First I would like to congratulate on opening their third 8oz location in Studio City. I've been going to the Sherman Oaks location for years, so I was thrilled that they opened one 10 minute walk from the me. This 8oz poke is located in the same strip mall where LA fitness, Ohana BBQ, and Verizon wireless are. At this 8oz you have nice opening seating. The store is will maintain and very clean. SERVICE: Excellent, very friendly. POKE: Excellent, still the best poke in the Valley in my opinion. Like the Sherman Oaks location the cuts of fish here are nice big cubes and all the fish are fresh. And another plus about this location is that they served cook food as well, like garlic shrimp plate and unagi bowl. I did try their Hamachi Kama and I have to say it was fantastic. Very fresh and perfectly baked plus it was a good decent size kama too at $2.50 you really can't beat that. So good for them not to waste any part of the Yellowtail. Located in a strip mall off a major street I've eaten here a couple of times now and have found it to be pretty good. Walk up and order what you want as you go down the line. They have plenty of options to choose from and the food is pretty good. I choose to have salmon, tuna, and octopus on top of rice and added a variety of toppings and sauce. Next time I'll have to add a different sauce as I found the house sauce not having enough flavor for my liking. This place was my preferred poke spot in the studio city/Sherman oaks area however the portions have gotten so small, I don't think I can continue to visit this location. I order the Large which is 4 scoops of fish (2 albacore and 2 spicy tuna). The last few times the amount of fish has seems like half the amount compared to other poke restaurants and the Sherman oaks location. Sadly this is probably my last time going here. The medium sized poke bowl @ $20 is a perfect size. Well, I have never had a poke bowl before.. It was my son-in-law's birthday and his pick. I ordered a small bowl, it's really big! More than I usually eat. I had rice, salmon, spicy tuna, avocado, pickled cucumber, cilantro, purple onion, topped with various sauces, sesame seeds and dried onions! Wow! I loved it! The restaurant is clean with a nice decor. The prices are very reasonable. So happy there's a closer location for me to go get my poke fix! Never left a review before but felt the need to warn people. I've spent the past 24 hours going through the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced. They need to change the way they store the fish or something. Had albacore, salmon, and tuna on the kale salad. Not sure if it was the fish or the raw vegetables but something was not stored properly. Officially my favorite poke spot. Its in the back of a little strip mall looking area. Lots of parking. The fish is super fresh. I liked the options they had here that I don't always see available at poke spots, including albacore, octopus, fried wonton chips as a base, sweet egg, fried garlic and onions, and a variety of sauces. I MUST say that even a 1-star is too much for the disgraceful experience we had!!!!!!! All of our friends and family are regulars at their Ventura location so we thought we'd give this Studio City one a try. My friend & I walk in a half hour before closing and the restaurant was practically empty. The older lady asked for our order & I said we'd take 2 medium bowls but for one of them since my friend is pregnant, she'd only like extra crab instead of "protein" (aka raw fish). The employee asked again for us to pick a protein because it comes with the order. I once again stated she's pregnant & can't have raw fish. After she insisted the 3rd time, i gave up & told her just to put the fish on the side!!! WTH, don't they understand that a pregnant customer DOESN'T want to eat raw fish!!!! Instead of insisting to add a protein, she could've offered alternatives OR simply just added the crab...cheaper for them anyway!!! As we proceeded to the section for toppings, the next employee, a younger lady asked for our selections. I mentioned mine quickly so I can help my friend make hers because she doesn't speak English and was trying to point out her items. But we can barely see it since they added tables in front of the glass and we had to stand behind the metal bar. The lady was visibly irritated and insisted on a quicker decision. I kindly asked for another minute especially since NO ONE was waiting behind us but she clearly didn't care and kept insisting on a quicker decision. "What topping do you want!?" "What sauce!?" Adding insult by repeating it over & over like we're illiterate!!!! My friend felt uncomfortable, basically skipping that step as we moved to sauces/toppings. I told her mine & tried to help my friend with her choices. Yet again she's pushing for a quick decision!!!! They didn't have the Sriracha aioli, so I asked for another spicy sauce. At this point, that employee was so impatient & looked disgusted if us, she grabbed the bottle & literally DRENCHED the bowl with it!!!! I was furious when I noticed it & asked for her manager. She said they don't have one. I asked her for her name & she replied "Don't worry about it"! I insisted on her name, took out my phone to take pictures & she yelled, I'll sue you if you make it public! The older lady came up next to this rude one & pretended to be the manager, yet made ZERO effort to resolve the matter! This was absolutely one of the BEST poke places I've ever been to. Easy parking, no overhead sign but it's in the back right corner. The prices are so reasonable for the amount of food that gets piled on. The crispy onions they make fresh and taste sooooo good. So many sauces and toppings to pick from. Absolutely amazing. I don't like raw fish. So, I'm not the biggest Poke fan in the world. With that said, I love a Poke salad with cooked seafood & that fake crab salad & all the fixings. This place has it all. AND, there is no fishy smell (a complaint I have about a lot of Poke places I've gone into). I had a medium Poke bowl here on a Sunday when it was empty. The service was very fast and friendly and the lady who made my salad did not skimp! I had shrimp & fake crab salad, edamame, brown rice/salad (1/2 & 1/2) with the oil-free Poke Sauce (Citrus Soy IIRC). The only unhealthy choice I added was the onion ring thingys on top. I did not eat all of them as I really didn't care for them. But the Poke bowl itself was lip-smacking delicious. I'll be back for another one often. read more

The poke was good, but I wasn't too happy about an encounter I had. It was mine and my husbands first time here. We had our 1 year old baby with us. We ordered and got a drink also and said to go. We planned on leaving to eat at home but after paying we decided to stay and eat a little bit since our baby seemed hungry and impatient. We sat down and we were enjoying our food when idk if it's the manager or just an employee but she came over to our table as we are eating and interrupted us and said " next time if you plan on eating here you need to say for here not to go because we have to tax you" . Are you serious? For one we didn't plan on eating there anyways, we were interrupted mid meal to be told something very rude, and we felt really uncomfortable after that. We quickly grabbed our food and we cleaned up our table very good since apparently we were supposed to be taxed to sit and have a couple bites and we left and we will not be back. I hate when poke places serve you chopped up little pieces of salmon and tuna-- here, it's about half the size you would get for a piece of sashimi. Overall good experience-- only reason for a four star instead of five is that I ordered an hour and a half ahead and when I arrived, they had not even started my order and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes for my food. Love this poke but the staff is rude. Never coming back. She asked me for proof of my dog being a service animal (which is illegal but I still provided it) and was extremely rude and disrespectful. I had to get my phone from my car to get the proof and when I proceeded to show her she told me "just leave" I have never had an experience like this at any place. Please inform your employees that they are not supposed to ask for 'proof' of a service animal and that they can only ask whether the animal is a service animal or not. There is no requirement to have a certification for these animals. I have a doctors note which is confidential and does not need to be presented upon entering any public place.
