Came here for date night on a Saturday evening. Had a reservation for 9pm and they sat us early, around 830pm. The place was packed! Sat in the back room of the resturant with a large party on both sides of us. The waitress came within 10 minutes of us sitting, which was great. We ordered drinks and our food. Within 15 minutes our food came out. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp and chicken alfredo and I ordered the grilled lamb chops. Food was hot and tasty. 3 bites into my lamb chops I found an INCH LONG WIRE in my spinach. I actually had it in my mouth when I discovered it! Our waitress was quick to address the situation. The manager and the owner came to replace my meal about 10 minutes after finding the wire. The owner explained that they had no idea of where the wire came from and apologized. After cautiously eating my replacement meal, the check arrives. There was no compensation for the order. After speaking with the owner again he said because I received a replacement meal that that was the best he could do. No concern, very nonchalant about the whole ordeal. We had to pay full price for the dinner. If I would have swallowed that wire I could have been badly hurt. The manger and the owners total disregard for my safety and the original meal received completely ruined the night. First and last time coming here. read more

OMG!!!!!! This food was SOOOOOOOO AMAZING!!! I started out with the Cucu Melon cocktail. It was freshing, relaxing and pretty stiff! I also had several things on the small plates menu. I had the Short Rib Tacos- so yummy, meat so tender and seasoned to perfection! The Lamb Sliders- which are not on the Winter menu but they were so freaking fantastic I will be stalking the restaurant for their return, lol. I also had the Brussels Sprouts- which I have hated since I was a kid but the manager (I think she was- beautiful tall blonde from West Africa with a hypnotizing accent) guaranteed I would like theirs and she was spot on, we ate them all!!! I also had the Taza Mediterranean Plate omg this was soooooooo good it had picked onions!!! They were so flavorful, it was insane! The personal service we received at this establishment was priceless! This food was so awesome and I raved about it so much while I was there that the chef came out to meet me! He was awesome, I let him know that this was the best meal I have EVER HAD! OH a DESSERT!!!! I was full but couldn't resist getting dessert since the cocktails and small plates was so amazing. We were simply driving through Roswell and happened upon 1920. WHAT a good time we had - supplemented by delicious food! From the hostess - who quickly cleared a recently vacated table outside under the heat lamp, to our server, Liz - who was terrific, to the Chef - our entire experience was great. Our d-i-l is gluten-free, and her dietary restrictions were recognized and met. Our adult son had a terrific "black & blue" salad - I thought he might lick the plate! My husband and I typically split a meal so we can savor dessert - which worked out well. But the big hit was our 4-year-old grandson's burger! He ate every bite - and when our d-i-l showed Chef the photo of our grandson in his Halloween chef's costume - Chef asked that ice cream be provided for our grandson in honor! The burger my friend had was priced write for a burger, the problem was it smaller than a quarter pounder. My Caesar Salad, advertised Parmesan Chips on the menu. There was 1. I've only been 2x but I'm already calling it my favorite restaurant. First time I went with some girlfriends 2nd time with my hubby and 2 little girls and my dad who was in town visiting. We all loved it and my girls tagged it "the best restaurant ever". I had the same thing to eat both times because I couldn't stop dreaming about it since the first time. It was the tavern salad with salmon on top but make sure to ask for your salmon blackened. Yummmm! So good. Hubby got the e same with chicken but they forgot to blackened his and he still enjoyed it. The server - Kim - funny, smart, full of great recommendations and steered us right in every way. The drink - sadly, unsweet tea - it's a workday people..... The food - oh the food. Oysters - James River - good size, fresh and no fuss - really nice. And you know, some places just go nuts on charging for oysters. Happy to pay - but I appreciate this place finding the right balance - not cheap, not expensive, fair.....can't ask for more Salads and Gumbo were great- the Gumbo was really nice - grits instead of rice - that's a new one and it works Sea Bass - I would have paid twice the price. Pancetta Hash was delicious - the fish was fresh, well cooked and well seasoned - the touch of a very good kitchen - they knew they didn't have to do much and they restrained themselves - buy quality ingredients and they speak for themselves. I'm down from Boston visiting my folks and my brother took me here for lunch--Reese told us not to bother looking at the menu outside and just come on in: it was the right call! The Smoked Old Fashioned was perfect, the Salmon BLT was delicious, and Reese sold me on the Bread Pudding Du Jour w/an Irish Coffee to wash it down. Now that's my kinda lunch! Full disclosure: the crab cakes were underwhelming, but I may be spoiled by my time in New England and Southern Maryland! Is it possible to eat at a restaurant too many times? My husband and I ADORE 1920 and Jenna the owner. We moved to Roswell 2 years ago and 1920 was one of the first restaurants we grabbed dinner at that week after our move - what an introduction to downtown Roswell! The food is sensational - I dream, crave and salivate just thinking about the chilean sea bass. And it doesn't matter what time of day you eat here - the food is always consistently mind blowing and the staff are always so welcoming and attentive. Drink selection is fantastic and the atmosphere always delights - I hate even writing this review because I don't want more people to know about this Roswell gem. I don't get the good reviews. Pros: - they take reservations - service was friendly Cons: - it was MISERABLY hot inside. It was comfortable in the back of the restaurant, but there were sitting we were sweating. My husband had to shower when we got home he was so sweaty. - the drinks were bad. We got 4 bourbon drinks and they were watered down and/or badly made. I wanted to send one back but my husband didn't want to "make a scene" - the food is just ok. It wasn't bad. It wasn't good. The entree portions were small for the price. The french fries were soggy and not good. The short rib was tender but small. The shrimp and grits weren't good. How can you mess up grits? It was average at best. - the table next to us was very upset about something. They kept having the managers come talk to them. That's not a con of the experience, but just shows others weren't enjoying it either. Overall, it was a hot, overpriced experience with mediocre drinks. There's better food to be had. Wow! That last review was SPOT ON! I had a very similar experience! Friendly staff from the hostess to the wait staff to who I think was the owner. Behind the bar....not so much. These are the folks that should be setting the tone! Kind of a bummer and buzz kill. I know they're workin' hard and it's easy to get zoned in on just pouring drinks, etc... ( been there), but that's no excuse to be unfriendly or even ' here ya go'. Treat EVERYONE like they're special is what I was taught! Would love to give a better review, but the other post nailed it. The bar experience kinda killed it for me. Having lots of experience in this field probably makes it worse. We went to 1920 Tavern for the first time over the Christmas Holidays. We loved it! We arrived and were quickly seated. The wait staff was prompt and attentive even though the place was packed. My wife had the short ribs and I had the Chicken Piccata- both were delicious and good sized portions. I especially liked the wild mushroom risotto! Had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes (they call them pureed) - fantastic. The epitome of southern food, done with refinement. If you ask, you can get BBQ sauce with it. It has a great kick to it, with a vinegar base. I drank the strawberry starburst cocktail which was perfect for me as someone who loves my drinks sweet. The service was great too. The waitress was fantastic and the manager came to check on us as well. Would definitely look forward to coming again, although it is a bit pricier than my average dinner. Stop #3 on our tour brought us to the vibrant restaurant scene on Canton Street in Roswell Georgia. If you are a foodie, Canton Street and all of Roswell should be a bookmarked destination in your food adventure journal. I've been to parts of Roswell many times over the years, but today made me envious of it's residents. How lucky are they to be within walking distance to such an eclectic restaurant district OVERFLOWING with character and charm. It's an overload for the senses as the air has the fragrance of delicious foods, sounds of music, gorgeously renovated homes and a festival like crowd of people eagerly looking to experience the local offerings. It is truly easy to get sidetracked as you pass patio after patio of people enjoying a vast array of foods, but we were on a mission and stayed true to our designated course. ------------ - - - - - - THE EXPERIENCE Walking in the doors of Opulent kinda fells like a step back in time. While the bar looks very modern, the entire FEEL of the space seem to harken you back to the 20's, and not just because of the Charlie Chaplin photo's. The pattern of the wall tiles, the worn look of the dark paints, the aged surface of the mirrors and the corridor to the back room that made me feel like I was a VIP Mob Boss being seated in a private dining room. The table setup, napkins and menu were elegant in a way that I could image men in our group dressed in wide pinstriped suites and mirror polished shoes while picturing the ladies in shaker dresses complete with vintage hats, feathery shawls and elbow-length white gloves. We should do a short B&W film for our next tour :-) Service was like clockwork! Our burgers arrived so quickly we all seemed to be surprised and caught off guard. However, the fact that they took the liberty to split all the burgers and bring them on separate plates (complete with fries) without our asking was truly impressive and thoughtful. I really can't say thank you enough to our server Kristina for the precision that make this experience seamless. ------------ - - - - - - THE FOOD The Amazing Burger (that's right, it's actually named that) was indeed worthy of it's name. The first bite left me uncertain, but as the flavors washed over my taste buds, each bite got progressively better. The wonderfully seasoned Masami American Kobe beef and delicious Gruyere cheese alone were enough to make the burger incredible, but the roasted Shiitake mushroom and garlic aioli brought a dimension to the burgers flavor that lingered long after I swallowed. I literally savored EVERY bite down to my last. ------------ - - - - - - THE VERDICT We sampled a total of four different burgers today from Marietta to Roswell, splitting each between two and sometimes three people to save stomach space. Stopped here on a busy night and the helpful staff managed to get us seated. The menu is extensive with old classics and new age choices, so much to pick from. Even though it was super busy, our waiter was prompt, friendly and managed to find time to chat a bit. Food was plentiful and was fantastic, not one complaint out of our group. The owner was busy helping the staff, but we saw her checking on customers too. She came to our table and talked a while and thanked us for stopping in. That goes a long way. The bar is well stocked with beers and liquors and is a nice place to have a drink. We are from out of town so can't go there often but this is our second time and certainly will not be our last. I am writing to give a very favorable review of our experience at 1920s Tavern. We had a reservation for 24 women. The table was beautifully set and ready for us to be seated and begin a relaxing evening. Most important to note our service was fabulous. Travis rocked managing the orders and keeping up with a lot of women - very impressive. We appreciated his patience and perfection on making everything work. Pat was awesome as well helping to make all run smoothy during the night and making sure we all had what we needed and any extra requests. Top if off with Scott the GM quietly watching thru the night making sure all is running smooth. The ladies were all happy and never had a complaint. We had a challenging time trying to decide from all the awesome looking items on the menu and everyone loved their food. I would say pretty much all of the dishes were wiped clean. The mixed cocktails were fabulous with the ripple effect with the Starburst cocktail. A few ladies ordered the drink and the next thing the table was growing with Starburst cocktails. Had to comment on my experience here this past weekend. There was a bit of a hiccup at the bar just as my party was arriving. A girl had a bit too much to drink and had gotten sick. The staff couldn't have been nicer to her and couldn't have been more apologetic and accommodating to the rest of us. Very professional and kind about the whole ordeal. Aside from that, the food was excellent! I had the vegetarian lasagna and my girlfriends both had the salmon. We were all very impressed. Also enjoyed the truffle cake for dessert. They have a ton of gluten free and vegetarian options which was great for our particular party. This is a great spot for a ladies night or a nice date. As I sat in the booth with two of my friends, I thought ..."I've been here before!" Actually, this time I liked 1920 better than the last. We split a bottle of the house chardonnay and each ordered a sandwich. Mine was the corned beef Rueben. The accompanying fries were over-salted and somewhat limp, but the sandwich had a good serving of meat, the marble rye was tasty -- definitely a sandwich I would get again. My friends both ordered the salmon BLT, which they would recommend. While the menu is still similar to other places on the strip, 1920 is inching up the scale; now I give it 3.35 stars! read more

When we tried to order, they said it was only a certain soup/salad/sandwich, which wasn't called out as such on the menu. So we ordered a Reuben.......but we're told they didn't have that because their shipment hadn't arrived for the day? So we ordered a salad. When I came, it was missing beats and squash, both of which were listed on the menu. Some simple things like running our credit card took forever during a Monday lunch service.
