As always, my experience is mostly gonna start with the service. I called ahead of our reservation and ordered a few bottles for the table and some food for me and my spouse. Our server was awesome and I feel so bad because my table was kind of the worst. Wine service - everything could have been fine but my cousin messed that up by demanding to try every bottle immediately. Then she decided she didn't like any of them. The rest of us drank up! For the appetizer we had the wings. They were perfect. We were all feelin the buffalo sauce they served on the side. Just order a few for the table to avoid fights. Next up we had main courses. One of my friends ordered a burger. He said it was fine. Two of my friends ordered the seafood manicotti. They seemed to enjoy it a lot. Two of us had the short ribs. They were way too salty and ended up being sent back. Our server made it right. And then the birthday boy had the "surf n turf" plate...The steak was so tender and juicy. The crab was delicate and slightly sweet. I could have died a happy man at first bite. However, the birthday boy did not. Maybe he could have if five vultures let him enjoy his food in peace. Maybe. But I guess we'll never know. ‍ For dessert I was (you guessed it) buzzed. I ordered the the panna cotta, which I practically inhaled. I think there was some kinda birthday candle situation. The place itself was very cute and nice, and I disagree with other reviews stating the staff was bad, because in my experience they were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I did not like anything about my meal. I got the Calamari for an appetizer and all I could taste was breading. I couldn't really even taste what was inside but I assume it was calamari since that's what I ordered. For my main dish I got the 8oz filet and ordered it Medium Rare. Truthfully I should have returned the steak because it was much closer to medium well. There was a little pink in the middle but mostly it was cooked all the way through losing all flavor. It's a shame because the price point here is very high so I was expecting them to know how to properly cook a steak. I would stop by for a drink in the future, but I certainly won't be eating here again. read more

740 Front is definitely a hidden gem in plain sight, and how lucky we were that we came upon it because the wait at our tried-and-true brunch place was too long! Determined that there is more than one game in town when it comes to the brunch scene in Louisville, we found 740 Front to have many available tables and thus, no wait. We were shown promptly to a table in the room near the kitchen and our order was taken in a timely manner. I ordered the 740 Benedict, which came with corned beef and perfectly poached eggs. This comes highly recommended by yours truly, as long as you're into the salty goodness of corned beef mixed with creamy, gooey egg yolk smothered in hollandaise sauce. My husband ordered the miner sausage skillet scramble, which had fennel pork sausage and all the melted pepper jack cheese his heart desired. It was way heartier and filling that it appeared. Our only critique was that the lattes were 6 ounces at most and made from what tasted like burnt beans. It was the smallest latte over $4 that I've ever seen. Maybe next time we'll stop by Moxie Bread for lattes before heading over here for a solid brunch. read more

Came here for Denver Restaurant Week with a friend. We chose this restaurant because it surprisingly has many gluten free options! Also note, need to come back with a date, because the environment is oh so romantic! The low candle lights, the old classic, cozy house feels. And the food - absolutely incredible. Started with bread and garlic butter...that garlic butter YUM. Just give me a plate of that. For apps, we had the hot spinach and cheese dip. Not bad but wish there was more than just tortilla chips to dip in it. Some veggies would be nice. Apps followed by a house salad. The butter lettuce was an interesting choice, but paired with their house vinaigrette, definitely complimented nicely. Now this main course...the reason we chose this restaurant. Filet mignon AND crab legs. Surf and turf, in Colorado? Well of course I'm in! The steak was seasoned heavily but OH so tasty. The crab legs were a decent sized portion, dipped in delicious melted butter. I'm seeing a butter theme here...no wonder everything is so delicious... Only taking off a star because service was pretty awful. We were seated in the upstairs room with maybe ten tables. Yes they were full but there were two serves for this one room, yet we got neglected. Maybe because we were getting a deal with Denver Restaurant Week. But shouldn't you want to impress so people come back? Because with regular menu prices ($$$$) and slow service... can't say I'll be back but I'll just dream of that one meal! read more

It depends on what you order. One person in our group ordered the grouper and he really enjoyed that. There was no starch offered with that so he ordered a side of mashed potatoes. I wanted that dish also but requested a rice side which was not on the menu. That was a no go so I ordered the scallops & shrimp dinner. It was okay but I really wouldn't recommend it as the shrimp was overcooked. Overall an okay meal, not great. read more

Covid-19 curbside pickup. They have changed the menu since I went a week ago, but still offer a burger option (and added a chicken sandwich). They have individual and family servings but it's overall a little on the fancy side (dungeness crab, steak). If you like meat, 740 Front is your place with an impressive selection for takeout, from cryovac ground beef to bison and Wagyu cuts. They also have a very decent drink menu, with craft cocktails and tap beer to go. My Sunfire cocktail, with vodka, blood orange, rosemary, lime and soda was wonderful. Note that they serve the drinks in a mason jar and charge $1 for it; you'll have to trade it back to get another drink without the extra fee. I personally don't like it as I don't think it's the best idea when trying to avoid spreading the virus plus it adds an extra dollar to your drink unless you go back for more. That being said, 740 Front is another good takeout option in Louisville. read more

I had been to this building when it was the Louisville Inn but not since it was redone and opened as 740 Front. The inside is real nice with a warm and welcoming feel to it. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated on the patio which is small but offers a good view of the statue of John Breaux, a local favorite who was killed while riding his bike. I ordered the shrimp po boy with fries and my friend ordered the Rueben and fries. The food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner and looked to be a good portion. The shrimp po boy was just ok, there was plenty of shrimp but lacking good flavor. My friend offered a taste of her Rueben and that was delicious. The fries were too salty for my taste but they were plentiful. Our waitress was very pleasant and engaging but not once did she offer to refill our waters or my friends coke. The place is nice, the food was average, the portions were ample and the service was spotty. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but I wouldn't avoid returning either. read more

I decided to come here on a Friday. First I will say the food is pricey but for that kind of steak and the different options, it's worth it. As for the crab, I would pass next time. It wasn't cleaned well and definitely not fresh 1/2 dozen oysters for 20$ was okay, I'm from the Bay Area so the competition was high to start. The reason for the 4 stars though was solely because of the owner or the manager I'm not sure who exactly he was, but we had ordered crime brûlée , and he gave it to us on the house bc he notice I didn't eat all the crab legs :/ . I went to 740 Front for a restaurant week special with a group. For $34 you received choice of appetizer or dessert, salad, and entree. No substitutions were allowed. Trying to decide at the beginning of a meal whether to order an appetizer or hold out for dessert is almost kind of rude. The dessert choices were rather underwhelming. There were three of them from which to choose. I usually find panna cotta to be rather bland. I considered the cherry pie with ice cream a rather pedestrian choice. And, the creme brulee, which normally would have been my go-to, was tainted by making it a "pumpkin pie" offering. I elected for the Caprese appetizer. This was "slow roasted Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, basil, extra virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar". In reality it was three smally, mushy, overdressed bites. It tasted fair. I did sample the Calamari (tempura style fried tender calamari and lemon with a creamy Caesar dipping sauce) ordered by another diner, and it was not bad. I opted for the Caesar Salad (fresh romaine, house made Caesar dressing, garlic croutons, and Grana cheese), and it was just okay. Most of my table went with the ribeye, but I was in the mood for surf and turf. I chose the Wild Gulf Shrimp and Steak Skewer (gulf shrimp wrapped in smoked pancetta and marinated CAB steak tips skewered and grilled, served over arugula and Tuscan beans dressed with balsamic vinegar). This was, once again, just okay. The shrimp were overcooked. The steak was not bad. The bed of greens did not really complement the proteins in an particular fashion. I have sensitivities to many foods. Our waitperson,Jack, was super patient with me. He tried hard to accommodate my restricted requested diet. When it came to ordering my entree there was only one choice for my early dinner-a baked potato! Unfortunately the kitchen staff had not starting baking the potatoes . My friends were served their dinners. I was sad. Suddenly there appeared a perfect baked potato with butter on the side. Seriously Jack needs a raise or at least throw him a fun party. We had the most delightful evening at 740 Front. Bethany was an entertaining and wonderful server. She knew the menu backwards and forwards, and kept us laughing throughout the evening. The short rib was absolutely amazing. Next time, I'll have the bison ribeye. The only thing that would make this restaurant better would be to have bread pudding on the dessert menu. It seems like the type of place that would have an amazing bread pudding. I'll come back for sure, but if they add bread pudding I'll come back more often! read more

We ate here a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night and had an enjoyable dinner. The artichoke appetizer was fantastic! The oysters were fresh and tasty. I suggest you get the "prime" strip which was excellent per my family members. I had the ribeye which tasted good and was properly cooked but was on the tough side. The asparagus side dish was 8 spears. The french fries, however, would easily serve two. Service was very good and timed properly. Martinis are served half in the glass and the other half in a small carafe on ice. Great way to keep the drink cold! I made the reservation on Thursday for Friday night and had a choice of times. Really disappointed with 740 Front. The service (or lack thereof) soured the whole experience. Our waitress was inattentive and we waited 15+ minutes between every "stage" of the meal (sitting down, getting drinks, taking our order, paying the bill) with zero check-ins. We asked her to tell us about the menu/specials and she gave us a blank look and said "it's a steakhouse." Needless to say she didn't ask us how anything tasted or offer any kind of appreciation for coming in. I was looking forward to trying their desserts but we waited so long after they cleared our dinner plates to see the dessert menu that I was too frustrated to stay any longer. My husband and I ended up going to Whole Foods after to grab dessert, where the staff was 100 times friendlier than our waitress. I expected much more from this place and will not be back. read more

Just celebrated our anniversary here an have to chalk it up as a find! We chose to share a Caesar salad to start, which was tasty, although the croutons were a bit large to handle. My small filet mignon was delicious, ($42), definitely aged, and cooked perfectly to medium rare. My husband's 14 oz ribeye was also perfectly cooked, boneless, and delicious. The mushroom side was ample, served in a small cast iron fry pan, and really good. The mashed potatoes were on the cool side, however, and a bit pasty for my taste. The dessert menu seemed uninspired...we tried the double layer brownie which was too large, too chocolaty, and nothing to be excited about. A la mode gave us 2 very small scoops of ice cream to cut the chocolate with. A bottle of Spanish wine was moderately priced,btw, and very good! Forgot to mention the novel cocktail presentation! The stem glass was only half full, with the remainder of the drink served in a small decanter placed in a bowl of ice. Perfect for dim lighting and potential clumsiness! Daniella provided great service in the lower dining room. However, the available lighting back in the corner was not adequate doe our 70+ years old eyes! We would have much preferred seating in the upper levels. The antique bar is gorgeous, and the historical write up on the menu is very interesting. In search of a place for a Happy Hour with great finger food options and a flavor of Louisville. In checking reviews and reading about it being the 3rd oldest bar in Colorado that was moved from Leadville. One of the three original saloons in Louisville with an ornately carved bar, great seating and friendly, helpful bartenders. In search of the house old fashion to see if it is acceptable as I am a fan of Southern Comfort Old Fashion. While ok not the same and saddened there wasn't Southern Comfort available. Our first shareable food was roasted artichokes with a dipping sauce, while not needed it was exquisite. We enjoyed it so much that after eating garlic fries we ordered them again. Moved on to the house speciality which as a bit tart to my tastebuds but tolerable. Our bartender Forrest, a local resident who grew up in Louisville was exceptionally helpful in making suggestions and recommendations. Another old fashion with a local spirit recommended by Forest that was great. Cool place, great history in the building and the bar. The most incredible bar amazing best BG transported by horse and buggy from way in the other side of the mountain. So all of that to say this place is pretty amazing, but our experience wasn't that great. Our server was a bit odd and tried to remember our order without writing it down and messed up multiple times. Brought us an app that was raw beef vs a buffalo salad. Capris vs carpaccio. The entire experience was just a bit weird. So booked on Open Table and sit id downstairs. We maybe back and give it another shot. read more

It was time again to celebrate our friends and our Wedding Anniversaries and we decided to try 740 Front...spoiler alert: it was GREAT! The first thing we noticed upon entering the restaurant was just how beautiful it was, they really put a lot of work into the place and it shows! We were greeted by a very nice hostess that showed us to our table. The waiter came by a few minutes later and introduced himself and asked if we were celebrating anything special this evening, we told him it was our friends 18th anniversary, and our 29th. He took our drink orders and returned with them very quickly. I loved the fact that the young man with the water always kept or glasses full. When the owner found out it was a celebration, he personally came over to introduce himself and to wish us well. For appetizers we ordered: - 740 Hot Cheese Dip with Spinach - Calamari Both of them came out quickly and tasted delicious! I liked the fact that the Calamari was not the normal boring breaded kind you find in every other restaurant, this was tempura style...oh yeah! For dinner we ordered: - Manicotti - Prime Center Cut New York - Flat Iron Steak (2ea.) - Mashed Potatoes - French Fries - Onion Strings - Creamed Spinach How was dinner....FANTASTIC! Everything was seasoned perfectly and the steaks were cooked to the exact temperature we requested. For dessert we ordered: - Panna Cotta - Crème Brulee - Blueberry Pie What's the best way to end a fantastic meal...Fantastic Desserts! All of the desserts were outstanding...not sure what else I can say about them. Overall Opinion: 740 Front did a fantastic job with the Customer Service and Food. We could not of picked a better place to celebrate our Anniversaries. We look forward to returning and trying all the other wonderful sounding choices on the menu! I called the restaurant to surprise my daughter and son-in-law and friends with a round of drinks while they were there enjoying a celebratory meal. The restaurant "forgot" and nothing happened. Bad service, right?? NO, the owners called me the next day to apologize and insisted on sending a gift card to them with an adorable note signed "Love Mom". This restaurant went above and beyond to correct a situation that happened on a busy night. My daughter and her friends are looking forward to another visit, and I will insist we visit next time I am in Colorado. Well done 740!! Can't wait to see you soon. read more
