Potato Salad, jalapeno Mac and cheese
    Eric V.

This place was listed on BBQ finder so my wife and I thought we'd check it out. We got two "plates" ( our stuff was just put separately in a paper bag) I got ribs with creamed corn and Cole slaw, my wife got chopped beef with potato salad and jalapeño Mac and cheese. The food was good, it was nothing spectacular but not bad. The barbecue sauce was very vinegary in my humble opinion. I like that I tried but probably wouldn't seek this place out. The staff were very friendly!

After a visit to the Fort Sam Houston cemetery, we stopped into this barbecue restaurant that we have not been to in a really long time. Excellent! Had brisket, pork, ribs, turkey, sausage, beans, and cream corn among all of us. Very good. Just the right amount of smoke and everything was delicious. Give this place to try. They are Michelin recommended and have been in business for 33 years!

    So good

Well damn where have I been !! Got the brisket bbq baked potato and WOW ! Great taste Great polite service Cool rustic feel to the place Come and get it !!

I loved that the BBQ sauce was smoky and spicy rather than too sweet. The turkey and sausage were delicious. I just wish there were a little more bigger portions. The potato salad was good; the green beans were just okay. You order at the counter and the food comes out fast. Service is good. The ambiance is clean and has an open Texas warehouse type of vibe. It was a great lunch spot before headed to the airport nearby.

Delicious food, absolutely friendly service-first time here and was lead in the right direction (just ask)! Super cute and comfy ambiance with some attention to pulling in all of what this area of TX is known for, preserving history and its festivities

Looked to bbq in the road with a friend and this place popped up back in September. They was a little line but moved fast. We picked meat and sides. Thought I would get more meat... anyway the food was tasty. The brisket was great! The peach cobbler was on point!

Our high school group chat finally made it out of iMessage to visit one of the members in the great city of San Antonio. We were initially all getting together for the McGregor fight, but he pulled out with a broken toe which stung pretty bad. Quality time with the homies was the real purpose of the trip tho... All this to say, after a quick google search fresh off the plane, our first meal in SA was here at BBQ Station. We arrived in Big Bros Honda Element into the most Texas restaurant I could ever imagine: Worn out red metal panel walls that had the text "B-B-Q" painted in white, a huge banner that said "31 yrs and still SMOKIN!", and the unmistakable smell of smoked meats BLASTING your nostrils when you get within 20 yards of the door. One of the few smells that wakes your stomach up right when you inhale it. The interior matched the exterior, as the walls are littered with old signs from Texas Oil & Gas companies, highway signage, a worn in brick smoker, and the most charming little seating area you've ever seen. It felt like a little Movie/TV set to me... I watched A LOT of Friday Night Lights back in the day. I ordered the two meat plate with Brisket and pulled pork, and asked the sweet older dude taking my order what his favorite was. Without any hesitation he responded "The Jalapeno Mac and Cheese" in the most confident tone you've ever heard. I don't even like mac and cheese like that, but when someone is that confident you gotta buy in. Sometimes, I just want to be led. He wasn't lying either, that mac went CRAZY! It wasn't DOUSED in cheese either. I get annoyed when the mac is just drowning in the cheese smh. I got my tray of freshly cut brisket, pulled pork, refillable beans, god tier jalapeno mac and cheese, and a couple slices of white bread and met the homies in the no frills dining area that is flooded with natural light. I loved brisket growing up, but when I went to Texas for the first time a few years ago I realized I had never had REAL brisket. That melt in your mouth, orgasmic brisket. BBQ Station continued with that theme, as the brisket here was just otherworldly. We schemed for about 5 minutes about how we need to open an authentic BBQ shop like this in the Northeast, "it would crush..." "there is nothing like it up there..." but then remembered we don't know the first thing about making good BBQ or running a restaurant lol. Also this plate that cost us $18 would cost probably $60 there. We went to 2M later in our trip, which seems to be the general consensus for best BBQ in San Antonio. I'd have to say it's 1a and 1b with 2M getting a slight nod, but it's closer than they want to talk about... IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Soooo, I forgot to take a picture before I ate, but as you can see there is NO food left.

Went to the BAR-B-Q Station Monday, December 2 about 1:00. Plenty of cars in the parking lot. We ordered right away. Staff was friendly. I got a brisket plate with fries and coleslaw. My meat was a little fatty, but I didn't mind. My friend had the brisket and sausage plate with green beans and mac & cheese. Atmospheres was rustic. Would definitely go again.

16 May 2023 We went to Barbecue Station on National BBQ Day. How cliche. Ha, ha. Our first time here. My sister has been recommending this place for years and we finally went. I mentioned this to the counterman and he said to thank her. We both had the two meat plate ($12.99). Brisket and sausage with sides of Cole slaw, Mac and cheese. Two sides are included. Also sliced bread. If you pick beans as a side, refills are free. There is a hot pot on the counter next to the soda fountain. Onions and pickles are also included and you can get as much as you want. The meats are placed on butcher paper which is on top of a tray. The sides are in small styrofoam containers. The brisket is pretty lean and the sausage is quite good, not overly fatty as some are. We also did dessert. Here's where I was a little disappointed. The peach cobbler is $2.75 and is served in the small side container. The pecan pie is $3 and is an approximate 2-inch round little thing. Not what I was expecting. Oh well. They weren't bad, just small. Counter service was fast and efficient. The tables are bussed quickly. The busser comes around a few times to ask if we need anything. Pretty good place. Go there.

brisket and turkey. Juicy and delicious.

I was done with an appointment in the area right before 11 AM so I decided to pick up food at The Barbeque Station, located at 410 and Harry Wurzbach. It has been there forever and the character of the building shows it. You can smell the smoke of all these years permeate the walls. Not a fancy glass and stainless-steel kind of place. There was already a line at 11 AM and by the time I placed my order there were nearly 20 people queued up. I ordered a two-meat plate with lean brisket and turkey. I should add that the menu has different prices for the combo plate, depending on the two meats you choose. I like that. My combo plate came with two sides for $12.99 plus tax and tip. One of the more affordable places in the city. My two sides were potato salad and jalapeño Mac and Cheese. Portion sizes rival other places charging nearly $20 for a plate. You can see in the photo that both the brisket and turkey were moist and not dried out. Both had a nicely seasoned bark. One of the few places where I could honestly skip the sauce because the meat is so flavorful. But the sauce is so good. Runnier than most, served warm, with a nice balance of acidity from the vinegar and sweetness from brown sugar probably. The potato salad had good flavor, but was too much like mashed potatoes to be my favorite. The jalapeño mac and cheese was the star. The macaroni was perfectly cooked and not much like other places. The cheese sauce was creamy and had a little kick from the jalapeños.

The older ice was very quick and there was no wait to get our food. The brisket and chicken were amazing but the pork ribs were dry in my opinion. The portions are also a little smaller than most other bbq spots. The sides were great, thought. There was plenty of seating mid-day Thursday. I would recommend if you're on the go and next to the airport, but I've had better bbq in Texas before

Meh. The brisket was dry with a peppery crust. Bbq sauce definitely improved on the taste but I don't think I'd make the trek back out.

We were given the option of waiting about 15 minutes for a table or sitting in the bar area, so we chose one of the high-top tables in the bar. The café itself is very cute and has a charming atmosphere. The bar area has red neon lighting along the ceiling, which gives the room a distinctive glow. After ordering coffee and waters, we decided on the fried mushrooms, the meatloaf plate, and the Breakfast Pile. They never ended up refilling any of our drinks. The fried mushrooms came out first and were piping hot. They were served with both white gravy and ranch. The ranch was pretty tasty, but the mushrooms themselves were fairly bland and quite greasy. To be fair, deep-fried mushrooms aren't exactly a light dish, but I found myself adding salt to everything to bring out more flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf contained carrots, which was an interesting touch. The slices were very thick and firm, and honestly didn't resemble or taste like a traditional meatloaf. I asked for the gravy on the side and ended up dipping each bite into it, but the dish still wasn't my favorite. The green beans were the biggest miss for me. They had a mucky flavor that reminded me of mop water. The Breakfast Pile was decent enough: potatoes, sausage, eggs, and gravy layered together. Unfortunately, it also felt underseasoned and could have benefited from more flavor. The standout item of the entire meal was the biscuit with honey butter. They initially forgot to bring the honey butter, and I'm very glad we asked for it because it completely made the dish. The biscuit was warm, soft, and by far the most enjoyable thing we ate. Overall, Mama's Café has a cute atmosphere and friendly service despite being understaffed when we visited. However, most of the food felt underseasoned and lacked flavor. If you're looking for a cozy spot to sit and chat, it's worth a visit, but based on this meal, I probably would only come back if someone said it was their favorite restaurant and I try what they order

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway.
