OK, so we ordered the fish and chips and not a burger, but... Crispy fish with perfectly fried skinny fries. That said, most of the other customers were eating burgers. This is a pretty solid place. I had the Cottonwood burger. The burger had grilled onions, it they were cut too big and not as caramelized as I would have hoped. They also slid out the side of the burger taking some of the blue cheese with it. The fries were yum, but had a tad too much salt. My kids had food off the kids menu and shakes. They had a chocolate raspberry, but it didn't have chunks of raspberry. ???? I guess it was flavored with a syrup? The blueberry shake was decent and appeared to have chunks of blueberry. We ate here a few weeks ago. Normally we'd head to downtown Salida to eat, but it was raining, we were on our motorcycle and 50 Burger was right next door, so we gave it a go. Wow, were we surprised! Perhaps most important, the food was really good. My burger was excellent although cooked more well than medium as I had requested. The fries were good and my wife and daughter liked their salads. I have learned over my life that when a place is known for a particular thing, you should order that thing. 50 Burger reaffirmed that to me. I should've gotten a burger. The place is small but cute, staff were so friendly and kind. I saw the noodle bowls and had to try one, but I didn't enjoy it. I was expecting noodles with a bunch of stuff on top. Bulgogi is normally a delicious, salty/sweet marinated meat. The meat tasted fine but tasted nothing like bulgogi. There was a ton of bacon in it, which was ok, but not necessary (soggy bacon). And everything was swimming in broth. It was served in a to-go container, which I understand is not ideal and probably not their choice, but everything was just a soupy mess. They could package the broth and ramen in one container and the chicken/egg/etc in another. The burgers looked delicious. My kids enjoyed the hot dog and chicken tenders and fries. And the milkshake was also tasty, if not a bit pricey. I would absolutely return for a burger and beer! read more

Stopped here after a day of mountain biking in Salida. We were starving, and came to the correct place! I had the burger with bacon, bbq sauce and cheddar in a salad bowl (thank you, for creating that option!!) and the hubby had the Bonfire burger. We ordered some falafel to share and a chocolate raspberry shake. The bill came to $50, which is why I removed a star. Yes, we ordered a lot of food. However, we also felt the $13 burger price (plus upcharge for sweet potato fries), $6.50 shake, and $9 falafel were a bit on the high side. Anyway, we were a bit baffled by the setup of the place- you order the counter and they bring you the food. Ok, fine. But when I went to sign my credit card receipt, there was a suggested tip of 18-20%! At first I didn't understand why, but other than the ordering counter, this is a full-service restaurant. A server brought us the shake, the falafel out first as an app, and then the burgers. To me it still didn't warrant an 18-20% tip (maybe 15?), but it was more than I expected! All of our food was delicious, fresh, and cooked perfectly! While we didn't feel the lunch was worth $50, it was quite good, and we are glad we stopped in! read more

Came in about an hour before closing. Ordered a Bonfire Burger. When it came to the table, the thing was enormous! Luckily, all you have to do is smash down the bun and it all fits nicely. Overall, the taste was average, and I was expecting a better tasting burger for the price. The fried jalapeno, however, was really bad, as the texture was very mushy. Before we left, we wanted to get some shakes, but they said that their shake machine was torn down for the evening, even though they were still open for another half hour. That is just poor customer service. Overall, the burgers were okay but not worth the price tag. Just Great!! I find one of the best burgers I have ever eaten in a place 2 to 3 hours from home. Just my luck! Was driving down Hwy 50 in Salida looking for a place to eat and saw this place. Saw that the parking lot was crowded, and decided to try it. I had the Shavano. It was sloppy, gloppy, and I even got it on my glasses, but honestly - that was one of the BEST burgers that I ever ate!
