I ordered 2 of the 5 West burgers and a Americana pizza. The pizza was okay. The fries in both orders were unacceptable but since it was take out I wasn't going back to return them. They looked as if they were refried fries and tasted like nothing but grease (sadly they ended up in the trash) The burgers were fabulous as usual (I order them every time I go but usually get a salad instead of fries). It was one of those nights that we were out to dinner for necessity rather than pleasure. We had a. Family emergency and my two year old nephew is with us for the week. We came to get the kids out of the house. The staff didn't pickup on this and it was the worst service I have had in years! They sat the six of us at a long high top table in the back. We asked for a high chair and when we finally figured out the chair situation and sat we were told to get up. This is not your table this is reserved for a reservation you are a walking. So we got up and moved to where the waiter motioned for us to go. Which was in the middle of the restaurant where there was nothing setup for 6 and all the empty tables were dirty. Cute. We sit again but have to ask for menus again they thought we knew what we wanted. Nope. Ordered drinks and again it took so long we have 3 small children with us one who is two and been in a car all day. The food comes and it is good not great but hit the spot. Not one person apologized not one manager came by to offer a complimentary desert or something. Instead they were annoyed by us when it was all the staff that treated us so poorly. We have had take out from here and it is always good so This is disappointing. Our family has a home down here and I will be sure to share our experience so no one else has to have such a frustrating dinner . One thing you must get... the crab bisque. It's amazing; so full of crab flavor and chunks. Had the nachos as well and they're tasty and different; cheese whiz, onions and jalapeños. The crab cakes are yummy and full of crab meat. IMO the drinks are okay; little light on the alcohol for the price so the second time we went we both had iced tea; which was good. The lobster Mac and cheese was awesome; I got the regular Mac and cheese side and it paled in comparison therefore I would recommend going with fries instead. They're good. We found this place while on vacation in Cape away area. It was our second choice because all the places on the water have ridiculous waiting time. This place use to be really good. I ordered takeout for me an another person. We ordered a brick oven cooked margarita pizza, cheesesteak egg rolls, & the Buffalo chicken noodle soup. First off, the girl said 20 min and it'll be ready. I showed up in exactly 20min. Everything was cold, even the soup. Had to heat it all up. I had this place bookmarked for 6+ months. It's not near the beach and is about 4-5 miles outside but it's worth the drive. Their menu is America/pubish - apps (wings, sliders, nachos, etc), burgers, cheesesteaks, salads, entrees (lobster m&c, crab cakes, salmon, etc) brick oven pizza, beer, wine and mixed drinks. The bar area is small but there is a good amount of table seating. We went at around 1:30 on an weekday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The hostess was our server. 12 beers on tap, 15+ bottle selection and several wine options. We decided on just a sandwich each: Cuban Torta (roast pork, bacon, avocado, cheddar, mozz and habanero crema) for me AND The Rajun Cajun (replaced the burger w/grilled chicken, house slaw, swiss and Russian dressing) for the Mrs. The sandwiches were overstuffed! So much so 1 sandwich can be enough for 2 people. We boxed up half of each. Their fries were a bit over cooked but still enjoyable. They have an impressive happy hour selection. Ok so, my sister and I were in the area at Cape May Brewing and we wanted to grab a bite to eat before driving home. What to do? Of course, consult Yelp! Came here and was a little put off by the exterior of the building. It looks like a strip club meshed with an old wawa. However, once we stepped inside, we were truly impressed. This place has a very city like vibe inside. The hostess was polite and we were seated quickly. We ordered the Tots (#2 - with bacon, sour cream & whiz). For entrees --- holy cow. I opted for the chicken Gorgonzola pizza. It has buffalo sauce on it, also. I liked it but it was very cheesy. My sister got the pulled pork pizza. If I had to pick over again, I probably would've ordered the pulled pork pizza just because it was seriously heavenly. The restroom was clean and our waitress was very nice. This restaurant definitely has a pub atmosphere. Tons of people at the bar and it is definitely loud. Lots of TVs broadcasting different sports and one with the food network channel on, yay! The space is modern and clean with an open kitchen. The staff and service were fast and friendly. If you come on a Friday night, be ready to wait for a table for at least 20-30 mins. Our server was Heather and she did a fantastic job! Very attentive, fast, and friendly. This is what we had for dinner: Clam chowder - meh, the flavors were subtle and light. The soup wasn't piping hot. The little chunks of potato were not cooked through and there were tiny pieces of clams. Make sure you add a squeeze of lemon to the chowder to liven up the flavors. They didn't have Tabasco...what?! Crab nachos - I was skeptical about this dish, but boy was I wrong! The pieces of crab were fresh and sweet. The pepper mayo and wasabi cream sauce was flavorful and added the perfect amount of zing. Their nacho chips are fried in house and they were crisp and fresh w/ no funky fryer taste. YUM! Popeye pizza - I ordered this one bc of the reviews I read on yelp. It's definitely not robust in flavor, but I must admit that their pizza dough is legit. Flavorful, chewy, and crispy. I did squeeze some lemon all over the pizza which helped brighten up this dish. I would highly recommend adding shrimp or clams or some sort of meat onto this pizza. It's Lenten season so I opted for the straight up veggie version. Clams & macaroni - overall this pasta dish is good. Tons of garlic and a good amount of clams. A squeeze of lemon definitely does the trick in highlighting the sweetness of the clams. Side salad w house made balsamic vinaigrette - it was very overdressed which made it undesirable to eat. Make sure you get the dressing on the side. Overall, I would definitely come back to try their other dishes and pizzas. Their pizza crust was delicious and the service is fast. In the off season my husband and I try to to get to the restaurants we don't even attempt during the summer and The 5 West Pub has been on the list. I'm so glad we were able to get there last night! We were pleasantly surprised! There were a lot of cars in the lot and we were concerned with waiting. We put our names in and were told a 30 minute wait. We Expected it and decided to get a drink at the bar. We were able to get one seat , and the bartender came right over. She was friendly and got our drinks right away. In about 10 minutes, two seats opened together and we moved over and decided to eat at the bar instead of waiting. We started with souls and the homemade onion rings. I'm a sucker for homemade onion rings, these were delicious. Not greasy, just enough and a nice dipping sauce. I didn't try the soup by my husband liked it quite a bit. We both ordered burgers, which were cooked perfectly!!! I don't order burgers out much, but our bartender recommend them. The buns were good, and the burger was the perfect size. I hate eating a burger and everything falls out. Would definitely have one again, but will most likely have the crab cake tacos. These were the other recommendation. I did decide to try a dessert and went with the coconut cream pie! It's my favorite!! So when I see it on the menu.... I was told the pies are homemade and you could easily see by the slice and how it was prepared, they weren't kidding. This pie runs a close tie with the my favorite from a small diner in Maine!! Despite not being a huge fan of the sports bar atmosphere, I had eaten at 5 West on two occasions and enjoyed my food. Because of this, I decided to order their barbecue shrimp pizza for takeout. The description for the pizza is "house barbecue sauce, sauté shrimp, shredded mozzarella and cheddar." The pizza I received was basically inedible. Nevermind the fact that there was only one piece of shrimp on each slice. There was literally no barbecue sauce on the entire pizza - just cheese melted on dry crust with a piece of shrimp on top. The entire box was soaked in grease. It was actually so profuse that it started to form a pool around the pizza. Even after soaking as much as I could with a paper towel, the entire thing just tasted like grease. I am not picky; I usually deal with what I order from a restaurant. However, this was so gross I decided to ask for my money back. The hostess tried to explain that the pizza was "supposed to be that way" and that the non-existent barbecue sauce was purposely "light and buttery." They deliberated in the back over whether I could get a refund while the chef gave a death glare from the kitchen. Thankfully, they did give my money back. Nobody ever apologized for any of the number of things that was wrong with the order. I would have received better product and friendlier customer service from Dominos. Just saying. read more

And so much garlic in the spinach it was bitter. My daughter liked her Mac and cheese. And my other daughter seemed to like spaghetti and meatballs. They could easily add a few more tables to ease the wait time, but that's not my business. I had the flounder sandwich which was over breaded and fried. However, snd this is a big however.....the owner does not seem to be willing to pay for air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. I just left after they installed a new air conditioner and it is still 80 degrees! We were going to order some food until we saw the cook wipe his sweat , his entire face and neck with a kitchen towel put it down and went to straight cooking without washing his hands. So first off, the service was excellent. Stephanie is an amazing bartender and every server there is extremely professional and I have no qualms with any of them. The owner however, Jen, screamed at me tonight. She also threatened to rip my face off. Literally verbatim. The reason? Because I talked to her daughter in law in a very cordial way. She used to be like my sister since her mother dated my father. So I was checking up, asking about her life, and congratulating her on her marriage. It was about 45 seconds and a nice conversation. Then, I hear this faint voice to the side. "Keep your comments to yourself sir......keep your comments to yourself sir". I heard it but I didn't think she was talking to me. Finally on the third time, I looked over and to my surprise she was looking directly at me. So I said, "me?". "YEA YOU, STOP TALKING TO MY DAUGHTER IN LAW" Full on screaming at me I respond "What? Oh she was like my sister" Then she repeated that I can't talk to her and exclaimed how she didn't care and that she'd rip my face off! As loud as she could! The whole restaurant was looking and it was crazy. Shortly following this I heard her verbally abusing her lovely staff!! Until one left the service! I've loved five west for years, however I can't support a business that treats it's paying customers and employees like this. Just letting the people know. I don't care if you own businesses and are a successful person, if you think I should bow down to you, you are absolutely incorrect. I don't envy you, I feel bad for you. AS A NEW UPDATE. 5 West is our go to place in the neighborhood. Disappointed tonight. I ordered (among other things) a cup of crab bisque. My friend, J, ordered a bowl of the soup. I had lots of crab in mine and she had virtually none in hers. She was hungry and started to eat it. I brought it to our servers attention. She returned to our table after a while and pretty much said that's how it was ladled out. . I mentioned this to the hostess in the way out. She said she saw two empty bowls so what was the problem? They should have given my friend a loaded cup or somehow recognized this less than perfect serve. Very disappointed. read more

Great upscale style pub. We got the loaded fries, which were packed with layers of cheese and onions. Beware: I love heat but even I thought the jalapenos were intense after a few bites.
