5-star contractors indeed. Our outside HVAC unit suddenly stopped working on a Friday night. Requested a quote at noon on Saturday, got an immediate quote within 30 minutes, and they were able to send a technician within an hour. Not just any technician, but Wes the man. Pulled up to the house on time, figured out the problem even before he rang my doorbell, and fixed it all in less than 10 minutes, all the while giving me helpful advice about maintenance. In the end, I was quoted a very reasonable price, at least 1/3 cheaper than a few others that provided quotes. Pros: 5 Star is quick when you call, and they do respectable work. Cons: they are kind of like used car salesmen when they find a problem. Our condenser was leaking, and they competently diagnosed the problem. Then the attempt to overcharge started; "it will be $3,600 to replace it, but if you say yes right now, I can knock it down to $3,200". Needless to say, I got several bids for it. Total cost, $1,900. AC works great now. Didn't need to pay 5 Star an extra $1,300 to make it happen. I can only imagine that their technicians get a cut of the up charge. read more

This is the second time I've had to use 5 Star HVAC for our home. They are so incredibly easy to request service online. They give you a time frame of when the technician will arrive that won't keep you waiting around all day. They are extremely punctual. They gave me several options with absolutely no pressure to choose the highest priced option to get my system running again. I had them install a new unit in the attic and the installation was done faster than quoted and all of the workers were friendly and cleaned up after they were done. Just had my entire A/C system replaced by this company and it has been a frustrating ordeal the entire time. I was told they would start the installation at 4:00 on Wednesday so I left work a couple hours early to accommodate. No problem. The problem is that no one showed up until 6:00 and no one ever called me to tell me. I had to text Billy after they were already an hour late to find out anything. So then they install the system and end up having to cut off part of the door frame of the a/c closet to fit it in there but they tell me that someone will come by at 4:00 the next day to fix it. So again, that's no problem. So I left work early again and get home and wait. At 5:00 no one has showed up and no phone call. So I text Billy and he tells me they are coming out the next day instead. Sure would have been nice to know before I left work early again. At this point I'm out about $200 in lost wages for no good reason, and was never offered anything to help make up for it. It would have been nice if they offered a free duct cleaning or free tuneup next year or something. Not just "sorry". The work they did is okay but the lack of communication is what is going to make me avoid this company in the future. Also, as a side note: my brother used this company for a new a/c system a month before I did and he tried to warn me. He had the same communication problems and it took them 3 days to finish installing his as well. Update: just took a look at some of their repair work and they left a 1 sq.ft. hole in the ceiling in the a/c closet. So I have insulation and crap falling down and making a mess all over. I'm going to fix it myself because I obviously can't trust them to do anything right. read more

I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT 5 Star HVAC Contractors!! They are the best and what is most important, they are honest and trustworthy. You can rely on what they are telling you as the truth. PERIOD. Prices so beyond reasonable and the service level top notch. I would recommend to anyone. Your best bet and safest bet is to use 5 Star. THE BACK-story: Our upstairs AC unit was on its way out and we began the task of obtaining estimates from AC companies. Our first estimate from company X was an utter joke and the company reps were simply churning what we knew was wrong into things that were not wrong and did not need replacing, I later found out that this company pays its estimators on commission. NOT GOOD. A friend recommended 5 Star to us as they had used them for their furnace and AC unit as well. So I gave them a call and Mr. Jose Vargas gave us an estimate and looked over the estimate previously received finding that the proposed compressor from company X was not the correct unit and in fact was smaller than what was being replaced which would have lead to other problems with the downstairs unit. (SCARY) 5 star replaced our furnace and upstairs AC unit and the price was so reasonable. They arrived to do the work exactly at the time stated and all of the gentleman who worked on our installation were courteous and nice. Mr. Vargas took care of our problem and made sure everything was correct and even went as far as placing a thermostat cover back plate on the wall so I didn't have to touch-up paint !! He explained everything that was done and tried everything possible to get the unit right next to the downstairs unit and on the same slab but it just would not happen. He showed my husband and I photos and everything. From the first call to the day of installation was a period of 4 days. My last thought is simply this; if you DONT use Jose Vargas and 5 Star HVAC Contractors you are just stupid - because they are AWESOME!!!!!! read more

I went from 5 starts to one with this company. I initially called them because my furnace was blowing cold air. Their response time was excellent. The keep constant communication via text messages and/or phone calls, but the first technician did not fixed the problem. I called the company an hour after the first technician left and another guy came to the house. He checked the unit and came down of my attic to quote me 650 dollars for a new circuit board. If want him to install the board on the same day, then I had to pay an extra 75 to 85 dollars. I declined the service. Later, I got a phone call from the first technician to apologize. I accepted his apology and explained him my concern on the excessive price for probably a generic circuit board. He offered me the option of having phone call with the distributor the next day to get a better price on the board. He or anyone from his company never called me back the next day. I ended up calling Xtreme Air Services. In Summary: these people charged me 69.99 dollars for a workaround that Xtreme did for 29.99 without replacing any part. I know I have to replace the entire unit, but I see quality in the other company specially when my old furnace still working 4 hours after they left! read more
