When I was pregnant, all I wanted was Mexican and Tex-Mex food. I could seriously eat it every day. So my husband and I came up here quite a bit when I was pregnant. However, since we've had my son, we're not in the area as much so we don't come as often, but we were at icon Park today and this seemed like the perfect place to take the rest of my family. It was an absolute hit! Grandma yelled at me for holding out on her! Why haven't you brought me here before? She had the agave chipotle queso chicken enchiladas. It was our servers recommendation and they were absolutely delicious. I had the birria appetizer and it was excellent. It was an appetizer, but it was so large. We couldn't eat it all and it could definitely be a meal if you wanted it to be. The absolute best thing is the kids menu. My son loves chips and queso so much. Queso dip is one of the sides you can get with the kids meal. How amazing is that? We go to some Mexican restaurants and I spend more on queso for this child than I do on a meal for him or even myself. He had the cheese quesadilla with queso and rice as sides. After lunch, I asked him if we could come back here and he said oh yes! My son ate most of his meal, but grandma and I both ended up taking to go boxes. I feel like the prices are pretty reasonable, especially the kids meal and for the portions they give you even for the adult meals. Our server was absolutely wonderful. She brought out fresh chips and salsa almost immediately, and as soon as our chips started to run low, she immediately replaced them. I really wanted to like Uncle Julio's, but unfortunately this visit was a major disappointment. The prices are extremely high for what you actually receive. We ordered the carnitas tacos, fresh guacamole, three house tequila shots, and a beer. While the food was okay, the portions were surprisingly small (barely any meat or avocado or rice) and didn't come close to justifying the cost. The guacamole was fresh, but overall the meal felt overpriced from start to finish. The biggest shock was the bill. We spent $67 for just one entrée, three house tequila shots, and one beer, which is hard to justify given the portion sizes and overall quality. The house tequila shots alone were $12.50 each, which felt excessive for house liquor. Service was also disappointing. Even before the restaurant became busy, everything moved slowly. To make matters worse, our server accidentally mixed up our receipt and initially charged us for another table's food. It created a lot of unnecessary confusion, and what bothered me most was that the mistake was handled rather casually. There wasn't much urgency or concern despite it being a significant billing error. The restaurant itself has a nice, modern atmosphere with comfortable booths, so I'll give credit where it's due. Unfortunately, the ambiance wasn't enough to make up for the overpriced food, small portions, slow service, and billing issues. Overall, I left feeling like I paid far more than the experience was worth. Food could have been better... we really went for the Chocolate Piñata And after jumping through an emotional roller coaster, we did get it, but how do you run out of your specialty item? That's the reason we came to try the food. I even called beforehand to ensure that they had it. We even asked our server, and we told her to reserve it. And when dessert time came she said they didn't have it!!!!! Hey, what's up with that?!!! She got her manager involved and he found one for us! That saved our day, but incredibly frustrating and while we waited, we (4 of us) talked about it and this is what we WILL REMEMBER. Ambiance was not there. Uncle Julio's is located right off International Drive in ICON Park, and it's a great spot if you're already in that area. The restaurant itself is very nice inside clean, well designed, and has a welcoming atmosphere. There's also a parking garage nearby, which makes it convenient. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy, and it took our server about 4 minutes to greet us. Once she did, she was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially since I have a shellfish allergy. That definitely stood out and made me feel comfortable dining there. They start you off with complimentary chips and dips, which were amazing and a great way to kick off the meal. For my main, I ordered the chipotle queso enchiladas along with the Perfect Paloma. The drink lived up to its name it was refreshing, flavorful, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the supreme nachos, which were good overall, but the beans were a bit overpowering compared to the other toppings. As the restaurant started to get busier, things did slow down a bit, and the food took longer than expected because they were backed up. That said, our server continued to check in on us and kept a great attitude the entire time. When the enchiladas finally came out, they did not disappoint. The chipotle queso enchiladas were absolutely delicious full of flavor and definitely something I'd order again. The only downside was the rice, which was a little hard and not as enjoyable as the rest of the plate. Overall, Uncle Julio's offers a great dining experience with excellent service, a clean environment, and some really standout menu items. Unfortunately missed the mark on our visit. First off, we were enticed by their advertisement for half price cocktails. We went in during Happy Hour expecting to sip a drink while we waited for food. Despite advertising Half Off Cocktails, when the server finally arrived we were informed that it only applied to about six margaritas on their menu, not 'cocktails' as advertised. We didn't complain to the server, as we assumed it wasn't his policy. Disappointing and misleading. We did end up ordering a variety of margaritas, which were disappointing to our crew for various reasons. Mine was acceptable but not exciting, though. I got the swirl with sangria. We checked in online and got the free 'guac'. I wish I'd snapped a photo, as it arrived without an attempt at presentation, just two scoops of mushed avocado on a plate. It needed more seasoning, which was unfortunate because there was no salt at our high top table. Nachos were decent, but soggy. I asked for extra jalapenos, which I did receive and they gave my plate more flavor. Service was fine. I felt bad that our server was both tending bar and taking orders as happy hour seemed to be a busier time for him. This was my third visit to Uncle Julio's and my last. We had a disappointing experience with our server, Omarys. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there and the service was cold. It took about 10 minutes before we were acknowledged at our table after being seated, and after our initial drink order came out incorrect -- it took another 10 minutes to get her attention so it could be fixed. Throughout the meal, she seemed to be attending to other tables and wasn't very present at ours. We weren't offered drink refills as she offered to the table next to us, and the only check-in came after we'd already finished our food, which didn't leave much opportunity to address anything in the moment. To get our check, we had to ask another server as she continued to brush our table off. The food itself was good, but the service made for a less enjoyable visit than we'd hoped. Popped in on an early Saturday afternoon. We were sat immediately which was great and they allowed us to sit outside since the weather was so nice. Once sat our server took our drink orders (club soda and their speciality non alcoholic watermelon drink). We ordered the table side guac along with our drinks and didn't receive the watermelon drink until after the guac was made (15minutes later). The only reason why it was so noticeable was due to the lack of flavor from the guacamole. Truly one of the worst table side guac I've ever had. Not even salt could save it. Order the honey glazed salmon and that was good. The salmon was slightly overcooked but it was still full of flavor along with the rice. Our entrees took awhile to come out and you can tell they sat under a heat lamp or hot box for awhile because my friend ordered the other fish dish with garlic butter crab on top and the and it was super dry. I give it three stars for the food because it's actually good, it's my second time coming here but for my family is the third time. And the food has been good but the thing that's bugging me is the wait time. It was ridiculously long, deserves One Star for me, I expected to have a better experience for the second time and same for my family but it has been the same, we had to wait almost an HOUR to get our food. At which point we wanted to leave but decided to stay. Drinks take about 20 minutes depending on what you order. We had a different party in the table next to us that came in about 30 minutes after us and they got their food much quicker. read more

So I popped into this restaurant with my brother to use the bathroom. I tried to order a drink, before using the bathroom. The bartender was taking too long so I just went. Came back still tried to order a drink since most restaurants policy's are bathrooms are for paying customers. Eventually we were able to grab a drink and my cousin showed up at this point. We decided to grab dinner there and this is where things took a turn for the positive. There were a group of guys across the bar from us and their food looked amazing. We asked what they see eating and they offered to order for us, which we said yes too. The food came out and it was amazing. My bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious and my cousin's steak was phenomenal. My brother enjoyed his salmon as well. Of they ordered is a butter dipping sauce that made everything even better. As if they weren't nice enough to begin with, they offered us their ribs try and they were tender and amazing as well. This was an epic night. We made a lunch reservation online with Resy on the restaurant Google page. We arrived early and they were able to accommodate us. I believe at lunchtime they are less busy. We got the table side guacamole and it was delicious. We were able to customize what we wanted in the guacamole to our spicy level. I got the swirl margarita and it was a normal size which I wanted. We ordered the cheese quesadilla for the kids meal. They accidentally brought us the chicken tenders kids meal but let us have the wrong order free. They then brought us the correct kids meal we ordered. I saved my appetite for the chocolate pinata which I've wanted to try for years. The chocolate pinata didn't disappoint. My son got a wooden bat and he was ready to swing it on the pinata. It was a fun food experience! He broke the pinata and we ate it. It had strawberries, pineapple and churros inside. There was chocolate syrup and whip cream to dip into. My only complaint was that I wished the strawberries had the green top removed. Also the prices were a little high but it is Orlando tourist prices and normal for places on International drive. The service was good and we had a fun time. I would come back again. read more

Uncle Julio's is located at Icon Park and is easily accessible. The ambiance is pleasant, and the staff are friendly. There was a live mariachi band playing outside the restaurant, and they also made their way inside, entertaining guests throughout the establishment. Although it was late and we were tired, we received good service and enjoyed our drinks. The food was just okay; it's more Tex-Mex, so it met expectations. I ordered fish tacos, which were well-seasoned but still just average. This is a great place to visit with a large group, as well as for couples or individuals. They have a share option for $12 a person and honestly 3 ppl could have ate from what they gave us for 2 ppl and wow it was good. I have mixed feeling about this restaurant. It's in a great fun location for families or a date. There is a large garage parking lot or valet. We stoped here on a Tuesday night for a birthday celebration. Not planned, no reservations. They had a mariachi playing and the Mexican themed decor is nice. We started with a house margarita on the rocks with salt. Nicely mixed, would order again. For the main dish, we shared the fajitas. The dish was ok. It lacked flavor and it was more of a Texmex style, which I don't love. This is where the 3 stars comes from. I give the ambience, drinks and staff 4 stars. I was told by others that the fish tacos were large portions for the price, but the flavor wasn't the most outstanding. The strawberry lemonade was delicious and tasted very fresh. Where to begin. So we had a reservation for 9:30pm. We arrived on time waited about 2-3minutes to be acknowledged and seated. Ambiance and decor were nice. We were given menus and downloaded the app for the free Large Guacamole. It arrived with chips, the guacamole and some water down salsa (First red flag). The guacamole had needed salt and that salsa was literally red water. We didn't see our waiter again for what had to be 35 minutes. The picture guy walking around was more attentive than "Carlos." Mind you he passed our table at least 40 times never stopped and asked us anything. Finally he took our order. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks... that's were watered down. Frozen swirled drinks. There was no frozen and our drinks tasted like syrup water. Our food party of four was tastes less and took an hour to get to us. We had to ask other waitresses and waiters to bring us items that "Carlos" didn't bring. "Carlos" seemed to take care of every other table beside ours. "Carlos" took made the experience terrible. First, this restaurant is beautiful. I love the decor and having plenty of space at the table. The food was delicious! I wish this place was closer to me, but we'll be back for sure. The guacamole is prepared fresh at your table and was delicious. The chips are freshly made as well and they're thin and crispy. Some of the best I've ever had, frankly. The seasoning on the fajitas was very good but did not overpower the meat. That happens often in other places. This was done just right. The corn tortillas are amazing as well! This has been the worst experience I've had at a Uncle Julio's. I was told a 15 minute wait and then after waiting 18 minutes I get a text telling me now my wait is 45 minutes. Meanwhile I see them sit people who came in after our party. When I raised it with the host/hostess they were beyond rude. This made the entire experience at the restaurant bad. If I didn't have hungry teenagers with me I would have left because I don't believe in spending my money for bad customer service. I wish I would have just left because the food turned out to be sub par. My tortilla soup was bland and the steak quesadillas were dry. I won't be back to this location! read more
