This still REALLY BOTHERS me, over 5 years later, and I continue to experience emotional trauma and flashbacks and thoughts I can't stop, not because of what happened but because of how I was obviously poisoned that evening, but because of how the place were it occurred responded. What they claim are lies. And the reason for lying makes no sense to me at all. I didn't accuse them of anything other than being extremely horrible to an obvious victim of a crime, and their response was to try to blackmail me and spread lies about me. I had MY FRIEND call 911 bc I lost feeling in my legs, had been explosively sick, and could feel myself losing consciousness after only having 3 drinks with a high tolerance. I locked myself in the bathroom for safety because the bartender was pounding on the door and telling my friend and I to "leave now you drunk b***** get the f*** out of my bar" which made no sense as we'd have drinks there and paid for them. They claimed we walked in off the street and asked to use their bathroom! Lies!! They claimed THEY called the police?! LIES!! They claimed my friend was taken out in handcuffs?! Lies! She met me at the hospital in an UBER!! If anyone wants to know anything else about that evening please reach out to me. If they try to follow through on their threats, I know a good lawyer and I am not afraid of them anymore. (I am however still afraid of ever going out again without a man with me, which is sad. Because my independence was my favorite quality before this occurred.) It's been 5 1/2 years, I never claimed this business or its workers did anything to me except their treatment of me during the time of which I was both a victim of someone else, and also a paying customer visiting their establishment. As the police told me when I made my own report, against them, it is not slander nor libel when you tell the TRUTH. In its simplicity this restaurant is where you want to eat when you don't know what to eat and when you are looking for fun combinations and flavors! Must try the scallops tacos OMG! Great calamari, short rib tacos. Yum! Fair prices, good service. I was not blown away by the dessert but I am sure it's a matter of personal taste. Going back the day after...today! Was on a business trip and the restaurant originally picked was packed, with no room at the bar either. 1920 Tavern was nearby, and was also packed, but luckily there were two seats open at the bar. The bartender was working his tail off but still found time to make sure we had our drinks and even helped us with some menu decisions. I had the spicy margarita, and it was very well made. Just the right kick and nicely presented. The couple next to me ordered the braised short ribs, which convinced me. They were very good and a generous portion. We got calamari and spinach/artichoke dip appetizers, both solid. The place itself has a great vibe, right in the middle of a great street that's bustling with people and plenty of nice places to eat and drink. read more

We went last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. We ate outdoors (I liked the outside better than the inside which was nice but pretty noisy). Although we had reservations we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, but we were not in a rush so it was okay. Cocktails were great, food was delicious and portions were a good size. We came in on a Saturday afternoon. Parked in a parking lot behind the restaurant for free. We did have reservations but we ended up sitting at the bar. Bartender was cool, friendly and attentive. We ordered fries to get us started thinking it'd take awhile to get to us since there was a decent amount of people there but our food came out before our fries so the bartender took it off the bill which was nice of her. We ordered the crab cakes which the mister said was delicious. That the sauce on it was very good. We also had the Blackened Trout which I noticed isn't on the menu online. Very light meal. The skin was crispy and the meat was decent. The sauce helped with the flavor. Nothing to brag about it was paired with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts which were very good. We had an early dinner at 1920 Tavern this evening. Our food was good, our service was mid-grade and the ambiance was loud for a not very packed place, again it was early. Our entrees were Fish and Chips, three large perfectly done pieces of flaky cod served with an abundance of waffle chips and a minuscule portion of Cole slaw. More slaw please! We also ordered shrimp and grits, very tasty and well prepared. The biggest criticism would be with our server who paid little attention to our glasses and left us sitting for a longer than acceptable time after we were obviously finished. When you pay $70+ for a meal (no alcohol, tip included) one expects that you get a refill of your ice tea. Three stars on the service, five on the food... but one choosing Fish and chips deserves a bit more slaw. read more

After a terrible Mother's Day experience two years ago, we decided to try it again. Fortunately, it was slightly better. The place was not terribly busy (kind of surprising for a Mother's Day), but very comfortable. The service was excellent. Thank you, Ashley! This time the meals came out within a few minutes of each other. We shared the Mediterranean sampler and raw oysters to start. The Mediterranean sampler was ok. The falafels were overcooked to the point of petrified, which is unfortunate, because the inside flavor was sound. The hummus was grainy and lacked salt and lemon. The fish and chips should be removed from the menu. They were soggy, dripping in grease, and under seasoned. 3 of 10 is being generous. Avoid this dish. The "chips" were...let's just say, I'd rather have a bag of store bought potato chips. It's apparent these folks have never had GOOD fish and chips. One of our children had one of the most disgusting Mac and cheese dishes as a side. It was more like a soup than Mac and cheese. Still not certain what the liquid was in the bottom of the bowl. Another dish to avoid! Thankfully, the mother we were celebrating enjoyed her frittata and her mimosas, so the day was not a complete waste. For the $350+ for six people, there are DOZENS of places I'd rather spend my money for more reliable results. Likely our last visit. read more

We were looking for a place to grab a nice (late) lunch in Roswell between activities (and locations) on our wedding anniversary. The reviews for this place and the variety in the menu pulled us in. We made a reservation online the morning of and were able to get a table at our preferred time. When we arrived, the place was quite packed as might be expected on a sunny Saturday afternoon, but we were seated right away. Part of the reason I wanted to eat in Roswell is because of the Summer Sippin' drink contest (https://www.summersippin.com) the restaurants are doing. Our waitress was new so she didn't know about their featured drink, the Twisted Sister Mojito. She was very helpful in getting the drink ordered from what she called a "secret menu." Other than that, she was very knowledgeable about the menu items and was willing to offer recommendations. We ultimately didn't like any of the food, but here's what we ordered: --Soup of the day. It was a creamy butternut squash soup. Overall, it was well made but the flavor was too plain/simple for me. It reminded me of a purée I'd make for my infant daughter; tasty just not what I was looking to eat. It would probably be better paired with some other food rather than as a solo appetizer. --Wedge salad. Here's the thing: I LOVE wedge salads...typically. This wedge salad, however, was underwhelming. The iceberg lettuce was crisp but mostly yellow and white so what tiny bit of flavor you can expect from iceberg was missing. The toppings were for some reason just okay. I ate much of the toppings with as little of the lackluster iceberg. --Chilean Sea Bass. This was my husband's entree. He thought the fish was too thick and thus needed more seasoning. He ate the veggies that came with it but not the potatoes, and thought the sauce was okay. --Cajun Chicken & Shrimp Pasta. This was my entree. It was plated beautifully (see picture) but that's about it. The sauce didn't have enough flavor or seasoning, the grill marks on the chicken tasted extremely burnt, and the shrimp was cooked well but unseasoned. It was just okay. --Twisted Sister Mojito. Here's the description from the Summer Sippin website: "Fresh lime, Mint, Watermelon-infused simple syrup, Either Bacardi or Don Q Silver Rum, Topped with Soda and Garnished with Lime and Mint" ....ummm it didn't look like the example picture on the website and didn't taste like it was melon-infused. It felt very thrown together. I would never order this again. Overall, the experience was a strong "meh." None of the dishes were the type of memorable that would bring us back. read more

Each made sure our food presentation and taste met our expectations - and it did! I went to 1920 for the first time Thursday for lunch with two long time friends. They seated us in the back room where it is quieter. One of my friends is hard of hearing, but it was quiet enough that she was able to converse without a problem. Our waitress was just wonderful and the food was delicious. I had the steak salad, one of my friends had the short ribs and the other had salmon on toast. All three dishes were prepared perfectly. I think the Shepherd's Pie slightly won out for flavor, which is surprising because I don't normally like shepherd's pie. The squash on the short rib was caramelized and sweet. Great beer selection and decent whiskey selection. Would have chosen a different dessert if we were to go again; we split the peanut butter bar. Staff was attentive and friendly. As a black American I recommend taking your business else where. They treat black Americans like it's 1920, despite having black staff, the service was as if we were less than the other folks in there. Black lives clearly don't matter here. As someone who frequents Canton St it's sad because 1920s clearly has the same views as a 1920 establishment, and how they serve their black patrons is apparent to this. They should not be frequented by any person of color, and there are way better establishments on Canton St that deserve our business! read more

We're staying with friends in Roswell. They recommended this place for lunch and we were definitely not disappointed. We started with the smoked old fashioned and a glass of rosé. I ordered one rosé and our waitress Kim suggested that I get the other one instead - she was right, it was delicious! We ordered the crab/shrimp dip and the mussels with the tomato cream sauce (also on Kim's recommendation) intending to still get the grouper sandwich to share. Weeeellllllll, the dip and mussels were so good, and Kim brought us extra bread to soak up more of the delectable sauce that came with the mussels, so we were plenty full afterward. The service was amazing from when we checked in to host stand all the way to our server. The manager or owner I believe also checked in on us during our lunch. This is downtown Roswell so parking is tricky as they don't have their own lot. My husband devoured his tacos and the burger wasn't bad either the kids meals were huge which we were not expecting but it was nice to be able to take it to go! They also had coloring papers for the kids as well. This place is casual and divey. We sat outside as the inside is small it's mostly the bar and some booths. We were a party of 5, sat at the bar, received drinks instantly. The owner overheard me say I was a vegetarian & she came right over to me. My previous review was just for drinks. This review is for takeout only. We ordered takeout at 7:40 on a Friday night and it was ready 15 minutes later. Make sure to ask for cutlery and napkins because we were not given any. We got the Amazing Burger ($15.95) because a friend highly recommended it. Maybe we went in with too high of expectations. We were very disappointed. We got one with fries and one with Brussels sprouts. The burger was topped with Gruyére cheese and mushrooms. I just wasn't impressed. The cheese was weird for the burger. The fries were not crispy at all. They were just limp potatoes. The only saving grace was the Brussels sprouts. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because it was takeout and we didn't eat at the restaurant. However, we will not be going back for food. read more

Conveniently located on Canton Street, this is a great restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the manager came to check on diners towards the end of their meals. Their website states there is free valet parking on Webb St, but we were unable to find this. There is a $5 lot on the corner that is easy if unable to find free parking. We ordered the beef and veggie soup, which was amazing. It was brought out with the meals instead of ahead, which was not a huge deal but not ideal. For entrees, our group had the ahmazing burger, fish and chips, and the blackened trout. Each entree was delicious and had sizable portions. We will be back! read more

This is my new favorite restaurant in downtown Roswell. I went on a Monday without reservation and it was busy! It took about 20 minutes to be seated. I recommend getting reservation if you don't want to wait. But great service from host and waiter! All the food on the menu is reasonably priced. There are sooo many options, but I landed on getting the short rib entree and it was perfection. Delicious! Delicious bottle of Merlot paired with my dish for a great price. For browsers - most of the restaurants have their menus posted outside for review. Went here based on the menu selection and reviews. Seated promptly without a reservation. Nice decor! Our waiter was very attentive. This place has some outdoor seating, bar seating in the front area and quieter dining area in the back for larger groups. I got the southern fried chicken dinner - $27 - 2 pieces of French cut fried chicken, 1 cornbread, mashed potatoes, green beans and delicious white gravy. It was DELICIOUS. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. For dessert - I got the fried cheesecake (nothing special). Overall, a good find! read more

We came here on a Friday night and had only made a reservation the day before so 8:45pm it was. Parking was tough in the popular downtown area where the restaurant is located. We we able to snag a spot nearby and were only a few minutes late for our reservation. Our friends we were meeting we already there is a nice booth in the back of the restaurant. There was a lively energy about the place. We ordered our drinks and I noted their nice beer selection, both on draft, and bottles and cans. There were so many good entree options on the food menu so we opted to forego the appetizers and go straight for the entree. I got the lobster and shrimp spaghetti and it was amazing!! There was a good amount of lobster and the pasta tasted fresh. It was a light meal as the sauce was very liquidy, but had a decent kick to it. I had been to 1920 Tavern on Canton Street in Roswell one time previously for dinner, but today was my first lunch experience. All of the staff members in the dining room and behind the bar were wearing masks. The cooks in the kitchen had masks around their necks, but they were not covering their noses or mouths. They had small bottles of hand sanitizer on every table, and every other table was closed. I had reviewed their menu in the past, and I really wanted to try their grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. That's exactly what I ordered today. The description on the menu sounds incredible. The grilled cheese sandwich comes with a blend of three cheeses, including Swiss, Cheddar and Gouda, on a toasted French Brioche Bread. The sandwich was good, but it wasn't great. The bread had been toasted or grilled too long. The crust was dry, slightly hard and a little crunchy. There was a decent amount of cheese on the sandwich, but I definitely could not taste the three different types of cheese. The San Marzano Tomato Basil Soup was warm and flavorful. Being that the bread was so hard, dipping the sandwich in the soup softened the crust a little. The service was good at the beginning and throughout the meal, but it suffered a little near the end. Our server took our drink and food orders quickly, and she checked on us frequently. At the end when she brought the check, my guest immediately provided his credit card. It then took the server around 10 minutes to come back to our table and pick up the check and credit card. I will probably return to this restaurant to try other items on their menu, but I won't order the grilled cheese and tomato soup again. read more
