Honestly, I'm not sure if I was really just starving and it's been a while since I've had sushi so I was excited... But I think this was the best sushi I have ever had. That is a bold statement, but that is how I felt about my experience last night and I'm excited to go back and eat more sushi! We got a bunch of different things on their happy hour menu and then ordered more. I think the Sexy girl roll and the spicy tuna on crispy rice where my two favorite things. The chicken teriyaki was also really yummy. There is a parking lot, but it is small and was full so we had to find street parking, but it wasn't too bad.

Ordered on Postmates and they prepared our food so quickly! The American dragon roll was yummy and they provided a decent side of eel sauce. The Alaskan cut roll was mid, salmon was kind of hard, wouldn't recommend. My girlfriend got the sunrise on second, negihama c/r, and yellowtail yo-yo sushi, all of which she said were good. Prices were good too so I'll definitely try more rolls next time.

I am so happy I finally tried this place! Plenty of free parking in the lot, clean bathrooms. Such a quaint place with a cute ambiance. Absolutely amazing service! Our waitress was great and the whole team works together to deliver your food, ask if you need more drinks, bus the tables, etc. We ordered the crunch roll, sexy girl roll and a couple others and they were all amazing and fresh! The happy hour menu is the star here! Every day from 3-6 and amazing deals! We got 5 rolls, 2 being premium rolls, for only $50ish dollars! Other great happy hour deals as well. We ordered a pitcher of beer and hot sake and all were very reasonably priced. I cannot wait to go back and try more food! Delicious!!

39 Degrees and I Luv Sushi are still two of my top favorites for specialty rolls and sashimi. My daughter and I came in a little over a week ago to have sushi. We sat at the bar this time around and were attended by Jay and behind the counter making our sushi was John (I couldn't clearly hear his name but I believe that was his name.) He was very friendly and even offered me a piece of salmon belly sashimi so I could taste the difference between that and the regular salmon sashimi. It really does melt in your mouth! Thank you for the special treatment Between the two of us, we shared a sunrise on second roll, 3 pieces each of salmon and yellowtail sashimi and two pieces of unagi sushi. It was all very fresh and delicious, and my kid had fun sitting at the counter vs a table. Will be back soon!

We were in the area on a late Saturday evening and we're in the mood for some sushi. Decided to try this place. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately and seated right away. It was late, so it wasn't too busy. It took us a while to order because of the large selection, but we decided to try a few things. We ordered the Ashley roll, orange roll, Sake Maki, Tonkatsu Ramen, salmon, skin hand, roll, and salmon bowl. Everything came out pretty quickly and it was very good. The prices were very reasonable here so we were happy to get a great meal for a reasonable price. My favorite was the orange roll. To sum it up, this is a great place to try out. If you're in the area, give them a try. Staff is very friendly, the restaurant is nice and clean, the bathrooms were also nice and clean, and food was delicious. We will definitely be back if we're in the area.

First time here and I can't wait to come back! Service was so nice and made sure that the rolls were free of shellfish for my friend who is allergic. Sushi was delicious too! Their happy hour ends at 6 so we missed that but I definitely want to come back for that. The spicy edamame was sooooo good too! Inside was clean and bathrooms were clean too.

Finally got to try this place! I've driven by it so many times and always wanted to try. It was a rainy day, and I wanted soup and this was yelp's first hit. Thankfully, I was also craving sushi! The service was quick, friendly, and easy. The ambiance was relaxed and family-friendly. The food was great!! My favorite was the Sunrise on Second Street roll and the spicy miso soup (tasted like tom yum!) I also got to try Ika Geso (fried squid tentacles) This will be a new sushi staple especially since it's so close to home, thank you 39 Degrees!

3.5 stars Finding a sushi spot open late in the Long Beach area is basically a quest and 39 Degrees came through. We skipped Dodger Stadium food (nothing healthy there) and decided to wait until after the game to eat, which led us here. We weren't sure about the quality at first, so we stuck with cooked options: spicy garlic edamane, volcano roll, baked green mussels, and yellowtail collar. Every single thing was surprisingly good and we even had enough leftovers for one more meal! Prices were super reasonable, parking was easy since they have a lot in the back, and the whole vibe was chill. Definitely coming back for late night sushi again.

It was my second time visiting this place. The first time, I remember enjoying their sashimi salad for lunch. This time I was with a friend that doesnt like super raw rolls so I compensated. We ordered various items and honestly I still prefer their (more) rare menu items. I didnt like their miso soup but liked their sake. Dint take pics of all orders but overall recommend this place for late night.

I've passed by this spot so many times but never actually tried it--until I heard about their happy hour. I'm really glad I finally gave it a chance because it did not disappoint. The place has a modern, relaxed vibe that makes it easy to just sit back and enjoy your food. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and neatly presented without being over the top. It's the kind of spot that keeps things simple but still delivers on quality, making it a great option whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or taking advantage of their happy hour deals. Also! They do have parking which is great! Considering it's

The food was really good. Spicy tuna roll was exceptional, I really liked the crunchy roll as well. Service was so fast and Sammie the server I had was so great, genuinely kind and happy, perfect person to match the great food! Plenty of parking in the back. Very reasonable prices. The place was clean, the ambiance was fine. I will definitely be back. Great place for lunch. Thank you!

Went to dinner tonight with our daughters, on Saturday and arrived about 5:30PM. Happy hour menu was great, and it's was available until 6PM - but our service was reallllly slow today, by the time our drink order was taken, happy hour was just about done. I can only hope it wasn't intentionally slow so we can pay full price. For starters: Spicy edamame - great taste - plenty of chili flakes - 10/10 Garlic edamame. - it's not bad - 7/10 We also tried the scallop tempera, and that was delicious. - 8/10 Main dishes: Spicy Upon Soup- chef's kiss - 10/10 BLC roll - our favorite - 10/10 Tsunami roll - 8/10 Chicken teriyaki bowl - 6/10 Chicken teriyaki plate - 6/10 My girls said the teriyaki was just OK Dessert: Strawberry Mochi - comes with 2 pieces of- 10/10 Service: Unfortunately, today it was a 7/10 The restaurant was not too busy, but the service was extremely slow. And our server was very soft spoken, so it was difficult to hear her over their music.

We came here after a walk on the beach And the food was great but the service was 10/10 the girl who helped us was so sweet and very attentive. I love that they have kids meals and good portions. We will be coming back again (:

If I'm not mistaken, I want to say the name has changed a couple times, but I could be confusing it for another restaurant on PCH. Plenty of parking though in their private lot. I first popped in a couple of days before Christmas with my daughter and my dad. It was mostly empty with maybe only 3-4 other tables being served. It was slow, but we were tended to efficiently. That time my dad ordered their Tom Kha ramen, I ordered the Love Potion roll and, my daughter got the Super California roll. We also got an order of egg rolls to share. Everything was do delicious, and I knew I had to come back to get the ramen for myself. I love how it's a mix of Thai and Ramen together in the bowl. So 2 nights ago, that is just what I did. Came back with my daughter and I ordered the Tom Kha ramen and the same two sushi rolls. I opted for the small ramen bowl which was only $9 and sufficient. It comes with chicken, mushrooms and half of a perfectly soft boiled egg. I'll have to get an extra piece next time! My daughter enjoys California rolls and also likes unagi, so the Super California is the perfect roll! Even I like it a lot. The Love Potion has shrimp tempura and pickled jalapeño inside and is topped with tuna, mango, masago and green onion. It also has the little crunchy flakes on top but isn't technically a crunch roll. It is such a flavor bomb, even my daughter likes it, but she prefers to pick out the jalapeño pieces. This time around, it was more full. There was only one lady taking the orders, bringing out drinks and food to the tables, handling to-go orders, taking care of the bill. I don't know if this is usually the case, she was nice and efficient enough, but not having any help did slow things down a bit. It won't deter me from coming back though. They have good lunch and happy hour specials. I'll definitely return.

What's funny is that we've both lived around Long Beach forever and somehow never fully connected with Oho despite hearing good things about it for years. We had randomly stopped in one afternoon recently thinking we'd just split a roll and head home, but the food ended up being so good that we kept ordering "one more thing" until we accidentally skipped dinner entirely later that night. That experience was good enough that when we found ourselves trying to figure out dinner again yesterday, Oho immediately came back into the conversation. We got there early evening and the timing was perfect. Busy enough to feel lively and like you were out for the night, but not so packed that service slowed down or the room became chaotic. The pacing of the meal was honestly one of the best parts. Dishes came out steadily without crowding the table, and everything felt very natural and relaxed. The tuna crispy rice was fantastic and a little different from the usual presentation. Perfect crisp on the outside, almost caramelized, with really airy spicy tuna on top that reminded me more of a tartare texture than the heavier versions you sometimes get elsewhere. We also had bluefin tuna, toro, salmon sashimi, a spicy scallop roll, and the Extreme Crunch Roll with light eel sauce, which ended up being surprisingly balanced and not over-the-top despite the name. Even the iced green tea stood out. Bright green, almost cloudy, super refreshing, and honestly exactly what I wanted with sushi. Service was excellent both visits. It felt very team-oriented behind the sushi bar and on the floor, which kept everything moving smoothly without feeling rushed. A couple practical notes: parking is easy overall, but the lot is shared with the motel, so just be mindful where you park and try to stay closer toward the restaurant side of the lot. Also, this feels much better suited for couples or small groups than large parties. Four people would be ideal. Six is probably pushing it unless the restaurant is unusually quiet. Really happy we gave this place another shot because it ended up being one of the more satisfying sushi dinners we've had in a while.

Didn't enjoy the scallop handroll as much; however, they had a scallop sashimi appetizer this month that was amazing. The appetizer had thinly sliced hotate (Hokkaido scallops), seasoned with yuzu and it was delicious. Also ordered a soft-shell crab appetizer and we appreciated the meatiness of the soft-shell crab. While HiroNori is a SoCal chain, it still feels like a mom and pop restaurant. The crispy rice with tuna was EXCELLENT! Everything you want from crispy rice and spicy tuna. The tonkatsu was delicious! Great depth of flavor. They bring you garlic and spicy paste on the side. I had to add A LOT of spicy paste to get it up to the level I wanted, but while at other restaurants I've lost the broth flavor when adding too much spice, the spicy paste just enhanced the tonkatsu broth. The reality is that this restaurant is just adding frivolous fees on top of already expensive, overpriced food and drink. It is incredibly disgusting that management wants to pass their extra operational expenses directly onto the customer because they refuse to pay their employees what they are worth. I refuse to be lied to, tricked, or hit with random mandatory fees just for the sake of being charged. Walking out was the easiest decision I made today. Coming here was a spur of the moment decision and totally worth it!…read more I had been wanting to come here for a while with my sister and today was the day Linda! My other sister joined so we were three lovely ladies total. There was no wait, we walked in and we're promptly greeted and asked how big was our party. BAM! Got seated immediately. We sat down like 2 minutes before Happy Hour ended and we were approached by the guy taking the orders, and of course I was all hurried like telling him what we wanted from the HH menu but he was all; "Don't you worry momma, take your time and you'll still get the happy hour special!"(not those exact words, but you get what I'm sayin) And we sure did, we got the gyoza, edamame, and shumai. And one of my sisters ordered a House Draft beer. We were actually ready to put in our whole order so we did. While we waited, we were brought water and paper cups, not the fanciest, but gets the job done. I only took pictures of the food and menus, but the inside gives off this small-katsu-shop-in-Japan feel. Very cool. It definitely does not give off like it's trying too hard; just kinda says "This is me, take me as what I am." And we totally did. The appetizers started arriving shortly after the water and we went to work. Gyoza- perfectly crisp, filled generously and well seasoned meat inside. Came with a soy sauce based sauce and spicy Mayo. We all enjoyed both dipping sauces. Next up: edamame. These were basic. Just steamed and heavily salted. Not with it for me cause it was nothing special. But I did end up seeing. Spicy edamame on the menu after we had already finished our food so that might be worth a try. And before the shumai was able to come to our table, the main course arrived. #1- and my favorite- House Special Gyu Katsu + curry. This is a whole experience, my friend. They bring out the breaded ribeye, raw and sliced. With it, a stone and fire grill. And a split condiments dish with course salt and a soy dipping sauce. You add the sliced meat on the hot grill, let it get a good sear, sprinkle a little of the course salt and a quick dip in the sauce and put the whole piece straight into your mouth hole. Trust. It is ....eye-closing delicious. #2 - Chicken Katsu curry. You get the same sides as the Gyu Katsu, minus the wasabi. There's white rice, seaweed salad, macaroni salad, and shredded cabbage. The chicken it cooked to perfection, tender and moist. The breading well done, staying on the chicken through the dipping and eating process. Along with your decided Katsu meat, if curry chosen, you get a boat of curry. The curry was good, no modification Can be dove really, but in my opinion not necessary. I would drink it if it wasn't seen as obnoxiously disgusting. Anyway, if you're looking to get more custom Japanese curry, try Coco Ichibanya. Look it up. Overall, everything came out at a very timely manner, fresh and delicious. It is also such a fun and engaging food-sperience!

I did not come prepared for a chilly night. We were supposed to just have coffee and go for a walk, but we needed a warm place, so we stumbled upon this place. It's actually pretty good. We sat at the counter/bar. The servers were nice. What we got: Salmon/tuna poke bowl: quite yummy. A mixture of both salmon and tuna in a great poke sauce over a bed of rice and salad. Salmon skin salad: if you like salmon skin, this is yummy. A perfect crunch seasoned really well to complement the bed of greens. Furikake fries: thinly cut potato's with furikake seasoning paired with a sweet mustard dipping sauce. I would have enjoyed more Furikake on the fries, but that's just me. This place has real wasabi if you ask for it instead of the watered down stuff you usually get. It's actually pretty good! Overall great food and great service. I'd come back for sure!
