My colleagues and I found this place on Yelp during our business trip to HP. The place had very unique interior decor with lots of Thai culture. Staff were very friendly and professional. I tried their Tom yum soup and curry. The food is very soso especially for the price. My coworker tried their pad Thai, it was very sweet and don't taste much else. A little expensive but the crying tiger steak was fantastic. The steak, sauce, and rice was great, skip the vegetables though. We went out with friends and all ordered various things. We tried 98 Asian bistro for lunch today. I ordered the pho which was $8. It came with a spring roll that you can have crispy or soft. It was served with a sweet peanut sauce. Both were delicious! My dad ordered the pad Thai also $8. He said it was quite tasty as well. I also ordered a side of fried rice to share and it was probably the best fried rice I've ever had! I give this Thai restaurant a 5 plus stars for their beautiful decor, clean restrooms, and great service! From the owner, Mrs Tu Sen, to the bartenders, food runners, and servers....they all make you feel like family and treat you as if you were royalty! Let me start with the drinks! Import beers and mixed drinks were flowing down just right! So refreshing, cold, and just what I needed to start out my weekend. Their many variety of appetizers are to die for! We ordered the chicken wings, fried dumplings, papaya salad, and shrimp rolls. All cooked to perfection! This kind of review is very rare coming from me being that I am a manager at a Thai Restaurant as well. We definitely can learn a thing or two from 98 Asian Bistro. I see stellar reviews everywhere for 98 Asian Bistro. I understand it is very clean and nicely decorated. I am shocked that so many people find the fresh roll acceptable They are thin with almost no meat. The sauce is not peanut sauce, instead it's sweet and sour. The Tom Kha was good. Getting fresh rolls wrong is really inexcusable. Shredded chicken in a fresh roll? Come on guys. Where is the beef and shrimp? Also, I noticed in google reviews, when anyone had a negative experience, the owner replied with "Did you address it with your server?" Like somehow, since a patron didn't complain, it's there fault. Not a very professional way to address a complaint. It has to be really, really bad for me to complain to my server, because my server isn't the one skimping on ingredients - No reason to be that person. read more

I ordered Tom Yam soup. Instead of $7, they charged me $19 saying that they served it with rice. So, they rice was $12 that is completely ridiculous for such a small portion of PLAIN WHITE RICE! Plus they charged me $7 High Point Fee that I wasn't aware of. By the time I got home I got really bad allergy on that food. I had to rush to the store to get medication. The food wasn't fresh! Unlike most restaurants of this nature, they either spent a lot on decorating or just know how to frugally do it! Each room is tastefully done and comes across as a very romantic setting! Second, the food here is absolutely spot on! From our starters that consisted of battered Green Beans and Calamari, I could tell this was going to be a special experience! For entrees, we went with the Chicken Curry Soup, their take on a Pad Woonsen, and a $5 add on of their Tom Yum Soup. The Curry Soup was bursting with a excellent curry rendition of this dish. The Pad Woonsen, not the actual name, was my favorite dish by far! No need to worry about the $14 price tag, this dish was large and very fulfilling! The translucent wide noodles, carrots, broccoli, and large chicken pieces were spot on and brought this dish to another level. For $5 I couldn't resist trying the Tom Yum Soup. A bigger portion than I'd expected, as I figured more of a cup size, but the heat and flavors of this dish were spot on and not for the faint of heart! Third, the customer service is superb for my initial visit. Our glasses were never below 1/3 empty before we wee refilled, and we were consistently checked on by a number of different servers. I had the ground chicken basil, thanks to the recommendation from the waitress, and it was super. My brother had the steak named after a tiger it was good as well. The steak came with a Spicey basil sauce. It ranked pretty high in the worst things i have smelled in my life! The waitress said that what I was smelling may have been squid, so I guess I'm not cultured enough for that yet! Good atmosphere and the service was excellent. Been here for lunch and dinner respectively. Both meals were well-prepared and tasty. I agree with the other Yelpers in that this is one of the few Asian restaurants that seems clean (bathrooms and dining areas at least). The staff, for the most part, has been friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. One thing that could use some improvement is the beer selection. I had really high hopes for this place. Everything about the place is really beautiful inside but my overall experience simply didn't measure up. I was seated quickly and tended to but then everything started changing. I received my food nice and hot, the spring roll was pretty good although it had lettuce instead of cabbage for some reason. My main lunch course was the pad Thai chicken. I guess I was expecting more flavor? I felt like it was pretty bland and simple for a $10 entree. I mean it wasn't tasteless and it was pleasant, just lacking. Also my glass of water remained nearly empty and my waitress would walk right past me and fill other tables glasses. I also sat wanting a to go box for about 10 minutes because she never came near me. Came across this spot looking for event spaces for work. Found out there was a restaurant as well and decided to try it out during lunch with some colleagues today. Absolutely beautiful decor with an Asian flair! The wait staff was extremely welcoming and accommodating to everyone. They answered all of our questions and were not bothered at all! Everyone that we encountered were super nice and super sweet! The food! Omg the food!! I had the chicken fried rice and it was to die for! It came with veggie spring rolls and they were also very good! Flavors were amazing! Good portions! My colleagues both had the White Pepper and Garlic Chicken and they were both very pleased with the entree and spring rolls as well! The service time was also very fast! We have tried this place over and over because we just keep thinking we are getting an uncharacteristic experience since the other reviews are so high but really despite many visits it just isn't very good. The noodles are generally very over cooked or downright crumbly and the one time we ordered calamari it was completely inedible. The soups are good, nothing to write home about but good. We absolutely love Thai food and 98 Asian Bistro is a definite 5 stars. My husband can't handle spicy food so they adjusted his meal to what he liked. The Tom Kha soup is my favorite. Every Thai place seems to have a slightly different version; however, this is my favorite because the base/broth is so flavorful. Classics like the Pad Thai are filled with fresh vegetables and even the leftovers were delicious (and I am NOT a fan of leftovers!) There is plenty of parking, bar service, comfortable seating, beautiful decor (don't miss the Big Buddha!) and a helpful service staff. This place is a hidden gem...literally, it is in a random place right next to a car dealership and a sears I believe. Before I review the food I want to review the decor. The decor in this place is amazingly beautiful. A big Buddha statute, big lamps and lots of decorations. Also, they have separate eating areas that are enclosed with curtains. I can imagine this place being a really good date night place. As for the food, I tried the calamari, fried spring roll and tom kha soup. The calamari was nice and chewy and came with a spicy sauce. The tom kha soup had a kick to it that I was not expecting but it was refreshingly good. The pad thai was not that impressive because like another reviewer stated the noodles were congealed together. This restaurant is a gem! We were a walk in and the decor is beautiful and elegant. The customer service is phenomenal. This restaurant introduced me to Pad Thai and it is delicious. I like mine sans sprouts and extra peanut sauce on the side (the thick kind!) not only are the accommodating with my order to balance the dish texture wise (since I don't like the taste of the sprouts) I asked if they could throw some cabbage into the dish. And. Let. Me. Tell. You. it was phenomenal. Since my first time eating here (over 6 months ago) I've had Pad Thai at other restaurants and it's not the same. I love how you can order to go. I tell everyone about this place. The prices are a tad on the expensive side (including drinks) but this place is worth it. Hidden in a not so inviting commercial plaza, this restaurant seemed out of place. The decor and style is much like an upscale restaurant in a big city but with menu prices of an average restaurant. This gem is not all show as the food itself was outstanding. The dishes are not necessarily fusion dishes but the menu itself is a fusion of mainly Thai and Vietnamese type food. I finally found a place around the area that served Tom Yum soup just the way I liked it - slightly tangy, the perfect amount of lemon grass and with heat that was only felt as an after taste. The size of the soup appetizer was also an above average one person serving. For the main dish, I ordered the lunch Pranang Curry Chicken which came with my choice of a side summer roll. The roll was so-so and it was served with spiced duck sauce which was an interesting mix. As for the curry it was also made the way I liked it. The peanut taste and coconut taste had a great ratio and they know how to make it hot. Their thai hot had a really really good heat and just like the other dish it was to the point to where it was only felt after tasting the wonderful flavor of the Pranang. Overall their food was fantastic. The atmosphere was very chic and modern and ambient house music played in the background as I sat at the beautiful bar. The main dining room is separated from the bar but as I passed... this place is definitely a nice date spot.
