    Chicken chowmein
    Arpita S.

Came here for dinner on a weekday and was able to find a seating spot right away. They have plenty of seating space inside. This place is located inside a plaza with plenty of parking space as well. We tried their chicken chowmein, chicken egg fried rice and the dumplings and really liked the noodles and the rice. The dumplings were alright. Very friendly and helpful staff and overall great experience. Will be back to try their ramen and other food items.

We usually have a great experience at 88, but this weekend, it was more miss than hit. Food quality was good but service-wise, they forgot a couple of our dishes. We ordered via the tablet on the table. Our food came out normally, but they forgot one dumpling order, which they later brought out, but then we realized we also ordered potstickers and they had to make those as well. Now I need to clarify that they were friendly and apologized for the delay twice, but it was quite a noticeable wait, especially for the potstickers. Place wasn't packed so not sure what happened.

As a returning customer, once again not disappointed with the food and services. Today the manager Julia have came to our table to check on us. She offered helpful information on the menu! Next visit, we will try definitely the orange chicken based on her comments. I am giving 88 Bao Bao a 5-stars as this place met all of my expectations. Quality food and top notch services are my utmost importance! Thank you Julia for taking the time with us.

Worthy of a good chuckle! Glad I didn't get stage fright

3 adults for dinner and we had some leftovers! Here's the deets.... Shanghai chicken chow mein - Very filling but super tasty. Nice texture to the noodles. Wife didnt like how long they were but the son and I didnt mind. Twist and bite!  Shrimp egg fried rice - rice was perfectly done, nice amount of egg and veggies mixed in, nice flavors.

A solid option for dim sum, served quickly in a no-frills restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was good overall and came out fast. Here's what we had: Crab & Pork XLB (4.5/5) Shrimp & Pork Shaomai (4.5/5) Cucumber Salad (4/5) Pan Fried Pork Bun (4/5) Ordering from a tablet at our table was convenient. Employees were friendly. They were busy with the lunch rush so it took a while to get our check. You can also serve yourself water and tea but I didn't realize this until we were on our way out. This is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking.

We ordered the pork xiao long bao, beef rolls, Shanghai shrimp chow mein, pan fried pork buns, and chocolate xiao long bao. The pork xiao long bao was very bland in my opinion; I had to rely on the vinegar for some flavoring. The skin is very thick, and there is just simply not enough broth in the xiao long bao. I expected more from this, as xiao long baos are their signature dish. The beef rolls were mediocre; the beef rolls I've eaten are usually dripping with hoisin sauce or oil. This one is very dry. It's really crunchy though, so that's a pro! The Shanghai shrimp chowmein was the best dish out of all. Each bite was a rush of flavor, I can taste the wok air!! As I am a thick noodles person, these noodles were perfect for me. 88 bao bao, you gotta slide me the recipe for this chow mein, hahah! The pan fried pork buns were good. Loved the broth for this one, and they were pan fried perfectly. However, the meat was more dense and compressed than the traditional ones. The chocolate xiao long baos was far from what I expected. I know this new trendy chocolate xiao long baos roots from din tai fung's menu, and there have been countless recipes of them online, the most popular being the Lindt chocolate wrapped in the xl bao skin. I'll stop beating around the bush. A bite into 88 bao bao's chocolate xiao long bao, it was Lindt. I don't know if I'll ever pay 9 bucks for something that is so simply made. Additionally, I'm sure they way overcooked it, cause the chocolate has the same consistency as water. A bite causes a whole splash. Service was very attentive. Mid meal, a woman, which we assume is the owner/boss, came to see how everything was. She was very bubbly and outgoing!

First time here , clean and cute very convenient to order there is a kiosk in each table or u could also order in front so no line which is great . We had chicken chowmein , black garlic ramen and the chocolate dumplings and a taro boba drink. The chowmein is delicious tasted fresh , the ramen was also good but the broth/soup it came with could be warmer /hotter . The boba came with cubed ice which I was not expecting the flavor was ok , the chocolate dumplings that came with a sea salt cream foam was good as well there is the element of surprise it would have been a lot better if the wrap was extra thin so it will just melt in your mouth and to probably give a choice of dark chocolate or milk . chocolate . The whole experience though was great . Will come back to taste their other dishes which is fairly priced

I come regular for the xialongbao. They change the chef and recipe. Not the authentic Shanghai taste anymore. skin of the bao is thick, meat within taste wrong, the pan fried bun is wrong and got no juice within. Very disappointed. Not return anymore.

Not as good as expected. I came here on a Saturday and this place was busy. It is in the same plaza as Trader Joe's and has plenty of parking around. To order, you do it at the register. It can be a bit overwhelming if there is a long line and you don't know what to get. It is best to step aside to look at the menu. The line moves fast. We ordered various dishes: - Egg Fried Rice with Chicken was our favorite! It looks simple but it tastes good. -Wonton in Chill Oil: I usually love this dish at other places, but I was disappointed. Something about the taste of the dumplings did not appeal to me. They were bland and very basic. -The Fried Shrimp had a lot of batter and very little meat. It was good, but it was dense because of the thick batter. -Cucumber Salad: The cucumbers were big and garlicky. It tasted fresh, but it was also okay. -Popcorn Chicken: The chicken pieces were very fried. I was not a fan of them, and I wouldn't recommend this dish. -Beef Rolls: Several people were eating this, and the dish was good. It has a bit of a sweet taste to it, but the dish is good overall. My daughter likes it. -Pork XiaoLongBao, you can't go wrong with this dish. They were good. Overall this place is a solid 3. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. They are known for certain dishes and I think that's why people come here.

Haven't been here in 2-3 months, and the quality has gotten worse and the quantity of food has decreased. The pan fried pork buns have very little meat, no soup, and more than half of it is dough. The quantity of popcorn chicken used to be double of the current, small square take-out box. Shrinkflation and worse quality of food.

Me and my friend order siomai,, beef roll and tonkatsu. To my surprise CHAN come to our table and ask me if I want to split into two bowls our soup. I said absolutely. I was so happy the hospitality and his gesture. Not every owner come by and acknowledge the costumer in a busy time. Also ISAAC is accommodating and and so polite to ask and give me hot tea one of my fav. On top of that food so delicious. I definitely go back here with all my friends again thank you so much again Chang for the delicious food

We came here for a family Sunday lunch, and it was pretty chill. You know the drill: order at the counter, grab a table, wait for your food. Food was affordable and came out pretty quick, within 15 minutes! You can also see them food prepping and cooking behind the window which we enjoyed. Here's the lowdown: Pork XLB (soup dumplings): Actually really good! The broth was hot and tasty, and the dumpling skin was on point. Beef rolls: Just okay for me, the beef could've been a little more tender. However, my mom really loved them! Tonkotsu Ramen: A bit disappointing, but what I would expect from place that doesn't specialize in ramen. It did taste like they used packaged noodles. But here's the real star: those black and gold molten lava buns. Holy wow. I've never had anything like them before. The warm salted egg custard inside was crazy delicious!

    No, they don't.

I don't believe there are halal options. This is a great place to eat that serves everyone that enjoys delicious dim sum and not having to drive far. Dim sum menu is not large but satisfies the craving!

I am glad to see that this place has good business during lunch since there aren't that many choices for dim sum in Walnut Creek and I want them to stay in business. Rather than placing the line on hold because she has a live customer in front of her, she decides to dive into the conversation! I'm very keen on customer service, and the fact that I was initially unacknowledged and then intentionally overlooked tells me all I need to know. They don't have to worry about getting my business.

In my opinion, it's a step above, with a much wider variety of dishes and plenty of choices beyond the usual favorites. Their beef rolls are especially worth ordering, they're much more substantial, packed with flavor, and very satisfying. Another thing that really stood out to me is the space. The restaurant is relatively clean, open, and spacious, which makes the overall experience much more comfortable than some of the smaller, crowded spots in the area. If you're ever near 99 Ranch in Concord, put this place on your list. Great food, generous portions, good service, and a comfortable atmosphere make it well worth checking out. The minced pork sauce clung onto them really really well. The minced pork had a nice balance of sweet and savory, although it leaned towards a little sweeter than I personally prefer. It wasn't like the Hawaiian style shaved ice which is based on frozen water, but more like Korean style Bingsoo with a milky shaved ice base. The flavor and texture were both good, but I thought it was missing the toppings. It relied solely on syrup, and I think it would've been much better with fresh fruit or other toppings to add more flavor. It was $5.99 per order as of July 2026.
