Couch Potato Omelette with a side of hashbrowns

Ordered breakfast by phone for pick up on Friday morning. Service was very accommodating with changes while ordering and took payment info over the phone. It was good that I ordered pick-up since all of their outdoor tables were already occupied. To be pandemic-safe, I picked up from the front of the building- and since the order only took about 15min, they knew who I was before I even had to introduce myself at the door. I signed for payment outside and they handed off the fully packaged meals, and off I went. Flavors for the eggs and French toast were excellent. Very filling, very hearty, very well seasoned and tasty. The whip cream didn't hold up well in the to go box with the hot French toast- they might be able to put whip cream and/or strawberries in a foam cup to help preserve coolness- but that may need to be tested. I wish the syrup had been real maple syrup, but it definitely had the high fructose flavor. The candies were a cute bonus to find at the bottom of the to go bag!

What a fun spot tucked away in the lobby adjacent to an apartment building. The charm of the open kitchen concept and family run establishment as well as the various seating options make this feel like home instantly. You place your order at the front and then go sit and wait for them to bring you some magical fresh and flavorful food that was made right in front of you. If you blink you may miss it because the staff is so well organized they create French toast masterpieces and coffee concoctions that would amaze you and quickly! The space is perfect for a quick stop with friends or a more leisurely stay with a good book. You have a great space with great staff taking care of you for breakfast or lunch!

I went to this place around 9:45am on a Sunday. When I came in, I couldnt really tell if we had to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. It took a while for someone to come seat me... but not before they tell me all the places I couldn't sit because it was just me and they didnt want me sitting anywhere that had more than 2 seats..."to save space for the crowds if they came in".. Anyway...you order at the front and they bring you your food. The food was just OK. It kind of reminded me of going to a family member's house out of town and them cooking me breakfast. There was not anything about it spectacular or completely overwhelming, however I wasn't underwhelmed either. It has your basic breakfast foods, omelets, French toast, breakfast sandwiches... I just didn't see anything on the menu that appeared to be a standout item. I decided on the French toast and coffee for my meal. They were out of coffee except for decaf at 9:45 a.m.!!! The French toast was good I ordered some extra toppings and tried to jazz it up a little bit. It was just OK as I stated it was nothing that was superbly overwhelming. I would go again for the simple fact that I'm pretty certain I will get a basic breakfast that will fill my stomach. However if you are looking for a good jazzy breakfast spot on a Sunday morning I would not recommend this place. It's good for the community that it's in... it's a small little cafe and I don't think that they're trying to be more than what they are so... I think it's nice.

Amazing hospitality and great food. It's so relaxing here and I wish I lived closer so i can enjoy the food and the hospitality more. The steamed green tea matcha was delicious! The salmon and bagel- AMAZING! The portion was big so i had to bring mine back to enjoy at lunch time. Not complaining tho!

#23 on The 25 Places to Eat in STL in 2017. That is according to the Yelp Blog and now that I have been, I couldn't agree more. This is a relatively small cafe, with a big personality. It definitely is a neighborhood spot, that welcomes outsiders with open arms. I left the neighborhood before 2Schae opened, but if I still lived directly across the street, I'd be here every morning. I was impressed that much. I knew about 2Schae, but thought it was just a "coffee shop". I had no idea that they had such an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. The large variety of omelettes available, just blew my mind. In addition to all the ones that they create, you can also select your own ingredients and they'll make one specially for you. One of my favorite vegetables is Asparagus and I'm a fan of Goat Cheese. So when I saw them with bacon and sun dried tomatoes in the French Quarter Omelette, I knew that one was for me. It was a three egg omelette filled with small pencil stem asparagus, the most flavorful kind in my opinion and rich creamy Goat Cheese. The bacon was crisp and sun-dried tomatoes were cut into little strips. Great presentation and the four flavors blended together wonderfully. It was so huge, I brought half of it home is a true, "Doggie Bag" that is eco-friendly. The coffee they serve is Wildhorse, which is from a local vendor. I like it when a local business supports another. At their condiment counter, they offered both skim and half & half for those who need a little cream in their coffee. 2Schae is divided in to two sections, with an open working kitchen in the middle. On one side you have small tables and chairs and on the other is plush chairs and sofas and a counter in front of the window. Either side is relaxing and work friendly. Mr & Mrs Schaeffer (owners) are very hospitable and were thrilled to here that I came in because of the Yelp Top 25. Will I return? - Gotta try lunch. A great little neighborhood eatery. They are small but the service is awesome! You get a feeling like you're in a local diner. I ordered French toast and a veggie scramble. Very tasty! Several menu items to pick from and you can order breakfast all day! In order to get to the restrooms you must step into the hall area of the building but it's still attached and not far..Just on the other side of the dining area.

This place should meet all of your check-list if you are a student or professional looking for a place to do work while brunching! 1) People are friendly. I know we are in the mid-west, but it's extra nice here. 2) Free wifi 3) Texas Toast French Toast with fruit and WARM syrup 4) Omelets. Omelets. Omelets 5) Smoothies and Coffee (the coffee is no Blue Print, but better than some others and free refills) What to do? Order at the counter, grab a seat and they will find you. FYI - you are not allowed to eat on the couches in the back, but I would prefer to sit outside on a nice day anyways.

What a great locals breakfast spot! My friend was visiting from Ohio so we walked down to breakfast. Staff is vey very friendly. We both ordered the 2schae toast and loved it. We both felt full but light and we hit the museums without getting hungry until late afternoon. I'll be back to try other items on the menu!

Front door was locked, making you enter the apartment building and sitting at a table in the lobby. Odd sitting at a table with residents coming off elevators with their dogs The server seemed to have had too much caffeine. He was walking so much among the four tables and constantly asking questions that it made us feel anxious. Food was not that great. Had the corner Cristo which was soggy and lacking flavor. Asked for crispy bacon and was not.

They have the best Matcha Green Tea Latte!! OMG! I liked their simple menu. That 2shae toast is a treat. Share with a friend of you have to. It's small and seating is limited but you will enjoy your food.

BREAKFAST REVIEW Just your neighborhood cafe with what feels like home cooking and good vibes. Nothing fancy but everything done right. It's run by the nicest couple of empty nesters who wanted to start their own cafe. They live in the neighborhood too and seem to know a lot of the people who stop in. I had the Southwest scramble and I shared an order of French toast with my friends. Both were similar to how I would cook at home and both were delicious. They have a pretty big menu, especially in the egg section, so you'll be able to find something that appeals to you. Prices are really reasonable too. I would definitely recommend you stop in!

What a perfect place to Sunday brunch! The friendly staff were quick with my iced mocha colada and Tex-Mex omelette. Oh and the tasty hot sauces gave my food some extra kick. The weather was a bit cold so we sat inside. The outside seating would have been great so we will have to save that for the next time. There is plenty of free parking nearby. The bathroom is not directly connected so follow signs and you will be fine. read more

I'll always support the little mom and pop shop when ever I can. This place was close to the place we stayed at during our family vacation to St. Louis. The food was tasty, the owners were very friendly and helpful. I guess the had been remodeling, because they only had outside seating on the day we were there. The food was good, I will say though that the breakfast sandwiches could have used some jazzing up (maybe some diced bell pepper and diced onion instead of just egg and cheese). We thoroughly enjoyed it though, and it's always a great sign when the owners will come and talk to you. I'm certain we will be back on our next trip to St. Louis. read more

Adorable, cozy and cute cafe just west of CWE. Being as though breakfast is mine and my boyfriends favorite meal of the day, we are always looking for great places here in STL. 2Schae is very quaint and affordable. It definitely has a no thrill vibe, but that is part of the fun. The cafe is travel themed with travel mugs all around the shop, and even a "where are you from" map encouraging customer engagement. This was our first time in and did not know what to expect but were very pleased. 2Schae has such a relaxed vibe, with friendly workers and staff and very reasonable prices. Be ready to pay and order at the counter and have your food delivered to you a table... we did not know this. 2Schae resembles a cafe you would find nestled away in a big city. 2Schae is a must! read more

We were in town for a quick getaway and heading to the zoo. We were staying downtown and knew parking was sparse, so we yelped the area around the zoo. We found 2Schae cafe and wow, I'm glad we did. This is the perfect place for a light meal before hitting the long walk at the zoo. We ordered the 2Schae Toast and the NY Sophiscate omelette and they were both equally as good. The toast has a good balance of banana and peanut butter with a bit of honey. The omelette was fantastic with a good glaze of brown mustard on top. We opted for egg whites and weren't disappointed. The owners are extremely friendly and willing to discuss food options and local destinations for the non locals! read more

Great breakfast place. People working here are really nice and helpful. We had a bunch of questions and they were very patient and upbeat! Omlette was delicious! The service is wonderful! Super family owned mom and pop store with cute decorations of coffee mugs from all over the world and fun art. The service is quick and they're great with changes to any order. I ordered the Tuscan on a bagel and it was nice and simple which I enjoyed. Would be a great study spot too read more

A nice little family owned cafe. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning on our way to Forest Park and were greeted as soon as we walked in. We ordered lattes and omelets and grabbed a seat at a table inside. I tried the Mediterranean and it did not disappoint. The latte was decent as well. This cafe appears to be a favorite among the locals and I can understand why. The customer service was outstanding. read more

Delish! I had the French toast, perfectly done and soft on the inside, melted butter, blueberries, and whipped cream-YUM! My youngest had the same but with chocolate chips. My oldest son had the Corner Cristo:Egg, bacon, ham, and Swiss cheese sandwiched between two slices of our house french toast, served with syrup. And finally my husband had the BIG Blue breakfast burrito with everything. We each though ours was the best! The staff were SO nice. Next time I want to try a smoothie and the 2Schae Toast: 2 slices of multi-grain toast smothered with peanut butter, banana, house granola and honey! Great relaxed, cafe style atmosphere with great food! Highly recommended. read more

This place is owned and operated by Lisa and Don Schaefer (you see where the name of this place "2Schae" comes? genious!). They are SUPER HAPPY + SUPER NICE Couple. They know everyone who walks into the door and welcome them with big smile and cheerful attitude!! When you are there, pleeeaaase try their SOUP! So VERY good! The goat cheese is garlic and herb flavored and they soften it before spreading it on the bagel. The layers of different flavors is just awesome. My wife and I had a wonderful breakfast at 2Schae last weekend. This restaurant is so great, the owners serve you and prepare your food and they are always super friendly. It feels good to support this restaurant and you notice how every person who eats there feels the same way. The vibe is just right! We had an omelet (couch potato) and the French toast and both were delicious. They also have fresh coffee and a chill out area where you can sit on a couch or chair and hang out or work on your computer. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I'm sure that if this was a place close to where I live, I would frequent it every weekend for the convenience, wifi, and free coffee refills. However, the coffee and food was just OK, and nothing stellar. Granted, we didn't try the pancakes and omelettes which seem to be touted on Yelp. I got the big blue burrito, which is loaded with several types of meat, cheese, and every ingredient imaginable to man. It didn't taste bad, per se, but its flavor was to the point of excessive overload due to the ingredient combo. read more

Nice little cafe. I had the big apple which is a grilled cheese with 3 types of cheese, bacon, and apple. Service was very friendly. Had both outdoor and indoor seating. There is a very large menu with breakfast and lunch items. I did overhear someone say that parking was tough to find due to construction so just an fyi if you planned to drive. read more

Decided to check this place out for breakfast during my visit to St. Louis. Never have I ever encountered such friendly servers. As soon as I walked through the entrance they greeted me with kindness and gave me the run down of the cafe. At this establishment you can either order your food to-go or order it to eat there. I had the Corner Cristo, which was one of the most delicious breakfast items I have ever come across. Some genius decided to make a breakfast sandwich with French toast! Took one bite and I experienced an immense euphoria of tastebud satisfaction. If you are looking for a nice bit to eat that won't hurt your wallet I highly recommend you check this place out. It is a cute little corner cafe with a pleasant ambience. Good place to go to for a cute little brunch date. read more

Service is NOT their strong suit. There were a mere six tables and it took 20 minutes or more to get our orders - omelettes! Also, I didn't know you could ruin something as simple as an omelette but ours were wet and clammy and the coffee tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. The owner was a bit COVID paranoid. You can walk in there with strep throat, the flu, chicken pox, tuberculosis, diphtheria, etc., but don't dare walk inside without a face diaper! read more

Loved this place! Everything from the food to the service was incredible! It's such an unassuming little spot but don't let that fool you, the variety and quality of food ranks right up there with other popular breakfast/brunch places in St. Louis. I would recommend the Mediterranean Omelette and breakfast burrito. One thing to note, this is not a great place to take large groups but perfect for smaller parties! And seriously, the staff/owners couldn't be more friendly! Do yourself a favor and go support this local spot! read more

A fav. Not much to say. Everything is awesome. I just love the french toast and get it just about every time I go. I also love their omelets. I typically go with the hillbilly hen. The corner cristo is also amazing. My partner loves the smoothies. His last one had banana, strawberry, and blueberry and even the owner liked the combo! I think I've named a million things. Yea basically everything is very tasty. And they are also super sweet owners. read more

This couple-owned place is awesome! The wife and husband who own and self-operate the cafe are very social, so it's no wonder they've made a cult following of themselves. Their service is excellent - they really want to make sure they get everything right and leave you with a positive experience. I had the Corner Cristo, and it was no lie one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I also had a coffee that hit the spot. If I'm ever in St. Louis, I'll have to make the effort to return! read more

This breakfast and lunch spot is a great find! The prices are wonderful and they have a variety of opens for food and drinks. I tried the Tuscan bagel which has eggs, pesto, goats cheese, sundried tomatoes, and some awesome herb cream cheese. SO GOOD. The couple who ran the place are super friendly and it's clear they have many regulars that come by. The coffee mugs are all unique and different from all over St. Louis and the world! They have a self serve coffee bar with 3 types of local coffee and different milks. They'll also make you a fancier option if that's your thing! I also tried a piece blueberry cream cheese coffee cake and YUM, it was moist and delicious. read more

One of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to, no lie! As soon as we walked in Don & Lisa (the owners) greeted us with smiling faces and made us feel more than welcome to be here. Nice friendly environment, very homey, fast service, and reasonably priced. This restaurant is definitely a must, put it on your list of places to visit-NOW! It was fourth of July and I was visiting my daughter and we were looking for brunch. We found this place on Yelp and the reviews were very good, so we gave it a try. This was their 1 st year being opened on the fourth and probably won't be last. They were crowded when we arrived, we placed our order and waited outside for our food. They service coffee in fun coffee mugs, we were treated with the Home Teams- Blues & Cardinals, no complaints here. They were operating with just 3 people on staff as they did not know how busy they would be. Our fund was brought to us by the owners/Cook's mother who was very charming. This is a neighborhood breakfast lunch place and the owners/staff seemed to know almost everyone. The food was good breakfast, nothing fancy. read more

This is the definition of a must stop place! We went early on a Saturday and were able to talk to Don who owns the place. He is awesome and so welcoming!! There is a small coffee bar where you can fill up your mug which paired perfectly with my meal. 3 of my group ordered French toast and I highly recommend it. I honestly do not think you can go wrong with anything here! read more

Very cute spot to have breakfast or lunch and relax. Situated in a quiet neighborhood, we stopped in for breakfast when visiting from out of town. I had the Big Blue, a giant breakfast burrito stuffed full with everything. Well built burrito that was huge, cut in half, and able to pick up and eat. What a great find. The Schaeffer's (Owners) are more than hospitable when you walk in the door of their cool little place. Seating for 20 inside with patio seating as well. Free refills at the Coffee Pumps. Specialty coffee board hangs above the register and covers all a pallet could desire. If your preference is not on the wall, they will do their best to create it. The quality has not wavered once. I ordered what I always order: The Combo (fried eggs, maplewood smoked bacon, cheese, brioche toast), extra egg, extra bacon. Most kitchens treat a fried egg as binary (runny or ruined). Songbird has mastered the middle register: lacy edges with a yolk that stays glossy and intact right up until the first bite. I ordered them over hard, and they came out a bit closer to over medium, but they were just as good as I wanted them to be. The bacon carries real smoke. This is a decadent sandwich, big enough that half of it would make a light breakfast; I wasn't remotely hungry after one, the second half was indulgent. The service made the move too. The hostess still recognizes returning customers, and the bigger room finally lets the dining experience breathe. The service at the table could have been a little warmer as we've had it the past, but it is still professional. I was there with two close college buddies, one of whom declared his latte excellent. I keep meaning to get adventurous with the menu, but it is genuinely hard to find a bacon, egg, and cheese toasted this perfectly, and I'd go twice in one day if given the opportunity. 4.8 A full five arrives the day when I can arrive first thing on a Saturday without a 30 minute wait, honestly, it's hard to get a reservation here because of its popularity. I wasn't crazy about getting up early the day after America's 250th birthday, and there was the slight possibility that I'd barf during my run around Tower Grove Park (people might think I was back on drugs), but I was willing to risk it for the, erm, burrito. Actually, it occurred to me that I might try something else, for the sake of citizen food journalism. Then my decision was made for me when I saw that they carry a bagel with lox. I've eaten literally a million bagels with lox, going back to the 1980s, but only either at home or at places that aren't very good, like Einstein Bros. Alas, I was informed that the bagel with lox was currently unavailable, because they were out of lox. Which struck me as odd, given that lox is not served fresh. It's not like they had to go pull it out of the water that morning or have it flown in from Alaska, packed in ice. Was there a run on the lox due to a nearby media-industry convention? Did they accidentally leave it sitting out overnight? I imagine that would smell crazy. I went with the Everything, which may have been the better choice anyway. Named after the famous bagel seasoning, it's essentially a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel with cream cheese and a tomato. But describing it that way doesn't really do it justice. You have to attempt to wrap your lips around it in order to truly appreciate it. No Diddy. It's the bagel-sandwich equivalent of their legendary burrito, and it might be just as good. The bacon and egg are perfectly cooked, with the egg just slightly underdone and the bacon nice and crisp but still with a little bit of chew. The helping of cream cheese is weirdly generous, to the point where just the cream cheese on a bagel would be a fairly substantial sandwich. The tomato, which was a little bit tart, made for a nice accent. It comes wrapped in one of those diapers they used to use on some of the bigger burgers at Hardee's, to keep it from falling apart the moment you try to bite into it. You'd still eat all the individual elements using your fingers, because you're a savage and because they're that good, but it wouldn't be the same. It's a testament to the thoughtfulness and the ingenuity of the kitchen staff at Upshot that they thought to do that.

I chose the Gyro Pita and half Caesar salad. I love mom and pop shops and cash is king. Chris asked if it was my first time in and he said he absolutely loves new customers. He also introduced me to his wife Renee that was working her magic with the food. Great location prices and food. I'll be back on my next trip in town.
