Well it was not too busy when I went in. I didn't find what I was looking for but I found something and ordered a Thai tea. The young man who was helping me was Jose. I kept putting in my cc and the machine wouldn't take it. He decided to take on other customers and was busy working around me. He would say oh does your card have money on it? Try it again... try it again. I was getting frustrated. I stood in line like everyone else did and expected to be helped, but was brushed off with irritating comments. His coworker Mariah stopped what she was doing and helped me. I ended up paying with cash because the machine said it could not read my cc. I just really wanted to give a shout out to the employee, Mariah. I watched her as I waited. She was more than efficient and was making sure that everyone got what they needed. I get it sometimes it gets a bit busy... although it was not that busy at that moment... but I have to say Mariah looked at the fine details. If it wasn't for her I would have given a 1 star. She even made sure she came to the drink station. They put my drink to wrap the top they went on about their business and it sat there for a bit, but she saw it and put the drink on the counter. This girl needs to be promoted and needs a raise. She does above and beyond what she is supposed to do and needs to be acknowledged. She was kind, diligent and more than efficient. She even was putting the lid on things that the others left the lids off. A big 85 location! Lots of seating and parking available. While this location can get busy, I went at 5pm on a Monday and it was not busy at all. I ordered my drinks online and picked up some pastries when I came in. Vietnamese Coffee is amazing, I got it with the sea salt foam, if you don't like sea salt don't get it but if you do then it's good. The matcha strawberry latte didn't look appetizing upon first glaze but had a good taste, more strawberry than matcha tasting, on the sweeter side. I highly recommend getting the egg tarts, they are a personal favorite of mine. read more

Ambiance/Environment: Just like any other location, it's very casual. I'm surprised it's actually clean. They have a large indoor space with a decent amount of seating. The pastries are located on the left, the registers are in the center, and the pickup counter is on the right. There's constant foot traffic coming in n out, so there might be a line. Service: There was a line when I entered. It was consistently busy, so it's understandable. I suggest having at least 1-2 workers on the register at all times. It took a while for a worker to take the next customer. I ordered three drinks, and throughput took 13 min. Drinks: I skipped out on the pastries during this trip. I ordered the Vietnamese Coffee, Jasmine iced tea, and Mango Green Tea. For whatever reason, 85°'s version of Vietnamese coffee is shaken dramatically that there's a lot of bubbles at the top. You're left with 25% bubbles and 75% coffee. Despite that, their coffee is actually strong. Their teas are fruity and refreshing. Highly recommend adjusting the sweetness levels. We paid for our breads and my drink order said it'll be 25 minute wait at 11:50. We were waiting and saw so many more people come and get their orders and we didn't get ours. At 12:16 our order should've been done but we didn't get it until 12:35 and that was only because we had to go ask. They didn't know or paid attention to the online orders or idk what but it didn't seem they cared. No "hey we're sorry for the wait" or anything. They were having conversations while making the drinks which is fine but I think they were so focused on getting drinks out they didn't check for app orders. I come here about twice a week and enjoy their bread, so this was really disappointing. This was my first bad experience here, and it was entirely due to customer service. I had been having a good day, and honestly regretted coming here because it completely ruined my mood. The cashier acted like helping me was a hassle from the start. No greeting, no total after scanning, just silence after she has scanned the items while I had to look at the screen for the total. She asked if I wanted a bag. I said no because I try to avoid using paper or plastic bags if I can carry my items. She bagged everything anyway. When I reminded her I said no, she responded with "but you're taking the bag." I told her she already bagged it and charged me, so what was I supposed to do? She rolled her eyes, said "it's not a big deal," made a dismissive hand gesture, and asked if I wanted a refund with a smirk. It's not about the 10 cents, it's the attitude. When she gave me the 10 cents back, she treated it like a joke. As I was leaving, she said to her coworkers (loud enough for me to hear) that I "wanted 10 cents back because I didn't want a bag," and they were talking and laughing about it. Completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I thought about turning around to say something, but it honestly felt too immature to argue over. This is one of the best bakeries I have been to by far! This was my first time coming to 85 degrees and it's 5 stars for me! The staff were friendly and helpful, it was clean and organized inside, and the music playing was a vibe! When you enter, you are welcomed with an amazing smell of sweet baked goods, and fresh coffee. You grab a tray and you are free to select whatever baked goods or desserts that you choose. (Cakes and cheesecakes have to be selected at the pay counter) They have both sweet and savory so you have a wide range selection to choose from. All the goods have a description of what they are so it's pretty easy to navigate. I selected the bacon and cheese bread, the choco bun, and the maple twist. Took about a half hour to get my drink, and what made it worse was they did not announce drinks are done, they just set it on the counter. What is bad about this is if they are behind, everyone is standing around touching all the drinks to see if it theirs. Quite gross to watch over a half of an hour and see several people touch all the drinks with their fingers and looking up close to their face to read the small label. Unfortunately, I assumed my drink would be set next to eachother, a hot drink and a iced drink, but that was not the case. So my hot drink was sitting for awhile and ended up being luke warm by the time I took a sip. Additionally, the bread pastries were unorganized with some not having a label or price tag. So I was glad to fulfill my parental duties by stopping at the Gardena location. It's relatively close to the freeway and had lots of parking. It's in the same strip mall as a Daiso and a 99 Ranch so you can hit some of the other Asian Hall of Fame locations in one stop. I bought a variety of breads. One kid likes red beans and one prefers cream filled and it was easy to find options for both. I bought both the standard egg tarts and mochi ones. The pretty much tasted the same. We happily shared our haul with friends in Arizona. My friend took me to 85 Bakery and she had me at ube and taro pastries. We stopped by here after shopping at Daiso and 99 Ranch Market. Needed a coffee break. We got the mango creme brûlée cake. Not sure why it's called creme brûlée as it's more of a light and fluffy cake, not really anything creme brûlée about it. Also got the taro swirl, Vietnamese coffee and sea salt caramel foam iced coffee. The mango cake was really light which I loved. The taro swirl wasn't super sweet at all, my friend thought it wasn't sweet enough. Haha. I liked it just fine. The Vietnamese coffee was legit. You could taste how strong it was with the sweetness of the condensed milk. Best part was the crushed ice. Makes all the difference. Janey at the register was very nice and patient as she guided us through signing up for the 85 Bakery app. We scored the free sea salt caramel foam iced coffee. Win!!! After a night out, and an early start--caffeine is a must! Due to proximity, Terry K. recommended we drop into 85°C Bakery Cafe for a quick sip. I'm familiar with the chain so was more than open. We arrived in the morning and were one of the few customers, but overtime many more came and went. The layout of this 85° is similar to others with the giant pastry display on the left and the counter to pay and order drinks on the right. There are only a few tables inside. Service by all was efficient and nice and I appreciated them remaking my drink to meet my standards. We came for caffeine, my friend enjoyed a hot coffee while I was indecisive. I ultimately ended up with an Iced Oolong Milk Tea. I was pleased to learn their milk teas are made with non-dairy creamer as I do not drink dairy. My drink at first was extremely sweet to the point that I felt like I was going to get a toothache. Luckily, they remade my drink for 25% sweetness which was perfect. It was floral, not too sweet nor bitter, and creamy. I would get it again with these adjustments but it didn't wow me. I'm not familiar with the coffee or tea scene in Gardenia, but 85°C is a chain and a decent option for a pick me up. I tried out the tuna sandwich today and couldn't get though one bite. The tuna tasted fishy and almost rancid. Their beverage side of customer service here especially with their management is the worst. Horrendous, and very unaccommodating to customers like me. The management misled me when mentioned about giving me a voucher to get my free bread and drink to make up for my bad experience with them last time I was there. I told her the reason of NO app due to the inconvenient hassle (like why would you want to give more work for customers for) and the NO postal mailing address. Like who in their right mind would give out their mailing address to strangers especially to anyone for safety reasons. It's ridiculous they would ask for that. They can easily email me their voucher but they refuse to. With that, they have only intentions to BS customers like me. In their latest email to me, they said they understand my concern about the only way I can get the voucher is through my email, but they really don't understand and just BS to me that they understand me. This whole management of theirs is just the worst. They clearly don't know how to handle customers at all. I wouldn't be surprised when karma gets them. As karma always gets truly evil people like them. AMEN. I don't mind yelping again this place and its incompetent and appalling management to let people know how truly horrible the management and beverage staff are here. One of my favorite things about the bakery is that I know there will always be a Japanese style cheesecake here! Not only was the cheesecake incredibly soft and fluffy, but it was just the right amount of rich and not overtly sweet. While the cheesecake is simple, it does not need anything on top or an additional flavor to really enjoy. Been coming here since before the pandemic. Love that the bakery items are always fresh. Some of my favorites include the Ube Danish, Mini Cheese Cakes, Cheese Hot Dogs and Ham and Cheese Rolls. The Milk White Bread for toasting is also a family favorite. I love that they now bag the items individually (previously, they would bag each item at the register) for you to select, as this speeds up the checkout process. The associates are always friendly. If I'm being really honest, because I do not live near a convenient location, I could drop a fortune on the delicious food made here. And the thing about it is that the items you would think to taste sweet are often either savory or neutral, and the items you would expect to be completely savory (like the cheese hot dog) have a bit of sweetness to them. They have an amazing assortment of cakes, too...which I have found to not always be as sweet as I expect, but are delicious. I had to reign myself in as my budget was tight for this visit, but I promised myself to pick up a mango roll cake on my next visit.
