stopped by the 20/twenty for something light to eat before a late dinner...the bar and outside lounge were very inviting with plenty of seating, outdoor heaters and fire pits to keep warm during a chilly evening. The staff was prompt and courteous and continually checked to see if you needed anything else. The coffee was excellent as well as the small plates. Later that evening we enjoyed a delicious dinner which was prepared promptly and served in an appetizing manner...once again our waiter addressed our every need. We were staying here at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and this restaurant was conveniently located inside, just to the right of the lobby. It's bright, light and sunny, and there was zero crowd first thing in the morning. In fact, anytime we passed by, there really wasn't a crowd of any sort. I love a restaurant without a crowd! We stopped in for breakfast and opted for the buffet on a Monday morning. It was an easy going experience- we were told to seat ourselves and were promptly greeted by a server who brought us menus but ultimately sold us on the buffet. The buffet itself was simple but offered plenty. There was nothing fancy, but a little of everything. Scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, oatmeal at the far end ( I almost missed this) and pancakes. There were a few cereals to choose from, fruit plates, and the usual "continental style" assortment of breads and pastries. Our server appeared to be on break for the majority of our breakfast, but since the restaurant was not crowded, we had no problems finding another server when we needed something. For a chill morning, we really didn't mind the self-help breakfast experience :) Pricing. I believe the buffet was $20 per person. We were not charged for our 2 year old son. However, we were given a $30 breakfast voucher for being platinum spg members, which was nice. Overall, I thought this was a nice, relaxed dining experience with good but simple food. Went to eat breakfast on July 2nd (Holiday week). Restaurant was completely empty no more than 15-20 people seated and was told 15-20 minute wait. When an additional couple came in and asked why the long wait, Erika stated the kitchen was backed up due to banquets....How do you not plan to have hotels staffed to handle guests and banquets on a holiday week? Huge disappointment as this traditionally is one of our favorite breakfast spots as frequent guests of the Westin and Sheraton. The service here is great! We were blown away by James who was attentive and gave us good sightseeing tips. The service was soooooo good we went a second night and were served by Mathew. We have a toddler, so sometimes at nicer restaurants we have less than stellar experiences but both gentlemen paid her the appropriate amount of attention to her as well. On to the food- we would give it two thumbs up and the drink menu was great as well. We would recommend the Maple Bacon Bourbon drink and if you happen to be there on a Sunday the Prime Rib is awesome! Sat on the patio with a group of coworkers at 10am. Decided to skip breakfast and wait for lunch so the wait person removed the breakfast menus. At 10:45ish they brought out lunch menus. 11:45 and a coworker had to get up and ask for someone to take our order. Young gentlemen came out, did not apologize for the delay and when I said "we haven't seen anyone in a while" his response was "i didn't want to interrupt the meeting". You're a restaurant, not a board room. Please interrupt next time and see if the group staring at the menus for an hour would like to order anything. If the service isn't good, there's no point in commenting on the food. read more

This review is for their Sunday brunch. We've gone twice now and throughly enjoyed it both times. Their unlimited mimosas and mimosa flights are excellent. Their benedicts (my favorite is their Italian Benedict) and potatoes were cooked to perfection. However, what made this place so great was their service. Today when we went for brunch there was a 25 minute wait so we opted to eat in their bar area. Matt, the bartender, had to tend the busy bar and wait on our table, plus one other. Waitress didn't seem interested in waiting our table, didn't check in with us after another member of the waitstaff brought our food. Let me start by saying this used to be an amazing go-to place for locals. I was basically here every weekend & loved to spread the word. But I'm not sure if management changed or what but they have gone severely downhill. Maybe fine for tourist as they don't know what it used to be like but terrible for regulars. Came in on a sunny Sunday which used to be very popular but literally not one person was there & even took over 5 minutes for an employee to appear. Should have been my sign to turn around. Happy hour is now only in the bar & a tiny area outside, consists of just two appetizers & bruschetta. New menu is no bueno. Where did the ricotta mason jars go? The brussel sprouts? Calamari? Cauliflower? Flatbreads? Really anything decent to share? I will sadly miss coming here regularly with all my friends. Hope they pull it back together. read more

Food is good and tasty here but a little pricey compare to standard sit down restaurants since there is not much choice here in the Sheraton resort. My family order take out from this place all the time to save time. We also love to use our SPG membership benefit to order breakfast take out and head over to Legoland to start the day. They are always very busy and under staffed in the morning. It's gotten worse especially with the construction. Some nice staff try to make up the extra effort to help but sometime some are just way too busy so they ignore you. Also to note the breakfast hours are different between Sat and Sun. If you are trying to use your SPG benefit, be aware of the hour difference. read more

First, let me say the setting is beautiful and patio dining is great. However, the service and overall organization can be improved. We were 10 people with 2 children. Our breakfast was served a bit cold with no utensils at the table. We had to ask when we found a server; then our food was colder. There was no offering of coffee or juice, jam or jelly. The prices on the website, the prices charged and the prices on the offered menus did not match. The food, itself was adequate; nothing special. Considering the setting and the expense ($9.00) for two slices of bacon, we expected better service and better food. When we talked with the restaurant manager, he had an excuse for each issue, rather than an apology. I would give them some time to get their act together before dining there. read more

A good laugh is sunshine in the house, I once heard. Cheryl and I met up and laughed by the pool to enjoy the Spring Sun at the Sheraton and mingle among the hotel guests. The beautiful day actually tempted us to skip lunch and just take the rest of the day off. We made our way to Twenty/20 through the lobby and sat with the light lunch time crowd outside on the patio surrounded with a westerly view of the ocean horizon and strawberry fields below and a gentle breeze. The lunch menu prices are on the high side. With tip, $36 was spent for lunch. Her Chinese Chop Salad was okay, but my Baby Spinach and Goat Cheese (on the side) salad topped with a good size Salmon (seemingly about 8 ounces?) was pretty good. I really enjoyed the complementing Warm Polenta Croutons. I would come back for lunch as it's a great spot with great service, but spending $36 for lunch daily isn't good for the frugal minded. read more

Get that it's COVId times and staffing an issue but to wait an hour for so so food at this price point is unacceptable. At least the kid's meal was only $10! The most excellent service throughout the night from our lovely server Kambria alone deserves five stars! If you go to Twenty/20, you should ask to sit in her section if you make reservations, she's a nutty crack up and we loved it! Thanks to Restaurant Week, we trekked on up to North County and gave this place a try. Glad we did because the food was amazing. I started off with the Korean barbecue beef and minted watermelon salad between bites of the fried calamari we ordered from the regular menu. Yum. Between our appetizer and meal, we shared a bottle of red vino, great suggestion from our server since it was paired nicely with the swine we were about to devour. Next up was our entree, the Twenty/20 pork trio which consisted of: local artisan sausage and rapini tender slow braised belly and crispy corn bread pan roasted tenderloin and red lentils with bourbon pan sauce. It. Was. The. Bomb. The tapas style dessert from their sweet tree was a nice treat and closed out this wonderful meal on a very satisfying note. Okay, now that I got the food out of the way, I'll write about the overall experience. From start to finish, things were good with the exception of one rolling of the eyes witnessed by some of us when two others in our party ordered pre-dinner happy hour cocktails after we had already closed out our tab. I'll dismiss that tiny bit of attitude because she caught herself doing it and redeemed herself by blowing some sunshine up our way before we got seated for our 6:30 dinner reservation. The Carlsbad Cosmopolitan was worth it, but the thick orange slice floating in my martini glass got in the way between sips. Not enough can be said about Kambria, I think she was a stand-up comic in her past life because she kept us entertained and happy throughout the evening. Service from start to finish was great, I must have been really parched because I guzzled a lot of water between sips of my vino and refills came quickly and unnoticed. Gosh, were we really there for four hours last night? Time sure did fly when we were having fun. If I was in the North County area more, I'd certainly hit up Twenty/20 again. We were informed of tapas night in which the cougars come out. That I am not, but I heard the tapas were one of the best, so this fan will come back for that (and not the cougars). Rawr. read more

What makes a great restaurant dining experience, in my book? The ambiance, the food, the service and the company. And, after the extremely memorable evening, hands down, it gets a 5-star rating. Twenty/20 has the look and feel of a great restaurant. Nicely decorated, very spacious and not too dimly lit, it made a great setting for a wonderful night. Bumping cocktail glasses, with Jojo, we hung out at the cute little bar, for some pre-dinner drinks. Our bar waitress wasn't really little Miss Sunshine, though. When we asked about happy hour, she replied with, "Yes, it's until 7pm." and, promptly walked away. "Excuse me!" I flagged her back to ask her WHAT were the actual specials, which happened to be half off appetizers and $2 off drinks. My Carlsbad Cosmo was a good choice, though a little pricey - almost $10 - at the HH price. When Jay and Melly Su made their appearance, they asked our waitress about the HH specials. We caught a little semi-eye rolling action. Interesting... It really was not the start of a good first impression, but the HH wasn't the real reason we were here. We were looking forward to a Restaurant Week dining treat. THANKFULLY, the overall restaurant experienced was saved by our dynamic and very entertaining server - Kambria. Friendly, informative and attentive - she was able to offer us suggestions that led to an enjoyable dinner. Noshing on lightly crisped calamari, as inspiration, in the end, my restaurant week choices were: - Walnut lamb lollipop and green apple couscous drizzle of pomegranate molasses - Twenty/20 Pork Trio: local Artisans sausage and rapini, tender slow Braised Belly on top of crispy corn bread, pan roasted tenderloin w/ red lentils with bourbon pan sauce - Dessert: a choice of one Tapas dessert from their Sweet Tree The lamb lollipop appetizer was absolutely delicious. The pomegranate molasses drizzle mingled very well with the medium and tender cooked lamb, a truly light balance of a hint of sweet, to accent its seasoning combo. This, I would order, again. The Trio of Pork, was, likewise, a good choice. My favorite was the braised belly, over the crusty cornbread. Melt in your mouth goodness, I love the added flavor the fat provided. Fat, in this case, isn't necessarily a bad thing. For dessert, between the four of us, we got a sampling. The best choice? Hazelnut creme brulee! It was heaven and pushed the limits of my already stretched stomach. Extra kudos to Kambria for recommending our wine, from their very huge wine list. The Bordeaux blend Eponymous was a wonderful compliment to our dining choices. By far, she was the BEST SERVER EVER! Please give that woman a raise. She deserves it. The restaurant week cost, along with the food experience, was definitely worth it. Combined with great company, time flew by fast. Definitely a great experience. Would I choose to eat here, again? I went here for dinner last night (4th of July). My mom had made the reservations and informed the hostess that her two daughters are VEGAN (even though they had a Buffett we probably could have found something to not starve). They said they could make something special. Later, she received a call from Steve, the chef himself, who asked if we were gluten free and what spice level we were okay with. First course: mango avocado salad, spice level high. Second course: BBQ portobello mushrooms with veggie kabobs and corn on the cob with a tarragon infused olive oil. Third course: berries with kiwi and creme brûlée figs cooked with Apple cider vinegar and Sauvignon blanc. I ate every bite! That night, when we got there, Steve came to our table and informed us that he had prepared a special 3-course meal. The food was AMAZING. And he was excited and proud to serve it, not like other places where they seem annoyed and offer you sides like rice and steamed veggies. We were looking for a place to eat in Carlsbad and was recommended this place. It's located at the Westin Hotel. First off, very nice ambiance and good service. But, wow, is this place overpriced!!! Ridiculously overpriced in fact! $48 for a filet, that's no problem, but all it is is a piece of steak on in a plate. If you want a side, that's another $12!!! All their sides range from $12-15 extra. The rest of their meals were very small portions and equally overpriced. I ordered sea bass and it covered a quarter of the plate If I'm going to pay these prices, I would go to Mastros and really enjoy myself. I would never go back for these reasons. read more
