They did a good job remodeling the space from Datz. The inside restaurant and outside patio area are nice. The food is okay at best. No menu item here is "the best" in the area. The service is not good. The servers are not attentive. Takes forever to order and get your check. You are lucky to get a water or drink refill. Doesn't seem to matter if it is empty mid-week or crowded on the weekend. All they seem to care about is upselling. They are absolutely out of their minds with their prices here. A mediocre sandwich with no drink and the bill was $32 before tip. Would much rather go to Mad Dog or somewhere else in the area for tavern/pub food that is good, reasonably priced, and has consistent service. This place has potential but they need to be realistic about their prices and instruct their team to provide better service. read more

I have really tried to like this place, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend it based on our recent experience. While the atmosphere was okay, the prices are absolutely outrageous for what you get. Service was lacking, our server wasn't able to make any liquor recommendations for a mojito. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap specifically with no croutons due to a preference, yet it arrived loaded with them. I didn't send it back only because someone else in our party already had to send their food back because it was inedible. To make matters worse, we were charged $2.00 for side sauces (ranch) that arrived in metal ramekins and were barely touched, which felt like nickel-and-diming. For 2 people, 2 menu items, and 5 drinks, the bill totaled $165. That price is crazy for the quality of food and service we received. read more

I had been driving by this place for a while and was excited to finally give it a try. My fiancé, some friends, and I decided it would be the perfect spot to watch the Colombia vs. Portugal World Cup match last Saturday night. When we arrived, a couple of our friends were already sitting at the bar. I grabbed a seat there while my fiancé joined the rest of the group at a nearby table. The bar seats around 8-10 people, and there were only about 5-6 customers sitting there, so it wasn't particularly busy. After waiting 5-7 minutes without being acknowledged, I stood up to try to get the attention of one of the two bartenders. Another 10 minutes passed without so much as eye contact or a simple "I'll be right with you." At that point, my friends even commented that it almost felt intentional. After another 5 minutes, I gave up. Waiting over 20 minutes without any acknowledgment is simply unacceptable, especially when the bar isn't crowded. To make matters worse, my fiancé eventually managed to get me a drink after waiting herself, but by then I didn't even want to spend money at an establishment that seemed to have so little regard for customer service. There are far too many great restaurants and bars in Tampa to waste your time here. The prices certainly aren't budget-friendly, which makes the lack of service even more disappointing. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this place. Save yourself the frustration, time, and money, and choose one of the many better options Tampa has to offer. read more

Great concept for this area! Of course South Tampa gets a family forward, kid friendly place after I moved to Carrollwood- go figure! This is in the old Datz and Dough location. The parking is annoying and they offer valet which I have always hated but you can park on the street which we did. This is a restaurant, bar, greenspace, and game room. It is great for families who want to have adult convos and kids who want to game. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. The game room is pretty loud and the prices are pretty high. We had a tower of fries and Caesar salad which is a really odd mix but somehow satisfying. The fries were good and the salad was ok-needs a better dressing I think. I ordered via the bar which was slammed but the service was decent enough. 5 stars for idea and layout, 3 stars for food, 1 star for parking, and 2 stars for price. read more

Really fun new addition to south tampas dining scene. We decided to check it out last minute and were so pleased we did. Valet up front or self parking on the side streets. Fresh and bright inside with a lovely scent (think edition vibes). Big bar in the middle and plenty of booths and tables all around. We started with cocktails (both very good) and their local beer & cider menu is also on point. True to its "glamorous sports bar vibe" it has big screen tvs all around and super high up so no one standing near the bar will block. Our server Ebony was FANTASTIC; she took the time to explain some highlights of the menu and tell us about not only her preferences but what she has seen be popular. The table next to us had wings and a flatbread that both looked delicious. We had the nachos with chicken to start. Nachos were a super generous portion and perfectly portioned and topped. For mains we split the smash burger with a side of the zucchini fries. The smash burger was delicious. Genuinely delicious. Creamy American, perfectly shredded lettuce, cold crispy tomato and pickle. Not at all greasy and the bun was fresh. The zucchini fries were also 10/10. Lightly battered, super hot and fresh and very tasty. Would get everything again for sure. The atmosphere at 1983 was great and our server was also wonderful--friendly, attentive, and clearly trying his best throughout the night. Unfortunately, the food experience didn't quite match the rest. I ordered the steak slider special, and the first slider I bit into was completely raw. It hadn't even been seared on one side and was cold in the middle. The other sliders were also undercooked, which made me realize no one had asked how I wanted the steak cooked. I typically order medium rare, but this was far beyond that--it was simply raw. Our waiter came over and was very polite about it. Even he looked at it and said something along the lines of, "Oh wow, you probably want that cooked a bit more," which I appreciated because he acknowledged the issue right away. They did take it back and fix it. However, when the manager brought the corrected plate out, the interaction felt a bit dismissive. The comment was something like, "Here's your up-cooked food," said in a way that felt like they were doing me a favor rather than addressing the fact that the slider had come out raw and not even seared on one side. There was also a remark along the lines of, "If anyone else needs their food up-cooked let me know," which didn't really acknowledge the actual issue with the dish. I also couldn't help but notice that our waiter was outside making drinks for a while, which made it seem like the restaurant might have been understaffed or not utilizing staff in the most efficient way. Overall, the atmosphere and service from our waiter were great, and there's definitely potential here. I'd be open to trying it again. That said, given the reputation of this hospitality group, I did expect a bit more attention to detail from the kitchen and management. read more

This is our second time coming here and we chopped the first time up to it being brand new and we tried to give grace tonight because it was a game night but this was a horrible experience. We sat for about 30 mins and no one had greeted us or provided water we had to let hostess know. Our waitress came over and apologized that she didnt realize she had a table. We ordered a bucket of surfside teas we were brought suncruisers are waitress said she told the bartender surfsides and saw they did suncruisers. Im not sure why suncruisers were still brought. Then pink lemonade surfsides were brought we again ask for teas and we were finally brought surfside teas. Food was sent back three times and drinks were sent back another time. Redoing nachos took 20 minutes. No manager was noticeable or approached any table. Barely saw waitress and had to flag her or someone down to get her. For these prices food is not worth it and small portions. Sides inedible. For a sports bar televisions and audio not well equipped. Overall so disappointed we had high expectations. read more

Every other Arcade bar concept I've been to has been an adult arcade vibe so I was expecting something similar when I tried '83. My friend and I went for lunch on a Saturday and sat outside. We immediately regretted the decision, as the patio is next to the arcade, which is designed for kids. The patio was chaos. The music was loud and there were kids running around everywhere. At that point we were committed so we decided to get our food and leave asap. Well, so much for that plan. Our server was nice enough, took our drink and food orders fairly promptly. However, after about 45 minutes of waiting, I was about ready to up and leave. The server had come to our table three or four times saying the food would be out any minute. Eventually the manager came over and said the kitchen was backed up, even though at that point many of the tables were either served food or done eating. Another table was sat after us, and got food before we did. He blamed the wait on the chicken breast that had to go on my friends salad, which was a weak excuse. Our food comes, I had a turkey blt with avocado and waffle fries. When I ordered it, she gave me the selection of fries and didn't bother to mention that waffle fries were an extra charge. By the time I got them, my expensive fries were. The inside of the restaurant looked nicer, I am not sure if the service is better in there. All in all, to pay $30+ for a mediocre sandwich, fries, and iced tea in a chaotic environment with slow service seems a bit steep and I can't say I'm in a hurry to come back. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place because it's cute and close to home; but honestly it missed the mark on all fronts. To start, my friend inquired about a table for 3 and was told that they were full with no opportunity to be added to the list even though they had reservations open online. That aside, we were able to sit at the open bar seating which was fine by us. As many reviewers mentioned, the service is very slow. When our drinks finally arrived (a rose, margarita, and Bloody Mary) none of them were up to par. The rose was very clearly some type of sweet white wine (not sure why the server didn't catch that before coming to the table) and the margarita and Bloody Mary were just bad. Since the service was slow, it took awhile to notify staff for replacements. Our server was very nice but it was odd that she didn't catch bringing a white wine, a sparkling rose, and finally a flat rose all to the same person. Regarding food, everything was underwhelming. The smash burger was pretty thick (looked good to me; but probably not great for someone expecting a true smash burger), the quiche plate was hot (but the quiche was not), and the steak hash bowl didn't come with hollandaise as listed on the menu (they brought out a side but should've kept it because it had no flavor) and the steak was overly salted whereas the potatoes lacked seasoning. She didn't know they had a drink menu and wasn't sure how to use the iPad so our drinks were sent to the wrong bar. When they were finally located and delivered they were warm and wasn't offered to be remade even after asking for a cup of ice for them. Food took a while to be delivered and wrong food was delivered to wrong tables. Space was tight by the kitchen and food was delivered to other tables by being carried over our heads which we did not appreciate. Food was okay. Zucchini fries were good, but again took a while. Cuban sandwich was okay. Definitely had better around town. Asian chicken salad made into a wrap was good. Breakfast flatbread was huge and quite good. Roasted chicken entree was good. They were out of many of their draft beer selections, but apparently the keg guys didn't show up. Where things went from 4* to 3 * happened at 9:50 PM where TVs showing the game went black. There were at least 20 people watching the game and visibly annoyed. One TV remained on, so if you were really flexible you could contort your body from your seat to see that one. We asked our server about the game and she understood our frustration, but the problem remained. 20 minutes later the game came back on, but at that point I had closed out and was ready to go. I also love that on the other side of the restaurant they have arcade games. It's so fun to play after a few drinks and makes it feel like more than just a bar. We came here with a bachelor group of 12, expecting a fun time, and it was a huge disappointment. The groom is 27 years old and presented a valid government-issued ID, yet the staff refused to serve him with no clear explanation. What made it worse was the attitude--staff were rude, dismissive, and told him "pass it along, buddy" instead of handling the situation professionally. No effort to clarify, no respect, just poor customer service. If you're planning a group outing or looking to have a good time, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else. The food? Pretty standard sports-bar fare. All fine. We didn't come here expecting Michelin stars; we came because they were promoting the fights on Instagram. What a let-down. The fights were on the TVs, but the speakers were blasting music. When we asked servers/bartenders about switching the audio, we were told "corporate controls the TVs and speakers". Odd, since this is a brand-new, independently owned restaurant that had no issue flipping channels and playing game commentary for college football earlier in the day. How are you not sharing audio for a fight you're advertising! And sure enough, partway through the main event, the music suddenly cut out and the fight commentary came on. So, I guess either "corporate" finally decided to come around (at midnight) or maybe the excuse was just never true. Bottom-line: Average food, misleading hype. Really cool looking bar with a lots of tv's. However, I came here for the Canelo vs. Crawford fight since they had been promoting it online. When the fight finally started, instead of putting on the commentary, the restaurant kept blasting music (at one point even playing Fergalicious) over the speakers. Even after I asked multiple workers to help me on this issue. It completely drowned out the fight audio and made it really hard to enjoy what I came for. If you're going to advertise a big fight, it'd be nice to actually play the sound so guests can experience it properly. read more

It's as if everything that is coming out of the kitchen is "Sysco" and not cooked from fresh. For such a nice place with great potential, I would STRONGLY recommend they start cooking from fresh.
