Restaurant review only food was good, but service not so much. It felt like our waiter was annoyed we were there. We came here after watching the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain and were eager to warm up. We were sat outside even though there was room inside. It took awhile for the overhead heater to turn on. There were plastic flaps that could have been closed to block the wind, but instead we had to sit in the chilly and windy weather. There were also a lot of bees around. French toast was really good. The breakfast potatoes were a little overcooked. We were given attitude when asked to split the bill. It is a cute spot though. read more

Picked 2 Cats as our post hike meal after a very long but wonderful day of hiking through Acadia and it did not disappoint. We were sat almost immediately and then promptly greeted by our waitress who took our coffee order. I then ordered the Ho Hum and chocolate chip pancakes (to share) and my boyfriend had the lobster eggs Benedict. This is a MUST stop while in Bar Harbor. The lobster Benedict was absolutely amazing. There were a few on Yelp that complained stating that it was bland and overpriced, but that wasn't the case. The lobster Benedict was $32.95 and worth EVERY penny and I wouldn't hesitate to order again. The home fries were delicious, make sure to get their house made hot sauce. We also had a granola bowl, which was great and a Cat Paw that had the right balance of cinnamon and sugar and highly recommend. Our waitress suggested putting butter on the cat paw and she was spot on, it was great. A cat paw is kind of like a biscuit and cinnamon roll combined..... it was great. We sat on the front patio which was great to see that they are pet friendly as well. One of the best brunches that we've had in a really long time and would highly recommend. read more

We went to 2 Cats the first morning we were in the area and liked it so much that we went there for breakfast 2 out of the other 3 days we were there. The food and organic coffee were excellent (in particular the blueberry pancakes, special benedict, Mediterranean breakfast, biscuits and hash browns), the atmosphere and cat-centric decor were just right, and the service was great. While one of our servers was good and one was OK (no problem with the service but she was kinda grouchy), one stood out as one of the best servers I've ever had. Not only was Marie friendly and helpful but when she found out it was my birthday, she surprised me by singing the most beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday" I have ever heard. What a charming place! As a cat lady, I loved all the vintage cat decor, including sweet little foot prints on the tables. We tried the Maine blueberry pancakes (so good!!), home fries (very good spices and flavor), biscuits (so tender, melt in your mouth, but they don't bring enough strawberry butter with them). My friends and I came here for brunch on our last day and I really enjoyed it! The restaurant is cute and the decor is aesthetically pleasing. The place is great with outdoor seating but one complain is the tables are really small. overall the food was great and the side portions were amazingly big which was a big plus and our server was luckily very nice since impression from the host we got we were little apprehensive about the service being not so good. This place is so amazing! They only serve breakfast though, FYI. Their menu had a lot of creative options! I got the lobster Benedict which had big pieces of lobster nestled between 2 poached eggs and 2 delicious biscuits, topped with a delicious sauce. It was served with home fries and fruit. I enjoyed all of this with a cool glass of iced tea, while watching a humming bird, honey bees, and butterflies in the beautiful wildflower garden. Be sure to sit outside if you can. We stopped by Bar Harbor for a late breakfast our first full day in Bar Harbor back in August. I'd seen it listed on a couple of Best Of lists and was glad we went. The place is adorable: full of fun decorations and bright colors (plus the restaurant sign is so dang cute!). They have a lot of outdoor seating, and the flowers out front attract a lot of beautiful butterflies. It being right on Cottage Street gives you a good chance to people watch too. The food was fresh and delicious: I got the summer scramble, and my partner got an omelette. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the strawberry butter and biscuits were a lovely addition. The main reason why I'm deducting a star is that service was very slow. It was difficult to flag our server to even get refills on our water, or to make our order generally. read more

Please, 2cats, if you put eggs Benedict on the menu, make sure you have a POACHED egg. My eggs were nearly hard boiled. Among the thick ham and thicker biscuit, you need a runny yolk to soak into all of that. Unfortunately there was zero runny yolk, which brought this otherwise pretty plate down quite a bit. Eggs Benedict should come runny and if you want them hard boil, request that. I guess here you need to request a RUNNY yolk that you'd expect. read more

The good news: some of the best fresh hash we've ever had. Awesome potatoes too. Spiced and flavorful! Also, good service. The downsides: the pancakes were severely under done. And the blueberry pancakes had approximately one teaspoon or less of blueberries. Not what you would expect to pay for almost $20. Lastly the biscuits. Totally inedible. Rock hard and dry. The interior is so stinking cute with all the cats and laid back feel. I got the vegan scramble w potatoes and a soft buttery biscuit w strawberry butter. This was simply fantastic. Lots of food, great tofu flavor. The potatoes are a bit salty but the scrambled is under seasoned so they go well together. The biscuit was so soft and warm and flaky. Loved this dish. The blueberry pancakes were very good. Comes with regular maple syrup, not blueberry syrup fyi. The kids got raspberry almond pancakes, which they did not care for. I have to agree, the raspberries gave the pancakes too mushy of a texture and the almonds felt out of place. Flavor is great, but pass of you are picky about textures like us. My husband loved his bfast burrito w black beans and potatoes. The beans were homemade tasting. Came here for brunch while visiting Acadia. I loved the quirky atmosphere and the friendly staff. We were lucky to be seated immediately, but it would have been worth a wait. I opted for the Lobster Eggs Benedict and did not disappoint! It was so fresh, delicious, and as you can see in the photo, they give generous portions. Coming from Texas, I thought the breakfast potatoes were just okay, but still good. I don't have a photo, but my friend got the corn beef hash and she said it was delicious to. I appreciated the friendly and happy staff. It made for a relaxing and comforting atmosphere. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather. If I lived locally, this would be a place that I would make effort to go to regularly. I would suggest either coming early before the brunch crowd gets here, or being prepared to wait a while because this is situated right at the front of the entrance to the harbor and it seems to get really busy quickly. By the time we were done eating there was a very long wait. Before we chose to eat here we read a lot of different reviews from other places on the harbor, and I would say that this is a highly rated choice for a reason and if you have the time to go it's worth it. Another tip that I would have, is to park your car closer to the actual harbor and walk your way up to the restaurant, because by the time you're done eating there isn't going to be much parking available closer to the actual harbor if that's what you're planning on doing after grabbing a bite to eat. read more

Ate here about 8 years ago and had a really good experience so we made sure to come back. Food was good, still has great presentation. My husband really liked his Eggs Benedict. My scrambled eggs with feta were delicious ( I could have used more feta though to be honest). The fried potatoes had lots of onions which I wasn't too into - and the bacon I ordered extra was a maple syrup kind of bacon which is fine - but made the bacon limp and sweet which I just didn't really want and didn't realize that was the kind I was getting. I always remembered how good the biscuits were last time - but this time all mine came with was a tiny little scoop of butter which didn't cover the whole biscuit and didn't have any flavor although it was touted as special strawberry butter. Yes, I could have asked for more - but it wasn't helping how dry the biscuit was. Maybe honey as an option would be good? Service was good, atmosphere was good, and would recommend a visit. My comments are based on my personal preferences - not saying the food was bad. Make sure to go early to get a nice seat. You can sit in the sun on the porch or on the deck/porch in the shade. My girl friend and I were super hungry and we were going to go to the cafe next door to this place but unfortunately they stopped serving breakfast at 11. So we decided to stop here for breakfast. Unfortunately that was a really big mistake. The atmosphere itself inside is... well weird. Nothing really makes all that much sense inside. Very outdated decor and you just feel claustrophobic sitting in there, at least where we sat (roughly the back near the bathroom door) The menu itself is a bit of a disorganized disaster. Just to give you an idea... they have two espresso drinks under "coffee" section and an entirely separate section for espressos... you'd think they'd add that to the espresso section? There's also a part of the menu that says "with any bagel" but they don't list what bagels they even have... so I guess if you shout out a random bagel flavor they're on it! Or probably not. After scoping out this disastrous menu, I went with a safe pick that you can't mess up. Pancakes. Blueberry pancakes. How can anyone mess up a classic breakfast food from a place that primarily serves breakfast? We waited 50 minutes, not even over exaggerating, our poor waitress was walking over to our table just refilling our coffee cups multiple times because, what else are you supposed to do as a waitress working for a disorganized staff? 50 minutes for corned beef hash with eggs (what my girl friend got) and blueberry pancakes. Three of them. So our food finally shows up, and yep. 50 minutes for this poor presentation of pancakes. They were raw inside. They're beyond stuffed with blueberries and just raw batter from the pancakes which would just make someone sick. The corned beef hash was pretty good and they serve it with a biscuit and some strawberry butter, although I did find it to be heavy on the salty side for the corned beef hash. We told our waitress about the pancake, and she apologized and of course we told her please don't it has nothing to do with you at all because she was very sweet and attentive. Manager then came over, and she at first goes to the wrong table to address the matter... she looked very lost as she started to count the tables to see which table was which. She tried to make things right by saying she'd personally make one for us. I appreciate that kind of thing, but after 50 minutes waiting for blueberry pancakes, from your head chef, what difference would you make? This place is a big no go from us. I really hope people don't really read these positive reviews as something promising. Maybe bad timing? Sure... but you work in an area where you get tourists, you should be on top of your game and service should be quick. Think this, if the service is this slow and daunting, and things coming back raw and sloppy, imagine what type of kitchen nightmares cross contamination is happening in the back. We really felt like we were on an episode of kitchen nightmares when one of the staff members began harassing our waitress right in front of people. Needless to say, we gave her a great tip because it sucks that waitresses have to deal with all the heat when working at a restaurant is team effort and it's the kitchen staff in the backs responsibility and managers responsibility to make sure the food going out is worth eating. The manager also stated it's "busy" and they're "overwhelmed" which is no excuse. She's right there, it's no excuse.... So don't use it as such. If you can't handle the large abundance of tables you've created, then downsize the amount of tables instead of trying to pull in a bunch of people for a cash grab. read more

2 cats has always been my go-to when I want to splurge in Bar Harbor. The outdoor space is great and in indoor funky, and you can get excellent to go pastries (and T shirts) just inside the front door. That said, this is my second really disappointing visit. There is always a wait for a table. But 10 minutes for a menu I didn't need? 10-15 minutes later my latte arrived - lukewarm. No napkin. No water, no silverware. My short stack of blueberry pancakes and side of bacon arrived 10-12 minutes later, woefully underdone. I sent them back. Same now cold bacon arrived over 10 minutes later, with equally undercooked pancakes. I gave up and went inside to pay, where my bill was more than if I'd ordered the combined full breakfast - and didn't get comped. Same experience last time, but with eggs Benedict. Everything veryone is short on staff. But I expect more from the kitchen and staff in a Bar Harbor icon. read more

My son loved his buttery blueberry pancakes and (of course) especially loved the maple syrup. My husband enjoyed his hash and claims that they were done "just right." The highlight of my day dish and his was the homemade biscuits with strawberry butter. The biscuits were fresh, generous in size, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. As a former Southerner, he approves. My dish, the Farmers breakfast was requested with two poached eggs versus scrambled. And they were indeed poached perfectly. The spicy sausage was rather small in portion and hard, but the flavors were as expected. My husband claims that his drip coffee was perfectly fine. As a visual person, I appreciate when dishes are served for the eyes as well as stomach. As I view other photos, I regret that I did not get the Benedict instead. Overall, I will say that the two cats aesthetic and ambience sets the tone for the meal and I definitely do not regret visiting this establishment. We hope to return next time are in town. read more

Really fresh and homemade brekkie spot, perfect for a Sunday Brunch in Maine. Our waitress was really nice and we were able to customize our omelettes to add on more veggies. Large portion size, enough to share between two. Also, definitely try the homemade hot sauce, which tasted amazing with the omelet. The toast is baked at home and I would recommend instead of the biscuit tbh (even though biscuit was also tasty).
