If you have time to spare and plenty of time, like three to four hours of your Saturday, this is a nice spot for brunch - good food... but PLEASE read to the end!! I had the lamb chops which were tender and perfectly seasoned but really, really REALLY small - kind of pricey at $20 no sides. I also ordered catfish, potatoes and waffle a la carte. The catfish was cooked perfect with well seasoned breading that was cooked crisp on the outside and the fish cooked to perfection on the inside - nice size filet! The potatoes were tender but only seven chunks of potato, a whole lot of green peppers and onions - I wanted potatoes not peppers and onions all that was sitting in pool of oil, again like everything else seasoned well but too much oil, peppers on onions made it a waste of money. Finally the waffle was a typical waffle light and fluffy but nothing that stood out. Now the service... omg... S--L----O------W Given an hour wait time we thought that certainly couldn't be correct with all those empty tables and only two parties ahead of us I thought they were giving us worse case scenario... NOPE!!! Tables remained open and after an hour were like we HAVE to be called soon and we waited too long to leave right???? WRONG!!! That hour turned to two and my party and I were not pleased! Just glad everyone enjoyed their food! But I will not go back based on the wait alone!!! read more

Honestly the worst experience at a restaurant ever. Came in with a large party of 7. They said 4:45 minutes and made me a reservation for 10:30. All of that was fine came back at 10:30 and was told only 15 more minutes. Finally got sat a 11:20 after waiting over an hour and a half only to be told that the kitchen was backed up and there would be at least a 45 minute wait on food. Did the host tell us anything no! They let us wait an hour and a half with small children only to be sat finally and told that the food would be at least 45 minutes. At which time we left along with other guests who were seated who claimed they had already waited over and hour and received nothing. Terrible terrible terrible experience will never be back. This was an amazing brunch experience. The ambiance is very beautiful. Nice smooth rnb music. The food was DELICIOUS. I live in Atl so for me to say my food exceeded my expectations is a mouth full. Customer service was Top Tier. Jaden was my server at the bar. Her drinks are top notch and so is her personality. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner which is very nice and down to earth. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I'm just in town for work and can't wait to return. Give them a try you won't be disappointed. read more

My Hattiesburg Hash was very tasty and I enjoyed the leftovers a day or two later (lots of food!) Extremely disappointed, Trying to support a minority business .The seating was Not very convenient, had to sit with my back to the door as everyone who entered brushed their coat against me in the Narrow main Aisle, Look over and Your looking and can see whatever's in the person's mouth at the booth across from you not to mention the Loud conversation I didn't care to hear , Oh that was because it was more a club speaker environment the music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think that's why everybody was talking so loud. More importantly let's get down to the main business here the food was substandard it's exactly what I could have made at home the eggs were dry the French toast was dry with a lot of powder put on top of it the only thing that was good was the bacon I had and for the prices that they charge they need to charge way less there was also a hair found in my breakfast gas food now I've ate at some very nice restaurants they usually say especially because it's our first time there to make a good impression this one is on us can we remake it they didn't offer that and barely any kind of discount off of that meal which is very unsanitary it was suggested to me by a family member and I think the last time they went may have been when it was in the other location and I heard nice things about it but this was very disappointing and I didn't like the overall cavalier attitude of the manager all together so it's not a business I would promote or go back to thank you. We had an 11 AM reservation on a Sunday but weren't seated until 11:40, which made the reservation feel pretty pointless--especially since it didn't seem like those with reservations were being prioritized. I was sat promptly, attended to quickly, and assisted with my decision to try a new meal. I normally order the pancakes or shrimp and grits but decided on the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles today. I've been here multiple times and today is the first time I've had a positive service experience. I'm not sure if the owner has been reading the reviews or what but I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent service today - I was fully prepared to enjoy my food, which is consistently delicious, but with bad service and boy was I wrong - they've since added the element of providing maple waffle fries (which are a delight) while you wait for your food, which will definitely be good once you get it, but today it didn't take long for the food to arrive, which was also wonderful - glad to see this establishment making adjustments! read more

So I originally tried this a year ago when they opened and I am happy to say they have come a long way in terms of wait time, consistency etc. Right away I was greeted more than once which I appreciate the friendly welcomes. This time I tried the fried catfish and grits with a side of potatoes and grape drink. Catfish was delicious hot and fresh and seasoned well! My only thing I would change is they put a like sweet dusting on top which I personally don't think is needed. Its like a weird sweet & salty thing which I will just ask them not to add in the future. The grits were good; they are more creamier than I like but still good flavor. Came to this breakfast spot while on a trip to Cincinnati. It's a black owned establishment that offers a down south southern style breakfast menu like shrimp and grits, catfish and chicken and waffles. As you walk in the restaurant the vibes were fun and vibrant, r&b music playing and a beautiful mural on the wall. It's located on a strip mall so it's not that big but they do offer indoor seating. The food was sooo good!! I ordered the French toast and it comes with a side of cheese eggs, choice of bacon or sausage and cheesy grits. Yum!! The owners were in the back cooking and serving guests which was so awesome, great service. AND they even had merch for sale. I bought a really cute T-shirt. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, their food was delicious. They are only open from 6am-2pm and they are closed on Tuesdays. read more

Absolutely horrible! We had reservations at 12:15 and got there and seated about 12:05. We ended up leaving about 1:15 because we never received our food. Completely disorganized from what we could see. And hostess was awful. When we got seat there seemed to be confusion and looking at kitchen and orders they seemed to be confused. When we made decision to leave, hostess kind of smiled and said sorry. Nothing funny about waiting over an hour for food. And judging from some of the other guests that came in after us they also seemed to have been waiting over an hour for food. Just awful service all around and complete waste of our time. We have been trying to try food here and support black business but with this type of service it's hard to do that and I really don't know that I will come back. We are visiting Cincinnati and staying at an Airbnb in East Walnut Hills so this was an excellent choice for a local breakfast on Sunday morning. The restaurant is in an old bank building, it's a fascinating decor and we loved it. We were "early" (9 am) so I cannot comment on brunch, but my husband and I each enjoyed the Lafayette omelette with a side of delicious breakfast potatoes (which were simmered with onions and peppers). She gave us each a dollar bill but after getting home and researching it should have been two dollars back. if they are doing this to everyone they are making a lot of illegal money. This is a hidden gem in Kenwood. If you like southern food, add this to your list of places to try. It's more of a takeout place than a sit down place. There was a small crowd inside and everything is made to order so you may have to wait a little bit, but everyone I met there was very friendly. The conversations made the wait time seem shorter. I ordered the Jackson Stackin' Pancakes meal. Everything was delicious. From the thick cut bacon to the eggs to the potatoes with onions and peppers that were seasoned perfectly. And the pancakes were perfection. Big, fluffy and cooked just right so you get a whole lot of flavor and just a little bit of crunch in every bite.
