I emphasized that we couldn't be without our van for too long, and they assured us they would only need it for a day. When we dropped off the van at Marlin Motors the owner was oblivious to our previous conversations. Promises were made to promptly return our text messages, but instead they waited a day to reply with vague answers. Four days later, the mechanic they were contracting with for the warranty work was evasive and wouldn't even tell us if he had taken it for a test drive. With the warranty running out and Christmas at the end of the week, we decided to cut our losses and pick up our van. We'll get it repaired by a mechanic we trust. And we won't be buying another car from Marlin Motors.

I was charged $899 for the Banister Lifetime Warranty which is supposed to be no charge to customer 3. I showed an email and text showing $2500 over KBB for trade, they didn't honor it! None of this was honored, none. I didn't raise a stink because I thought I was getting a good deal yet I was actually told false information. Now, I know it was false and contacted them, to date no reply, nothing at all...crickets! I am highly disappointed in Banister. This is my fifth purchase from Banister, four from Chesapeake and one from Norfolk. This will be my last and will no longer recommend them.

This was my first time going to this location because my usual location (off Battlefield) was booked up for a few weeks. I now know why this location had so much availability - because their customer service sucks and they are scam artists. I scheduled an oil change... I arrive and they proceed to tell me that my total will be $140 when online it shows $94 (shown in picture). When questioned about it, they try to say that it's because of oil prices going up which is funny because oil prices have actually been going down. I showed them the price online and they still try to charge me $140. INSANE. You can't advertise a price and then charge someone $50 over that price because of "oil prices going up" - that's a joke. Then if I want a rental car, I have to pay for it. The other locations I've gone to provide complimentary rental cars. My car was dropped off at 10am and was not finished until 5:30pm for a simple oil change. I received absolutely no communication on when my vehicle would be done. I had to call them an hour before they closed to ask them when my car would be done and they didn't even answer my call - I received a text message shortly after I called with the response. To continue with trying to steal every penny they can from people, they let me know that if I pay with a credit card they will charge 3.5%. Again, never experienced this at the other locations I've been to both in Virginia and California. The service rep and manager were both incredibly rude. I will never come to this location ever again and plan to tell everyone I know about my experience.

No sugar coating here... they're definitely straight and to the point with you. A great group of guys. Parking is alongside the store on the street or there is parking directly behind the building. Be careful heading back on the main street... super busy area of Norfolk. They usually close at 6 during the week and a little earlier on Saturday...call ahead to verify. Wouldn't recommend. Only reason why they're getting a 2 star is because the salesman was okay. First the carfax price which brought me in was false(false advertising), 2nd they took 4 days to "service my car" after buying it already, never got a eta but never fixed the issue. Third the service they performed did my car worst. After getting my car I found that they 1-left one of my lugnuts stripped and didn't tell me about it,2- had my abs wire,just hanging it, just having there and rubbing off on my tire and 3rd which is the worst they had my brake line rubbing off on my tire as well. I could've ended up in crash or if the wires contacted anything it could've sparked something. 4th we had a written agreement where they would've fixed the issue and topped off all liquids but didn't do so. Never detailed the car as well. As a service member who doesn't make much and trusted this place , I wouldn't recommend and I'll be talking to navy legal about this. The area where they worked on was left worst,they didn't even touch what we agreed on. They want a 5 star so bad,label the car with their dealership name but sell almost a "lemon car" to anyone, also it wasn't reported on the carfax but there is visual proof that a tire blew and didn't inform me. This lot not only had the largest selection of cars, they were also very nice cars as far as the outside and inside appearance! We purchased our car from Chad whom was always kind, patient and knowledgeable about every car we asked about and test drove! This was the first time we have ever been to 518 Auto I highly recommend it. Everyone from sales to finance provided outstanding customer service. Jacob our amazing salesman was top notch. Very honest, I felt like I got a great price and a great vehicle. Very friendly staff and was in and out very quick. None of the sitting around for hours waiting to get into the finance office just to have someone try to up sell you on products you don't want. For me, every time I have come here has been an amazing, gracious experience. I was sold my car by the dapper C.J. Morris, who is a man that keeps things real. Each time I came in afterward he recognizes me and shakes my hand. Drivers World has a good policy of "price as marked" with no haggling, since their prices are already low. I don't know about that across the board, but my 2010 Hyundai Accent was a great deal. I have had two issue happen with my car since its purchase. The first was when my spare key came in from the Hyundai Mother Ship. We tried it out and it got stuck in the ignition! Samantha, in their service dept., immediately got me a rental and called a locksmith to look at it the next day. My car was fixed up that next day too, the locksmith had to re-cut part of the key. My second issue was when my car suddenly didn't start one day after work. I took a panicked trip in the tow truck to Drivers World where they got me a loaner car that night. They called me in the morning and told me it was the starter. I returned my loaner and they got me a rental; a few days later I picked up my car from Checkered Flag Hyundai. So far, everything has been covered and I always get treated nice there. I had a great buying experience and their awesome service has continued. Hopefully all my visits will be this good.

I didn't think much of it but my fiancé told me to get it checked out. I never did till it got really bad. One day I'm going on a lil trip with my car & my 2 yr old son was with me. So I'm on the interstate & my engine light just starts flashing & it wouldn't go no faster than 57 miles. I had to pull over on the interstate & turn on my hazard lights. I had to drive an hour & some minutes back home only going 57 miles on the interstate just so they could tow my car from home. Mind you, the day after they "claimed" they fixed it my car did the same exact thing not even 24hrs of me having it. Recently my car stopped on a stop light because it was over heated & smoking. Now you may be thinking "what could cause that" well my c-h cooling ruptured all over my engine so i didn't have any cooling on a 81 degree hot day. Now they're saying I'll have to get a whole new engine & this is only the second month I've had the car. The worst part about it all is, i don't even want the car anymore it's putting me into financial stress. It's been in the shop more times than I've driven it.

Bought my 4th Subaru from RK last night, there's a reason we keep going back. Nick Wilson, sales manager, was super patient with my indecisiveness, offering different finance and leasing options between different models and trims to get me to my goal of lowering my current car payment. In this situation most dealerships will do just about anything to simply get the deal done, however Nick spent time helping me select a trim most similar to the 2022 Forester Wilderness I was trading in, so I wouldn't lose too many features in the process of saving money on the car payment itself. Anyone else would have focused on just finding me a lower payment so I really appreciated the time he spent with me on this. The sales agents assisting me, David Fanning, John Conrad, and William Link were super helpful in helping me compare models and discussing utility and capabilities as well. These guys even took me out to see the car multiple times to check for included accessories, and determining what I would need to add as well! These guys did a great job helping me make decisions as I was trading in my full sized SUV for the more compact Crosstrek Sport. Their product knowledge really shined here in not just knowing Subaru's lineup, but what options and capabilities come with each model and trim level, and being able to cross compare them. It's also worth noting that I went into the dealership battling a multi-day long migraine, and it was super cool that everyone was considerate of that as well throughout the process! Additionally, lot attendant Rich did a GREAT job on the cleanup for the car as well, he's always SO thorough! And he's even helping me put my crossbars on! The only part of the process that was frustrating was the next day, today, I met with David Fanning to get my new 2024 Crosstrek Sport's windows tinted. My car was dropped off at the tint shop at 0830, RK doesn't open until 09 so this also speaks to these agents commitment to their customers as well. Around 0930, David gets a call from the tint shop that my car is ready to be picked up. At this point, David communicated that before we can pick up the car, some paperwork had to be signed by the sales manager and taken over to the admin office, in order for the tint shop to bill the dealership for the work. And this is what we waited on for almost an hour. It appeared that the manager was in a meeting with owner during this time. David attempted to pick up this paperwork during this meeting and was told to wait. No problem, I had brought my dog with me, we hung out. Around 10, John Conrad called down to the manager's office to inquire again about being by able to pickup this paperwork so I could pickup my car and go home, again was told to wait. This was really frustrating to wait when my car was already done, and all we needed was to be able to just grab 2 pieces of paper from the manager's office. At 1020, finally we called the tint shop, explained the situation and got permission to just come get the car, and submit the paperwork by end of day. I've purchased 4 Subarus from RK, they are genuinely the best dealership in general in Hampton Roads, which is why we continue to come back for vehicles, accessories, service, say hello. I highly recommend this business for their sales staff making the stressful process of buying a car simple!
