Wow, their Chai is delicious! Literally said wow after my first sip. Walking in the service is friendly and welcoming. The milk alternatives are great. I will be coming back to try all their cold brew soon. The ambience here is mellow and although I was only here for less than 5 minutes I did enjoy my time waiting for my Chai.

This is a friendly little shop on North Main. I usually get drip coffee or cold brew here and like both. They often have single-origin brews available, which is a good thing. Because it's north of downtown, 81301 Roasters is usually quieter than other Main Ave shops. This is a good place to get work done. I'd like some comfier seating, but they do have a pleasant outdoor section. Easily recommendable. Happy travels! Seatbelts!

Came in for a cold brew that was quite good. The barista knew what my wife meant when she asked about the "notes" in the brewed coffee, which is always a good sign. And they had something other than the usual floral or fruity varieties that we don't prefer. It's a small place, but they have indoor seating. They close up shop in the early afternoon, so get here before then if you want to enjoy the offerings!

Great coffee, fun baristas, and a good place to get work done (if you can handle chatter from the locals -- it's a popular hangout, and for good reason). They roast on-site, and clearly know what they're doing. We tried the cold brew and light roast drip multiple times over the course of a week and found both to be consistently good. The drip coffee in particular was hands-down the best we tried during our time in Durango. Bold, flavorful, and not at all weak or bitter. They also sell bags of beans, which they'll grind upon request. Their prices are incredible and the beans are fresh. We bought two bags, both of which were roughly a week old. We didn't try decaf in the store, but the beans we bought have been great in our Chemex. They're a nice medium roast, not overly dark and oily, like so many decaf blends are. Next time I'm in Durango, this will be my first stop after a long day's drive! read more

The coffee was good, the breakfast sandwich was okay, the service absolutely sucked. If the world were to end tomorrow, I think the cashier would have been perfectly happy. Thought perhaps she was having a bad day, but turned out everyone working there was having similar issues read more

Yes!!! I know I'm probably late to the party, but I just discovered this establishment and as so happy to find perfectly roasted coffee in Durango. I don't live in town but I frequent Durango. It has been difficult to find roasted coffee that I like. The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is outstanding and I can find it in 5 lb bags to keep me going until the next time I am in town. On top of that, the service is wonderful. Every encounter has been professional and friendly. Not all 3rd wave coffee shops throw out that vibe, they too often are filled with wanna-be hipsters and the stink of pretension. 81301, thank you for making coffee so Easy. read more

Love the atmosphere and overall ambiance of the shop. The coffee is very true to its origins and they don't mess around with the frilly extras. Their roasting lab is a great touch and really shows how much time and effort is put into a good cup of coffee. The windows bring in lots of natural light that make it warm and cozy. It's also the perfect place to get work done and not get interrupted by the hustle and bustle of other coffee shops! Highly recommended for those coffee enthusiasts! read more

As soon as I walked in, I almost didn't need the coffee to wake me up this morning. The staff were bubbly and energetic and the strong aroma of espresso were enough to brighten me up. The pour over station was art in motion as they were busy with orders. And the "Roasting Lab" is quite the sight to see. The coffee was excellent and well prepared with foam design. I had a 12oz Breve and highly recommend it. This will be my spot when I travel to Durango. read more

Love seeing the roaster machine for coffee. I got the cappuccino and it was very smooth. Very 'earthy' nothing fancy atmosphere. I sat outside. Wish there was just a bit more comfortable seating to read for a while outside. I love to sit outside cause inside most places are too loud for me to enjoy. read more

The Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai is a 7-Star hotel, this coffee house in Durango is 7-Star without sticker-shock price tags! As a traveler, I'm not really into world-renowned, star-studded places, they are great. At this stage in my life, I'm more like a chameleon seeking to blend into local faves, watch, listen and perhaps taking home a piece of fascinating people around the world puzzle. I usually go with a plain Latte when visiting a new coffee house. Their Latte is so silky, smooth, steamed whole-milk perfectly balanced with espresso. The look of the place might cause a bit of skepticism in the city girly girl part of me, it's not super cozy to a high-heeled, contoured make-up fashionista. Hard surfaced chairs give me the urge to grab the camping pillow outta my car... but just one sip of the coffee casts out all those nonsense. I was reminded what I was there for: a real good cup of Latte! Their brewed coffee is all pour-over. I love it more when I see they've got my Sumatra! I find perfection here, no need to add any flavor shots or sugar, give me Two 16-oz of 81301 Latte and I am a happy camper. I'll set your address as my destination the next time I'm Durango bound! read more

Pretty good coffee, great logo, expensive t-shirts, friendly professional service, and clean place with inviting atmosphere, and free stickers. I'd rate the coffee better but I've rated the best across town so I have to be honest and say it doesn't compare. I ordered an Americano and it was hot, smooth, and no bite. Good selection of coffee & tea and is your average vibe coffee shop: tables for socializing in a not so cramped space. Playlist was solid when we were in there for about 2 hours (maybe it was the edibles?), and the pastries weren't bad either. Id be back, especially to check out the Day-Olds section (yesterdays desserts for $1, count me in!) read more

I always search for local coffee shops when I travel. We were in Durango for skiing, so we wanted a coffee shop that had to-go breakfast items other than just muffins. This coffee shop has breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. I ate the veggie burrito which has eggs, mozzarella cheese, potatoes, zucchini, mushrooms, and bell peppers. It was SO good! The tortilla used was of good quality too. I'm not sure if the tortilla was locally made, but it didn't seem store-bought. They also had sausage and bacon varieties of the burrito. Their coffee was really good too! I tried their latte and Americano over the time we were in Durango. I love Americanos and theirs was definitely done right! read more

I never thought Durango would get an exceptional coffee shop that does latte art! This place is by far the best coffee shop in Durango with espresso drinks. As for coffee, they generally do a pretty decent job with everything--lot's of single-origin and roast over a dozen varieties. Yet, they only serve one option a day which keeps me from coming in more often as I only drink light to medium roasts. It is extremely frustrating they expect everyone to want only one roast they choose to make that day. When they're making a single-serve pour over, they really should give more than one option. Why do they roast so many varieties and then only serve one? If they decide to one day not be so dictatorial with pour overs I'll revise this to give them 5 stars. Other than that, great espresso, reasonable prices, and very delicious snacks. read more

Usually when I ask a barista if they use cardamom, unless I'm in a Turkish or Mediterranean joint, I get a blank stare. Before I even got the chance, the young woman at the counter flashed me their made in house cardamom syrup. Made me a very happy woman. The selection may be slim, but the coffee is smooth, deep and rich without being bitter. Not the best coffee I've had, but pretty good. Would have loved a sugar free option for the cardamom, but I know my expectations are high. My coffee stop for the week! read more

This is the perfect little coffee joint. Great coffee, delicious cinnamon rolls, and a genuinely friendly staff who made me feel welcome and comfortable. The vibe is casual, not pretentious, and I wish I was a local so I could come back more often! This was the very first spot I went to when I moved to this town. Favorite coffee spot in Durango! The staff is ALWAYS on point and friendly. They have homemade almond milk, fresh roasted coffee, the BEST nitro cold brew and yummy treats. The cinnamon rolls are SUPER yummy. I always love seeing their coffee roasts at other breakfast restaurants in town. read more

Seemed like a nice place but when I asked for napkins, after the barista told me to put on a mask, she said they didn't have any. Said the paper delivery person had not made a delivery. Do not stores around here sell napkins. Also, did not have any paper towels in the restroom. They seemed more interested in enforcing the mask rule than anything else. The barista picked up the muffin we ordered barehanded. Reflects on the management of this place. read more

I'm going to give 5 stars, but I would honestly give 4.5 if I could. The coffee was great, service excellent. My only complaint is that we came here for "breakfast" and the selection was a little disappointing. Choices were cinnamon buns (delicious), muffin or brownie. Would have liked to see something a little less sweet (although they were paleo). read more

This spot is my favorite Animas City coffeehouse with great espressos and pour-through filtered coffees. Check them out next time you are up around 32nd St. read more

The Cure's 'M' was playing as I walked in to this place, and I made the barista wait in silence for the powerful ending before ordering. Was she annoyed? Probably, but respect is due when a 17 Seconds cut comes on. They do love the Cure in Colorado, I swear I heard them in every mountain town I cruised through. Cute spot for good coffee and tea, which they give you in a custom, loose leaf pouch. read more

She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.

The cinnasugar was in the bland side; the others were better. Service was meh, from a young woman who very clearly is NOT a people person. Finally in the early 2000s I went in search of small coffee roaster. I was living on the east coast and I had a lot to choose from, but nothing matched those early Starbucks years. We moved to the four corners region during covid. On our first visit to Durango, Colorado we stopped in a chocolate/coffee shop where I discovered Dessert Sun coffee. Blew my mind and taste buds. I now refuse to start any day without french pressing a large cup of it's Black Velvet blend. It is by far the best coffee I've ever tasted.

However, it's also smooth enough for even a black-coffee hater to drink sans cream and sugar! In small quantities, of course :) The beans may not be local, but the roasting is, and these guys know how to roast some delicious beans!!

Breakfast burritos and Bear Pie smoothies are our go-to. I typically get two meals out of my burrito as they are pretty filling. Service is always friendly and the food is always delicious. You usually have to wait a little bit for your order but it's very much worth it. We have eaten inside the cafe before but prefer to take it to-go as the setup is small (but cozy). Always love coming here and always recommend.

Thankfully, we came across Carver Brewing Co. and were happy to see it open. They offer a great variety of local beers, including options to take some to go. We tried the Double IPA and the Hazy--both were delicious. They also have wine and mimosas available if beer isn't your thing. Bo (or Beau) was our bartender and truly made the experience. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a genuine smile the entire time. His energy was infectious and really brightened the atmosphere. Definitely a must-stop when passing through Durango.

The inside is a typical pub environment, with booths and tables and some TV's mounted around the bar areas. Our server was great. Food was okay. The "smashburger" just seemed like a regular burger, and it was pretty well done. The fries were good. I would say typical bar food, nothing special.
