I've legit never had a beverage made either in house or elsewhere with their beans that I didn't love! My husband and I buy a couple of bags of a particular blend every week for home use. We love it! The only reason they get 4 stores instead of 5 is because it REALLY bugs me that -Every-Single-Time- I have my beans ground they question my desire for a particular grind size and ask what I'm using it for. I'm not an idiot! I as well have been a barista and have also sold high end espresso and coffee equipment. I know how I want my beans ground! The most recent time I was in getting two bags they took it upon themselves to grind them according to their own preference and not as I asked them to. Going forward I'll be checking my grind before I leave to ensure they do what I've requested. Otherwise, for real, it's my favorite coffee in town! read more

What an awesome little coffee shop! Staff were very friendly, decor was great, they roast their own coffee beans too! Made you feel like a regular even though it was our first visit to Durango and this coffee shop. The Nitro Cold Brew was excellent, nice froth and coffee was smooth and full bodied! On the Barrista side of things, our cappuccino was also excellent, nice froth (even with almond milk) and a true cappuccino, not aan almond milk latte that many lazy Barristas try to pass off as a cap. As most Aussies would know, finding good coffee in the U.S. is about as hard to find as a virgin in a whorehouse. Well in Durango the search is over. This place not only roasts its own coffee they know how to make it as well. My half cup Americano was as close to perfection I have ever had in this country. I was in Durango for two days and I tried several of the highest rated coffee cafes and this was the stand out for me. It's located a little out of town but the service is great, they roast their own beans and they really know how to make an espresso. I'm happy to have had this coffee served at some other local places...but coming into this location is my favorite!! I am new to the area and I heard Starbucks is moving in nearby. Frankly ALL of Durango was in need of a proper coffee house, as is Farmington. This is THE place for world class coffee. When you walk into the other places, you have no idea how long ago that coffee was roasted. The owner told me that they roast twice a week and that none of the roasted beans were roasted more than one week ago. And you can tell that just by tasting it. We had a couple of lattes and they were perfect. If you want a truly exceptional coffee, this is the place. Oh and the prices were very reasonable. An excellent value. We will be back. My ONLY suggestion is to actually date the bags with the roasted date. None of the competition would dare do that because they know that coffee roasted more than a week ago is just plain stale no matter how you package it. read more

We were passing through on the way home to NM and stopped in for a coffee and a bathroom. It was 5:58 pm when we walked into the shop and a short middle aged woman and tall younger man were working. When my husband asked nicely where the restrooms were the tall man smiled and said "we're closed". I told them it was only 5:58 and the extremely snotty man smiled very sarcastically and and said again we are closed. It would have only taken 2 minutes to wait on us and my husband is a severe diabetic and it would have been very kind of them to give us that courtesy. I like to give local businesses my business but they obviously did not want it. We then went down the road to a Starbucks drive through where the young man who waited on us was super polite and made me a great specialty coffee. A little kindness goes such a long way. This is the first bad review I have ever written. When someone is rude to me I usually mark it up to a bad day. This went far beyond that. Local brew is the way I prefer to go. Chain brews have their place, but when I can, local is the only way. Though I had seen 81301 for a couple of years now while in town, I just tried it this past Thanksgiving holiday. The inside is nice and roomy with plenty of seating. I really liked seeing the roasting area in the back. Very nice touch. The staff wasn't the friendliest, which I found intriguing as 99% of the people in Durango area over-the-top friendly; but this wasn't a breaking point...maybe they just had a long day. The main reason 81301 won't be my new haunt is the coffee. I got a mocha, which I don't normally, though like them. I chose that drink because they only had a small-sized cappuccino, my preferred drink, and I wanted something larger. The mocha was sweeter and had less of a robust coffee bite than I prefer. The price point was ok. I will try it again and pick the cappuccino to see if I get a new outlook on of their coffee. read more

The owners are fantastic, they hire the nicest people, they have the best coffee - roasted on the spot - and they didn't give me a snob look when I said how I like my long shots.
