I went in at 10 and told them from the beginning I had an older car (1998) and if they are able do my star smog test. The Asian guy said yes and I waited for 20 minutes only for him to come back and say "miss I can't do your car." And proceeds to work on another car. What a waste of my time. First of all it wasn't a quick in n out since those guys were so busy talking amongst themselves in their language which is annoying as hell. Secondly they are in no rush to take care of customers as i my truck was done in 15 min and I just kept sitting there while the smog tech started working on next car, Hey how bout u finish the first one and get me out of the smoky place. Here's my tip: Do NOT go here! I was at the DMV off Alma today and was in line to get my car registered. Talked to a couple folks in line and one of the guys in line mentioned that he got his smog test here for $45 just an hour ago. He mentioned that the folks at Keyes Test were fine. Before going there, I yelped the place and I saw that they did not have a great reputation. I hesitated a bit about going, but it was really close to the DMV, so I just went. REALLY, REALLY REGRET IT! When I got there, smog test was $58 (so they said). After giving them my credit card, I signed the paper and they charged me $58.25. They said that it's an extra $0.25 for using a credit card; HOWEVER, they did not tell me that. Very SNEAKY guys! So what - I know it's only $0.25, but negative points for not saying that up front. read more

Have used this location for 4 years with two different cars. Things were fine in the past. This latest experience tanked it for them. They don't need my business, and likely that of my friends. I used their Craigslist discount for $35 on a Sunday in the past, and planned to use it a couple weeks ago. Nothing in the ad mentions higher pricing for the age of the vehicle. When I arrived, he told me it was $15 more. I just wanted it to be done, so I told him to go ahead anyway. After 15 minutes of hearing the car go through acceleration, the tech tells me the RPMs aren't registering with the equipment. Since my car worked fine the next morning at a different smog place in Cupertino, either his equipment was borked or he was messing with me after I argued about the price. They're adequate if you don't mind standing out in the parking lot waiting. Just make sure you mention the craigslist ad or you'll be charged random pricing. Like my pal who got tested a few weeks before me and was charged $58. read more

Service was quick enough, however I was extremely disappointed that when I asked if I could pay by American Express that the answer was yes, but at the end of the service the answer suddenly changed to Visa/Mastercard only... but the same employee no doubt. So its that time again for Smog check. I came to 480 Keyes because of its good reviews. Also great tip from Yelpers theres a coupon on Google you can print for $40 smog test. If you car doesnt pass they will retest for free. Sounds fair. Thats great given all the other places I called charge $50. Anyways When I called over the phone to ask how much they charge the man that answered was very nice. Overall the man who did my smog (whose name I didnt get) was also veryyy nice. Very satisfied with this business. The best part for me was that they were open on a Sunday! It was quick, about 15 minutes. The gentleman who did the check was polite and seemed trustworthy. I mentioned the add on CraigsList & the total, test & certificate was $35, (Sunday only). (No hidden fees). He sent the results to the DMV as well as providing a copy. The normal out the door price is $50, which is already fair but if you see an ad by searching Craig's list, you can get it for $35 or $40! 480 Keyes Test Only advertises on Craigslist a $35 smog check including certificate on Sunday for all cars. When I arrived I was told that my 1992 car was too old and the cost for a smog check was $70. I showed him the Craigslist ad that I printed today but he said that he would not not do the smog check for the price in his own ad. This same ad has been fraudulently on Craigslist for many months. Do not go to this station because the operator is rude and they do not charge the price that is in their ad. read more

Very poor service. I went here before in the past and it was great. This guy who doesn't speak very good English tells me my cat converter is illegal and I need to get it replaced. I just got it replaced a few days prior to getting it smogged, so I thought my mechanic gave me something I was not supposed to have but turns out I had the right one. The asian dude who told me I had the wrong cat converter was very disrespectful, he sticks this mirror stick to see the model number that is stamped on my cat converter near the engine and doesn't realize that the numbers are backwards. Common mistake, and also a great way to check while saving time, I would have given them more stars but this guy was rude. It's hard enough to understand him due to his thick accent. I wanted to go somewhere else that deserves my money but he charges me before I get the service. Never going there again. Paid $58 but found out there are deals better else where but I thought this place would be like it was last time I went. Nope, waste of time and money so this place doesn't make "cents".... read more
