My dad loved the beef noodle soup which is saying a lot cause beef noodle soup is one of his all time favorite dish to eat and he makes it all the time too. He said this one was one of his favorites and he loved the noodles. He said it was thin and bouncy and held a ton of flavor. The saozi noodles I got were also really good! After passing by this place many times, I finally decided to give it a try -- and unfortunately, I was very disappointed. With so many restaurant choices around, I really regret choosing this one. There was absolutely no greeting or explanation when I walked in. I assumed I had to order by scanning the QR code, but the cell reception inside was poor, so I spent quite a while trying unsuccessfully to place my order. It wasn't until I saw another customer walk up to the counter and speak to a staff member that I realized I could order there, so I got in line and did the same. The restaurant itself is very small, and you basically find your own seat. Water, napkins, and disposable utensils are all self-service, and after eating, you're expected to place your dishes at a window on the side. The front door was left slightly open -- it seemed like it might be broken -- and there were flies flying around inside. That was very unappetizing and made the whole dining experience uncomfortable. Since this was my first time here and I hadn't read any reviews beforehand, I ordered one of my favorite types of noodles. Unfortunately, it was terrible. It was overwhelmingly salty with no depth of flavor at all. The best way I can describe it is noodles tossed in dark soy sauce -- just salty and one-dimensional. From the environment to the service to the food, the entire experience really turned me off. This place is located on the Promenade side of Santa Anita Mall with many other Asian eateries. It has a very casual setting with limited seating inside and outside. You order at the counter and they call out your order number when it's ready. Tipping is not needed and it's not even an option when you pay for your order. Popcorn Chicken was excellent and portion was very generous for under $10. My wife described it as more like a cross between chicken karaage and popcorn chicken. It had good amount of seasoning without being spicy or overpowering, and tasted fresh. Beef Noodle Soup had good broth without any MSG attack. This dish can be upgraded to spicy soup if desired. Rice isn't available, but you could go next door at Hodori to order steam rice for takeout. I tried the beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken, and fried chicken cutlet. You can between wide or thin noodles for the soup. I thought the broth was savory, a little salty, with tons of braised beef chunks and noodles. Came in here for lunch during the weekend. My husband and I got the beef noodle soup and dumplings mostly for our toddler. The portion size was pretty great! We were able to feed our kid and share the beef noodle soup together. (We weren't that hungry.) for $25 for the soup and the dumplings wasnt bad. We thought the portion was pretty fair and the amount of noodle and beef were great. The soup felt a little light so we added vinegar. We prefer less salty though so didn't mind. I didn't have high hope for the place but I was still deeply let down. Came during a Sunday when it's about 100 degrees outside, the place is small but still with no AC and no fan. Upon entering noone greeted us so I have no idea how it operates, should we seat first or order up front. Turns out you place your order up front and pick it up yourself when it's ready. (If you pay with a credit card there's a 2.3% fee.) The tables were all slightly dirty and the server never bothered to clean it. You also have to get all the utensils, napkins, water yourself. Didn't get the water cuz the machine looks like it hasn't been cleaned for a while, I'm guessing the filters too. Then comes the food, we ordered two bowls of the thick cut spicy oil noodles and it was extremely salty. So we were basically in a small, hot, and slighty dirty environment eating a super salty noodle without any water. That's all we ordered cuz they were all out of chicken... on a Sunday at noon. We were extremely disappointed by the service, the food, the experience, the environment, and the price. Honestly, don't think we'll visit again. My husband waited for a table outside while I went inside to order the following: Guilin Soup, $14.95 prior to tax- I ordered this for my husband to be mild in terms of spicy-ness. My husband didn't think it was spicy at all but he has been trying to consume less spicy foods. He liked the soup and thought it was flavorful. I didn't get to try any. He thought the meat was good but wished there was more. Zhajiang Noodle, $13.35 prior to tax- I didn't want a soup dish and went for a dry style noodle dish instead. I really liked this dish. It was very saucy with pork and flavors of tomato. I also really liked the sliced cucumbers. The noodles itself was really good and had a nice chew to it. The portion size of this dish was big enough for 2-3 people to share. --------------------------------- (Total= $20.64 after Dine & Discover Promotion of $5 off each dish above). Please note that the above total also included a 2.3% transaction fee. This is where I am rather disappointed and annoyed with my dining experience. I paid cash purposely to avoid the transaction fee but yet I was still charged. I did not realize this until way later, after I had already paid and ate my meal. It even says I paid cash on the receipt too... So if you do pay cash, you want to make sure you check that you are not charged the credit card fee. There is some limited seating inside but you may also be able to find a table in the Eat Alley or just around the promenade. Utensils, napkins, water, etc are all self serve. After you pay, you are given a number and you have to wait for your order (whether you ordered to go or for dine in. Not sure if this is a hot take, but I genuinely enjoyed my visit here. I thought all the food tasted fresh, and all the items had a very fair price point. It's really hard to find noodles without a soup broth, so having noodles with vegetables on their own made me happy. The service was also super quick. The person taking our order helped my dad navigate all the non-spicy items on their menu. This place is located within the Santa Anita mall, and it was very clean inside. Casual dining spot with indoor seating. Can be a little cleanlier. Portion was huge, came with tons of beef & noodle, free side of chili cucumbers, and a pink lemonade.Noodle texture had a nice bounce, left feeling very full and I had leftovers that I ate for my next meal. For a noodle spot, I thought the food here was okay. I saw that they were advertising summer items only available during the summer so decided to give those a try. Chicken Cold Noodles - I thought this was pretty tasty but it also was very simple. It comes with chicken breasts and basically its cold noodles with chili and a few other ingredients. It's refreshing and overall I liked it. (4/5) Fried Chicken - This was new and the flavors were good but I also felt it was a tad lackluster. The chicken wasn't as juicy as I thought and because it comes with the whole thigh there are a lot of bones to go through. It's not something I'd get again personally. Beef Noodle Soup Guilin Soup Dry Mix Noodle Chicken Cold Noodle Popcorn Chicken The noodle soups were pretty good, but the dry noodles were very salty for me personally. Popcorn chicken is good - but you can't really go wrong with fried chicken pieces. One thing to note is that you get extremely good value here. The portions are HUGE, they come in huge paper bowls. My teenaged boys are usually garbage disposals for food, but even they couldn't finish the noodles and we took everything home and enjoyed it again for lunch the next day. Don't expect nice decor here. There are a few tables inside and out, but there are bags of containers and lids throughout the dining area - apparently the dining area doubles as storage. This review is just for the popcorn chicken! Came here on a Saturday afternoon during lunar new year weekend and order just the popcorn chicken, which came out pretty quickly, within 5 to 8 minutes. It tasted like it was just fried instead of it just sitting there. Super crispy, hot fresh and just the right amount of seasoning and heat. I was pretty surprised by the amount for 10 bucks. Small indoor and outdoor Chinese joint in a corner on the Promenade of the mall. How did I never try this place until recently all these years? I feel like I jipped myself. The food is so good. I always see a lot of people eating there but didn't try until now. Food served in to-go containers already that are cute, made of sturdy paper bowls that don't leak through even to the next day. Every dish on the menu has been delicious with my favorite being the Zhajiang noodles. Service is decently fast. Self service ice, water, utensils and condiments. There are trash cans to throw your trash away. They also don't ask for tip, even when you pay by card. If this place was HELLA good, then I wouldn't mind, but it was just a little average. We went to try out this GUI Lin noodles place for their lunch special. It was a very good deal! $15 ish for a pretty big bowl of dry noodles and a side of cucumber cold dish and a cup of lemonade. The portion of the dry noodles are very generous and good portion of thick cut beef. The beef tasted a bit hard for me but it's still good enough overall for me to want to come back again because it's a great deal. The cucumbers were good but it's soaked in mild chili oil. I just hope it's not so oily. The minus one star is because the free lemonade is really not in sync with this type of food. It honestly goes with green tea or something more Asian. Lemonade just really turned me off and it's definitely too sweet. I know it's a set lunch but I just think it should be more thoughtful or even if it's $16 instead to upgrade to a simple unsweetened tea will be match this type of food much better. Service is simple we just order at the counter. I appreciate that no tips are needed. Because nowadays every restaurants asks for tips even if's just a take out. This was my first visit to Qin West Noodle. They are located on the promenade area of the Santa Anita mall whatever it is called now. They're located near the CPK and the meet fresh. I was waiting for my boba order to be completed and wanted to see how long I to go order would take here since I was getting hungry. The waitress is really nice and told me it would take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the type of noodle I ordered. I went with the Liang Pi and the zhajiang noodles. I was able to customize the level of spicy for the Liang Pi but since my sister doesn't eat too spicy I asked if I could get an extra side of chili on the side. I thought the food was pretty tasty. I would definitely go a little bit spicier next time. I like how there's lots of noodle options here at the mall so this is another great option to choose from. read more

Small place. Simple menu. The food was very good. I was the first to order. I was asked what I wanted, and I placed my order. Then our group placed their order. Everyone's food arrived, except mine. Everyone was partially through their meal. I asked what happened. I was told my order didn't get placed. I then placed, and paid for my order. I was told it would be ready quickly. I was reminded by our group that we have a movie to get to at the AMC and we had to go. I asked for a refund and to cancel the order. I was told the order has been started and they cannot do that. I told them I was not happy with that and explained why, but it did not sway their decision. Hence this review. They made a mistake. They had an opportunity to correct it. They were more concerned about an order placed than the satisfaction of their customer. A big mistake in my opinion. I'm a business owner. That's not how I run my business. Satisfaction is guaranteed. The customer is always right. Hopefully this review will cause them to rethink their policy. I would return to this business and bring friends.
