The pad thai was cooked perfect and tasty and there was a lot of food. The pot stickers were delicious. On our to go order, we had ordered spring rolls with shrimp. OMG!! Probably one of the best I've ever had. They were big and delicious. When you walk in, you notice the kitchen. So you can kinda see inside. I like that. There's a row of tables. They quoted 10-15 minutes, but it actually took closer to 30 minutes. Food was actually pretty good! It wasn't as flavorful as I expected though, and I don't think the sauce paired well with the meat. The last Crying Tiger I had came with a more vinegary sauce, which I had hoped for. This place used to be one of my favorites. Now it is barely edible. Maybe I'm going a little extreme, but the vegetables are kinda fresh but everything else can be made in your own kitchen better. They use cheap Blan generic restaurant depot ingredients.. and nothing else. Server is cook. She's great but atmosphere is yuk. It literally gets worse every time I go. It's so sad. Fantastic first experience, dismal second experience. Hope it's better next time. Our first order the food was excellent. We thought we had found our new go-to Thai / Lao spot. Flavors were on point, food was piping hot, service was good. We knew we had to come back. All in all a solid 9 out of 10. Second time we ordered Papaya salad spicy 9 out of 10. Came with zero spice. Had picked it up for take out and we were already home. Called and she asked if we wanted a credit. Said we would rather exchange it. Drove back up there and instead of preparing it fresh she took it in the back and added the spices and gave it back to us. Her demeanor didn't make me feel like she really cared that they had messed up our order nor was she particularly concerned about our food. Got home and tried the drunken noodles we had got. They were cold by now and had to reheat them. Definitely not the same flavor on the noodles or the salad and would give both a 5 out of 10 at best. Nothing special and not really worth coming back for, especially considering the service on this visit. We'll give it another try and hopefully the next visit will be back on track. I decided to try this place it recently opened up. The place is modern and clean. It is a small restaurant maybe 10 tables inside. Half the tables were filled when I walked in. I ordered my food to go and the wait was only about 10 minutes. I only saw one waitress, and she would disappear in the kitchen for a while so I was wondering if she was doing the cooking too. She told me to push the ring bell when I was ready to order. She was very friendly. I ordered the fresh spring rolls, it was $12 for 4 pieces it was pretty good. I will definitely come back. I dug a little deeper and realized they are very new. The Tom Yum with chicken was just what we needed on a chilly Friday night. The potatoes tasted like powder and were completely under seasoned. Overall, very thin and worse than curry you could make at home with coconut milk and canned curry paste. The seafood stir fry was mostly mushrooms and pretty bland. Again, under seasoned. The Three Kings was also mostly mushrooms and under seasoned. The roasted duck over rice had four little drumsticks instead of a healthy portion of duck. The soft boiled egg was hard boiled. The bok choy was not even bok choy- maybe spinach. This place seems to have good reviews, so I'm hoping the bad experience we had was an isolated incident but I doubt it. Upon being seated we ordered 2 drinks, which took 20 minutes to receive on a very slow night so I'm thinking the waitress temporarily forgot to get them. We ordered two different beef entrees, a ribs entree (as an appetizer) and spring rolls appetizer. One of the beef entrees came out 15 minutes before the other. We asked the waitress which beef entree was it and she said she did not know. And walked away. Tf? That was red flag #1. The food looked and tasted good. Halfway through eating the ribs and spring rolls, both finger foods, we realized we didn't have napkins and we asked for napkins. The waitress told us, with the kindest smile, that they ran out of napkins. I just stare at her, fingers covered in rib and spring roll sauce and ask her if she's serious. Yes, she says, they're out of napkins. Not an I'm so sorry! Or, this has never happened before! Just "we ran out of napkins" and walks away. I guarantee you this must happen all the time. I turned to the table next to us and asked if I could buy some napkins from them, they also have no napkins. Let me clarify: this restaurant is connected to a CVS and on the other side of the CVS is a Vons. GO BUY SOME NAPKINS. It was sooo bizarre, and that is when I realized I will not be coming back here. Ever. Red flag #3 is that we buzzed the waitress for the check (each table has a 'need help' buzzer) because when she sat us, she said to use the buzzer if we needed her. (for reference i am Laotian/thai) Thai Beef Salad 7/10 -served with sticky rice, the steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare. I thought it would be flavored more like crying tiger sauce(spicy, sour and tangy) but this was leaning towards the sweeter side which i didn't like as much. It seems that to have a full set of ingredients for a dish, you have to order things separately which just jacks up the price. When I asked for one of the dishes to be served spicy, 7 out of 10 (a standard request at any Thai restaurant) I was told they don't cook anything spicy, they just give you sauce. A very sad answer!
