I went to 5th Tavern in Bloomfield tonight with my daughter, niece and sister. As an app, we ordered a flatbread. I told the waiter that the flatbread was under cooked and he looked at me and said nothing. I ordered the perch dinner and while the fish was good I was given a side of uncooked green beans and again the waiter just looked at me. If I were to go back, I would send back the unacceptable food items to be corrected. We were just having such a fun time, I didn't want to spoil it. read more

So this was my 1st visit as I was driving close by and was craving a steak. Stopped in and was seated in a booth right away. Our server (won't mention his name) was not very good because I had a question about some of the food on the menu and he said he didn't know, so I had to look it up on my phone while I was in mid order. He never once said I will check for you or ask. I ordered the 5oz filet with potatoes and asparagus. The steak was perfect and tasty. The au jus was excellent. The asparagus on the other hand were huge, tough and unflavorful. The potatoes were not seasoned, dry and not good at all. My friend had salmon that was covered in some sort of bbq sauce that tasted like ketchup and was covered in it. Gross. Totally killed the salmon. My daughter had the fish and chips that were burned and was small like a fish stick and got only 2 of them. When we received the bill, the waiter charged me for a larger steak. I told him I ordered the 5oz anf ge said oh but you got the larger one on your plate...how was I supposed to know when I wanted a 5oz??? With lots of other options in the area, I will not be back to eat there unfortunately. read more

I really wanted to give this place more stars, but it's a bit undeserving. I came in with my sister and babe for an early dinner prior to an event. The place wasn't too busy, but it still took a while to get seated. Once we were seated, it took another 15-20 minutes to get a high chair. It seemed like they were prepping for a dinner rush, but ignoring the few patrons that were already in there. There were plenty of waitstaff, but we were waiting for a while. This was annoying because we were on a bit of a time crunch and needed to eat quickly and leave. We ordered the calamari to start, which was good. I wish they had more actual calamari in the dish rather than artichokes and other vegetables to fill the plate. We also ordered a flatbread pizza and a kids meal. Both of them took a while to come out and we had no time to eat them. We boxed them up, paid the bill, and left. I'd probably come back to to try the Sunday Brunch. I've heard it was really good. As for my experience for an early dinner, it wasn't a good one. read more

Scary. Ordered carryout. My wife's scallops were full of some kind of white pebble. Looked kind of like the inside of a silica packet. She chipped her tooth and probably swallowed some. We don't know if eating it was dangerous for her or our 5 month old baby that she is breast feeding. We called to complain and get answers to our concerns, but the manager said they were too busy and refused to speak to us. Still no resolution or explanation of what the mystery pebbles were. Came here for lunch with colleagues. The inside is decorated nicely, modern, and plenty big. Probably one of the more nicer places on Telegraph in the Bloomfield Township area to eat. The place feels a bit elevated as well with the cloth napkins and how the wait staff are dress. However, lunch specials were about $9.00 for a soup and sandwich. I went with the tomato soup and LA Chicken Club. The soup was very good but I thought the "5" in pesto on top of the soup is a little cheesy. The sandwich was okay - but quickly fell apart. I also asked for a side of ranch because the sandwich was too dry for my liking. My meal was not bad for 9 bucks and I have hope that dinner entrees may be a bit better since what I ordered was a lunch special. read more

1st we started with their Steak Bits. They should be called Steak Chews. A crummy grade of meat! If you like your steak chewy, you might like. The 4 of us did not. Credit to the manager who took them away. Then came to our main dishes, served with a side of totally under cooked string beans. Just putting butter on warmed vegetables doesn't make it good. They (management)need to taste their own food. Not our first time there, but it will be a long while if we try them again. read more

We had met friends we hadn't seen in a few months and wanted to chat and catch up. We finally just left as we couldn't hear each other. The front seemed somewhat better. So I've been to this place twice for two different events. The room that they have set aside for the event room is nice and it is private (with its own door way and also an exit). The drinks are pretty decent. And it's nice for an intimate gathering. The vegetarian quesadillas that were set out as appetizers were good and the salsa was also appetizing. It is a nice venue to have a small gathering and the waitstaff is attentive. read more

I was in town for a wedding that Friday and was going to fly back to Arizona after a celebratory farewell breakfast to the bride and groom . 5th Tavern treated our party so nice . Service was great. Chicken Alfredo wonderful. Shrimp Tacos not so good. When I order Shrimp Tacos, I expect to see the shrimp at least 3 on each one. The shrimp was all chopped up and to be honest you could hardly see the pieces. The flavor was great! I was with a business client so I did not say anything to the server. Next time I visit, I definitely will ask before ordering. Restaurant is neat, front staff friendly, very busy at lunch, quite loud but ambience was good. I will return. read more

This food at fifth district is far in the way the worst food I've ever had in the world. I have traveled to the farthest ends of the earth Singapore China Korea Argentina Brazil and all throughout the contiguous US and I have never had food so horrible in my life. Further the management is disgusting, rude beings. The owner came over to me and did not even offer an explanation or even an apology about the most disgusting food I've ever had in my life and further the women's bathroom is unsanitary and is fire hazard which I'm going to report to the Bloomfield Hills fire department. This is the worst restaurant in the world. First timer.. Not sure why the bad reviews, my hubby and I both loved our entrees. I had the seafood linguine and he had the chicken marsala. We both choose the French onion soup. Honestly it was probably the best seafood linguine I can remember eating. I definitely want to go back and eat my way through the menu. Server was perfect. Went here before a show at Meadowbrook Amphitheater recently. It was on the way to the show, looked nice from the outside, so we decided to stop in. It was filling up due to parties, etc. The hostess gave a bit of a vibe that she was annoyed that we didn't have a reservation. She offered bar rail seating but I turned that down due to it not lending itself to conversation between the four of us. My husband asked about seating on the patio and why wasn't it open, but the hostess ignored his question. They did have a four top open which they gave to us. The server was friendly and efficient. I ordered a cocktail which sounded delicious. It was good except for it was very weak, I doubt it had much booze in it. I don't like to pay 12-15 bucks for a cocktail that is weak. Two of us ordered the lobster sandwich with tomato soup which they said was decent. One of us ordered the French Dip which I'm told was fabulous. I ordered the LA Club panini which had Turkey, bacon, avocado and cheese on it. It was served on ciabatta bread. Last time I checked, a panini is made with bread and pressed between two hot plates and comes out hot. The only thing that was warm was the Turkey and cheese inside. This was a great venue for our recent ladies night out! The night we were there, select wine bottles were 1/2 off. Even with splitting and sharing between 6 people, our server was great and our bills were correct. And the food was delicious! Love the ambiance here, however, each of the four times I've visited our servers have not been attentive (except for one guy that was our fellow patrons server)and also our appetizers have been cold. Two out of the four times we asked to have them sent back, to have it returned to us after being put in the MICROWAVE! Coconut shrimp and calamari microwaved is not what we paid for. When I asked her to remove it from the bill she said she couldn't because we ate 2 pieces of the shrimp and she could only give us a 10% discount. What in the world?! I have been here a couple of times, but this last visit was super impressive. I went here during the lunch rush on a Friday, and this place has it down cold. Before we got our order they gave us fresh bread that reminds me of Kruse & Muers, but not as oily. For my main course, I ordered a chicken philly for $9 and the chicken was super flavorful. The servers were very attentive and fast, which was impressive based on the amount of people there and the fact that a huge group walked in just before I did. I will be making a point of coming back here, and would recommend other do the same. read more

This place has really gone downhill. I dont know if they changed cooks or management but I've had my last meal from here. The only thing good about this place is the wine, crab cakes and the decor. I went in and was seated immediately...on a Sunday. That should tell you something right there. I ordered the crab cakes which came out fast, but then I noticed that the waitress didn't bring us plates or silverware. I had to get up and ask her to bring some...which took another 5 minutes because she went to do something else. We ordered our food which came out in a decent amount of time. I ordered the filet mignon, mashed potatoes and broccoli. My mom ordered salmon, asparagus and spinach and mushrooms. My steak was average and heavily charred on the outside, the mashed potatoes were okay and the broccoli was clearly frozen. My mom's salmon was dry, the asparagus was clearly frozen and the spinach was so salty that it was inedible. The waitress never checked on us after our food arrived. This place has so much potential. The decor is nice, the atmosphere is upscale-ish and the drinks are good...but the service and food SUCK! read more

Appalling, paying for cold food and a long strand of hair inside my waffle! On Mother's Day 2023, my relative treated me and my daughter to a Sunday Mother's Day brunch buffet style. At 1:30 p.m., it was very crowded; my relative and I went to the waffle station, and it appeared that the young woman was being trained to make the waffles. Another worker brought in more batter and poured it into the waffle iron. We went to the omelet station, and my son ordered an omelet, and I ordered a different omelet. They had the order mixed up; it's ok; the cook just made a new omelet for my relative. I was not too fond of not having a barrier to protect the food from patrons placing an order and talking over the ingredients. I went and sat down and ate a piece of my waffle while my relative was waiting on his remade omelet! I pull a long hair out of my mouth from the waffle, spit it out and summon a guy who appears to be the manager. I told him what was in my food, and he grabbed it and went away. I thought about this public health violation when I got home; why didn't the manager address this issue at the restaurant? My neighbor said they should have taken it off my bill. I will never return to the buffet again; the food was dumped in the food trays like garbage, mixing the pancakes with the sausage; that's crazy. My relative spent $200.00. The waitress needed to be more efficient; she didn't remember part of my daughter's order, and she gave me a horrible non-alcoholic beverage that tasted like NyQuil and didn't even remove it from the table; she was terrible. read more

Went here for the first time to celebrate our 22 anniversary. Food was great. Large portions. You will need a doggy bag. Seasoned perfectly. French onion soup husbands fave, good. He got walleye. Couldn't eat it all. My only disappointment, the calamari appetizer advertised as having artichokes, capers, tomatoes and lemon garlic sauce didn't have much but tomatoes. UPDATE... Gave this place two chances to redeem themselves. Case #1. I was here for a birthday celebration during the Woodward Cruise and half of the party was late due to traffic and the heavy rain. The manager came over and told us they wanted our empty chairs because there was a line outside. I understand they have a business to run but also, my friend paid to reserve those seats. She did not have a problem giving up the seats but she also wanted part of her money back. That's just fair... And they should have discussed with her, prior to the downpayment that in the event of guests being late, management has the right to ask for the seats to be used for another party. Case #2. I went back last week for dinner just because my friend was raving about the prime rib. Service is still very poor by the way - they got our orders wrong. Now back to the prime rib... Please refer to the photo available. It looked nothing like the photo on the menu and tasted oh so salty. I was told it was the last slice... Very disappointing. I should have been told earlier so I could pick something else. They took it off our bill asked me if I wanted to replace it with another item on the menu but we had to be somewhere so we left and I was still hungry. Awful experience! The food was wonderful. The service was awesome. The parking lot was full and we were a bit worried. But upon going in we didn't have to wait, which is always a plus. We thought about lowering to a four star for two reasons but realized we were being petty. The restaurant was a bit warm and the straws are annoyingly skinny. We started with the crab cakes and they were delicious! Our meals included a Turkey Rueben which wasn't on the menu but they have a regular Reuben and the rest of the ingredients that make up a Turkey Reuben which was really good. We also had the Seafood Linguini which was very tasty with a light sauce on it. Definitely will go back. read more

This is one of our favorite spots as a family. Their food is always amazing, fast, and portions are generous. The wait staff is always kind and quick. The atmosphere is welcoming for both kids and adults, without being too much of a "kid" restaurant. And don't even get me started in brunch. Yes, the price is a bit high, but it's a buffet of literally anything you could want - all hot and fresh. The eggs are cooked right in front of you and the fruit is always super fresh. My girlfriend had her bridal shower there and it was a smashing success. Everyone raved about the food and atmosphere, as the room was super private and perfect for games and toasts. There's something for everyone on the menu - even my picky vegetarian kids and meat-loving husband. I also highly suggest this place for work gatherings or just drinks. I was torn... Almost stars. The 5th Salad I ordered was quite good and worthy of 3 or 4 stars, but non-meat options are so limited here. I asked for it without chicken, which was fine, but there's not a bread basket offered, so a lettuce based salad for $12-$14 without even a piece of bread is a little steep. ( similar salad across the street at Panera for $7) Our party of four sat at a table.in the bar area because the wait was 15-20 minutes, even though the back room had all empty tables. (?). The bar is beautiful and well-stocked so we eked for a cocktail menu. Waitress said " the bartenders are working on that but if you name a cocktail, they can make it probably". They opened a tavern with top shelf bar but no cocktail menu??? Are you allergic to profits???? Never mind, we just ordered a lite beer and saved ourselves $5 each. The decor outside seems very modern, but the menu is not. Most things seem fried or sound heavy... Nothing exciting. You would feel cheated by the atmosphere if you ordered one of the $30 entrees... It's just too loud and brash inside for more than burgers and salads. read more

We visited 5th tavern on a weeknight for dinner after reading a few reviews on Yelp. The atmosphere is lively with a good size bar featuring various TVs and adequate seating. We came specifically for the steak served on a hot rock, which was excellent. We both had the New York strip which was 14 oz and very filling. Good marveling a clearly a very high quality piece of meat. I also had the chili which was surprisingly good, as I feel like most restaurant chili misses the mark, this one definitely did not. The service was decent, although we were left waiting for quite a while for our check to be ran. My only criticism from a food standpoint: the steak is excellent but some seasoning should be provided beyond just salt and pepper. Maybe some seasoned salt (like a truffle salt, not lawry's!) or some kind of rub that could be added to season it a bit. There are some steak sauces available - I definitely recommend the ginger sauce. Would recommend and would try again. Pretty much on par with Black Rock read more

The manager apparently thought it was appropriate to discipline the staff right in front of customers and proceeded to pace back and forth in front of us during our entire meal rolling her eyes and telling the staff to not stand around in groups. Not sure if the Lions won that game because I couldn't really see the screens from the bar... Poor choice in hanging light fixtures which block every view of a tv! read more

This place was a tad overwhelming when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. It was somewhat on us though, as we did not know they had a big brunch buffet that would be beyond crowded. I can't blame anyone, had I not had a huge breakfast already that day I would've jumped right in line. We were seated promptly, which I was impressed with since it was so crowded. I had a bloody mary (delicious) and the harvest wrap for my lunch. The harvest wrap was wonderful. The bleu cheese with the dried cherries and pecans, along with the copious amounts of chicken included made this a delicious meal. They served it with housemaid chips, which I was also a big fan of. They served it with ranch on the side, but that wasn't necessary due to all of the flavor already! The service was a tad lackluster, however given how crowded and mildly chaotic it was you can't complain about that. I will gladly come back, next time on a very empty stomach on a Sunday afternoon with the family. read more

Went to 5th tavern on New Year's eve of the eve with my family. We were seated in a booth by the window and unfortunately there was quite a draft and so it was a little chilly. Despite the warm looking deck or the restaurant was actually fairly cold. My mom said it reminded her of an upscale big boy, but she was just being rude because it was cold. It was more like the restaurant that used to be there before Mountain Jack's. I think any place with the Sunday promotionanl prime rib brunch situation is subject to more scrutiny. For appetizers we had the chicken satay, The calamari, and the crab and spinach and artichoke dip. My brother and father loved the calamari all gone. The artichoke dip was bare minimum bar food and it was served with what we're basically chip crumbs so we have to ask for more. My brothers of the chicken satay was very good and as you can see from the picture the presentation was very good as well. we all have the French onion soup and it was delicious. For entrées the hand battered Icelandic cod the shrimp scampi the Kobe beef burger and the swordfish. My mom said the cod was excellently battered. My father will eat a burger almost anywhere but he said the sun was pretty decent. My brother side the swordfish was dry, and my shrimp scampi tasted like nothing sauce with real big shrimp. Other than the soup everything was really average. It's a good place to go with a date if you're not trying to spend a ton of money and just want some basic food. Or if you don't that elevated of flavor expectations 5th Tavern will be just fine. Honorable mention goes to this really pretty wet salad my father had. And to our are server Yancey. read more
