Everyone working is super nice. The atmosphere is clean and welcoming. Junior is the best and most accommodating server I have encountered in an all you can eat situation. Highly recommended for fantastic sushi and vibes.

Check out the photo of the new prix fixe menu! Sounds like a great value for $35 and the portions are huge! Now onto the sushi... Either these beloveds sushi restaurants are begging to fade into ubiquity or they all tasted the same from go because this is now the third or fourth spot I've recently revisited and found myself wondering what exactly makes any of these different from each other. I spotted some new specials on the social media handles for this restaurant which put it right on my radar. We tried to pop in at Valentine's Day, but they were slammed and we found our way back there a week or so ago to give it a try. We arrived and found there were no actual references to the new specials on the menu so after showing the social media post, the head chef behind the bar quickly said yes, we can make those and that we put in our order for the crispy sushi rice with spicy tuna. Four fairly thick slabs of sushi rice that was crisp on one side, came out, topped with cool chopped spicy tuna, and a sliver of jalapeño. It was a nice way to start the meal but very starch heavy and certainly not something I could revisit. We then ordered some Nigiri and it was as you expect. Ratio of fish to rice was fair but the fish quality was average and the rice really didn't have any flavor. Do you know they serve was pretty tasty and the muscles were decent too, but I found the salmon to be pretty lean and the Cajun version of a bit on the salty side. I ordered up some rolls as well, but really couldn't tell you which ones I enjoyed or didn't enjoy because they all tasted pretty much the same, best described as raw focused with spicy sauces. It was kind of a bummer because the descriptions made each rule sound so unique but it just didn't deliver on arrival. Sitting at the bar, the service was fast and everything was made fresh. I do love watching the Sushi chefs make work their magic and feel it's a big part of the overall experience. Unfortunately, Chef didn't really interact with us across the bar and we had to ask for their attention when we wanted it and I do hope for a little bit more participation when seated at these places. All in all, this is a good local sushi spot. I just remembered it being a bit more novel and unique which at this point is what I'm looking for in a new Sushi favorite.

Great price for very fresh sushi. $34 for all you can eat the yellowtail was amazingly fresh. The rolls were yummy and inventive. My husband was able to find quail egg for his tabico which he loves and this is the first place we have found it in Reno. All you can eat, comes with appetizers and things like edamame and Goza. The rules were delicious and I really loved the popper which is pictured below. The only reason I don't give a five is because of ambience but honestly why pay for ambience at this great price for sushi?

I genuinely enjoy 2 Tha Joint. I've eaten here many times. It's just one of my go to spots. But most recently I noticed they added a few items. Thought that was cool and worth trying. So I'm sharing. They're pretty good! I enjoy a good jalapeño popper. And the spicy tuna over crispy rice is a nice addition. As many sushi places, they take their time making the rolls but it's worth it.

This was my 3rd and probably last visit for a long time. Sadly I've not reviewed Tha Joint previously because my earlier experiences were better than the last. The location is great for me, close to home and even when it's busy you can usually find parking. The inside isn't really decorated in any specific theme from what I can tell, looks like your typical strip mall sushi place. For this meal, we came for my daughters birthday for a late lunch. It wasn't very crowded but everything took forever. Ordering, getting drinks, getting the appetizers, the Sushi, it all took much longer than normal. There were lot's of employees so not sure what the issue was, but it almost felt as if we were inconveniencing everyone just being there. One thing that really annoys me at any sushi place is when they don't tell you what they have brought to the table. They just throw down a plate and let you guess which roll or Nigiri it is. I also don't really like the roll options, they are all very similar, most of them are spicy or have cream cheese, etc. vs. fresh fish rolls. The nigiri has always been pretty good here so that is what I will typically stick with. After a 2+ hour dining experience (not because we wanted to be there that long) we wrapped up and headed out. One of the servers did apologize to us for the long wait which was nice bit a little too late to redeem this place in my eyes, will move on to one of the many other great sushi spots in Reno.

This is my second time coming here. The service is absolutely amazing, the food is always fresh, I enjoy doing all you can eat, it does include endless sake.

I ordered takeout, the sushi was decent but not really the best I've had. It was a really busy restaurant too! They had a lot of customers so it was a little bit of a wait which I wasn't mad at . My order got messed up though

This is a great spot for all you can eat sushi! I've found the fish here to be fresher and tastier than the overpriced casino sushi spots. Service is almost always on point depending on busyness and staffing. The restaurant is definitely a great spot to enjoy AYCE sushi!

First time here and loved it! The "prison theme" is a cute concept, but glad that other than the naming of Sushi rolls, nothing else is prison-like! We went for the All You Can Eat Sushi, and I can say everything we ordered was excellent. For appetizers we had the Mussels and Miso Soup and then sampled a variety of Maki Sushi, Hand Rolls and Nigiri and even had room for a Quail Egg and Tobiko Shooter. Oh, and I can't forget the Green Tea Ice Cream to complete the meal. I can't say enough how much we loved this place. I think it's safe to say we will recidivate back 2 Tha Joint!!

This is the first sushi place that I have been too that is not in a casino. I am not a huge sushi person , but I saw they had vegetarian option so I decided to try their tempura veggie. When I say the service and roll was amazing. It was so delicious I was craving it after. I HIGHLY recommend the Tempura Veggie. I also tried their angry bird appetizer, which was just fried chicken and sauce. The chicken was good , but not the highlight of my visit.

I'm giving this place and unusual five-star review, especially for an all-you-can-eat sushi joint. The sushi was quite tasty and seemed very fresh. Service was fast and could not have been more friendly. The price was reasonable for all you can eat sushi, although I always eat way too much and regret it. They even brought a nice little mochi or ice cream dessert. The dining room was clean and wide open, and the bathrooms were also presentable.

Nice spot want to go back definitely. Nice servers the sushi was so delicious and fresh. Came to lunch with a friend needed the all you can eat. It was such a nice time the pink lady was soooo good probably my fave roll. Music choice was upbeat and friendly. Will bring a larger crowd here for some fun.

The menu didn't feel very varied--it was mostly the same types of rolls (crab mostly) with different sauces. That may just be personal preference, since I tend to like shrimp rolls (either cooked or uncooked). When we arrived, we were seated in the far right corner. There were other tables nearby, but because we were a large group, it took a while for anyone to take our drink orders. We even had two separate servers come by to ask for drinks. Once we ordered sushi, that's where things really went downhill. We were split across the tables (four people per table), and although we placed our orders at the same time, half of our group didn't receive their sushi until about 30 minutes after the other part of us. It felt like the order process wasn't managed well. Customer service was also inconsistent. We had to keep asking for items we never received, like refills, and we didn't get straws. Even though the restaurant was busy, I've been to other sushi places on busy nights and never experienced service this slow. The only thing I truly liked was the appetizers. The beef teriyaki was the best thing I had--really tasty. I'd recommend that, but only if you have a lot of time to spare, because the wait for food and follow-ups was a struggle. When we tried to order dessert, it took so long for someone to come back that a few people ended up giving up and not getting dessert at all. Overall, customer service took far too long, and the sushi was just OK--not especially flavorful or memorable for me. The rolls tasted pretty similar, and I don't think I'll be returning.

We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. Actually, I ate more than my fill. Enjoyed it completely. My sushi coma was justified. So let's get the cons out of the way first. My son and I sat at the bar, and on the big screen against the wall, CNN FAKE NEWS was playing. Personally irritating, and I don't think they should be showing news shows from any side at a restaurant. We were in during lunch hours, and towards the end of our visit we were the last party there. That being said, clearing out our empty plates and getting refills wasn't very expeditious. I sat probably for about 15 minutes with an empty soda cup. I would understand if it was busy and at night. Disappointingly, lunch has its own separate menu, and you can't order dinner rolls for the lunch price, like you can at Ohana, Hinoki and other places I've been to and frequented. Now that, that's out of the way let's get to the rest of the review. I'm guessing the owners, we're super nice. We were greeted right as we walked in the door and chose our seats. Victor was our sushi chef. Great guy, and turns out some great sushi. The next time I go I will be sure to sit with him, but the other two Cooks were nice also. The entire restaurant, especially the bar area was spotless! I can tell they all take pride in what they do. My sin and I ordered probably 65% of the lunch menu. The quail egg shooters, whcih we ordered about a dozen total were SUPER good, and served in a modified Oriental soup "spoon" instead of a shot glass. Sort of awkward to eat, but doable and tasty. My personal favorite (lunch) roll was the "Crazy Dream" roll. SO many different flavor profiles. They had unique takes on some of the nigiri and appetizers, like the 'butterfly' and the tempura Jalapeno opposed to other sushi joints. So all in all, it was good enough for me to go back and give the dinner menu a try. Well slap my a** and call me Betty! Haha I have been eating all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Reno…read morefor over 10 years now and this is the first place I've been able to actually taste how good the fish actually is. To be clear, this is not an AYCE sushi restaurant, and there's other offerings besides sushi including ramen, salad, steaks, and various teriyaki plates. Apparently the food is hand selected by the owner, and helped prepared by the Japanese wife in the kitchen. From what I understand, the line cooks follow traditional Japanese ways including only being able to make a sushi roll after being a line cook for 5 years. As for the food itself, these are the things I've tried: -Maguro (tuna) sashimi: absolutely delightful -Sake (salmon) nigri: really good -Unagi (Eel) sashimi: my favorite nigri, the unagi was so tender it was falling apart. Best I've ever had. -Kazo sake: the combination of all the textures and flavors made this one of my top choices. Think of eating it like a deviled egg, if you're able to fit the whole thing in your mouth, you can taste all the flavors at once. If not, it's still tasty and you can taste the pieces individually! -Mt Rose roll: the textures and flavors were really good! -Fire Ocean roll: Absolutely delicious, and spicy! -Spicy garlic edamame: I wasn't impressed. No crisp on the garlic. The garlic, sweet chili sauce, and edamame felt like they were all cooked separately and combined on the serving plate. The garlic seemed like it was from a jar, and the sauce from the bottle. -Tempura banana with strawberry mochi: we devoured this, the chocolate sauce made the combination of flavors pleasant. I wish the tempura banana had a bit more going on - more crisp and less batter. -Wasabi: the wasabi actually tastes real and not like horseradish!!! It blends into the soy sauce beautifully and it's creamy. Drinks -Sapporo with the Junmai Ginjo sake: light and crisp, really yummy -Honey Citron tea- delightful Service While our service was generally pleasant, we did end up going at least 20 mins at one point without any word from our server while waiting on food. We didn't mind, and it was nice to not be rushed, but some others may want to feel more taken care of. My only slight complaint is that I didn't keep my chopsticks after dinner for our dessert, but we just ended up sharing the one pair we had. It would have been nice to be reminded to keep my chopsticks or to be offered another pair. Ambiance The space is relatively large and Miyabi expanded years ago to accommodate a larger dining area. The only slightly confusing part - I wish it was more clear which door you enter from. The only indicator is the Open sign on the left hand set of doors. All in all, I really enjoy and appreciate good quality food, and while you are paying the price for it here, it's justified. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Sadly there were too many flies landing on my food and baby, I don't want to give them another try. The only good item I've found on their menu is the Mt Rose roll and edamame (for the black salt). The lobster roll was also a rip off; it's covered in sauce so you can't even taste the lobster.

The restaurant - actually the wife of the owner - tried to charge us dinner prices even though we arrived 40 minutes before lunch was over. It took nearly 15 minutes before the bill was corrected (one would think that the owner's wife would have had that authority).
