I had heard good things about 3 and took my wife last Friday night. We were VERY impressed. The food was great, decor hip, prices in line where they should be. 3 could easily be in the South End of Boston and be well received. My wife had the miso salmon, I had the special of pecan encrusted trout--both were excellent. Drinks were good, service was friendly, and we expect to become regular patrons. Just had a nice dinner with a group of friends for a birthday. Seating was great and the overall atmosphere was very trendy and modern. Didn't get a chance to check out the bar properly, but it looks rather beautiful from a distance. Service was very pleasurable, too. Not too in your face, but there when you needed it. The waitress was always there to refill my water! I expected better quality food, considering the prices, but that's not to say the food was bad at all. Just a bit overpriced. I got the chicken parm, which was HUGE. Definitely was not able to finish it (which is ok, I'll have leftovers!!!), but it was rather delicious. Loved the penne that went with it, too. A few of the people at the table tried the lobster risotto and were not a fan of it. The salmon salad was also apparently a huge hit. For dessert, a MASSIVE chocolate cake slice was served for our birthday girl and we were all able to share. We will only sit at the bar now, table service had been great the first 2 times we went and had Joe as our waiter but has been substandard since. I think prices are too high for the area. Nice beverage selections, liquor selection is great! Didn't like the way either of our filets were cooked, so we won't order those again and the dessert every time we have order it seems to taste like old refrigerator. We go during happy hour and get half priced apps with our drinks. The chicken milanese, chicken marsala, parmesan risotto, vegetable spring rolls, and buffalo chicken dip are all good choices. Yummy. I came here a couple months ago for my cousin's first communion and it took me so long to finally write a review! We entered and greeted by a professional hostess and asked us which party we were with. There were several throughout the restaurant that day. We were downstairs to the right of the building. As we arrived we were asked for our beverage orders and offered a variety of hors d'oeuvres. I didnt eat them because they had meat in them but the server Kelly recognized this and offered me vegetable spring rolls once they came around instead of offering the meat ones. KUDOS. For lunch we were served buffet style which is what my aunt had planned on. Again, this server and the other one she was with went above and beyond explaining what I could and could not have based on the ingredients of the menu items and even offered to have something especially made, which they did. My daughter's baby shower was held here yesterday and was absolutely wonderful! The Amber room was the perfect venue, beautifully appointed, just the right size for our celebration. The facilities were spotless from the coat room, upstairs bar, function room to the restrooms. Clean and classic from A to Z! The buffet style brunch was flawless and the food choices delicious and plentiful. The cake that was custom designed by the in-house baker was not only delicious, but a work of art (baby elephant theme)! Jasmine, one of the banquet coordinators who helped plan our event was so helpful, no question was left unanswered. Lastly, Pam who was in charge of accommodating our event was just amazing! She was very professional and hands on, giving us helpful suggestions and a run through of the tentative schedule before people arrived. First, they had oysters as a appetizer special for half price. Unfortunately, the third one was literally sickening!!! I put a squeeze of lemon on the oyster which masked the smell when I ate it. Immediate food poisoning!! (I'll spare the details of the multiple visits to the restroom) Board of Health ought to investigate the storage and inspection of their raw seafood. Don't bother with this place!! The appetizer I ordered was delivered wrong, chicken wings when I had ordered calamari. Menu is limited, very few seafood choices for a place in MA. We gave this place a second chance after we went there several months ago. At that time I ordered the jambalaya and it was missing the sausage. When I pointed in out to the server he claimed "the chef forgot to add it to the batch" and offered to bring a 'side' of uncooked portion. This place is a schizophrenic establishment. We were quite happy with this restaurant! This was out first time here. I live well over an hour away. We were there to celebrate our daughters birthday. (She is 30-something.) She lives about 20 minutes away. We had reservations at five for 4 adults and an 18 month old, (who I know can be problematic). We were greeted by the gentleman at the front desk and promptly seated. Our server, Nicole, was pleasant and attentive. She quickly set us up with water and drinks. She noticed a wrapped birthday gift and inquired. We told we were celebrating a birthday and she informed us that the birthday girl got a free dessert! She also told us that they had bottles of wine for 20 % off! We took advantage of that! Also, because we were in early, (before 6:00) that appetizers were 1/2 off! We took advantage of that as well! The 'Baja Egg Rolls, the Buffalo Cauliflower and the tuna tartare were all very good. So were the entrées! My Jambalaya was much better than I expected, considering this establishment is not a Cancun based. The others were very happy with their. Houses as well. Even the grandson was happy. And Nicole could not have been more pleasant! We might ask for her the next time we go! The portions of the meal were very good, and the price was reasonable. No one left hungry or wanting more! As for the facility itself, it had a nice atmosphere and appears to be clean. It's easy to get to with ample parking. I usually have a better than OK experience at 3. Tonight I went with the expectation of having fabulous crab cakes like the ones I had at a recent 3 restaurant food and wine pairing event. How disappointed I was when they came out and they were nothing but breading...couldn't find a flake of crab anywhere! So sad. On a positive note, the tuna tartare was excellent as always. read more

So we decided to go to 3 for Thanksgiving. It was a prix menu with about 5 options for dinner. They ran out of, what looked like a really good sirloin steak, early (4pm). If I could give 3 a 3-1/2 Star I would. The atmosphere is very nice, hostesses greated us and our party of 4 were seated promptly for our reservation time. Our server was very attentive. They lost a half star for having a rather limited and weak beer selection, but I'm a beer guy, so that's important to me. If your into wine they have that covered with a rather extensive list. They list about a dozen house cocktails, my bride had a cosmo and deemed it ok. A tiny basket of bread arrived that really was to small for 4 people along with enough butter and olive oil for 3 baskets? Bread is cheaper than butter and oil guys, Just saying. Appetizers were a Caesar salad, standard fare, no complaints. Coconut Shrimp, large and plump and tasty. I enjoyed the Calamari very much. A nice tender potion with the small tentacles, which I love. Flash fried to perfection and they even bread and fry the hot pepper rings which was great, it eliminated the vinegar which can be a bit much sometimes. The marinara was actually very good. Dinner consisted of Steak Tips that looked very good and there were no complaints. A large Pork Cutlet, flattened, breaded and pan fried along with some interesting vegetables. Our friend said it was yummy but so large she took half of it home. My wife and I love to cook and we know good food. Here's where a star was lost; She ordered the salmon dish. It arrived well presented with baby potatoes and some greens along with a glaze in the salmon. This was the smallest portion of salmon you could plate and still call it a dinner. It would have been small for a lunch item. That along with a serious lack of seasonings on this plate, was a disappointment. I had the grilled fish tacos. What kind of fish? Who knows? Portion size was ok for a lunch or light dinner. It came with not enough of the cilantro sauce or lame pico di Gallo. No heat or flavor in either. Fish was a tad dry. No spices on that prep either. There was slaw in the tacos but again no flavor or heat- just cabbage. Not worth $22 imho. My wife was the only one that ordered dessert- a huge serving of a brownie ice cream sundae. It was over portioned. Really strange in contrast to the meal portions we had. She said it was meh.... 3 is a lovely place that has a lot going for it. We've been there once for a function and that was great. Once for cocktails and snacks, it was ok. First time for a dinner. My wife said she wouldn't go back. I'd give it another try, but they need to increase the beer offerings and get a better handle on the portion sizes and especially the seasonings to hit the 4-5 Star mark. read more

I visited 3 recently with a small group (10 people). They were pretty busy, but were able to put a table together pretty quickly for us. The wait staff was great. They actually had personalities and were pleasant to deal with. My meal was very good and could have probably been priced higher. I got the shrimp/scallop dish with risotto and green beans. The shrimp & scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. The risotto was one of the best I've ever had and the beans were seasoned nicely. Overall great experience. read more

We have been ordering from 3 on Doordash. If you are looking for vegetarian food, or are just a veggie lover, or you like trying a variety of perfectly cooked very fresh dishes, we recommend 3. Try the lettuce wraps. Try lots of things. Love that they have expanded the menu to include dishes that are vegan. In general the food is really good here, though on the pricey side. One meal they just can't seem to get right is the "Prime Steak Frites" Essentially steak and shoestring fries. The fries are cut way to thin. the first time I had this order, the fries had so much oil on them they glistened. The second time, they were so overcooked that they had no taste what-so-ever. I mean really, how do you screw up shoestring fries? And the steak is a Skirt Steak, which is more suited for fajitas than as a stand alone piece of meat. It wasn't bad, it just didn't do it for me. They do a lot of things right here (They did a fantastic job with my daughter's First Communion celebration and they do a great Mother's Day Brunch) but just can't seem to get this basic "meat & potatoes meal right." read more

Disappointed and over-priced. Took the family tonight for pre-Christmas and celebration of my son's 21st birthday. Service was slow and my wife's food came out cold. My wife and I each had a martini. Waitress shakes and pours at table. Not enough in my shaker to even fill 3/4 of the glass. Waitress pretends she doesn't notice and leaves empty shaker. I had the snapper special. The snapper was OK, but two large filet's and 3 corn chips...no balance of an actual meal. Over-priced at $24. Told hostess we were celebrating a special birthday and no acknowledgment. Mother's Day - Special Menu - Part of 6 Appetizers - Mini Shrimp Taco - 4 mini tacos - they were really mini for sure, not really worth it. Not a lot of flavor Asian lettuce wraps - they were just ok. I have had better at CPK Shrimp cocktail - 4 waterlogged shrimp. Squeezed them and a lot of water came out. Homemade cocktail sauce was good, though. Cream of Asparagus soup - my son in law did not like it- taken off the bill My wife had a mixed green salad with mustard dressing. Dressing was like pure mustard. Salad did not seem fresh, not crisp. Topping the salad were long julienne strips of carrots and cucumbers about five to six inches long. My salad seemed the same. The salad was premixed with a Parm/pepper dressing. The dressing itself lacked the bite of parmesan and peppercorns I am used to. A little bland. Main course - 2 people had the Land and Sea - both were excellent and cooked perfectly. My son had the Steak Tips. They were cooked perfect, served with mashed potatoes and green beans. My daughter had daughter in law both had pasta dishes. Both had that sit under the heat lamp dried out look. A little crust on the pasta but the said it tasted good. I had chicken marsala with mashed potatoes. A small chicken breast with mushrooms and ham with a bland marsala sauce which had the under the heat lamp skin on the sauce. Desserts - 4 creme brule's - all were very good 1 over baked piece of key lime pie. Flavor was good but pie was very dark from overcooking Overall, I would try this place again and give it another shot. It was not busy when we went in nor did it get real busy while we were there. This place, with this staff would be a 5 star in any city in America. Franklin, consider yourself very lucky to have this jewel of a restaurant. This place is meant to impress and it does. They have one of the coolest looking bars that you will ever see. The effects of the lighting, colors and mirrors take you somewhere far far away from this suburban Boston town. I have come here alone, in small groups and large groups and the results are always the same. The staff is the best. I have been everywhere on the planet and this staff is absolutely, bar none the top I have encountered. The menu has something for everyone and everything they do, they do very well. All of a sudden I find myself in Franklin, alot. Its country fake suburbia and actually very nice, but it is duller than dirt and filled with chain stores. One day we pulled into 3 by mistake. I wasn't paying attention and thought I was pulling into the CVS parking lot down the street. WTF is this? Forget about the shampoo lets go in and check it out. We walked and and wowed. This is Franklin? We naturally headed to the bar and its fantastic. The room is great, the service good and the food I've had was excellent. Who would have guessed? Good fro Franklin! This is one of my favorite American food restaurants in town. Strong drinks. Great nachos--and I know my nachos. Some of the entrees are hit or miss but most of the appetizers are good. Menu changes seasonally. Good for a romantic night, kids, or friends hanging at the bar. The outside doesn't begin to show what the inside looks like. Ate here last night with my girlfriend and her family. Over all it was a nice dining experience, thanks to the company I was with- not so much the waitstaff. We were sat for about ten minutes before we were greeted or acknowledged. I think by the time the waitress finally arrived everyone was getting a little antsy and was ready for a cocktail. We ordered drinks, which, no word of a lie, took about another ten or fifteen minutes to get. Luckily I had ordered a water, which the waitress had brought over sooner, so I was able to rehydrate before dying of dehydration. Not so luckily for everyone else, who hadn't ordered waters. The main ball-drop occurred when the waitress approached the table for our dinner order before our cocktails had even touched down. Ouch. The place was busy, but not THAT busy. We definitely should have had our drinks by then. I ordered a dinner salad, and the Eggplant Parm for my dinner. We also had calamari as a starter. The calamari was good... really good. My salad was okay. The lettuce was turning and sort of had an expired taste. I tried to drown it in the peppercorn dressing, but that only made the salad taste like buttermilk. The eggplant was not bad, but not outstanding. In retrospect, I wish I had ordered the miso salmon, which looked really good and was my original instinct. Mostly everyone else at the table had swordfish which looked great and was reportedly delicious. So, in short the food was good, but I wouldn't necessarily go here again. The pace of the meal was sort of like riding a roller coaster- slow at some spots or really fast (see the rushed ordering before we had our cocktails). The ambiance of the restaurant was redeeming, and the martinis were good- but not worth the wait. read more
