Stopped in for lunch while working in the area and opted for the buffet, which was the best value. The food and service were decent. Not great but it got the job done. The space has a nice modern cocina feel, though the music was a bit loud for a lunch crowd. Overall, a solid stop if you're nearby, but not necessarily a spot I'd go out of my way for.

Well right off the bat I came to try Chonito's all you can eat breakfast brunch I've been wanting to try and it didn't disappoint! The service was real good all the waiters including the Manager/Owner was super kind and welcoming. I thought I had the stomach to really eat but 1 1/2 plates of food is all my stomach allowed me lol I loved their Chile verde de puerco it's so flavorful and tender like butter not rough at all, I tried their Chile Colorado as well but it can use a bit of seasoning but still the meat was tender soft and juicy texture overall was perfect on all the meats! It's really clean inside and I love that they played some chente and other og Mexican folk music. The vibes was amazing and I highly recommend this to everyone that's looking for a great Mexican Buffet. Much love to the staff keep the great work and hospitality till next time

Chonitos has turned divey and dirty over the years. I remember coming here back when they first opened and the experience was definitely different compared to today. The food experience is alright and plenty of drunken afternoons were had here! I feel the quality has changed, and drinks are getting pricier. Never tried the lunch buffet, but have heard it's not too bad. The service is a bit slow here, waiters kind of disappear in and out. The overall layout of the restaurant is a bit odd as well. I think they need a bit of modern renovations to bring the place up to date. Overall experience was alright. I think I would return to try the lunch buffet. A modern update and step up the service a bit would make the experience better next time.

STEAK and CHICKEN FAJITAS were so good.

Delicious good, attentive wait staff, nice spacious pet friendly patio with heaters if needed. Free parking lot as well as street parking. Yummy margaritas. Reasonable prices.

DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR!!!!! This place is absolutely DISGUSTING, with the WORST customer service ever. Went to eat and found the food flavorless and filled with MOLD.!!!! Wanted to discretely tell someone about it, but the servers were so bad that never went to the table to even ask if we wanted something else. This restaurant is highly marketed on social media, but the hype is completely overrated. Will most definitely never go back, as I do not want to get food poisoning!!!

Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Food: I ate 2 orders of soup dumplings and probably could have bodied down 5 more. They were ridiculously good, but prohibitively expensive.

Our waitress got us some free shots, very kind. :) Ambiance 4/5 I love the vibes, the darkness, the decor. It's just too stinky and smokey whenever they serve the Painkiller.

TLDR: Improved technology, more modern look, still affordable…read more I had been meaning to check out this newly reopened bowling alley for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got to go! I'm not sure if it's being run by the same owner or if someone else took over, but the building looks much more modern now. It's a little bittersweet to see all the nostalgic pieces of my childhood gone, but it's hard to deny that it's for the best. Prices were still pretty affordable. The staff member let us know that there's a cheaper deal on weekdays, which is pretty normal for bowling alleys. There is clearly a lot more seating on the top floor. The addition of all the tables is really nice. I also noticed that they removed the extra TVs that used to either play ads or sports and stuff. They also got rid of all the pool tables that I never saw anyone use. The screens and control panels are all updated to this modern design too. Something else that was interesting was how the old bowling ball racks were moved to the side of the building to make room for bag hooks behind the people bowling. Although it's a good idea, it's kind of hard to watch your belongings when they're behind you like that, so it leaves your stuff kind of open for stealing. It's also easier to grab the bowling ball you need though because they're all in one place instead of spread across the whole building. The only thing that I kind of hate is the seating down by the alley. There's actually less seating down there with these standalone dining table sets replacing the old benches. Since our party arrived when there were many other people there, we only had one side of the lane while strangers were on the other side. It's just a little awkward to sit at a dining table with strangers like that. Not to mention, the seating arrangement left a lot of people standing and kind of made it hard to communicate with each other. In terms of bowling mechanics, I think the amount of time it takes for the bowling ball to return has been reduced significantly. I'm so glad we don't have to wait ages for the ball to return for the second throw! The machine also didn't seem to experience incorrect racking, which used to happen all the time here. Sadly, the screen does not tell you the mph your throw was at anymore. I always thought that was a very helpful feature, so it's a shame to see it go. Lastly, the floors seemed well cleaned and waxed. I didn't have to powder my shoes and felt like my bowling ball glided pretty smoothly down the alleyway. Overall, I think this bowling alley is nice. I'm glad to have an alley that's close to my house again!

The decor is also very nice, it's like a transformation walking into a tasting area in a winery. I get why this place is the way it is, it is a different persona from the other owned establishment, but wine can be intimidating. You have the reds, whites, the sweets, the sparkling and etc. Not only the difference in profile, but you can pair it with food to enhance the overall flavor. There's potential to display educational decor or have sessions to educate. They do provide a wine club, but small steps can establish commitments with a new customer base. The pizza is delicious. I love a good dive bar, so I was genuinely excited to check this place out with friends. As Pasadena locals, we were hoping to find a new nearby local spot. When we ordered our drinks, the bartender told us, "$10, cash only." No problem, we were perfectly happy to pay cash. Less than five minutes after receiving our drinks, we were met with glares, negative attitudes, and a bartender who came back and said, "Yeah, that's $10." We were confused because we hadn't been told to pay immediately and thought we could settle up after finishing our drinks. She then gestured toward the ATM, snapped her fingers, and said, "Make it snappy," before rolling her eyes and walking away. The service was so rude and unwelcoming that I left no tip, the first time I've ever done that. The atmosphere also felt unwelcoming to anyone who wasn't a regular.
