices. Service was friendly and prompt. I will definitely return. read more

I have both visited and ordered take-out from 1920 for multiple years, and it definitely has its good and bad sides. First the good. The atmosphere at 1920 is amazing, and the service is generally very, very good. They have a core crew of servers who have worked there for years and are attentive and very good at their jobs. Their drinks are also very good, well made, and strong. On the downside, the place can get so noisy and overcrowded -- especially on the weekend-- that you can barely hear each other. The food is overpriced and prices have been raised at least 3 times in the last 6 months. Furthermore the food is mediocre at best. The menu items are not thought out, often drowned in thick spicy "sauces", and generally have little taste. The french fries are subpar and most vegetables come straight out of a can. Bottom line, the chef's skill set is not up to the quality food I expect for the prices being charged. read more

First walked into the door was just kind of stared at. No one really came to greet us. Bartender could of just gave a friendly hello but just looked at us and kept talking to her patron. Didn't feel too much of a welcoming atmosphere. After the host saw us we were then greeted with some warmth. Sat outside. Pretty waitress took our order. She was pretty prompt with refilling our drinks. On to the food. Appetizer, we got the ordered duck empanadas then Kobe beef hamburger without cheese. My boyfriend ordered the tenderloin steak sandwich. The duck empanadas came out two for 10 bucks. Kind of pricy. The duck was dry on the inside especially for being such a fatty meat. The Kobe beef came with 4 small pieces of mushroom which was disappointing. The patty needed more seasoning. I could still taste the water from the defrost. Overall it was an alright burger. Could of been better for a Kobe. It also came with fries which were on the greasy side. My bf sandwich on the other hand was awesome. The bread was toasted nicely and the fried onions added a nice crunch with the tenderloin. I enjoyed the bite I had from his more than my own. This is why I give it even 3 stars. I would come back for this sandwich and of course the good service we got from our waitress. Update!! As I was writing this my bf ordered dessert, peanut butter bar. I'm not even a fan of peanut butter but it was delicious. There was bacon on top of the bar. It gave a sweet and salty taste with a little crunch. This redeemed itself one star. This restaurant is one of the best my family and I have experienced since moving to Roswell last fall. Spent Christmas Eve dinner with the 1920 Tavern and all of us enjoyed excellent food. The staff was awesome, bartender on point, and the ownership kept checking in to make sure our experience was great. As we dined and were experiencing this service, we couldn't help that it wasn't just us. But every table and booth in the restaurant was getting the same attention. We were so pleased with the customer service AND the quality of food, that my company held an event at the 1920 Tavern in late Feb 2020. Again, outstanding food, service, and environment. Today's weather is 35 degrees with 20 mile an hour winds and gusts up to 30 miles an hour. The management is making the young hostess STAND OUTSIDE and her heater was barely working. Really excellent meal last night. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was incredible. The drink/cocktail menu is really extensive. Everyone will be able to find something they enjoy! Only issue with the meal was that we ordered the Mediterranean plate and the falafel came out frozen in the middle. We asked our waitress & the manager to ask the kitchen to rectify this and when the falafel came back out, this time it was burnt and inedible. Our waitress was really apologetic and said she would have words with the kitchen. I understand mistakes happen but I was disheartened that no one in the kitchen checked and verified the item before it left the kitchen the 2nd time. I work in the restaurant industry and last night at 1920 I was reminded why. The food was out in a timely manner with great presentation and taste. The array of flavors shows you that the chef took their time with it and did not go the cheapest route. The best part however may have been the service. We had Kevin, who was wonderful and timely with his approach, he navigated us through and extensive menu beautifully. The serving assistant pre bussed the table to where we did not have an empty plate on the table for more than 90 seconds. I loved 1920! We got there early enough (6:15ish) on a Friday and we got a table right away, but we noticed it filled up quickly after us. All of the food and drinks were yummy and service was pretty decent. I didn't have any negative experiences. Only negatives or feedback for some who may dislike this is: it's a small place and gets crowded - hard to maneuver around. Also the floors seem a bit dirty - id have liked to see that cleaned up a bit. Also beware there is only one bathroom stalls. read more

We went to this restaurant for the first time based on a couple of recommendations. The food was excellent - we got the Sea Bass and the Lamp Chops. Both came as recommendations from the server. Service was awesome and the food was delicious. The only reason I wouldn't rate this higher is because of how crowded the dinning room was. Tables are crammed together to fit as many guests in as possible. It was a little hard to hear across the table (I'm saying this and I'm in my 20s lol) other than the crowd level... would def recommend on a less crowded night (any night other than Friday or Saturday) read more

Been here a couple times and enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere. The Amazing burger is aptly named (I held the 'shrooms on mine) and I've also enjoyed the shrimp and grits. We've sat at a table and once at the bar. Can't wait for the nicer weather to enjoy some people-watching out on the street-side seating. A tavern in the 15-19th century was a place someone could get a good stiff drink, maybe a bite to eat and then retire to there room provided by the tavern. Hands down the best "tavern" I've ever been in. They might not have sleeping accommodations but they treat you like family. Every part of there staff try's to make your experience amazing. This is my new favorite place and a regular water hole for me anytime I'm in the area . I was visiting my friends in Roswell the other weekend and they decided to take me to the downtown area for dinner! They ended up recommending we go to 1920 Tavern and I am glad we ate at this restaurant! Our waitress was very accommodating as we initially were sitting outside, but after being in the heat for a few minutes we politely asked to be moved inside; even though they were busy, they were able to find us a table right away. I chose one of the cheeses from the Charcuterie section, ordered a side of brussels sprouts, and the steak salad. I honestly was surprised by the amount of food I received, thinking that a fancier restaurant would serve smaller portions - the cheese place gave a generous portion of cheese with accoutrements, enough to be shared! My dinner was delicious, the menu had a lot of different offerings, and the portions were generous! I can't wait to go back once I move down to the Atlanta area...downtown Roswell is a must. read more
