My family (husband, mother-in-law, aunt, 13 year old son, 11year old son) tried 1920 Tavern in Roswell for the first time on a late Saturday afternoon. Overall it was a delightful experience. The food was delicious; wings were tasty in a SC BBQ sauce, salads were filling, fish and chips was one of the best ever had, and the Nawlins Shrimp was flavorful. We ate outside and enjoyed the busy street ambiance. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. This is an excellent place to enjoy lunch. My wife and I chose to eat inside although one of the sidewalk tables would have been nice in cooler weather. The salmon BLT is highly recommended - delicious with crispy bacon - a great idea. The hamburger was great also. We sat facing the bar and enjoyed trying to identify the liquor bottles from a distance. Never did find the Amaretto (it is kept under the bar!). Friendly service, a great location in the great little town of Roswell. We will definitely eat here when we return. read more

Great staff, ambiance and wonderful food. With my dietary issues, they didn't even question my order of cheese pasta from the kid's menu. The creme brulee desert was a huge hit and I wish that we didn't share. The only issue we encountered was parking and traffic. Handicap access is good once you get into the establishment. I've just recently started coming here about once a week, and the food/drinks/staff have all been great. The appetizer steak tacos are amazing and the calamari is SO GOOD. I appreciate that they'll let us sit outside even in winter and never seem to mind turning on the heaters for us, as we have to be more COVID-conscious than other patrons might have to be. We came here a while ago and had a great meal with the family. Went there today for Mother's Day and it was a huge disappointment. Seeing how a family of 4 sat before us didn't get their meals before us was the 1st sign. Then their mom's meal was wrong & had to be sent back and the dad didn't get his meal until after mom's meal came back out. As for us, my son's burger was not hot but ok. I ordered the shrimp & lobster spaghetti and it was so bland that I had to ask for salt, red pepper flakes and parmesan to doctor it up. Minutes went by & I had to ask another person. At which time our waitress came & said she was waiting on the kitchen to give her some. I am not a salt person, and dumping the entire bowl of parmesan in did not help much. The shrimp was cooked well, but the lobster did not taste fresh, and there were no lobster chunks in the sauce, more like bits & pieces. Very dissatisfied. Granted it was busy so we get that the kitchen was slow which slowed our waitress so we didn't ding her tip, but the lackluster food was all the kitchen's fault. And BTW our reservation was 11AM, but lunch menu was not offered so we had to pay dinner price. And there was an upcharge for the shredded parmesan where for most restaurants that would be standard offering for a pasta dish. We won't be back. read more

Had a very odd experience at 1920 Tavern last weekend. We stopped in for an early dinner and were seated on the sidewalk. The hostess was very friendly, however our server was irritable and snarky. This is not what I expect from a restaurant in downtown Roswell. We asked about the beer selection and our server acted like we stole her lunch money when we wanted specifics about the rotating taps. She walked ten feet inside to the bar and returned with limited information and a smug face. She seemed very inconvenienced by our visit and our simple question about what they had available to serve us. Based on her response, we left without ordering so we could free up the table, and we promptly spent $70 at another restaurant. The toughest part about our visit is that I know the food is really good, but I can't overlook poor service when spending that kind of money on a meal and drinks. read more

In my view dining out should be a pleasant experience. I came with friends who wanted to eat here. It was a nice Wednesday evening so we chose to eat outside. The street was quite active with lots of people and should have been a pleasant experience. However, the constant stream of loud cars and motorcycles, excessively bright lights, and traffic within mere feet of our table made outside dining less than pleasant. The sign on the host/hostess stand read something to the effect of 'keep our streets open.' Apparently, based on another review, the inside is no better with an excessive noise level. In my humble opinion, the busy section of Canton Street should be closed off at least during peak times not only to keep the noise level down but more importantly for the safety of people walking and dining on its sidewalks. I don't know if there have been any accidents but it would seem that it is most likely inevitable. For food that was good but not outstanding, especially for the prices, I will not be back. read more

What an outstanding customer service experience! I went here on a Friday evening (well more like a few hours ago) and they got busy fast! What amazed me is how sweet and attentive the staff was from the time we arrived until we left. Our server was great and so was the management team. Had dinner here with some friends. We all ordered wine and the steak entree, as we heard it's the same steak purveyor they serve across the street at Little Alley. It wasn't cooked the same as Little Alley, but for half the price and a good flavor, it was a great meal. They were happy to accommodate our requests to switch out sides since some of our table is currently Keto. The restaurant was trendy and very busy. The bar is usually busy and the beers on tap are usually pretty good. I love coming here and either sitting outside to people watch or sit in the bar and have the risotto side dish. Saying that, the risotto side dish is UHmazing! I usually like to try side dishes first to get an idea of how the place cooks their food, I figure if the side dishes are good, so must the food...then splurge on the $14 dishes and chances of disappointment are low :) Interior is really cool with some antiqued mirrors and a log bench with tables. It can get pretty tight in here when the bar gets busy, lots of waitstaff bumping into you etc. be aware Service is good, food even better. Try to snag a seat outside and have some wine, in the Winter months they do put heaters outside...bonus! Make sure you visit this Downtown Roswell establishment. read more

Our experience did not start well at all. Perhaps its my fault, or a simple misunderstanding, but it was a bumpy start. What saved them was the entree and server. I made a 6:30pm dinner reservation a while back, but decided that day that we'd rather sit on the patio, so we arrived early (5:45pm) and requested to move it from inside to outside. You don't take patio reservations? Okay, no problem, a 30-45 minute wait for a table? Perfect, we'll put our names on the waiting list. You'll text me when you have something open? Great! So we wander down the street and order a drink to kill the time. 5-minutes later, get a text: "Your table is ready". Ummmmm, what happened to 30-45 min? Ask them to push us back, we're not ready now. You told us it would be a while. Go back at 6:15pm, inform them we're ready when they are, to which they replied "Sorry, you're now at the end of the list"....huh? You move us to the back of the waiting list? I've never heard of such a thing. To be fair, I'm biased, as I managed restaurants for 10-years. I would never have done that to a customer...ever, especially if they took the time to make a reservation. But i'm not in charge, so I agree and go find a bench. So we wait....another 45 minutes for a table. No one was rude or unpleasant. It was just a drag seeing that we planned it out, followed their directions, and still waited over an hour. Finally get sat on the patio. They cram you in so tightly that you're smashed up against your table, or have to find a creative way to relax a bit. by this time, I'm starving and grumpy. The menu was long and had a bit of something for everyone. The charcuterie and cheese board was a bit of a letdown TBH. The copa portion was enough for a small meat-eating bird, barely enough to share, and the bread was a bit stale. Slice the bread thinner and make it a cracker, or ensure its fresh. Either one, I don't care. Really hoping that things get better. The wine was certainly helping though. Wife ordered a salad, which she said was fine. I ordered the short rib Sheppard's Pie. Amazing. Three stars before the entree (maybe 2?), but the kitchen saved the day. The things that happened can be avoided, so I need to try again and see if confusion is the norm. I owe the front of the house another shot, although our server was very friendly and attentive. I'll edit my review after the next visit. read more

Absolutely loved the atmosphere this restaurant is located at! It's called Roswell Square and you pretty much feel like you are the French Quarter-New Orleans area. It has that French vibe and great for walking! Now this restaurant was so busy, that obviously it was the place to eat at! Customer service was EXCELLENT, the owner checked on us twice to make sure all was ok, and the food? UNBELIEVABLE! Everything we ordered was great quality and tasty! Definitely try their grits as a side! Has a great kick to it, as well as their Mac and Cheese! I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was so flavorful and had goat cheese on bottom (love goat cheese!). Braised short ribs one night, salad greens with grilled salmon prepared PERFECTLY the next! And be sure to get the stiffed ravioli appetizer--divine! Mirela and Vanessa are a couple of the BEST SERVERS I've ever had...and I travel 3/4 of the time and hence eat out all the time. Very knowledgeable. It's places like this that make Roswell, specifically Canton Street, so charming. My favorite dish is the burger it's juicy and perfectly cooked. The salmon is a close second. They have a great selection of cocktails and wine too. The staff are always warm and friendly. It's worth the drive up from Buckhead. I always leave there full and happy. My husband and I just moved here from Los Angeles, and finding a local spot this good was thrilling. It was crowded with a vibrant clientele, all in high spirits. The owner stopped by the tables, checking in on everyone as if we were guests in her home. Our waitress and support staff was excellent - friendly and very efficient - and the food was out of this world. We tried the steak salad and pommes frites, and it was so delicious that my husband had to go again... one more round... another steak salad and an order of pommes frites. Again, he ate every single bite. Our beers were excellent - the recommendation of our waitress - and dessert a great topper. The chef even came out and sat with us for 15 or 20 minutes, so delighted that we were enjoying the meal so much. Jason's a great guy and we had fun discussing where to get the best pizza on the street. By the end of the evening we felt as though we had just had a divine night out at a old friend's home. Only problem is that despite a prohibition theme and such a long drink list, they do not seem to understand cocktails. We are here from NY visiting my daughter and son in law. This is our second time here. We could have tried somewhere else, but enjoyed it so much last year we wanted to come back. The hostess was very accommodating. Our waiter was beyond friendly and made sure all our needs were met. He was exceptional. The owner herself came to our table to make sure everything was ok and if we needed anything. I remembered her from last year because of her being so nice. After that being said the food from apps to dessert was amazing! We will continue to come back every time we are in GA. Love everything about this warm friendly establishment. I definitely like this place but this review is going to be really honest. I went for a girls night with my best friend. The atmosphere is really fun however walking to the back of the restaurant was like squeezing a damn 10 pound sausage into a 5 pound casing. Way too much in a small small space. The back, where we were seated, was a little more roomy. We sat down, ordered drinks and then about 15 minutes later ordered our food. Our waitress was really nice and was on top of things. So, we both ordered the Mediterranean salmon. We got our food about 5 minutes later. It was so weird and normally I would never complain about getting food promptly but this was a little too prompt. It was a Friday and I suppose they were trying to get as much business as possible. But when I go out I still like to done a little and not feel like a dang cow being herded. Lol. Just being honest. The salmon was cooked well and the dish had great flavor. It was served on some mashed potatoes and had olives and tomatoes and zucchini mixed in with some kind of sauce. It was tasty and definitely had a Mediterranean flair. I want to go back and maybe try it not on a weekend and compare. Definitely not rushing to get back because it was a little expensive...I think it was like $23 for my salmon and like $10 for my margarita (although it was pretty big), but want to put it back on my list. read more

I hate to be so harsh, as I really want to like this place. I live nearby and really want a great hangout place. 1920 has a nice space, with a decent menu, an excellent bar, and even good music in the evenings. I've never felt that the food was outstanding, but all-in-all, it was good - and I really want to like this place. But... I came to the bar for dinner last night and ordered a drink, then settled on the chipotle mussels to eat. Not long after ordering, someone (who I have to guess is the manager) put a plate of mussels in front of me. I immediately noticed two things: they smelled funny and they plate looked off (for instance, the toast point that come with it were not really even toasted). I was unsure because of the smell but I attempted to dig in and, long story short, they were just plain awful. Worst mussels I've ever had hands down. Indeed, they should never have been served and I don't believe that whoever cooked or served them would have served them if they paid any attention. I spit it out and sent them back. I had to order a second cocktail to get the taste awful out of my mouth (and even that was a challenge). While I had wanted seafood that evening, I switched tacks and ordered the (self-proclaimed) amazing burger. The burger is two large stacked patties and I was asked how I like my burger cooked - I requested medium rare. When the burger came, one patty was perfectly medium rare, but the other was perfectly well done. It was almost comedic (how could two of the same patty, cooked for the same burger, be so dramatically different in temp (if anyone was paying any attention), but it was also dry and not what I ordered. I was hungry - now two drinks in with no food - so I didn't send it back, but come on... It did not seem to be a surprise to the restaurant that the kitchen was struggling. Unfortunately, it is going to be the demise of the restaurant if they can't get it straight. The bar/bartender/music are awesome, but it isn't too often that I head out just to drink - and right now I couldn't imagine returning for the food. And that's a shame... read more

I have dined at 1920 before, but never took the time to leave a review. However, I'm doing so today because they outdid themselves last night. When I heard they opened their dining room this week, I knew it was going to be the first place I'd go to for dinner. The service and food were both EXCELLENT! The staff and owners were all wearing masks or protective face shields, the customers were spread out, the service was great and fast and the food was FANTASTIC (as usual).
