The options were to bring it to Best Buy (who'd send it to Apple for $99), buy a DIY kit for $45, or bring it to I Fix Screens right down the street. I did some research and found that replacing Apple watch batteries requires the screen to be removed and then heat-sealed with a special glue. That seemed too delicate an operation for me to try on my own. I read some Google reviews that said IFS was less expensive than BB, and since it's also much closer to me, it seemed like a no-brainer. I brought it in. I was told to leave it and the repairman would be in touch; it was ready within the week. I got a bit of sticker shock picking it up when he told me it was $130--I thought at the very least the price would be competitive with Apple! (Frankly, for $50 more than his fee I could get a brand new watch!) He said he told me the price on the phone, but honestly, I didn't hear it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but if I had heard that price, I would have told him no thanks. When I got the watch home I noticed that there seemed to be deep scratches or nicks all along the edges where the screen meets the encasement. I took some photos of it to get a closer view, and it looks like bits of excess glue maybe? I don't want to mess with it, but seriously, for that price it should look pristine. I'm including the photos; the knobby bits are circled in red. ***UPDATE: There's no discernible difference in battery life. What an incredible waste of money!

That was my bad for not realizing the time of day. That said, once I was helped, I had a great experience. A super helpful associate named Karim assisted me (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!). My phone screen had broken, and I had no idea how to transfer all my data to a new phone. Karim took care of everything for me in about 10-15 minutes. She made the whole process smooth and stress-free, didn't charge anything for the help, and even gave me detailed info about new Samsung and Google Pixel phones in case the one I bought as a quick replacement didn't work out. The store itself was very clean, and all the Samsung and Google Pixel display models were working, which I appreciated. I do wish there were more case options for non-iPhone models and that they were displayed higher up like the iPhone cases--you currently have to bend down to see them. Overall, a great experience. After several trips to the store, we were assured it would be on the next bill. Still haven't gotten it after 6 months of billing. Assured bill would be $180 a month with fees and taxes. Bill is always $225 a month (with discounts and two phones on the bill we don't even own). Last night we got an email, the new bill would be over $300 a month for the two new Sim cards we ordered yesterday. We never ordered SIM cards. This place is very disreputable!
