I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT 5 Star HVAC Contractors!! They are the best and what is most important, they are honest and trustworthy. You can rely on what they are telling you as the truth. PERIOD. Prices so beyond reasonable and the service level top notch. I would recommend to anyone. Your best bet and safest bet is to use 5 Star. THE BACK-story: Our upstairs AC unit was on its way out and we began the task of obtaining estimates from AC companies. Our first estimate from company X was an utter joke and the company reps were simply churning what we knew was wrong into things that were not wrong and did not need replacing, I later found out that this company pays its estimators on commission. NOT GOOD. A friend recommended 5 Star to us as they had used them for their furnace and AC unit as well. So I gave them a call and Mr. Jose Vargas gave us an estimate and looked over the estimate previously received finding that the proposed compressor from company X was not the correct unit and in fact was smaller than what was being replaced which would have lead to other problems with the downstairs unit. (SCARY) 5 star replaced our furnace and upstairs AC unit and the price was so reasonable. They arrived to do the work exactly at the time stated and all of the gentleman who worked on our installation were courteous and nice. Mr. Vargas took care of our problem and made sure everything was correct and even went as far as placing a thermostat cover back plate on the wall so I didn't have to touch-up paint !! He explained everything that was done and tried everything possible to get the unit right next to the downstairs unit and on the same slab but it just would not happen. He showed my husband and I photos and everything. From the first call to the day of installation was a period of 4 days. My last thought is simply this; if you DONT use Jose Vargas and 5 Star HVAC Contractors you are just stupid - because they are AWESOME!!!!!! read more

I went from 5 starts to one with this company. I initially called them because my furnace was blowing cold air. Their response time was excellent. The keep constant communication via text messages and/or phone calls, but the first technician did not fixed the problem. I called the company an hour after the first technician left and another guy came to the house. He checked the unit and came down of my attic to quote me 650 dollars for a new circuit board. If want him to install the board on the same day, then I had to pay an extra 75 to 85 dollars. I declined the service. Later, I got a phone call from the first technician to apologize. I accepted his apology and explained him my concern on the excessive price for probably a generic circuit board. He offered me the option of having phone call with the distributor the next day to get a better price on the board. He or anyone from his company never called me back the next day. I ended up calling Xtreme Air Services. In Summary: these people charged me 69.99 dollars for a workaround that Xtreme did for 29.99 without replacing any part. I know I have to replace the entire unit, but I see quality in the other company specially when my old furnace still working 4 hours after they left! read more

Our Ac went out the day of a big storm in Rowlett, TX and it was very hot and muggy even inside. I called 5 Star about 7pm and Troy was out by 8am diagnosing the problem, it was dead! He gave us a fair quote and followed up several times. We were waiting for a second opinion and quote from another company for comparison, but that company ghosted us after rescheduling twice. He wanted us to accept his over the phone quote and agree to payment without him even coming to our house and checking out the system. Ummm NO! We called 5 Star and Troy came out that night to answer our questions and explain the process to us. Troy did not try to upsell us more than we needed just to make more money and we really appreciated that. We went with the 16 seer instead of the 14 Troy recommended just because we were more comfortable with it. Two guys were out the next day and had the whole thing switched out and running in 4-5 hours. They were polite, quiet, ( I barely knew they were here) and cleaned up before they left. Troy called later to see how it was running. There was a slight 2 day glitch in getting the funds transferred between our banks for payment and 5 Star was understanding and patient about it. Their customer service is excellent and hopefully we won't be seeing them for a long time. Had service came out to look at condenser, said it was damaged and need to be replace, since it's an old unit we needed both unit inside and outside replaced. Giving me a 10k option unit, when researched, I can get a much better unit for a same price if not less! Luckily I got a second opinion from another place. Turns out the outside unit is still under warranty! This person did not bother to check! We ended up getting a free replacement, and only pay $850 labor. Watch out at all cause! read more

Our small 3 ton unit went out after 17 years. I work from home, so I was able to get as many quotes as I wanted. After nine quotes, I decided on 5 Star. They were not the cheapest; but were in the lower half of the quotes I received. I was not simply looking for the cheapest, but also good reviews and a good feeling about the people. read more

Now this is just my experience and everyone's experience is different. That being said, Billy came in and let us know that we had a faulty "kill switch" for our unit. So he replaced it and went on his way. Everything was until about an hour or two later when our unit was not working again. Billy stated that we needed some freon, so I'm thinking that was the issue. I called in a 2nd technician from another company and he let me know that there was nothing wrong with the "kill switch" (we were lucky that the old one was left behind) and proved it by testing it in front of my very eyes. He also proved that I was good on freon (also using his tool to show me). Source of the problem? My condensation line was blocked up. The 2nd tech took care of it literally within 10 minutes. So I am out the cost of the part (had a coupon for the service call) for the part that Billy said was "faulty". 5 star? Good thing they aren't running a hotel or else it would be roach infested. PSA: Make sure you request the previous part that they are "replacing" and have it tested if it really is broken/faulty by a third party. read more
