I am not from Chicago so I don't have a good baseline of dtown convenience stores. This store is situated smack in the middle of a few nice, luxury hotels. I was a little surprised with the stores atmosphere. All around the entrance were very intersection characters. So interesting, that I almost turned around. But, I avoided eye contact and solider through. Inside was what you would expect from a 711. It was a little busy and chaotic, but nothing unusual. The attendee was pleasant. As I was leaving the store, one of the interesting folk throw and shattered a glass bottle for no apparent reason. I would recommend limiting your visits to this establishment to daytime hrs. read more

This is a really good store. They are always well staffed and well stocked and the employees are friendly and they are really intentional about getting you out the door, especially in the morning rush hour. I visit the store probably about 3 to 4 times out the week and I've never had a bad experience. read more

Walked in at 6/23 at around 7pm and took a hot dog which was stated as 1/8lb and price listed is $1.89. At payment, cashier said this is different and is $2.99, but could not explain what is the actual difference from the 1/8 lb hot dog which was stated in the menu. In addition, as there was no price tag for a 1 gallon water, I inquired with the cashier who stated it is $4. Upon payment, cashier wanted to charge $5. Well, thanks but no thanks. CVS next door sells 1 gallon water at half price at $2.19 and the staff was friendly and honest. Skip this 7 eleven store. You can do much better elsewhere. read more

Definitely an okay 7-11 that's a little less skeevy than the one on State Street just across the river. This one was relatively clean and even though there was a huge line, the cashiers moved quickly to take care of the customers. If you need a snack or a drink....or even some boxed wine...this isn't a bad place. read more

I didn't appreciate that I walk in at 4:28ish and this man instantly had an attitude with me at the counter all because I asked about the alcohol and showed my id to verify . His response was "ok go get it" while he was completely focused on his phone completely bothered with me. Then when I came back he tells me with an attitude still talking loudly on his phone and says "pull it out now so I can scan it I told you this before" this was never said to me . I said that back to him and he said "I'm doing you a favor I don't have to do this" and all I said was sir I'm just here to get my transaction done and the response was him just going off even after I finished my transaction id appreciate if this was something addressed better and not needed to be yelled at or told to me like I am your kid or parent. This is a pretty a much your average 7-11 that doesn't really distinguish itself in anyway. The offerings in terms of snacks and drinks are typical of any 7-11 that I have previously visited. It does lack in a few aspects. It's pre-made cold and ready to eat hot selections are a bit lacking. I recently had a somewhat negative experience. I purchased two slices of pizza and a Pepsi plus a small bag of Doritos. I got the pizza and Pepsi because the combo was on sale for $3.00. When I was checking out, I scanned my rewards code from the 7-11 app on my phone, but when the cashier rang me up the total was over $8.00 which did not make sense with the deal I was supposed to get. I asked the cashier why the price was so high, and she pointed out to me that I need to click on a screen that I did not want to use my rewards to get money off the transaction. Everything was fine up to this point. As I pressed the screen to indicate I did not want to use my reward points for money off the purchase, the cashier shouted that I was "hooting and holler'n" that I didn't get the deal I wanted. I quietly apologized, and stated I was only trying to clarify the transaction, but it didn't stop there. The cashier then turned to another customer in line and again stated that I was "hooting and holler'n". I again quietly apologize. I did the $3.00 deal on my pizza and Pepsi. I, however, feel that the cashier was a bit out of line. This 7-11 is currently close to where I work. Hence, I will come back here, but avoid this location if you can as the selection of pre-made food is limited, there is nothing special about that it and staff can be rude. read more

I just needed couple of items so I had ran into this convenient store on Michigan and Wacker, which is very convenient. The store is very well planned out with various items such as groceries, cold items and snacks. Prices are reasonable for being in this prime location. The only negative about the experience was the cashier complaining about an Asian customer had laid his money on the counter instead of handing it to her. She was saying how rude this was in front of him. She kept saying things like this must change in the new year to a co-worker. Welcome to working with the public - maybe she needs a customer service training course. Again, convenient location but watch out for customer service. read more

This 7 Eleven is awesome! It's stocked with goodies! Definitely the best I've seen, and I've seen many! Maybe it's stocked because of its location, that's heavily packed with tourists. It sits right across from Chicago River, and right behind Harold Washington College campus. If you aren't familiar with the 7 Eleven logo, you'll walk right pass this store; to me the building looks like a bank, but if you look closely you'll see the 7 Eleven goodies in the inside. And like the 7 Eleven that's less than 100 meters away on Lake St; it sells alcohol also. read more

The cashier was lolligagging and insisted on continuing small talk with the customer in front of us who clearly was just trying to purchase his goods and leave. He insisted the customer did not really talk like that and was pretending to speak professionally? We were in a rush and there was a line behind us as well so my friend said hey we are actually in a rush if you don't mind. The customer in front of us left immediately as he clearly didn't want to continue talking with this guy. The cashier immediately became not just rude but even threatening to my friend telling him I'll take as long as I want and alluding towards making it a bigger problem. I backed up my friend and said look it's not personal we are just really running behind. He didn't care about customers in the slightest and if I was a weaker person I would go as far as to say a lot of other people in this same position as us would truly not feel safe due to how instantly he flipped and how menacing he attempted to come across. Really not okay. Please do better 7/11. read more

I've been in the past and it had ok service, but the last time I went was the worst. I ordered a large pizza and they said it would only take a couple of minutes. 20 minutes pass and I ask if the pizza is done, and they haven't even started making it yet. Even worse, the cashier gives attitude and doesn't even apologize for his mistake. This 7-11 has bad customer service and is definitely not worthy of a 4.5/5 Yelp average. read more

I never find it when I'm grabbing lunch but today I was pleasantly surprised. They also carry SoBe Life Water, which I am obsessed with, and yet again is practically impossible to find. This may seem a bit off but honestly this 7-eleven was uniquely special. Seemed to have a higher quality of products, wines and specialty items. Of course it had the usual crappy hot dogs etc. but also had a different vibe. As travelers staying at the Monaco Hotel, this store was convenient (hahahhaha). A great place to pick up items so we could stay bundled in the hotel during the crazy blizzard in Febrauary 2011. Hub met the owner and found him to be engaging and proud of his business. I first got lunch here when I was pinched for time and couldn't do a 15-minute wait at Potbelly. Turned out to be a pretty good thing. The sandwiches here are fast, fresh, and believe it or not, made to order. What's even better is that you can customize and pay for your order via touchscreen computer. Huzzah for minimal human interaction! One day at work, a trixie in my regular lunch group claimed she could tell the difference between all the different brands of bottled water. I was the person in charge of conducting the test and buying the water, so I thought it appropriate that one of the bottles should contain beer and not water. Luckily, this 7-Eleven sells not only all the fancy bottled water brands but also a variety of beers. Doing my shopping over lunch, I grabbed a 22 oz. bottle of Fat Tire from the refrigerated section and headed towards the checkout when my company's HR manager walked into the store. I fumbled with the bottle and practically threw it on the nearest display shelf, which I think was stocked with tampons or some other item I had no business shopping for on my lunch break. The HR manager came up and said hello, and while she didn't say anything, I'm pretty sure there's a note in my file from that job that says, "buys beer and tampons on lunch break. Unfit for management positions". *The trixie correctly identified, via blind taste test, all four different kinds of bottled water. WTF. The terrorists have won. read more

It says in here open 24/7 google says and their app says it but when it is raining they close. I had to be to work at 5am all this week and this one is on the way to work. So I wanted to get coffee because work has really bad coffee. Sunday and Monday I came in between 4-4:30 and they were open. Tuesday and Wednesday at that time they were closed. The only difference is that it was raining. Now I understand that people need to take breaks and all that but at least put a note on the door or something. It will be interesting to see if they are open tomorrow morning between 4-4:30 when it's not raining but too late I will never go back to this location I will go to the one up the street. read more
