Yes the breads are 100% legit however, everytime I go here, and I tried early morning, mid day, late day... they're always empty. So many people, no bread. The moment they put in the breads on the shelf, it's gone in minutes. Some people wait on the side hoping that they will put out new/fresh breads. Its nice that they have a self serve kiosk but its right in front of the doors and the glare makes the screen hard to read. Pastries are what youd expect but I really enjoyed the berry tarte. Drinks were really well made. Ordered the matcha strawberry latte and the lavender grapefruit yuzu. With both drinks, you could really taste the contrast in flavors. The matcha was bitter but strawberry added a nice creamy sweetness with small bits of strawberry. The other drink was more like a light soda. The grapefruit was tarte but mellowed out with the lavender and the yuzu added back the sweetness. It also had small amounts of grapefruit pulp which I liked. It was nice how you could taste the different flavors and how they complimented each other instead of them blending together. read more

Staff are very nice and fast! I love their matcha strawberry or anything matcha. I recently just tried their Vietnamese coffee and as someone who doesn't really like strong coffee I think it was delicious. A bit overwhelmed with the ice but I didn't mind at all. I ordered from their kiosk. Waited at the pick up counter for over 10 mins. I already saw the later started making my drink then. Then after she done she just left in the cup holder in the machine that seal the top and left. I waited another 10 mins. It's not even busy at the store. Then I asked how long is my drink and another lady grabbed it for me. If I didn't say anything I would have waited forever. And the drink doesn't even look like the drink. I barely tasted the strawberry. This drink is nasty. Bad customer service and bad drink. Not coming back. read more

I come here all the time but for 2 consecutive times this lady named PLOY would always tell me that they no longer take coffee orders after 6:30 PM since I got there initially at 6:35 PM. This time around I got there at 6:25 pm and she said they no longer serve coffee at 6:20PM. They close at 7:00PM and there are still people getting in there to buy stuff! Ridiculous! Next time I will make sure to avoid this lady to take my order whatever time of the day it is! read more

So glad IL finally got an 85! I stopped by during the soft opening week, later in the day so selections were limited. I waited and went recently now that they're opened fully. It was also later on in the day, during my lunch break actually. There were a lot of people in there! There were more stuff put out but a good amount sold out. However, after I checked out, they brought out more fresh of the oven stuff haha i also got a tiramisu cake for my father in law. They liked it since it's not too sweet! I thought it was okay. It was like a sponge cake with custard and cocoa powder so I'm not sure if that's truly a tiramisu. I love their marble taro bun. The bun is soft and fluffy and the taro filling is not too sweet and there's a lot in it too. I also got this guava and cheese. That was good. Flakey and the guava is good. I also tried their strawberry matcha. It's pretty good too actually! I wanna try the Vietnamese iced coffee next time. read more

Viet coffee was way too thick. Tasted more like I was drinking straight condensed milk with minimal coffee flavor. Actually found it difficult to drink through the straw at first (regular straw not big ones for boba) because of how thick it was. read more

I'm a SoCal native and had about four 85 degrees bakeries in our old area. There's definitely kinks to work out and I truly hope they can improve things. It looked like they were going out of business. Literally all shelves empty. They would bring a few trays of bread out and people would literally grab them without even knowing what they were taking. My daughter was waiting on the marble taro bread. We ordered drinks from the kiosk and gave up. We're about to go back home soon to visit and would rather go to an 85 in our old area. The drinks were great and what we know and love. But even drinks were not available and the cooler with pudding and the cake display is so sad. I truly hope they can turn it around! read more

So happy 85° finally made it to Illinois! But honestly, this location always feels a little understocked. Every time we come, there are only like 4-5 items out. No egg tarts, no popular breads... it's kind of disappointing. We've tried mornings and nights, but still haven't figured out if there's ever a "right time" to catch everything fresh (if there even is one). On the plus side, I finally found my milk tea in the fridge section! They got rid of the big bottle versions on the west coast and I was bummed. That and the coffee were always my go-to's. But fingers crossed this spot gets better about keeping things stocked because I really want to love it more. read more

Hooray for their first location in IL! 85 Degrees is a Taiwanese bakery with buns, whole cakes & slices of cakes, pastries, savory sandwiches, loaves of bread, and coffee & boba drinks. They're still operating under a "soft grand opening" through 6/27 so they're not fully stocked yet, but it's already so good! Individually packaged buns & pastries (no sharing dirty tongs with other people), top 9 allergens listed on all signs (with FULL ingredients listed on their website), and cheaper than Korean bakeries. Like others have experienced, the shelves were completely empty during my visit. I've been to this bakery chain in California and Texas, and even though those locations had equal or higher foot traffic, they consistently kept their shelves well stocked. It's surprising that weeks after opening, this location is still facing stocking and planning challenges. Hopefully, these early issues will be resolved soon. read more

I drove for an hour specially to the store to buy Brioche bread, but it was always out of stock and I couldn't get it. Today when I went into the store, I found there were only two left. I was very happy to take the last two. But when I picked them up, the bread dropped on the ground. I felt very guilty and said sorry to the clerk. The clerk was very angry and took the bread away. She kept staring at me and giving me evil eyes and shaking her head. I was very sorry and even wanted to ask her if I needed to pay for it, but her attitude scared me. I have always liked the bread and coffee in this store since it opened, but now I feel very sad. I don't know if I remember wrongly, but I think the bread I bought before was in a sealed bag, so I was very happy to take it. I'm sorry for my behavior, but that clerk kept looking at me with hostility. My mom comforted me not to be afraid, but I think I won't come to buy bread here anymore. Since I dropped the bread, I have been very guilty and dared not take any bread because the clerk kept staring at me. I asked my mom to help me choose the bread because I saw her staring at my every move. Finally, I gathered my courage and saw a small sign on the clerk's desk that said "Collection H". All the clerks in the store were very friendly and had a good attitude except her. I strongly suggest that everyone be careful when taking bread, this lady will give you the evil eye. read more

The real question is why does this taste like tous Les jours and why are the pastry breads drenched in sugar... I remember 85c pastries in California always tasting like the bakery shop pastries in Taipei. Pastry house hippo in Arlington Heights Mitsuwa is a lot better. I will be right down the street from the bakery which will be great for me but in moderation. I like coming here because it is priced reasonably compared to the other Asian bakeries in the suburbs. I always like the sweet and savory baked goods I have picked out. The staff is nice and patience with all the customers. The location is clean and calm. Buttttttttttttt it seems like the baked goods are always a slim picking. What they have is good but I would like to see the shelves stocked up with more variety.
