Wow! This was our first visit and I was so surprised! We went on a Sunday during lunch time. The service was amazing. We had everything we needed within a few minutes of asking. Our drinks and appetizers came out within 5 minutes of ordering. We had the garlic fries which were amazing, the beer was great. Then we ordered our entree's and both got chicken fried steak. Their gravy has green chilies in it and I wasn't sure how that taste would work out but it was amazing! I had the mashed potatoes and my husband had the grits. I'm amazed. I got the fillet mignon with mash potatoes and roasted veggies. Only one veggie and it was turnips. A bunch of beige on the plate. One or two turnips are fine but a whole side of them on a $33 plate. Not many people were there. We waited around at the front, until we were finally acknowledged and told to sit anywhere. (Seems to be a common thing that people experience.) it took forever for someone to bring us menus, then to come back to take our orders, then FOREVER to finally get our drinks. If you're picky about your soda, don't order one here. I got a Diet Coke, but it tasted super weird. I checked with the server to see if they carried Coca-Cola brands, and she said yes, but that because they used a soda gun at the bar, all the sodas got mixed up. The sweet tea that my husband and brother ordered was not sweet, and they had to search for sugar packets at other tables. I also ordered a Moe's IPA, and I had to ask for my beer several times. I'm pretty sure they brought me the wrong beer because what I had definitely was not an IPA. My brother and husband ordered the chicken fried steak and shared fried pickles. I ordered chicken fried chicken. They said the fried pickles and ranch dressing were delicious. The food comes out and there is gravy all over my chicken. (The menu said that the steak had gravy, but did not say that about the chicken.) I tried scraping the gravy off as best as I could, but it ruined the food. If I had known, I would have asked for it without gravy. The steak was decent and the guys who like gravy said it was very good. The garlic fries were cold and soggy. Overall, the service was very slow and the server was very nosy as to why I sent my drink back and didn't eat my food. The beer was really good. I really enjoyed the ginger beer! I'm giving a 3 star for the beer and fries. I ordered the fish and chip meal, which is supposedly flounder, but upon receiving it, it was the texture of cod fish. I'm from Venice, La and literally grew up on fish. To pass this off as flounder was disappointing. The beer batter was true to taste however. My husband had the Gorgonzola chicken sandwich. He said it was okay. All in all, it was a pretty nice, laid back beer spot. *we dined indoors. The workers do not adhere to the mask policy AT ALL!!!! We had a really bad experience here. We've been before, enjoyed the food even though the service bordered on slow. Tonight, service was horrible. We got there at 6:15, place was about half full. Waited 20 min for water. Finally, the bartender came over and offered to take an appetizer order. We had the appetizer before our server came tho take our order, around 6:50. As we waited, other parties were seated, ordered and got their food. Our server came by periodically to tell us she was checking on our food. The service here sucked. We waited 15 minutes at the bar for someone to notice us. They weren't busy AT ALL. There were maybe 6 people being served at the bar and the bartenders were all too busy carrying on conversations to look around and notice there were people who hadn't been waited on. Once our drinks arrived, we never saw the bartender again. We had to walk around to find a bartender to close us out because again, they were all too busy talking to notice anything else. An unfortunate lunch this time around. Rob, our server, forgot to push send on the POS register so our entrée never made it back to the kitchen. Ended up being a 2-hour lunch. Not ideal as we were taking Mom out for her 85th Birthday. Certainly some good, but several missteps they need to work on their systems and processes for service. Bloody Mary's to start we're tasty. Apps we had the crab cakes and pretzel. Both excellent especially the pretzel. After a bit we got the soups, though tasty they weren't very hot. Thinking they sat back there awhile. Since there were only 5 other tables in there and Rob only had one other table I could see Mom was getting antsy as our food was taking quite a long time. We'd seen a couple tables get their food that had arrived some time after us. Mom flagged Rob to go check. The owner came out to apologize and reported that Rob had failed to press Send so the food would be another 6-8 minutes. Mom's shrimp n grits was great and my fish n chips was ok. Took another 3 mins for son to get his burger, they forgot the cheese and salt. Wife's Rueben came 4 mins after that (mom and I were finished with ours) and was a delicious sandwich. My father and I came in for dinner and to sample beers on a Friday night. The restaurant was short staffed and also experiencing technical difficulties and delays with electronic payment processing of cars payments. We were notified of both issues. However this is not impact our visit. Waitresses and staff were very friendly and attentive. Service was prompt and food came out pretty quickly. The food and in house craft beers were better than expected. I had the salmon asparagus and rice paired with chicken gumbo soup. Both very flavorful the cook and seasonings were terrific We both enjoyed all 4 beers sampled. And they matched the descriptions. My dad has shrimp Alfredo pasta and chowder soup. Both soups and salmon were my favorite. All items reasonable priced for the times. The waitress I believe Maddie great job and manager Travis nailed it. We will for sure come back. This place is one of the worst places I've ever been to when It comes to toxicity in the work environment , I actually worked here for a while the owner is a cool guy and 2 of the kitchen staff at the time were cool and most of the waitresses except 1. I was mistreated a lot here by the staff I didn't mention, when I would wash dishes I'd get asked to do something totally different and when I would come back the kitchen staff would chew me out for not working on dishes because I was asked to help with something else, I also had health problems that were preventing me from working some days and they wanted to get on my ass and shit talk me while I wasn't around, like I can control it or something, but the worst part was the bitchy dyed-red haired waitress, absolute banshee of a woman always had an attitude was very mean and didn't care about how other people felt or were affected by her attitudes and made bullshit excuses to try and get away with it. I've been to 602 a few times but tonight sucked. Our waitress had a frown on her face the whole time and it took forever to get our first drinks - a draft beer and a glass of wine. When our food came we ordered second drinks and finished our food before they came. I tried to wave our waitress over to get the check and she had been wiping down menus for 5 minutes, she saw me wave to her to come over and she ignored me and looked down. I had to ask a busser for our check and the busser apologized and said the bar was backed up. It wasn't that busy and there were 2 bartenders. They have perhaps the best front flavored beers I have ever had. Even if you hate beer... try theirs and it might just change your mind. Prices are fair and the plates were enough food to make you happy instead of having to leave a ton of food at the table because you can't finish it. The owner also comes around and checks in. Seems to be popular without too much of a wait. We ordered the pretzel as an appetizer. That was pretty good but the beer cheese was cold. I also ordered a Bloody Mary and it was pretty good. There were quite a few people working there/ work there and were just hanging out chatting at the bar while more patrons came in and stood around waiting to be greeted. We both got the 602 burger. It was cooked well, but majorly lacked any flavor. Overall, we were pretty bummed. Other than our waitress, it seemed like none of the other staff cared to help anyone. The bartender may have been having a bad day because she clearly didn't want to be there. She didn't smile once and was very short with anyone that asked her a question. Now I understand why others have posted in yelp that they were frustrated with the service. COVID. Only the two waitresses wore masks. No one else that worked there wore masks. My first impression was a little dive on Main Street with a bar attached. Waking in, however, looked like a fancy bistro with an old style 1800s bar. I was amazed. The food was incredible. I had the pork chop and was caught off guard when I was asked how I would like it cooked. I always thought it was Well Done, or go home, but a medium well pork chop of that thickness was great and juicy. My partner got the shrimp and grits and I though he was going to start licking the plate when he was done. It brought a tear to his eye. The rotating selection on the tap bar is always full of surprises. I was actually surprised to find a porter that I knew and enjoyed. I'm not a big drinker so this was a treat for me. read more
