I had spoke to the manager (a guy), and he was super helpful giving me prices of everything and making sure I had the right amount of food for everybody. It was my first time ordering from this establishment and it's honestly really nice inside and quite a bit of parking. This is the "go to" bbq spot when in town, it was very busy for Saturday lunch time so we did spend time in line but after placing our orders, we were getting our food pretty quickly. Delicious. This is Texas barbecue. No need for the barbecue sauce to bring flavor, it's all in the meat. The brisket was tender, juicy, and smoked to perfection. The sausage was lean and packed with flavor. The cream corn is unique - it's sweet and creamy and has a roux that's compliments the corn perfectly. The Cole slaw is just classic, good country slaw. I had the taste of BBQ. Pork to be exact. A coworker frequents this place and when I realized it was 30 min away in SA traffic, I figured I'd likely not go anytime soon. It didn't take very long for my order so customer service is a big plus here. The person at the window/voice box was helpful and polite. I grabbed my plate and prepared for my trek back to the North - but not before I punched off that rib. Listen! If you don't eat anything else there, get the ribs. They are tender and pull from the bone so easily. Surprisingly, the white meat chicken was juicy and tender as well (not so much the second trip though). The potato salad was good but I like to see and taste egg in my potato salad. If it had egg in it, it was either incredibly fine or barely there. The corn was really good. The lemonade tastes homemade and it was really good. Overall it's been a pleasant experience each time I've gone (3 times now). The salad was huge, but severely lacking any balance. Tons and tons of greens, but little of anything else. I mean salads are normally more greens, but this was ridiculous. The chicken was ok. Not bad. Not dry. The turkey and sausage were by far the favs. The sausage especially. Man it was quite good. One of the better ones I've had. The green beans were fresh, but again lacked the better flavors from other places. Bill millers green beans again are better. Man I honestly can't believe I'm saying bill millers is better than anyone. Listen, I'm not saying bill millers is super horrible. In Texas bbq is a religion. You have to stand out. Service was fast when we went. It gets busy fast, but the wait isn't too bad. The ambiance is casual. Order first, then seat yourself, but you see people getting tables first before ordering even though there's a sign that states otherwise. Food comes out pretty fast. It's fresh. The cream corn is delicious, and so is the brisket sandwich. Now my favorite. The chicken is tender, moist, juicy paired with their barbecue sauce it's perfect. Lunch specials come with a medium-sized drink and can upsize for pocket change literally. I'm in helotes area and drive to the restaurant, which is a bit of a drive. I definitely recommend. After a few recommendations, I finally had a chance to stop into this clearly popular Southside barbecue establishment. The parking lot was full with even a few cars roaming around looking for a spot. Luckily, I noticed a drive-thru, so there I went. After some deliberation at the large outdoor menu board, I ordered the two meat plate - brisket and sausage, along with potato salad and pinto beans. Since I had noticed other reviews referencing beef ribs, I was disappointed to learn they no longer carried them, nor did I notice them on the menu board. To start, the portion of sausage was big, but the portion of brisket was really lacking. I doubt it was even 1/4 lb. While the brisket was tender, it wasn't very smoky, although the bark was tasty. Another observation I made was the lack of a smokestack coming out of the building, so I do wonder where they "smoke" their meat. The sausage was fine, although lacking a little spice, nor did it taste absolutely "fresh off the smoker". The surprise came with the side items. The beans were good, with the definite aroma and taste of cilantro, although I wish they were a little more seasoned. The potato salad was very good, however. It had perfect flavor and the perfect mix of ingredients. The little cup of barbecue sauce was barely okay. It was just a little more sweet than spicy or peppery, but also tasted a little sour... definitely not my favorite. Went here with my fiance for lunch the other day. I dropped my fiance off at the front and went to look for a parking spot. I had no issue finding a parking spot, but that was probably luck on my part. I didn't see any other open spots, and it looked like other people were walking over from other parking lots nearby. I got inside, and there was a line that backed up to the door. My fiance was already about halfway to the register by the time I got in. Learned a while ago that a line to good Bbq restaurant is pretty normal. Having a line at good BBQ Restaurant is as normal as having meat and napkins I went to stand with my fiance in line. She suggested that I go find a table while she waited. The dining area was packed, but I did find a table. My fiance found me shortly after I found the table. Our order number was called out pretty quick. My fiance realized that she made a mistake by saying that she did not want lemon for her drink. Because of this, she asked me to request some when I went to get the food at the counter. The food was on the counter when I got up there. The staff behind the counter pointed to which trays were mine. I asked her for some lemon, and she got me some without issue. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger while my fiance got a Baked Potato with chopped brisket. I thought the burger was delicious. My fiance also liked her potato but ended up taking some home. Rice was extremely mushy & flavorless . Well it tasted like no ingredients but SALT. The manager serving plates didn't care much. She made faces when we asked for more bread and asked about rice . Today my parents and I came in for Sunday lunch My mom is handicapped can't walk long distances or stand very long. Blind in one eye uses a walker We always take her and sit her at table while we order our food. Today the manager ( at least I think he was the manager) came over and told me that my mom could not sit there without a ticket for our food. I tried to explain that she couldn't stand for long. So he rudely informed me that there chairs over there and pointed. The customers that were next to us heard and one got up to talk to him. He would not budge stating "it is the rule". I just don't get it. Why do people hype this place up so much. Brisket has no smoke ring or flavor, and very chewy. Turkey had a decent taste but no smoke flavor or bark to be found. We live down in Atascosa county near Lytle. Anytime we have a craving for real Texas bbq I make the drive to B&B Smokehouse for a drive thru haul. We've had all of the meats (try the bbq sampler and add on a few pork ribs). The (point) brisket is excellent every time, moist, tender, and just the right amount of smoke. Their sausage is awesome (I believe it to be a Czech recipe of pork and beef peppered just right). Bbq sauce has a mildly sweet and spicy flavor while being not too thick or thin. Tried this place today with some coworkers. I tell you what, get there early. They open at 11. I got there around 1045 and there were cars already waiting. One guy got in line about 1050, I followed him with my son, and right after the line was all down the building. And it was nonstop the whole time we ate. I will give them one thing, their service is fast. Once you got to order you didn't have to wait long. But if you don't want to be in the line get there early. I tried the brisket burger with fries. And about a pound of turkey and an order of fries for my son and I to split. With sweet tea. The brisket burger overall was very good. I ordered regular brisket on it. They offered lean, regular and marbled. First time I had the regular option lol the burger patty itself was kind of bland but with the brisket on top, and tomatoes, pickles etc it was pretty good. I would not order the burger by itself. The turkey was moist and had a good flavor. Fries were good. Sweet teas were good. One of my coworkers ordered the Thursday special pork ribs, and these things are huge. I should have roams a photo. Never seen pork ribs that large. He enjoyed them. There was a variety of po boys ordered and a baked potato with brisket and everyone like their food. It was a good time. The staff are always walking around looking to take away finished plates and getting refills and anything else you need. Very friendly. The place is large inside and everyone was very nice.
