Jun/13/2020@ 2:30pm I call this store after reading reviews and I'm having tough time understanding how in the world they have reviews that way they do.... coronavirus and all they're not letting people in at once. They put out 2 chair front of their store. A female customer was sitting alone and she was pretty upset, she said they had her sewing machine for 6 weeks however no words from them so that's why she's there hopefully to know what's going on. I had to go restroom and I ask the guy who said he was just helping them. He said ok and show me where the bathroom was.... (thanks by the way) Now im sitting outside with that lady and she seems very upset. I would be too if I was her I wouldn't wait 6 weeks and still going... anyway back to me, I have singer futura xl 580 embroidery I was trying to get dust off the thread covers and ended up pulling out silver wire. And that was reson I visited them however I call them before I left my house and the guy said it be $49 plus parts and they do repairs singer brand and they're closer then singer authorize repair center and it was $10 cheaper then singer authorized repair center so that's how I ended up there. Now it's almost 5 clock Older Caucasian male asked me whats going on so I explained to him and before I came to him I opened my singer to see if anything I see unusual but nothing except dust so that's why I'm here, my machine keep giving me errors saying check the thread. He said they don't repair singer Even i told him about gentlemen I talked to and he's website also said they repair singer brand. I don't know if he's the owner but he won't let me talk to teach. They also said they wouldn't repair just because I opened my own unit??? Then turn around it be 200 dollars or more and ask me to leave my machine with them.. omg I never had this type of treatment and I am upset because now I can't go drop off at the place I was going to go because they're closing 15 minutes. I'm very interested about their reviews I mean positive reviews... how? I hope people don't believe other people reviews on here. It's not true!!!! trust me you will regrets! The service at A-1 is excellent. Highly recommend! My Bernina was ailing, her foot just would not work so I took her to the A-1 hospital for a diagnosis. The cost was quite high because it's a Bernina, and they are expensive machines. I was in a quandary, how could I not have a machine in my studio where I work daily? As I looked around the table of refurbished machines, a Bernina caught my eye. Oh joy, a newer model but still in the workhorse category. Gary reduced the price by $100 gave me $300 for my ailing 1120 and I walked out with a Refurbished, computerized Bernina with all of the feet, manual and case for $428.00 ( the $28 was my contribution to the state of Georgia). Gary and his crew of Merry Sewing Machine doctors could not have been nicer. I said goodbye to my 1120. I loved you for a very long time! But at home, in my studio was the case with feet etc, the manual and cover. Gary said bring it in when next you are here. Wow, we don't hear that very often. Upon arrival, I set up my "new to me" machine in a hurry and was soon humming along, trying out a variety of stitches and learning all about my new charge. Oh how happy she is in her new home, Gary and his crew are wonderful. The transaction was easy but I must say, saying goodbye was a little difficult. I visited this shop with a friend. I had asked her to make me some clothes with some very expensive Scottish Tartan material. My friend said with the requirement to match the plaid and other issues she could not do it. However, she had done business with this Sewing Machine Co and a great seamstress works there. We went to meet with Ceola and everyone in the shop was great - we arrived during the Eclipse and we had three pair of the glasses so we all took turns watching for a few minutes before we got down to business with Ceola. They are a very friendly group of people. Ceola took a few measurements then she went about making the perfect Vest, Jacket, and Slacks to wear during the Stone Mountain Scottish Highland Games in Oct 2017. I received numerous complements while I wore the pieces in several combinations for the weekend. Ceola is a top notch seamstress and the pieces she made are wonderful and a credit to her personally and the company. She finished the job ahead of time and for a very reasonable price. First off let me tell you how I tried to be a surgeon and clean my Elna 2600 (mechanical sewing machine). It went great at first and then AWFUL. I brought in my machine and within a couple days they called me with a price quote to repair and clean it. They stayed exactly true to the quote. I really appreciate the kindness and honesty they showed toward me while fixing my little machine. When I picked my machine up they were fabulous. Gary was so helpful. Gary is one of the children of the main lady who runs the family operated and owned business. Gary told me that his mother will turn 84 soon. I like feeling small town vibes even though I like ITP atlanta. I'm looking to buy a higher end computerized machine (since my current machine I've had for 10 years is mechanical). Gary was so kind and showed me the models that he thought would best fit my needs. If you need your machine cleaned or repaired I highly recommend this place. I was in need of a more modern sewing machine and the owner of my cleaners rant and rave about them, they brought a machine from them 30 years ago and it still functions very well. I decided to take the drive from Buford to Tucker GA and it was well worth it. As soon as i walk through the door they were so friendly and willing to help! Randy greeted me with so much kindness and courtesy, I really felt welcome. Then I met Gary I told him what I need and immediately he made great suggestion that would satisfy my beginners sewing need. Gary took the time to show me how to operate the machine in so many ways and also offered to help me with anything i needed if I got stuck, he said just give them a call and guess what i got stuck called Gary and he and his staff rectified the situation. In 2008 I took my Singer sewing machine in to have it repaired. Gary advised me that he could no longer get parts for the machine (I knew it was old), but would allow me to trade it in for a new machine. I ended up trading in both my sewing machine and serger and purchasing a Necchi Serger and a Janome sewing machine from Gary. He scheduled an appointment to teach me how to use the serger. His sister was very patient and helpful. Recently, I was experiencing an issue with the sewing machine, so I took it in to have it tuned up and cleaned. As usual Gary was helpful and even showed me how to use the automatic buttonhole attachment. I hadn't used the attachment in several years and had forgotten one key step. I just left A-1 Sewing Machine Co.( the family store)., and Julia and Gary were extremely nice. I brought in my family sewing machine for repair, and when Gary looked at it, he explained that the parts and labor would be much more than I would be willing to pay. He looked throughout the store, and found me an older model, but a very nice Singer sewing machine. He took the time to show me how this newer model worked, and we settled on a price that fit my needs. He made giving up my machine much easier. When I left there, I felt good about my purchase, and Gary and Julia made sure I knew that if I needed some help with my newer sewing machine, they would be more than willing to help. I highly recommend this business. I needed a new sewing/quilting machine and after researching brands, decided to get a Janome. I visited this business because it is an authorized Janome dealer. I was extremely pleased with my experience and purchase. Randy was very patient, asked many questions to make sure he understood my wants and needs in a machine, and helped me to make a good decision on the machine that I purchased. I never felt rushed and learned a lot about the machine that I tested. After getting home, I unboxed the machine, set it up and began sewing. I'm looking forward to attending the classes offered. It was like stepping into a portal on main street of your favorite small town! Good people all around. Almost felt like if I spent anymore time there, Gary would invite me to have dinner with the family! Sold me a fantastic 1960's straight-stitch, mechanical drive, Singer 404 for a fair price! A domestic workhorse that suits my leather-working needs. His sister and the rest of the team were knowledgeable and very helpful with selling you what you need and not what they want you to have. After buying many sewing machines over the years with plastic parts that never seem to last, I purchased the sewing machine of my dreams from A-1 Sewing Machine Co instead of repairing my new CP100X Brother sewing machine that ceased to work after I dropped it! Thanks to Gary's vast knowledge, I purchased the Janome Skyline S5. This machine has so many features that make sewing clothes easier, faster and stress-free! I had a small feather weight Singer sewing machine that was made in 1963 and a Brothers machine that was purchased back in 1988. I took the machines in to trade them and get a newer machine. I had taken both of them in the past to be serviced and Mr. Gary was interested in my feather weight machine. I traded the machines in for a used Janome 6260 as I don't sew enough right now to invest a ton of money into a machine. Mr. Gary gave me a fair price for my machines and got me into a machine that did a lot more than the 2 machines could do. I was very pleased with the transaction. Mr. Gary told me he would give me full value if I wanted to trade up within a year. Great customer service. I highly recommend this business for purchases as well as maintenance. read more

This should be my second review - I'm not sure what happened to my first one (which, too, was 5*). I bought my Janome 2212 from this great little hole-in-the-wall shop across from Northlake Mall a few months ago. Being a novice sewer, I managed to get the machine stuck somehow. I took it back to the shop and they made it right in 2 days. I figured it was operator error - but they took care of me the way old-fashioned customer service works: Take care of the customer! Everyone there is always super nice, very friendly and eager to help. They even offered me some free basic sewing lessons!!!! They love nothing more than to help sewers of all levels. I have an old Singer Sewing Machine that was my mother's. It had been stuck in a closet for years and recently we had a small water leak in that very closet. In repairing that, I came across the forgotten about machine. I have a grand daughter that is interested in sewing. I took the machine to A-1 Sewing Machine to see what they could do. They have cleaned it, oiled it and it is working! I was so pleased to find this little shop. I don't sew but wanted this old machine to work to be used by my grand daughter if she continues to show an interest. The ladies in there are delightful, all very kind and helpful. I was looking for a sewing machine repair location. It seems many are no longer in business, I guess people don't sew much any more. Of course there are a lot of quilters out there. I found A1 Sewing machine. The lady on the phone provided great directions and information. My commute was over an hour to get there however, it was worth it! Gary was very helpful. The shop has many awards on the walls and much history. There is a wealth of history and knowledge inside this small shop. I also fell in love with a 1948 Singer featherweight, in great condition, which I bought as I left my 70's Sears Kenmore for repair. There are many, many machines available there from old to new. Wow this place is AMAZING! I am new to sewing and decided to take sewing classes at Joann's Fabric with a Fashion Mate machine that's over 20 years old... I was advised to take it in for a tune up... From the time I dropped my machine off, to when I picked it up. EVERYONE was so helpful, and professional. I am so pleased with A-1 Sewing. This is truly a great place. I would not take my machine anywhere else. Not only did they fix my machine, they even helped me understand the different attachments. They showed me how to attach them, and explained what they did. A-1 Sewing Machine saved my Christmas! At 2 AM, in the middle of sewing Christmas presents, my machine seriously jammed, far beyond my ability to fix. I spent the next few hours looking for a reputable sewing machine repair on line. A-1 was highly recommended. I was at A-1's doors right as they opened. They were kind enough to allow me to wait as they evaluated the issue. Is was more that a simple fix and they needed to keep my machine. But they were great, fixed sooner that I thought and were very reasonably priced. They will be "My Store" when I replace my 40+ year old machine! I am a beginner sewer and wanted to buy a sewing machine. I went to Joanns fabrics and a lady there directed me not to buy a plastic machine but buy a used machine with good metal parts in it. It will be the same price for a better machine. I found A-1 Sewing and walked in 10 minutes before they closed and was greeted with smiles. The guy that worked there was very helpful and I ended up buying a $450 machine used for $150. He talked about all the machines with me and said if I need any help with lessons, to write down what I would like to improve and would teach me what I would like. Excited to start sewing! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Recommend going here for repairs, or buying machines. read more

After taking a basic sewing class at JoAnn's Fabrics on how to thread a machine I searched for a sewing machine online and at Walmart. I'm so glad I found A-1 before I bought a machine of lesser quality for more money. Gary listened to what I was looking for and helped me find the right equipment to get started within my budget. I bought a refurbished Janome for $130, saving over a $100 for a new one. I'm very happy with it and was especially surprised that they wouldn't let me leave for about an hour and a half before going over every function of the machine and familiarizing me on it's proper use and sharing useful tips that I have employed. We have gone to A-1 Sewing Machine repair several times and each time I'm so impressed with their customer service and attention to detail. They do everything in their power to get your machine repaired and back to you as soon as possible. This is especially important now during the pandemic when everyone is making masks. It's a family-owned business and it doesn't matter who I speak to. Everyone is professional, friendly and accommodating. I was told they were 30 days out for machine repairs yet my machine was ready in less than 3 weeks.
