We stopped in because of the high rating so naturally we were expecting a really good lunch. We didn't get one. One order was the chicken sandwich which was about as bland and tasteless as I've ever had. The chicken parm hero also had bland chicken but with a spicy sauce that was as hot as buffalo sauce, so that was odd. We ordered the steak fries, and unfortunately couldn't eat them because they were raw. Now here's the interesting bit. The servers saw plates of uneaten food when they came to clear. Wasn't that good. I got the 4 medium size scallops over some undercooked (hard crunchy) rice with mixed veg for $33. Potato wedges were also undercooked and hard. The steak in the tacos tasted gamey. The brussel sprouts and salad were very good. Steak paninis were bland. It's end of season and staffing at the lakes is limited. Yes, what a breakfast! Friends and I stayed over their connected Lakeside Resort and decided to try this bistro out for breakfast. Both the food and the views did not disappoint! They opened at around 8:00 a.m. and after a short walk around the beautiful grounds overlooking Lake Seneca, we decided to stop in for a meal. It was blazing hot on this June morning, yet we decided to sit outside on their beautiful patio. The lake and the resort cabins and grounds really make for a great view For food I ordered the waffellini which was amazing. It was so delicious I should have ordered two. The waffle and bacon are nice and crispy and it comes with a side of syrup to dip in. It's such a great value at only $7 with complimentary tea and coffee. I will definitely stop by again! read more

Stopped in on our way out of Watkins Glen as we headed home, and really loved it here! We didn't know when we stopped that this was part of a resort, but this little bistro offers great food, free coffee and tea, and some gorgeous views. The food was really great, like surprisingly so! We didn't have a ton of expectations for a resort restaurant but the food was fantastic and actually reasonably priced which we really appreciated. This little resort is amazing, and we will definitely be back to stay at some point! Only 1 star taken away because I wish that the menu were a little bit bigger. This is a great option for food especially if you have a dog and someone who is gluten free. The place is very nice; we sat outside on the porch because of the dog. I was thrilled to snag a reservation here for Valentine's day dinner. Sadly, although our server and the ambiance were lovely, we did not have a good experience here. We were initially seated at a table right below an adjacent, occupied table. The guests above us were definitely not 6 feet apart from us, and we felt pretty uncomfortable until we asked to be moved to a table by the fireplace. Once we were moved, we relaxed a bit and ordered our food. The menu was small, but I rejoiced in the fact that everything would be delicious due to the fresh ingredients. I ordered their Bistro Burger while my boyfriend ordered the Breaded Chicken Breast on pasta. Both of our dishes were very bland. My burger patty was very thick, so although the bacon jam was delicious, the flavor was masked by the thick patty and the potato roll. The patty itself was not seasoned or marinated at all. I eventually gave in and asked for salt and pepper. The pasta and breaded chicken also lacked flavor. It seemed like the only seasoning used was salt. Although there was cheese sauce dressing the chicken, there simply wasn't enough to save the dry pasta. This seems to be a very promising restaurant, but the flavors of their dishes seem very flat and one dimensional. read more

It has the best reviews in the area and we love good food, so we came here since it is close to the campgrounds. It's a small, quaint place and the servers were very pleasant and helpful. We got a beer, the sweet potato wontons, the steak, and the pork chop. All of the food was okay, but the pork chop was the most disappointing. I asked for it to be cooked medium well (as opposed to well), and it was so dry! The chop was smoked and then heated up I guess, and it was too much cooking. It really dried it out. I make a better, moister pork chop at home and when I eat out at a highly-rated restaurant, I want better food than what I can produce. Anyway, it was tasty overall, just not spectacular. read more

The Seneca Wine Trail is truly beautiful and right at the tip of the lake is Watkins Glenn. Also known for their famous race track it usually brings a healthy number of summer travelers. What appears to be missing is some really solid dining options. I read some Yelp reviews that made me say "DO NOT GO HERE". Once again Yelp helped me find a spot that should become a local favorite hopefully sooner than later. This restaurant is also connected to a summer retreat. There is a beautiful view of the lake from the grounds. An adorable and very bold chocolate lab was one of the first people to greet me when I arrived (apparently he lives on the property). When I walked in to the restaurant they asked me if I was checking in to the hotel. I said I was just there to dine. There wasn't a soul in the place. This is a shame because the chef here is doing some incredible work. The waitress explained that he was a local. He was using fresh, local ingredients and everything was homemade. The menu wasn't huge but their was a nice selection. They offered a 3/33 option so that is what I went with. I began with a brie that had a crispy phyllo dough crust. It was accompanied with toast points and a compote of local blueberries. It was very unique and very tasty. The summer salad was so eclectic and fresh. I have never had one like it. He used squash blossoms! What a rebel! The creamy garlic dressing paired so well with the veggies. I finished with the turkey panini. It was delicious and had some awesome bacon. The pickles served with the sandwich were homemade and I loved them. Wish I could steal the recepie! So there you have it wine lovers. Make this unassuming bistro a stop on your next trip around the lake. The chef here knows his craft and it showed in every dish. read more

AND they have a lovely well-behaved, friendly, chocolate lab, Rocky, who will bask in the sun to complete the bucolic feel of the place. There were initially no tables available out on the deck, but the staff moved us outside when one opened up without us asking. Steak panini was great. Grilled cheese with bacon & tomato on thick sourdough bread was crunchy, melty with a little kick. Yummy cheese sauce with warm pretzel sticks for appetizer was delicious. Great vibe, good drinks, beautiful view and dog friendly! We loved seeing the dogs playing in the field out back. Service was great and we left with a complimentary coffee for the road. The braised short rib was falling off the bone and cooked in a coffee-based braising liquid. The sandwiches are slightly larger with crispy bread. The veggie panini had fresh zucchini and tomato (just wished there was more). We just came back from watkins glen hiking. Made sure to come back to this adorable bistro while touring the breweries and wineries in the area ... but this time we brought two friends! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my southwestern steak sandwich and fries ... to die for and can't stop thinking about how delicious the buttered, toasted roll was, let alone the perfectly cooked and seasoned steak! We got a Bistro burger and chicken bacon wrap, as well as the berry bread pudding and the homemade peanut butter cups and everything was delicious.
