Food is amazing every time! Service is a a little slow. However the food and kindness makes up for it! Highly recommended!

I am extremely mad that this place will be open for four years soon and I have only just discovered it. There thing is southern comfort food. Well let me tell you I will be returning much much more. Today my daughter and her mother found this place and saw that it had great reviews. I am from the nearby City of Plainfield and do not have any place even close to this. We walked in to the small quaint place and sat down right away. The menu revealed som awesome southern gems that you can't really find around here. Fried Okra, biscuits, grits, fried shrimp, chicken and waffles, fried fish and grits, shrimp and grit in spicy sauce, gator bites, and not today but when it's in season, fried green tomatoes. Let me tell you I ordered fried shrimp n grits, my other half had chicken and waffles and we had fried okra for an app. Oh my god. Everything that occupied our table was absolutely amazing. I wish I could give NO STARTS! My mom recommended this spot, said they had great food. My friend and I drove down from NYC to give it a try on a Saturday afternoon. The wait for the table wasn't too bad but the shitshow started as soon as we were seated. There was no structure with how our order was taken, one person came to ask "you want something to drink?" and another "you got something to drink already?" The staff didn't even know what to so. We witnessed the owner, Najee berate his staff in front of customers. Once our order was placed with said Owner/ manager: 2 appetizers, grilled shrimp & fried green tomatoes, 2 chicken dinner one with white meat & one with dark meat. We even clarified, which pieces classified as dark & white meat, Najee confirmed white = wing & breast, dark = leg & thigh. We waited about 45 minutes before any food came out and noticed the table of four next to us, who ordered after us, begin to get their food. Once we began to inquire about the order of service, asking where our apps were, we was told by a female staff " oh I'm just bringing out the food, I'm not in charge of that" basically referring us back to Najee. Our fried green tomatoes finally come out, we ask about our shrimp, & the rest of our food comes out shortly after, then in which we cancel the shrimp. Our chicken dinners come out but is missing mac & cheese (it comes with Mac, greens and yams). I notice my white meat doesn't have a chicken breast & my friend also doesn't thinks she had a breast instead of a thigh. Najee comes over, I ask "I thought I get a breast & wing?" He says the wing & chicken tender on my plate is part of the breast. I'm shocked & say ok as I prepare to eat. My friend says "excuse me", to ask another question Najee rudely interrupts her by saying "if we gonna be a problem you can just get up and leave the food right there!" So we did just that! As we're leaving out he yells "go to Popeys!" I've never experienced such ghetto, unprofessional behavior from a business owner! I proudly support black owned business, as a small business owner myself, I know customers is everything. I fully understand if they were short staffed & under staffed but communication is key, something we never got & when asked receive an attitude. Never again! read more

Took my mom and a friend here for lunch today. What a great find, only a few minutes from her home! Great food, and a friendly staff. Mom had Chicken & Waffles and I had Catfish & Chips, both ample portions and delicious. And where else nearby can you get fried Okra? Good coffee, too! Only thing that kept me from a 5-Star review was the noise level. Even after we asked about turning the music down, it was still very loud for such a small space. I had a late breakfast here on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. It was my first time here. I had shrimp with grits, which included two eggs any style, and a biscuit. I also ordered a side of fried green tomatoes. This was THE best shrimp and grits I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly. The grits were creamy and delicious. The sunny-side-up eggs were perfect. The biscuit was the definition of what a biscuit should be: dense, chewy in a good way, and tasty. The fried green tomatoes were a revelation: Thinly sliced, lightly battered, with no oiliness, and absolutely perfect with hot sauce. I washed down all this excellent food with a quart-size canning jar of excellent sweet tea. When I was there, the funk music added to the fun of Four Brothers. Party of 7. We had reservations and were on time but waited 20 min to be seated. No problem. Then we waited 25 minutes to place a drink order while others who came in after us were served. Didn't get drinks or even water until after we placed food order which took another 15 minutes. My water glass was broken when it was handed to me. One person was served then five minutes later two more were served, then another five minutes the rest of us. Shrimp and grits, chicken, biscuits very good. Waffles not so much. Mac and cheese was like soup! Ugh! Music great. Throughout it all priority was given to cleaning off empty tables and seating people vs. asking us if we needed anything and clearing plates from our table. Second Trip: The service is incredible & friendly. They remembered that our group had a toddler in a high chair last time. The high chair was at our table before we got here today. We had only been here once before. For them to remember our name when we had only been here once before (two months ago) was nice to see. ------------------------------------------------ Finally made my way here. I highly recommended it. The food was really good and the people were really friendly. It is a small place. They only have have about 5 tables with total seating for no more than 20 people so make sure you reserve a table ahead of time. They don't do takeout orders on the weekend xo I'm not sure how they make enough money to remain profitable but that translates into great service for people who are dining in. The constantly checked to see what we thought of the food and Jason even asked us to pull him aside if anything was wrong with the order. The food was really good. I had their classic burger. If you are looking for authentic southern food, this is your place. Tucked away in a small retail court with just a logo of 4B, you could easily miss it. Since it's a family run place, the dining area is small and humble. The owners are friendly and welcoming with a great ear for soulful music. As for the food, the reviews speak for themselves. My first experience was ordering the catfish and grits platter that came with a side of eggs and a biscuit. I was thoroughly impressed. The catfish was hot, juicy and crispy. The grits were flavorful and not overpowering or bland and complimented the catfish perfectly. The biscuit was soft and buttery. It's the first time I finally understood what all the rage is for biscuits in the south. Later on I ordered the chicken and waffles. Again, I wanted to know what all the rage is. I found the chocolate waffle was even more amazing than the regular waffle. Now I have a place to get "chocolate waffles"! The chicken is hot and juicy and doesn't disappoint. Today was my first time with this restaurant. It was AMAZING ! We got there early and were the only ones in the place for the first while, so it was just us and the nice upbeat music... I couldn't decide amongst two menu items, so naturally, ordered both. Best decision ! The Mt. Bethel (Carrot Cake waffles with chicken) and Spicy Shrimp and Grits were both delicious, highly recommend both. The biscuits (wow). I was so excited to find this place owned and operated by Black brothers in Warren NJ. i made reservations for 6 got a con firmation and called to change it to three. We arrived and were greeted by the RUDEST person ive ever encountered at any place of business.He came with this sour face and broken ipad and said i had no reservations. Let me start my review by saying this is the unhappiest, most unwelcoming service I have received in a restaurant in the last 20 years!! I should have known this when we accidentally went inside the restaurant when we first got there and were rudely told to go back outside and wait by the sign... So sad b/c these are the owners!! It took forever to even order. Then we had to wait FOREVER for our food! Others who came after us had their food before ours. When our food did finally come after what had to be over 45 minutes (we were a party of 2 and we each got 1 waffle and 3 fried chicken legs each), they only brought each of us one chicken leg each??? They said the other 2 chicken legs for both of us will be out shortly. Shortly to them must be over 10 mins which was our wait to get them. The other thing we noticed is that they screwed up everyone's egg order. I think we noticed 3 orders of eggs from different parties were done incorrectly. This was actually comical with a few patrons from other tables looking around and laughing. Maybe no wonder it took us forever to get our food b/c they had to keep redoing everyone else's order that they got wrong!! As an aside, the waffles were only ok, not sure if they were cooked too well done. Then the best part -- the kicker was the 20% tip automatically added to the bill. It didn't mention this anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu??? No wonder why the service can be so LOUSY...b/c the tip is given to them automatically and 20% at that. Absolutely horrible and unacceptable!! I never heard of this around here for parties under 6 or 8. I guess they are worried about customers short changing them on their tip for their lousy service. Lastly, they mention they are #1 rated restaurant in Warren on YELP. Well, guess what?? Not any longer. They dropped down to #3 and I'm sure they will even be dropping further as they keep up their indifferent and nasty attitudes! If you want to go and experience what we did, give them a try and see for yourself. For much better food and a far better experience and not feeling cramped when you are seated, go to Country Squire in the center of town. They have been in town for over 20 years, have great service and food and will be happy to have your business! read more

If you're looking for an average spot, this is not the place for you. From the moment you enter, you're transported into their home. Rule #1 - be prepared for LARGE portions Rule #2 - forget everything you THOUGHT you knew about chicken and waffles. Rule #3 - get ready to indulge in flavors your probably never knew existed. These guys have, in my opinion, perfected the fried pickle. These aren't soggy sad pickle chips. They are crisp, delightful flavor disks and you're going to love them. I highly recommend the Spicy Bayou Shrimp and Grits. Hands down these are the best grits I've had this side of the Mason-Dixon. Just when you think it can't get better, they top them with HUGE shrimp not tiny little prawns lightly sprinkled with a little Cajun seasoning. It also comes with two eggs (your way) and one of their melt in your mouth biscuits. If you're going for chicken and waffles, you can't go wrong with any of their options. Keep in mind perfection takes time, so the chicken does take around 15-20 minutes depending on how busy they are, but you will not be disappointed. The first crunch in you will be hooked. I tend to order their iced teas as my beverage choice. I can honestly say each one is better than the last when I didn't think it were possible. The biggest complaint you can levy here is that you will wait, to be seated, but trust that it is worth every moment. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is super informal, really feels like eating breakfast at a friend's house more than going out to a restaurant, and the teas are great. The apple tea tastes like drinking an apple pie but isn't cloyingly sweet, rather refreshing and enjoyable. I have yet to have on bad thing from their kitchen. The pickle chips are great, gator nuggets, catfish bites, biscuits, everything. By far and away though, I keep coming back for the bayou sauce. Originally made for their Bayou Shrimp and Grits dish they suggested one day to try it with the catfish. I have been hooked since, I could put that sauce on a sock and it'd be amazing, but everything else they make is so damn good that adding the bayou sauce makes the food heavenly. Price is good too, inexpensive and you definitely get what you pay for. This is not a fast food type of place, so expect food service to take a bit because everything is made fresh. read more

Looking for a FRIED CHICKEN BREAST on the bone with skin, FUGETABOUTIT. Went for the FRIED CHICKEN based on reviews and ordered all White Meat. The waiter said "2 wings and a breast?" I said "yes, that's fine". I was, and still am, extremely shocked and disappointed that what I got were 2 wings and some chicken tenders cooked with different seasonings than the wings. When the waitperson asked how my meal was, I said good except for the the chicken tenders that didn't taste like the other chicken and wasn't a real "breast". This morning was my 1st visit to this restaurant. We were welcomed right away, seated, and offered our menu. It was great to see turkey bacon on the menu. I had the waffles, turkey bacon, and eggs over medium. My spouse had the salmon cakes and grits. Everything was good even the coffee which they kept refilling without hesitation. I am a hater of grits. I have had it cooked with gravy, cheese, you name it. I can't eat it. Today I decided to taste the grits because they looked different to me. They were absolutely delicious!!! Our party of five (including young children) arrived 5 minutes early for a 12:30 pm reservation; but we were informed that no table was available for us. When asked how long the wait would be, we were gruffly told that no time estimate would be provided because "I can't make a family get up because they ran into your reservation time." We waited outside for 20 minutes, during which time no one checked in on us, or even had the common courtesy to provide status updates. After 20 minutes, my husband informed the restaurant owners that we and our 3 children were leaving - a pronouncement that was met with an indifferent shrug. I doubt we will be back. What is the point of having a reservation system if the restaurant will not honor reservations??? And the lack of concern for customer complaints and insensitivity to the suffering of hungry children ... gravely disappointing!!! read more
