Came to this restaurant on the whim and boy did we not regret it!! My friends, husband, daughter, and I didnt have to wait long and was seated at the table within a few minutes. The server was super friendly and attentive throughout our whole dinner! We ordered the following: - Potstickers (I was inquiring if the free appetizer + soda was applicable for dinner and the server said no, but the potstickers are free for dinner as a special.. I believe that was how it went bc I couldnt hear as well) - It was so good! The crunch before getting to the juicy filling inside was so satisfying. We genuinely loved this dish + the dipping sauce it came with. - Som Tom - I love how it wasnt coated in a bunch of sauce and the papaya was extra crunchy!! We got the thai spice and our tongues were burning but it was soo good. The only suggestion we have is that we wouldve liked the papaya to be a bit more pickled to get more of a juicy sour taste! - Salmon Curry - This was on the special menu and my friend ordered it for his meal. The salmon is deliciously crunchy when you first bite into it, and with the curry sauce, coconut milk was definitely heavy HOWEVER it balanced the salmon's taste & the curry so together it went very well together (This is from me as someone who doesn't really eat cooked salmon). He recommends it - Drunken Noodle - Eeep my husband and I shared this noodle dish and wow! It was so good. I love it so much - Eggplant dish - We also got this to share and its my FAVORITE version from any restaurant at this moment. The eggplant was cooked long + so soft with the sauce. The tofu as our protein was so yummy too!! It wasnt overall heavy on the sauce so I didnt feel like I was just eating oil! - New York Steak Garlic Fried Rice - Mkay this is our fave fave dish from the whole restaurant. The fried rice was so fluffy and the steak WITH the dipping sauce - wow dangerous combination bc it was so GOOD!! - Pad see you - My other friend got this dish and its overall really good. She ordered the CRISPY CHICKEN as the protein and wow!! ITS SO CRISPY. the crunch was heard. - Green Thai Tea (w/ coconut milk) - It was good however it definitely had a bitter aftertaste of tea.. It was mixed reviews from us because half of us liked the taste and the other half we preferred our thai tea really sweet. So this drink is definitely dependent on how bitter or sweet you like your thai tea. Overall the dishes we ordered to share was very tasty. Wish we had a recording of all the times we took our first bites and we were all like "wow." "YUM" We highly recommend this place and am going to keep coming back!!

I was in the area and had wanted to check this place out. I opted for the lunch special which consisted of an entree of choice, salad, egg roll, and drink. The service was decent. The food was just ok. I couldn't have the salad as it was topped with some dairy based dressing which caught me off guard as I've never seen that as a Thai spot. I had the cashew shrimp, and ordered med-hot and it was pretty mild, plus the flavors were lacking. My Thai tea was good though. Overall, decent place just not sure I'd be back.

We loved the lunch combo, and all the food we had! The cream cheese wontons were delicious but I would have preferred more crunch to cream cheese ratio- cream cheese was much heavier Pad Thai was delicious, panang and red curry. We tried all the thai drinks: coffee, tea, green tea. All were good, my preference was the Thai iced tea

This is a little find in Carlsbad! We wanted Thai food and we wanted it in this specific area, so we came here. The restaurant was empty on this Sat afternoon. We were a little apprehensive but decided to give it a shot anyway. We got seated immediately. The server was nice. Each table has a bell with buttons indicating "call" and "pay", which was unique and I wish more restaurants would adopt this. The Thai menu is pretty much standard. Their Lao menu has like 8 items. We ordered the drunken noodles from the Thai menu and Khao Poon or Vermicelli Curry Noodles from the Lao menu. Both plates were delicious but not super spicy. For next time, we will ask for a higher spice level. The drunken noodles was a proper stir fry with a lot of veggies and a mix of great flavors. The Curry Noodles was a bowl of coconut milk based soup with vermicelli, minced chicken and beef pieces and veggies. The bowl was a huge portion and would have sufficed 2 people. The drunken noodles was good for 1.5 people. Pricing wise, it is on par with Carlsbad. We will be back to try more options!

Friday night dinner was delicious. We had the crab fried rice, pad see you and pra ram. Everything was so good and we enjoyed every single bite. Service was good. The only thing I didn't "love" was the potstickers. We got to sit right away we didn't need a reservation. Restaurant was clean and love all the Christmas decorations. We will definitely enjoy another meal here.

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... I am very sad to post this review. Before the business was sold to this new family, it was extraordinary... Likely where all the good reviews came from. Tonight, we popped in, because the sushi restaurant next door had a long wait. We thought... "heck, we love Thai food." THE SERVICE... was horrendous. We had to ring a bell for anyone to come out from the kitchen. Perhaps its a one-person operation, like at BKK Thai, but the two places are like night and day. The waitress delivered one of two meals, and at that same time asked me again what I had ordered. WHAT?!?! At the end of our meal (if we can call it that), we again had to call for the bill. THE FOOD... was bland, like everything was boiled, rather than pan-seared. We had the Pad See Ew with beef (they were out of pork) and Drunken Noodle with chicken. The beef was dry and overcooked, while the chicken looked and tasted like remnants from God knows where. This is part of the same restaurant found in San Marcos, which have both made our DO NOT RETURN list. It's a small space with a 'fast food' feel. Nicely decorated and appeared clean (this is the one star). NOT RECOMMENDED

Very cute Thai spot. The interior is super cozy with a chill vibe. The location is next to a mall, and in this plaza has, pharmacy, banks, a gym, and coffee shops. Plus, there's tons of parking in the plaza. The food? Absolutely delicious! So yummy. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented--like, you'll want to take pics before you eat. The staff are friendly, funny, and happy to answer all your questions. They really made the experience even better. If you love Thai food (or just good food in general), you have to check this place out. Highly recommend!

My mom and I tried this, and were thrilled to find a hidden gem nearby. This Thai place is so fresh and the staff is all extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend to everyone!

My wife and I have been searching North County for years for same, to no avail - so we readily accepted. We arrived a few minutes before 1pm - and our first thought was - what a strange location. About a block off of Carlsbad Village Drive, but nothing else really around to drive foot traffic. Our second thought was - ok, where's the entrance? We did a complete loop before finding it, and headed upstairs to the restaurant. And our third thought was - where IS everyone? Total ghost town - and to be honest, at that point, I was pretty sure that this was yet another poor attempt at an authentic Thai restaurant. And - I was wrong. Our friends arrived shortly, and we sat down and perused the menu - even though we all kinda knew what we wanted, we wanted to see what else was out there - and good thing we did, as my wife changed her mind and went with Pumpkin Curry. I, being a total creature of habit, went with Yellow Chicken Curry with no onion - and an appetizer of Chicken Satay. Our friends ordered also, starting with Drunken noodles, another Yellow Curry (with tofu), and Rad Na (pork version). Let me interrupt this with a quick aside - the waitress was absolutely wonderful during the order process. For each entree, she specifically asked the spice level (1-10), and delivered somewhat accordingly. The food started arriving shortly thereafter - and there was a LOT of food arriving! The only nit I had was that, in my demented brain, appetizers show up before the main course. In this case, everything arrived together. That said, the main courses were incredible (and again, HUGE). While I would submit that while I asked for a spice level of 10, I got more of a 4 or 5, but when Thais see blonde hair blued eyed white guys, they tend to assume (usually correctly) that they have no idea what they're asking for. In my case, they were wrong. No biggie, I'm used to it, and next time, will definitely up the ante on the spice issue. My wife LOVED her Pumpkin Curry, and our friends enjoyed their meals as well. They pretty much finished off the Drunken Noodles, so clearly that was a hit. The only other nit that I ran into was the Chicken Satay. These things were HUGE - so much so that I could cut them in half along the length, and make a huge chicken sandwich. I've never seen it done this way - but my wife and I split one and took the rest home - that's how huge they were. The peanut sauce was amazing, as was the Thai Cucumber Salad (actually one of the better ones I've had - in California OR Thailand - it was that good). Bottom line, a worthy discovery, AND they use Door Dash - so we'll be eating Aroi Thai - Carlsbad quite a bit going forward - actually real Thai in North County....outstanding!!!

This place was located right off the freeway and connected to another Mexican restaurant but they were the only building that was connected with their own lot and kind of rundown like old and dirty which reminded me of Old Town so I'm not sure if that look/feel was intentional since they are the only building there. Inside was still old and rundown but did have a modern feel with the bar seatings and lemon decor. I went in during lunch hours 12pm. There was only 1 host who was also the waiter and server who took care of 3-4 tables at the same time including mine. She did a good job at juggling all tables and came by often enough. Now with the food wait times it seemed like there was only 1 person in the kitchen as well since it took quite awhile for all the foods to come out. It took about 30 minutes after ordering since all 3 tables ordered at the same time. *Beef Boat Noodles - these were just okay. You have the option of choosing veggies/tofu, chicken, or beef. The beef didn't come with all the things I'm used to in boat noodles such as tripe, tendon, different cuts of braised beef, water spinach, or Chinese broccoli. It didn't even seem like blood was added either. It only came with 2 meatballs and beef slices that weren't tender and could have been cut smaller too. They need to add more different cuts of meats and other things to it. It tasted like Pho Lao. *Crying Tiger Salad - was okay as well. The flavoring was there but it wasn't tossed correctly since the toasted rice powder stayed on top of the meat. Also the meat was too overcooked so it was chewy and it also could've been cut smaller. They were thick big chewy pieces. *Thum Lao Style - not bad! I was expecting it to still be more on the bland Thai style but it was actually pretty good and sour the way I like it. It was still light in color meaning they didn't add crab paste for the dark coloring or shrimp paste. They did add pickled crabs though and it was pretty good and spicy. I also like how they "fauk"/chopped the papaya too instead of shredding so good job on that! *Khao Pad Naem - this was my mom's so I didn't try it. She said it was a bit salty but I'm assuming because of the protein she got which was the sour fermented pork which is the naem. It looked good though with the way they fried the egg.
