Always excited to try a "new" ie place not tried before With all the positive reviews we set out this morning to experience "2Shae".... Not only did we review the items/photos offered, but as always, we took note of the hours of operation. We check Yelp, google as well as 2Shae's official website. All indicate they are open today! We venture out on this cold November morning, park, walk up to the door only to be surprised to find a small note on the door informing us that that they the owners had decided to close from November 8th-24th! We weren't the only ones , as other patrons were standing out on the sidewalk.....one lady indicating that she had been dropped off and had been wanting to try 2Shae for a while.... she too surprised to find them closed. While most "foodies" understand that restaurant owners often have a 24/7 job, there are times they need to close .... I think most would agree that some sort of notification on your official website or Yelp is a far more courteous than the unexpected locked door with a 4in x 4in blue paper hand written note. read more

Not going to make my favorite list anytime soon. Ordered omelette with sausage and mushrooms. Simple enough. I got a slab of overcooked eggs almost no sausage and it had the texture of a piece of rubber. It was cold. It came with one slice of toast that was right off the shelf at your nearest grocery. It too was cold. I ordered a 2nd piece of toast for an additional 1.25. Cold again. No way was this worth $10. On the plus side, the service was good and the coffee above average. I used to live around this area and the 2shae cafe was always top of my list. Coming back a couple of years later, amid COVID, I was expecting maybe that my nostalgia had overestimated the food - I am so glad to say that it was as good as ever. The best French toast I have ever had in my life, coupled with a fantastic experience makes for my favorite breakfast spot in St. Louis. Not only was the food top notch but the seating was outside and spread out, masks worn, seating sprayed down after each guest. 10/10 without a doubt. read more

Had 5 hours before a meeting so my colleague and i wanted somewhere we could do breakfast and lunch with plenty of coffee. Had the breakfast sandwiches which were tasty, and their coffee is top notch. However, it was the chicken salad sandwich for lunch that prompted me to write this review because it was one of the best I've ever had (sorry mom and grandma)! Lots of chicken, fresh sliced apples, spring mix and walnuts combined in the perfect ratio with just enough mayo to hold it together. Get it, you will not be disappointed. Also, they owners are phenomenally service oriented and really care about the quality of everything they make in their corner store of awesomeness. :-) read more

Lisa the chef/owner, truly has a gift She gets how different tastes combine with eachother and makes masterpieces with them. Don, the male owner, works tirelessly to make sure everything is tidy, clean and recycled. Truly amazing food and people! My husband and I just discovered this place recently, as soon as we saw the food was incredible, we came back a second time. This time we got to talking with Don and Lisa, and after touching on the fact that my husband is a soon to be intensivist, we soon realized that he treated a relative of theirs. I wouldn't necessarily call myself a french toast connoisseur but I will say that this place has some rollicking good french toast. It was simultaneously light and fluffy yet eggs and a little crispy around the edges. The dish is served with either bacon or a sausage patty and warm syrup. I opted for the sausage and found it mild and delicious. Cut a piece of french toast, add a little piece of sausage and dunk it in the warm syrup provided and you'll have a serious explosion of everything that is right with the breakfast-eating world all in one bite. I'm not a coffee drinker but the wife was impressed and that's good enough for me to pass along that they have good coffee. Also, we saw a lot of other food being delivered and it all looked great. My sister and I went in this morning for brunch & we loved it! I got the ny omelet, and she got the French toast with strawberry and chocolate chips. Tasted just as expected from the photos shown! This seems like the perfect coffee house to get a cup of coffee and study in. And that's exactly what this place is good for: coffee. My mocha was great and my friend's latte was also great. The matcha green tea latte was a bit powdery. This is, however, not the best place for brunch. The pancakes are okay - very standard. The oatmeal is oatmeal. The bagels are fine, but how do you really mess that up? The omelets are a bit bland. You could definitely get better food and better service elsewhere. In my part-time quest to find businesses within walking distance of my apartment, I stumbled upon 2Schae Cafe one early evening and figured I'd give it a try since I haven't heard anything about it outside of Yelp. The 2Schae's is located the corner of Union and Pershing. Looks like a typical little cafe on the outside and looks quite inviting. I stepped in and it was pretty nice. While it's not the size of Kayak's it has the feel of a smaller coffee shop. The thing that blows me away about this place is the lounge area. The couches and home like setting really looks pretty nice. I almost wanted to take my shoes off and stay awhile but I digress. The food and menu options looked pretty good. I can't vouch for the food since I didn't have any. The menu looked like you could get a decent breakfast or lunch here. The coffee choices seemed pretty basic quite honestly. Compared to Coffee Cartel and Kayak's, it's really plain here. The coffee it's self was actually ok. Nothing incredible or mind blowing. All and all I thought this place was enjoyable if not plain. It's not as populated as Kayak's or Coffee Cartel so you might actually be able to get your work done if you come here. Plus the people who work here are some of the friendliest I've come across which makes returning a lot easier. So it's quiet, unpopulated and ok coffee. That spells productivity to me! read more

I'm very picky about my breakfast and don't often rate breakfast places so highly, but this one definitely deserves all 5 stars. The food here is great. The entrees are simple, but perfectly prepared. This was definitely BY FAR the best French toast I've ever had. Just the right thickness, creamy on the inside and no cinnamon! Like eating a cloud. I also tried the NY Sophisticate omelet and it did not disappoint. The smoked salmon was served on top, while everything else: capers, onions, cheese, was wrapped inside the eggs. The flavored were delicate but full. The place itself was has a nice ambiance. Located inside an apartment building and taking up a corner, a perfect spot for people watching. Old furniture with pillows and mismatched coffee mugs add to the charm. The staff is spent nice and friendly, but not pushy. They serve your food and show you where to get water, coffee, sauces, and pretty much let you be for the rest of the meal. I like that. The bathrooms are located in the lobby adjacent to the restaurant. On the way there I noticed a sign on the elevator for Skypark. Apparently it's a part of the roof that cafe guests are allowed to visit. It has some patio furniture, a hammock, and magnificent view of Saint Louis. Definitely check it out. read more

Headed here in the mid-morning for a simple breakfast before walking to the zoo with a friend from out of town. I just got a bagel and iced coffee, but it hit the spot (I hate eggs, which really puts a damper on breakfast foods). The cinnamon raisin bagel was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The iced coffee, however, was yum-o. Definitely approve. Service was nice & the I love the seating and decor...so adorable. Their evening hours are disappointing, and they should definitely make the cafe more visible (e.g. more visible signage). I bet a lot of people pass right by without knowing it's there. read more

Great coffee shop. The owner behind the counter takes the time to learn your name and what you order. That and no matter what the temperature is outside, he is always in shorts. My wife loves the way he makes chai. Most other places give it to you so hot it will burn your mouth and you need to wait for it to cool. However 2Schae will make it at just the right drinking temp so no waiting and no burning. The French toast tastes very traditional. Just like what you imagine it should be like. Not bad! I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get out of the house and do some reading and eating! Don't you just love lazy Sundays? Anyway, the place itself is really cute. It's connected to the apartment complex next door, but that doesn't take away from the atmosphere at all. There are tons of chairs and tables, and if you're lucky (I wasn't) you can even snag a comfy couch to sit on! I ordered a vanilla soy latte, which was pretty tasty and totally necessary for this caffeine queen. I also went with their "adult" grilled cheese, which might be the tastiest grilled cheese I've ever had the pleasure of eating! It had thinly sliced apples, two types of cheese, and bacon. Oh my word. This was so delicious! It was served with chips, which tasted like lays. Whatever. I'm all about the sandwich, anyway! Service here was friendly and welcoming, and they have free wi-fi. I called in this morning for the first time since Covid, craving one of their salmon bagels and an iced matcha. I came here with my mother yesterday and very much enjoyed it! It is pretty low-key with extremely friendly staff. What I really enjoyed was the variety in terms of seating options. They have some tables, some bar-style chairs, and then they have basically a living room set-up where you can sit in a sofa or nice comfy chair. In addition to a cozy atmosphere, I really enjoyed the food. I ordered a salmon-stuffed cream cheese everything bagel. The amount of salmon was extremely generous and the bagel was absolutely delicious. It came out really quickly, which I also appreciated. My mother ordered an omelet. They have so many to choose from, including build-your-own. She also really enjoyed her food. We finished with a very moist and delicious lemon cake. I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this place! I lived in the building for 2 years while I was in optometry school and came here AT LEAST once a week to study or eat. They have amazing food and great coffee. All of their sandwiches are made to order and come with a side salad or another side. For breakfast, try their waffle, the breakfast sandwich or their huge cinnamon rolls (if they have them)! Don and Lisa are so nice and they really try to get to know their customers. After two days in a row, I'm loving this coffee place just around the corner! Being in STL for almost 4 months, I was a bit intimidated by the outside decor (it looked "pricey") to walk in and try a drink. Now, I can casually stroll in with confidence and order my ultimate favorite drink: a hot chai tea latte. What's even more amazing, is that I get honest-to-goodness service and a delicious chai tea latte for a super-duper price. I haven't had their food yet, except their cream cheese brownie (HIGHLY suggest it warmed) perfectly fit my sweet tooth craving today. I have to agree with previous reviews that the couch area is awesome. and it's such a nice touch to have a photo album close by with a mapped-wall with pins on different places all over the world where customers are from. Everything looks so clean and yet homelike. if anyone knows the chill places to be, they're in this shop. There seems to always be someone in this shop, sitting outside or on the comfy stools inside. 2S would get a perfect 5 stars but they're only open til 8pm on certain weekdays and 4pm on weekends. The espresso drink menu may not be large, but they know how to make them well. I'll try to curb my spending but it's so hard to not get their chai teas on the way to start my day! read more

I like it here. I've been to 2Schae a few times for coffee on the run, and have to say it's probably the best cup of coffee I've enjoyed in town. Although the best fresh coffee award probably goes to Northwest in CWE, the finished product here has been extremely satisfying every time I've been. The environment inside is pleasant, not at all like it looks from the outside. A large bar/kitchen area is planted in the center, splitting the area into two usable spaces for work or play. There are a ton of options for breakfast/brunch foods on the menu and actually there are so many choices it can be overwhelming. But the menu has a few items that seem like they must be catered to those who have trouble with decision-making, like myself. There's an omelette called THE FULL MONTY, which has every possible ingredient stuffed into a giant omelette so you don't have to decide on just a few. I found this to be perfect. There was just a little bit of everything (meats included bacon, ham, sausage; veggies included asparagus, spinach, zucchini, onion, mushroom, avocado) and was topped with salsa, avocado, and a little sour cream. This came out to be a rather super-sized omelette, which looked to be twice the girth of my friend's tex-mex omelette for only $2 more. It was big enough to eat half and take the rest home for a second meal. They also have a variety of interesting hot sauces to choose from at the coffee serving table, such as Marie Sharp's orange pulp habanero hot sauce. This was really good on my omelette. The burrito equivalent of the fully-loaded omelette is the BIG BLUE BURRITO. Coffee is self-serve in carafes on a serving table. I liked that the cafe does pay attention to reducing food waste. E.g. if you don't want toast with your omelette just say so. If you have leftovers, they will wrap it up for you in aluminum foil instead of a to-go box. My only complaint is that the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant out in the open so you will walk out with your hair and clothes smelling like frying oil. read more
